Brought my car in because the check engine light came on and had been sputtering periodically. When I was on my way into the mechanic, the check engine light went off just by chance. John explained that the computer showed old history codes but it shouldn t be a concern since the check engine light was off currently. I was due for an oil change, tire rotation and annual inspection anyway so I told him to do the inspection while it was there. He told me I needed new tires to pass inspection. Funny that he failed to mention the cracked exhaust manifold, destroyed catalytic converter and destroyed O2 sensor which would have been obvious if an adequate inspection was performed. Given the fact that I was experiencing symptoms prior to bringing it in, the history codes the car threw when he ran the computer on it and the fact that extent of damage doesn t occur overnight, it is obvious that this oversight could have potentially caused more damage than I initially brought it into him for. Bottom line is, do your own research and listen to word of mouth when it comes to mechanics. Don t rely on the Google review when it comes to this guy. Go see Scott over at H&S Motors and he ll take good care of you.

I've been driving for 37 years and dealing with mechanics for just as long. At this point, I wouldn't want to take my car anywhere other than West Shore Auto. When my family discovered John's shop a few years ago, we became instant fans. His ability to accurately diagnose and then prescribe the right solution, economically, is second to none. Add to that his honesty along with an encyclopedic knowledge base, and you end up with one of the greatest assets to drivers in Central PA. Thanks for keeping my whole family safely on the road!

John and staff are honest and to the point. You either need something or you don t. As a woman, I have never felt taken advantage of or talked into extra services I didn t need. Since my last mechanic retired, I have finally found my go to shop. I highly recommend them!

Just moved back to the area and will miss the great 11th Street Auto in Philly (11th & Christian) but I follwed the reviews to West Shore Auto and now have my new local garage. Did a Pa inspection and a power window fix in a very reasonably priced and timely way. Thanks, John.

Trustworthy to the actual laws for state inspection and did not search for extra work to up charge. He has the consumers interest in mind. They are busy but worth the wait.

John and his team at West Shore Auto Care are outstanding car repair professionals. My power steering blew out (with smoke) on the highway on my way from NY to NC. Napa Auto Parts recommended West Shore. It was a Monday. John said he was packed busy but would try to work me in. 5 minutes later, he got me in, found a hard to find part, and had me on the road in 3 hours. While waiting, I heard and saw John relate to customers honestly, directly and always with highly professional care. Thanks, John, Ray and the rest of your team. I've been taking my '02 Jeep GC to this service center for several years after it was recommended by a community social media group. I can tell you that this business has earned every one of its five star reviews. The service is always top notch and the prices are very fair. John has saved me on more than one occasion where I dropped my car off unexpectedly due to a blown power steering hose or my engine suddenly overheating. In both of these cases, he managed to fit me into his schedule and the repairs were completed by the following day. He has earned my business and this will continue to be my go to repair shop.

We just moved from Ephrata to Lemoyne and didn't know where to take my car for inspection. Wonderful experience with West Shore Auto. They got me in quickly. Mind you you will still need to make an appointment. They are honest and don't try to nickel and dime you. I just got an inspection done this time but will be back with both our cars needs from them. Definitely recommended.

Had a vibration after installing wheels myself, called late in the day and asked to have them balanced.They fit me in on short notice and out up with my me as I'm quite picky about my car. I was out the door in under 30 with them being after hours. I still had a vibration (it ended up being an issue that I most likely caused) he fit me in a day later fixed it and didn't charge me.

My daughter needed her car fixed before a road trip to Denver, John at West Shore was outstanding and took care of her. Got her in quickly, kept her updated throughout and did quality work at a reasonable price. As someone who is new to the area, I am so grateful a friend recommended this mechanic to me. John was kind, understanding, and made sure I understood what was happening with my vehicle and how to fix it. He genuinely seemed as if he wanted to help, without costing me a fortune. I do not know much about cars so this kind of service is incredibly appreciated. He also saw my car in the AM and had it fixed, ready to go by after lunch. Quick, reliable, kind service! Highly recommend.

Fantastic fast service. Most importantly, honest. I recently moved and needed a reliable mechanic and I went to the right place. John was honest with me and really tried his hardest to save me money, instead of going ahead and doing whatever was most expensive. He even took me down and showed me what was going on in my vehicle. I will trust John and his team with every car I ever own. Again and again, West Shore Auto has exceeded every expectation, even when disaster strikes or when we think our situation is beyond repair. No matter what, our vehicle always leaves his shop in a better condition than we thought was possible.John's team is effective, efficient, and understanding, all of which are priceless when dealing with our most valuable assets. Somehow, this team finds a way to do SUPERB work at an affordable price every single time our vehicles need work. John was a pleasure to work with. I had a faulty water pump on my vehicle. He was able to set up an appointment day after I called. At 8:30am the next day he called and confirmed the issue was the water pump and gave me a very reasonable estimate. The vehicle was ready for pickup just before noon. Thank you so much for making my vehicle drivable with a turnaround time I would expect from a dealership at the price of an independent shop!

John and his technicians have earned my trust and future business. I've taken my car to them for two separate issues - first a faulty o2 sensor, and months later, a busted HVAC motor - and they fixed the problem in a way that exceeded my expectations. John is very accommodating in answering my questions and explaining things to me and his technicians clearly have lots of experience and are very friendly. These are honest and knowledgeable professionals and I'm more than happy with the service that I paid for. The prices are very reasonable and easily worth the quality of work and overall experience in my opinion. Keep being awesome, I'll keep coming back.

Took my truck in expecting to have to have a Jasper rebuilt engine put in it. Told John I had to make it last another 2yrs because of being so far under on what I owe on it. He called me back the next day & agreed with me that it wasn t really worth spending that much on it because of all the underlying rust issues it has & it would probably only last me another 2-3yrs before I had some major rust repair bills to the frame. Was just going to trade it in the way it was & take the severe hit on what I owed on it. He called me back the next day & told me that he found me a very good used engine so I went that route. Couldn t be happier!!! I just hit 500 miles on the engine he found & it runs perfect. No smoking, no knocking, holds oil pressure like it should & it hasn t used a drop of oil yet. Best part was he got the engine, installed it & did some other repairs on the truck for me and the bill was less then 1/2 of just the Jasper engine. It runs so good that I m even considering getting the rusted areas repaired with the money I saved & keeping it for as long as it is safe & passes inspection. Can t praise these guys enough!!!!!

Great service at fair prices. I took my vehicle here (for the first time) for an alignment and other services, (Previously I replaced my struts and tie rod ends so it definitely needed to be aligned). After the work was performed I asked John (owner) how bad out of alignment it was. He said, "honestly it wasn't bad". If I had taken this to a "dealer" they would have said "it needed it badly and tried to sell me other services". I was going to have the alignment done either way but right there tells me he is an honest person. I believe his motto "We do it right the first time". I will be bringing both my vehicles to him in the future. Thank you John.

I have always taken my vehicles here for oil changes, inspections, and most recently, got bumped in my work parking lot, and was able to stop in, and have them put it back, good as new (minus a tiny bit of paint, but no dent or cracked headlight so its PERFECT!)Service: General repairs & maintenanceService: General repairs & maintenance

John and his mechanics quickly took me in today without an appointment & took good honest care of me and my showcar. Earlier today, I had my car inspected at a dealer for an annual State Inspection and they told me that I needed to replace 2 new lower rear control arms due to "bad bushings" at a total price of $580. They said that they would need to keep the car overnight and order parts for it. I responded that I thought that price was too high just to replace 2 bushing and asked why the entire control arms needed to be replaced too. I asked them for a less expensive fix if possible to replace the bushings without replacing the entire control arms. About an hour later I was quoted a price with an EVEN HIGHER quote of $900 to do the work, which they would "kindly reduce" to $670....$90 more than their original repair estimate repair quote to me. I asked to see the condition of the bushings, and I was told that it would be a while for them to get the car back on the lift and they sent me to the waiting room. I had enough and spoke to the Service Manager to tell him my concerns and then I asked for my keys & immediately took the car to West Shore Auto to get a second opinion on the condition of the bushings. Online reviews showed me that West Shore Auto was a mechanic that I could trust. John and his mechanics took me in immediately and we put the car on a lift and we each all visually inspected the bushings under a bright flashlight. The bushings were actually in very good shape with no cracking, and nothing wrong with them to warrant a failed safety inspection. The control arms were also not deteriorated and showed very little rust...again nothing to warrant their complete replacement either. So long story short, my low mileage showcar was being held hostage today by a dealer for $670 to conduct repairs that were not actually needed, before they would give me my State Safety Inspection. West Shore Auto conducted a Safety Inspection and saved me from being taken for $670 by a dealer. I plan to soon purchase 4 new tires for my car with the $670 that West Shore Auto saved me....and I now have a new mechanic in Lemoyne that I can call to work on my cars that I can trust. Thanks John!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff that are honest and will work with you. Took my car in for inspection. Needed a new tire and repair to my e brake cable tensioner to pass and they got it done for a very reasonable price. Will definitely keep coming back and make sure my family starts going here

John and his team are totally 5 STAR. Recently, my daughter had tires rotated at a local tire dealership(part of a package). Not only were they extremely off schedule, they tried to sell her $800+ of brake repairs. John and his team took brakes off, cleaned,etc,( explaining the process to her and showing her where the issues we're), replaced the pads...and had her on her way in less then 2 hours. Total bill ---$150!!! It is embarrassing to think that in 2018 places like her first experience are still around and duping customers. GO TO JOHN and enjoy!

The owner spent alot of time (20 minutes or more) explaining the problems with my car. I was very impressed with his patience and willingness to give up his time to help me understand my options. I have taken my car there for 5 years and have always appreciated his up front, honest dealings coupled with his exhaustive knowledge of cars and PA inspection regulations. I cannot recommend this shop enough!

Simply excellent - they worked with me to schedule a pre purchase inspection on a used car and saved me from buying a major headache that looked great on the surface.They took the time to show me what was wrong and what effects the modifications unbeknownst to me (car was lowered significantly from stock ride height - I didn t notice despite being a car enthusiast because I wasn t familiar with the semi-uncommon car in question) would have down the road.If I m ever car shopping in the area again (or end up moving there), I ll be bringing my car in to West Shore.

I am a small business owner an ex-mechanic and a mechanics kid. I have been around cars and garages since before I could walk. John has done work on three of my vehicles. Every time he handed me a lower than expected bill and a properly repaired vehicle. This needs to be rewarded more than ever in this era of bigger businesses with terrible business practices.

If you want honest mechanics DO NOT come here! Came here because of the good reviews and they were a NAPA Mechanic but I learned that the NAPA part that I purchase was suppose to replaced under warranty was not replaced at all! There were leaks in the struts which would fail inspection were just wiped off so I could pass inspection instead of replacing the part. John also would not provide any proof of replacement since it was a warranty replacement, I never heard such a thing, but I just said okay. The leaks are back and just to make sure that the part was replaced, i crossed check the serial numbers and the the serial number matches to the original! Now my warranty is up and have to replace this part.I will say this again, if you want honest mechanics DO NOT come here!

Nothing but great things to say about John and the West Shore Auto Care mechanics. I've never felt like I was being taken advantage of, or that I was paying too much for their services. Would recommend West Shore to any/all of my friends and family.
