The level of quality and care for your car is something to behold at Smeltz Automotive. Ed and his techs are a gift to those whose cars are worked on there. I own a VW R32 (only 5,000 were made per year until the model evolved to the R) and will only take it to trusted teams that really understand German vehicles and engineering. After recently moving to PA, I was referred to Smeltz Automotive by a trusted friend. Ed is one of the most comprehensive and thorough mechanics I've met. Ed has been in the automotive business for generations and his passion for the trade is on clearly display out front of his garage with many of his personal hobby cars. He has a great team of hardworking, knowledgeable, and trustworthy mechanics. My family has had vehicles serviced by Ed and his crew since I was a kid. You will not find a more honest and trustworthy individual in the area.If you value your vehicle and quality of service this is the shop for you. They are not the cheapest in the business, but prices are reasonable and quality+service is exception. If you have a European vehicle this is definitely the shop for you.I hope Ed avoids retirement for many more years. Was having trouble with my 2018 vw jetta, was quoted a price from a vw dealer of 2g at the worst. Smeltz did a diagnostic for 2 hundred and fixed the problem. Very pleased.

They seem to know what they are doing but like everything else they arent cheap. Did some diagnosing for us and ended up with a hefty bill and took the car home unrepaired.

I took my car in just to get it diagnosed. I informed them all the work my Fianc� and I already put in trying to find the problem. I told them the codes it was showing. They called me the next day to REPEAT what I had already told them when dropping it off. Tried to blame it on a NEW part I just replaced. Absolute a waste of my money

Mr.Smeltz is honest and very knowledgeable. I'm sure there's others who might be cheaper, especially for domestic cars. I have a volvo and he's second to none for them. Also known to be great for most foreign makes and models. You don't go to him for the best price. You go to him because he knows what he's doing and hires mechanics with foreign car experience. I don't go anywhere else for my volvo (local dealership is a JOKE).

I took my car down and it's a 2001 volkswagen jetta Ed told me he could fix it I explained to him before I took the car down that I could put the front end together aka car don't run he knew that proceed to take car down and he looked at it and then told me he couldn't do it and the work I was asking I could do by myself if I had time in less than two hours

Very good place to bring your car when you feel something may be wrong. The owner is knowledgeable and very honest. It is fortunate to have a good mechanic where we live.

Not sure on how well they are, but can say they have cars moving in and out daily,They do a lot, do not know their prices, but from what I see daily, they work hard and often.I deliver 7bdays a week there
