Just brought my vehicle in to them for the first time for an inspection and oil change other day, happy with my experience so far. They had old school top gear playing on the TV when I dropped off my car and again when I picked it up, so I suspect they are legit. Looking forward to hopefully having them as my go-to garage for automotive maintenance for years to come.

I have been coming to Apex Auto for years now and I recommend them to anyone in Pittsburgh! They are so friendly and kind! They really care about their customers. Most recently, I ran into an issue where I couldn t get the license plate off (after selling my car to someone). The plate was stuck on due to some rusted nails and I tried everything without success. Finally, I called Apex and spoke to Ed. Despite Apex being very busy, he was able to get a mechanic named Isaiah to help me get the plate off. What awesome customer service! Thank you!Service: Body & Trim

Used this business for the first time today. Inspection and oil change. This business has THE most pleasant people working there! Phone convos, in person convos, all pleasant. Might be weird to say for an auto business but their vibe is on point!

Looking for a "grubby tough guy" to meet you at the door, or a "chew-spittin" loud-mouth trying to sell you a bone? you won't find that here. I have never been to an auto repair shop and been treated with more respect and professionalism than Apex Auto. All of their staff is friendly and will take care of you. They "listen", and know the business. That's why I go back to only Apex. Unlucky for them, my goal is to own a newer model every few years, but they'll never meet the same fate as the Maytag repairmen. Pittsburgh's "full of bones".

Apex was one the best auto shops I ve interacted with. Got me in for inspection/emissions and an oil change within a few days of moving to town. Prices were reasonable without unnecessary upcharging and service was completed quickly. Will definitely be back.Services: Tire rotations, Auto emissions testing, Vehicle safety inspection, Oil changeServices: Tire rotations, Auto emissions testing, Vehicle safety inspection, Oil change

I cannot recommend Apex enough. While you might be charged slightly higher than other shops, it is well worth it -- this is an instance of paying for quality. And when it comes to my vehicle, I'm more than willing to do that. I have gone here a handful of times while living in Pittsburgh for general auto maintenance, and have always had positive experiences. The representatives at the front desk/over the phone are always approachable and friendly, and as someone who is not mechanically inclined at all, I never feel like I'm being talked down to, or that they are trying to get me to agree to services I don't actually need. They are quick, great at keeping customers informed on the status of their vehicle, and most importantly, honest. This last time, they even took me out back so I could see for myself what was happening, which I had never had happen before but I really appreciated.I cannot attest to any sort of body services -- I am not sure that they do that here, as it is not a shop that specializes in collision repairs and what not. But for internal maintenance and general mechanic needs, this place is great!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Wheel alignment, Air conditioning, Oil change

THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR A USED VEHICLE IN NEED OF SOME LIGHT WORK.If youre maintaining a nice, new vehicle, this is probably an okay spot at best. I have a 2012 used car in fair condition that I took to get inspected here. Not worth it. They quoted me like $2000+ to fix one tire, the exhaust, bushings, and rear bumper - which has a slight crack (yet has passed many years with this).I got the tires at Walmart (about same price but for two tires), exhaust repaired at Master Muffler ($190 repair, not new), and got it reinspected at Bash Auto for ~$90.Go to Bash Auto! It's off of S. 21st St. & they can get you in quick. They are nice, honest, and fairly priced. APEX is not.@Apex Thanks for your response. Doubt that you will change though.

$140 for a diagnostic check, and $75 for an oil change(even when I brought my own oil/filter). Absolutely highway robbery with these prices.

My son's car overheated while in Pittsburgh and Apex was recommended to us by a friend who takes his car there. Ed and Dave were so helpful in looking into the problem for us. We appreciated the kindness and help.Very nice people and would recommend them based on our experience.Gary B.

Our daughter was living in Pittsburgh and had a major problem with her car. Not knowing any mechanics in the area-- we were SO lucky to find Apex Auto Service. The owner was so in credibly kind and super knowledgeable and was willing to talk to us even though it was 15 minutes before closing. He took time to understand the problem that brought us in. He looked at it the next day and called us to explain the situation in detail. I've never had a mechanic treat me as nicely( and sympathetically) than he did. It's a small family-owned place and I could not recommend them more! Absolutely recommend them!

I have been to many mechanics in the past and unfortunately they have all left me very cautious when dealing with them. This was not the case at Apex. I had to get my front and rear brakes and rotors replaced, as well as both lower control arms. The staff were very welcoming and Jason and David explained what the repairs needed were, why it was essential, and the function of the parts. My rear bumper assembly looked like it needed to get replaced but after a better view of it they called me and let me know that it did not. They provided me a refund for those paid services, this auto shop is fantastic and if you re looking for a staff that is kind, has integrity, and is transparent, then this is the shop for you.Services: Wheel alignment, Brakes

IDK, man. Everyone here is really nice and seemingly helpful but I took my car back in April to get inspected. They quoted me over $2600 to get a sticker. I got a few of the repairs done but was trying to prioritize and ended up driving on an expired inspection for months. I recently took my car to a different shop and they made all of the repairs, and got me an inspection sticker for $330. I know that a lot of places will try to get a couple hundred extra dollars out of you when it comes to inspection estimates, but to quote me at over $2000 more than what was required to get a sticker is an absolute outrage. Which got me thinking back to a few months ago when I had taken my car BACK to Apex for a check engine light. They ran a $200 diagnostics test on my gas tank without asking me first, when in reality I would have been happy to trial-and-error the solution since it ended up being a $20 gas cap that fixed it. Come to find out, there's an entirely different light that will come on to indicate a faulty gas cap. I fully believe that these people are scammers. I kinda feel silly and taken advantage of for thinking that because people seem friendly that means that they must be trustworthy, but hey! Perhaps my experience can be a learning one for YOU! Take your car somewhere else, these people will rob you and do it with a big smile.

I cannot recommend Apex enough! Since the first time I called in to inquire about state inspections David assisted me and was the most cheerful person I had ever spoken to at anybody s shop. They completely helped us on a day when we were being sent back-and-forth to get things completed for PennDOT. They helped us out with that process so well that we went back for the inspections as well as an oil change, and Jason (Also amazing!) saw that I had a spare on my jeep and took a look at my tire in the trunk that had a nail I was told could not be fixed he took it for the weekend, called me on Monday and said he fixed it and that when I came in for the oil change and inspection he would put it back on for me! Erica is super helpful and very quick to respond to any emails or calls of questions!Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Tire rotations, Vehicle Inspection, Oil change

Highly recommend as a newer Pittsburgh resident. Other reviews from women mentioned this was a fair and safe business if you re going in for work on your car alone, which really influenced my decision to use them, and I could not agree more. Glad to have found my go to mechanic here.

This place is amazing! I needed my car inspected on a tight schedule and they were able to get me in rather soon. They are extremely professional and explain everything to you in terms that you will understand. I feel like they genuinely cared about me and my vehicle! They did an excellent job and I will definitely be going back. Thanks Jason and Ed!

My car (2013 Hyundai Elantra) has been making some noise lately, so I took it to Apex after reading the positive reviews. I dropped it off between 8 and 9am since they said they had an opening that day. I did not get any response back until the following morning around 10:30am.The callback I received went over multiple issues with the car which included needing to replace the front brake pads and rotors as well as replacing the outer tie end rod. The brake pad and rotor replacement was estimated to cost $708.28 and the tie end rod was supposed to cost $355.86. I was shocked at these prices as I have both bought and changed my own brakes and rotors in the past and have had them changed at other mechanics and have never had to pay close to $700 (whereas the tie end rod I had no previous experience with). I told them to not work on anything while I think it over and they offered to email me the estimate paperwork to go over (which was appreciated). After getting off the phone, I called a mechanic whom I had taken my car to in the past but had not gone to this time since I had moved a bit farther away from them. I asked for an estimate on the brake pads and rotors with labor included and they quoted me around $350 (HALF THE COST OF APEX). I then asked for a quick of-the-top-of-their-head estimate on a tie end rod replacement, and again they said about half the cost of Apex. When I told the mechanic what Apex was quoting, they laughed and asked if the building was made of solid gold.Nevertheless, I called Apex back to let them know I was taking my car elsewhere and I still have to pay $50 for the estimate. But at least I will be saving HUNDREDS by taking my car to Calfo's on Greenfield Ave instead.

Erica (the woman who answered the phone and seemed to be running the place) was the most unexpectedly friendly person I ve ever spoke to at a garage. Super helpful and very quick service. I got just got an inspection, but these guys are solid.

I have been going to Apex Auto for my annual inspections for about 5 years. I was always afraid that being a young female I would be taken advantage of when it comes to car things. I am 110% confident that I will never be ripped off here. Jason has always been very honest and thorough with what needs done to my cars and gives me a heads up on what might be needed the next year. He takes the time to explain to you why something passes or fails. I am so happy I found Apex Auto and will never go anywhere else in Pittsburgh!

They did an awesome job on a repair that other shops have failed at. They had an easy opportunity to overcharge me but didn't. I'd highly recommend them to anyone, and they have reasonable prices.Service: Auto maintenanceService: Auto maintenance

These guys know what they're doing and they don't push you to get extra stuff done if you don't need them. I always had a great experience there. Once, one of my tire kept leaking air and they did everything they could to fix it but the tire needed to be changed. Instead of having me wait a week to get the correct tire, they recommended that I go to a tire place not too far from them. I thought that was really nice of them to not make me wait, it shows they care about your needs, IMO. Their price are very reasonable.

I really liked this place in the beginning. I took my car there regularly and recommended others do so as well. I gave them positive reviews. I can't tell if the growth in business and thus expansion of employees is the issue, or if offering cheaper service in the beginning to get customers and good reviews, then price gauging once you have them is the issue. But, I went from spending reasonable amounts for things- being willing to wait a little longer for a small business- to spending exorbitant amounts for repairs, waiting even longer, and dealing with people who are either lying for money or who lack the knowledge of what they are doing. Basic knowledge.I am being intentionally vague because I don't feel like dealing with a business that feels slighted. In short, a car that should have been junked was "repaired" for a huge price, some repairs were charged but not done, and the next mechanic to take a look at it to repair it again said the entire bottom fell out of the car, so then more had to be paid to have someone junk it. I'm talking thousands of dollars overall. In short, even if you trusted these guys in the past, if something seems or feels off, trust your gut and consider a second opinion. Especially if you have an older car.

My car had to get a lot of work done on it when I took it in for inspection. There's been a few hiccups along the way because that's just my luck, but everyone has kept me up to speed and they're doing great work.
