Please be aware!! I went to get my car fixed, the check engine and AT light was on, and I went to another shop and told us it was a transmission problem, and that shop does not do transmissions, and recommended Cottman. Went to cottman and dropped the car off and it took 3 weeks to fix, then when I got the car back the drive home the check engine and AT light turned back on. I took the car back the next day, and it took another 3 weeks in service.The day I got my car back, I was driving for 7 minutes and the car spun out by its self, and caused an accident. The service here is terrible and please be aware

They rebuilt my transmission and fixed some electrical issues the dealer misdiagnosed. They kept the car for six weeks, and gave some financial breaks on parts. But I took it in with no engine light on, and when I picked it up the engine light was on. The new manager was supposed to be calling to see if she could get a part to fix and she hasn't called back yet. It's been a month. And she said I'd have to pay for the engine light issue...it wasn't covered on work they just completed. They also left a scratch on hood of car. I'm not satisfied.

These people are liers and thieves. I first called in about rebuilding a transmission after getting the price I decided to not go ahead, however Shawn who is either the owner or the manager was reluctant to give me my transmission back, he lied and tell me that he had already started working on the transmission and all the parts were already bought for it, this was Despite there being no deposit paid and this just being a evaluation for a qoute. after a brief back and forth Shawn told me I can come and pick up my transmission. Once I arrived the transmission was completely dissambled he then told me to come back another day because his technicians are not in. " there were technicians present so that was also a lie". I was then contacted by another person at Cottman that told me they can do my transmission for $3500 with a 2 year warranty and installation. Upon paying my deposit I was told Shawn will be sending me a receipt, I called Shawn multiple times with no response, he finally answered 2 weeks later and told me to stop blowing up his phone and hanged up on me. After that I visited Cottman to check up on my transmission and was greeted by Jeff who was very agitated that I was asking about my transmission and seemingly got angrier has the conversation progressed so I left. After 2 weeks Shawn called to tell me my transmission is ready and needs his final payment and told me he will not be installing my transmission because he "bust his as rebuilding it and the money wasn't enough for an install" once I told him that I was told this includes an install he told me that "he doesn't care what they told me he's not doing an install" this place is rotten to the core I will be reporting them and seeking legal action.I still didn't recieve my receipt of payment they are a fraudulent business.

I had a great experience here. I got my entire transmission rebuilt due to it being in a flood. I did not rush the process. The work took about to weeks and I know have my car back for about 2 weeks and it s runs brand new. THANK YOU!!Rob at the customer is amazing. Hes very polite and friends. He s also a man of his word. Everything he said they were going to do, he made sure it got done. Without him, I probably wouldn t have got my transmission rebuilt. I was on the verge of looking for a new car, but he convinced me that the mechanics at this location are very knowledgeable on what they re doing and even gave me warranty on parts & labor.If any problems pops up down the line, I will update this review. I will update this review in 3 months on cars driving condition.

Shawn worked on my 2006 Honda Accord transmission. Brought it in with a failing transmission at 155k in 2020. These cars have known transmission issues. Clutch plates were badly worn internally. Car ran great at first after the rebuild. It is now june 2023 with 185k miles (30k miles later) and the transmission has started slipping again. He claimed I'd get another 100k miles on it after he was done with it, guess it fell 70k miles short. They havena two year warranty, but it's three years later and mine failed, how convenient . Paid $3400. Never going back there again.

Does not honor their warranty. Was charged $500 and $1000 for two separate warranty issues. Difficult experience. Transmission was rebuilt and new clutch installed. Four months in clutch failure. Not covered under their warranty charged $500. Four months after that clutch starts slipping. Asked for an upgraded clutch and specifically asked for an Exedy clutch from Kristen. Waited months with various excuses that it was shipped wrong and returned, shipped to wrong place, shipped only partial. Finally arrived after ten weeks and they did not order what we asked for. Was told we should have ordered ourselves by Shawn. Shawn said Kristen isn t there and this is what we get and charged $1000 for no name clutch not Exedy. He offered to put a new clutch in if this one fails. Not the confidence we were looking for. Rip off warranty. Does not stand behind the parts they put in your car. Beware!Transmission is fine that s the only reason for two stars.They do not understand performance parts and cars.Service: Transmission

I highly recommend this place for their honesty and their integrity! I originally took my van to the dealer and was charged a large amount of money and it was not fully fixed. I took it to Cottman Transmission and they fixed my entire transmission and some other issues I had with my van. I was then able to take my van on a road trip from Pennsylvania to Florida. This past week I had an alternator issue with my van and they stood behind their warranty and fixed it again!!! My experience with them has been all positive and I really appreciated how they truly stand behind their work and continue to be their fir my family and I!!!Services: Transmission, Engine repair

My experience was a positive one indeed. I needed a transmission, which they were ultimately able to rebuild. Customer's service was great, they knew exactly what the problem was and gave me an upfront price. Little pricey but I figured experience is worth it. Had my vehicle back within 2 days once they got the parts. And even gave me a 100 dollar discount on labor after hearing my story on a 30 day ownership of vehicle. Would certainly go back if needed. But let's hope I don't see them for a few years.

This place is a godsent! I have Dodge Journey and a very large family and it is my only vehicle right now. Recently my car did not just break on me =, but it shattered. I needed a new transmission, drive shaft and transfer case all at once. I know! That job sounds expensive right!? The guys here at Cottman gave me an amazing price for all of my repairs and they worked tirelessly to help me be able to take my car home to my kids in only a few days! It was no easy task by any means at all! It was a lot of sleepless nights and phone calls back and forth trying anything possible! But they did it! They did a fantastic job! My car feels as good as new and I cannot thank them all enough for everything they have done for me and my family! While helpful, Left a bad feeling with me after I had them check the car. Something in the eye of the office gent told me that further research was indicated. Got a second and third opinion. There were no codes in the transmission. It was working fine. Cottman recommended a full rebuild. The car only required a tune up. Cottman will not receive a referral from me but the other two garages will.Responding to your comment... Trust begins at the door. Your guy came across sincere and genuine going in. After I returned to pick up my vehicle after the test, something in his body language seemed off and raised a red flag. I did due diligence and had another set of qualified eyes look at the car. Your guys recommendations were not valid. A reading of the transmission codes would have told him that. He did not inform me of those results since, those results would have stopped a sale. I drove some 20 miles to you because of YOUR NAME and the reputation. My expectations we for you to meet that. They were not. Further discussion with your company would not be productive since, I can bring this down to one statement. Be honest with your client throughout the entire process and you gain referrals and future business. This has been a learning process for both of us. PEACE

We have a 2014 Jeep Patriot with 105,000 miles on it. It was not running smoothly and we had been told by another mechanic that we needed a brand new transmission. We read reviews for Cottman Transmission and were impressed by the positive feedback other customers had given them. We decided to head there for a 2nd opinion. Shawn could not have been nicer. After the mechanic ran a diagnostic on our car, he said the transmission was fine and that we needed new spark plugs & coils. We spent hundreds on the work done, rather than the thousands a brand new transmission would've cost us. Shawn had said it would be a few hours, but when he realized I had to stay there while the work was done, he ordered pizza for the mechanics and they basically worked through their lunch time so I didn't have to stay there too long. He even offered me pizza. :) I would absolutely recommend Cottman Transmission and we are already planning to have them take a look at our other car in the near future. Thank you for going above & beyond!

I would recommend anyone in the Pennsylvania area to take your car to Cottman for whatever service that you may need on your vehicle. Sean and his team are very professional and they take care of your vehicle as if it were their own. Their the Best at what they do and they will have your vehicle fixed in a timely fashion no matter what the problem is. Cottman is the Best auto service provider that I've seen thus far. If you're looking for Great and Professional mechanic service i definitely recommend Cottman. I know that your only able to leave a 5 star review, but in my book they definitely deserve 10 stars!! I had my car towed to Cottman as it was stuck in gear, the owner Shawn was incredibly helpful to me particularly as I was on a budget and was able to replace my transmission, the clutch and both front axles for a very reasonable price and was able to have it done in time for me. Absolutely recommend this shop, especially being I am a mechanic myself and know firsthand what places to trust. My car is now fully functional and driving great thanks to cottman!!Service: Transmission

My one year 12,000 mile warranty on my rebuilt transmission is about to expire. After 9,000 miles I am more than happy with the trans rebuild, my dodge charger has 238,000 miles and runs like new. Sean was a pleasure to work with and I would def recommend Cottman. My only complaint is the aftermath of a mechanic entering and exiting the vehicle over the 4 week period. The car was returned to me with a very dirty door panel, floor trim and greasy gritty steering wheel.

I can't start to tell y'all how much these guys helped me. So I will start by telling you this if you have anything going wrong with your car dont and I repeat Dont take it to a back yard mechanic take it directly to Cottmans Transmissions of Emmaus. I thought I could save some money by doing just that but boy was I wrong. I almost lost my job i just had a baby an I'm living in a hotel with my family. Three weeks later a engine and transmission later my truck still wasn't done. So in desperation I called Cottmans transmissions an spoke with Shawn, I told him my story and what I was going through he had my truck towed to his shop in Emmaus at no charge an checked my 2006 Ford explorer for free. An to my surprise the other mechanic did more wrong than right to my truck Shawn an his team told me what was done an what wasn't done it was way worse than I expected. He then told me the price to fix my truck an I was unable to pay that. No problem he said I will help you an he did just that. I have bad credit an yet he helped me get a loan to fix my truck when everyone else denied me he got me the loan. I don't know how or why I just know these guy's or should I say angels in mechanic suites are the way to go. My truck is fixed like brand new and I kept my job. I recommend these Angels to any an anyone. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. This place told me my transmission was leaking internally and needed to be pulled to know what would need to be done which was quoted at $600, then he assumed I would need a rebuild for another $1200. Come to find out I had slight carbon buildup in my catalytic Converter which was causing what felt like a gear shift issue. Which was easily cleaned out by me after I told them not to touch my transmission. These people blatantly lie to customers to squeeze money out of them. Disgusting. Do not go here. Oh and btw I haven t had a single issue since driving my own vehicle off their lot.Service: Transmission

My car was having issues, I took it back to the dealership I bought it from where the mechanic charged me a arm and leg to look at it and then told me I needed thousands of dollars worth of work. I wanted to verify all of these "problems" I took it to cottman he looked over it for free, and it was just a leak in the housing. He offered to fix it for a very very fair price but I opted out because I do have a family member who is a mechanic and would do it for just the cost of parts. I bought the parts they told me I needed for about 120$ just some hoses and all new housing. I have had ZERO problems with this car since. It runs like new, there was no extra surprises. Thankyou so much for looking over my car for me and not taking advantage of a young girl who has no knowledge of cars. You guys saved me so much money. Although I didnt have you guys do the labor, I am still incredibly pleased with the services you provided me and I will be back for any problems I have in the future.

Very amazing place. Work on my car quickly although they were completely full. They were great with actually showing you what is wrong with the transmission. Called to give updates while working on vehicle. Very Professional, I will definitely suggest them for anyone who have a problem with a transmission. They rebuilt mines and the car is running great now :)

MY COMPANY VEHCILE WAS TOWED THERE AFTER IT BLEW THE TRANSMISSON 10 GRAND TWO TRANMISSIONS LATER NOTHING BUT ISSUES HAD TO THREATEN TO SUE BEFORE ANYTHING WAS DONE CALLED UP NOTHING BUT EXCUSES THEN WHEN THEY FINALLY GET A COMPANY IN NY TO DO THE REPAIR THEY SEND THEM A BROKEN TRASNMISSION WAS WITH OUT A VAN FOR ALOMOST A YEAR DUE TO THERE NEGLIGENCE AND INCOMPETANCE. EVERY TIME I CALLED IT WAS AN EXCUSE STAY AWAY DO NOT USE

Thanks to Shawn and his crew, my 97 chevy Blazer lost all gears except for 1st and reverse. Originally priced at $3000, I wasn't able to pay the $3000. Shawn helped me in anyway possible and was able to rebuild my transmission for a fraction of that. The courtesy and professionalism is what moved me to write this review. What great service. Had a 2002 Nissan pathfinder making a noise and was diagnosed quickly and accurately. The woman at the front desk was thorough and friendly and Shawn was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Will be back again!

Took my Jeep to my local mechanic. While he could identify the common Jeep problem, he recommended I take it to Cottman. Cottman provided great service and fixed other issues at an excellent discount. They stayed in touch with me about the Jeep and answered my questions without any attitude. My Jeep was with them for a while due to the parts being on back order. They acknowledged the inconvenience and we're excited to get my Jeep back to me asap. It's clear that they care about the work they are doing. I am grateful for their professionalism, communication, and service.

I am not sure to place further confidence in dealing with Cottman in Emmaus. I was referred to them by Monro Muffler and while Monro is not responsible for the behavior of Cottman, I truly wonder if this will jeopardize the integrity of Monro's discretion.After two and a half weeks (and $3000+ later) of having my front differentials repaired and transmission and to look at whatever was causing a burning smell near the front right tire, I was told to bring the car back for a follow up, upon which they would also do an undercoating for $75 and I supplied the paint. Also, while driving back for the follow up, the car continued to smell like something was burning. I was assured that it would be checked and taken care of. The mechanic suspected it had something to do with the brake and they could fix it there. I picked the jeep up one week later after speaking to Shawn earlier in the week, reminding him of the burning smell and also the right turn signal was not working. When I picked the car up, I received my bill for $200 which read, "check[ed] for burning smell and undercoating. Shawn was not quite forthcoming failing to tell me the $75 was the hourly rate! "My misunderstanding", as Shawn put it all back on me. No apology, no follow up on a clear explanation of the work or how to turn this unpleasant experience into a favorable outcome. I assumed all was working fine and the total was for the repair and undercoating, because at the cashier desk, they explained they repaired a clogged hose. I drove the car back to Bethlehem, and when I hit a speed of over 40 mph, the car shuttered and I smelled the burning smell. I immediately drove the car into Monro's parking lot where the manager saw me and came running over because the right front of my car was smoking. We questioned what was actually done at Cottman. The mechanics at Monro were disappointed to hear what happened and contacted Shawn at Cottman who told the mechanic they did not perform any repair on the brake, even though they said they would, because they didn't want to take business away from Monro. Nothing of this sort was disclosed to me! (Funny, though, Cottman had no problem with taking away business from Monro by doing the undercoat!!)As a business owner with a large customer base (with who I may wish to share my Cottman experience), I respect my clients, doing what I say I will do and do not mislead them. I am just tired of shady, slick and sneaky business people who lack ethics and take advantage of the lay people.

I made an appointment to have my transmission fluid change. Then when I went for my appointment they told me I would have an hour to two hour wait before they could do it. Their response was they were busy. So my question is, why would you schedule an appointment if you don't have time to do it. I will never go back.

I'm so grateful for excellent & professional service that Cottman gave me when I decided to get work done on my transmission., thanks to Shawn & Kelly. I live in Pottstown they made their business to get me home & back thanks to their courtesy transportation. Very happy with work that was done on my car, also you get 10 day check up on the work they completed if your not satisfied or any additional questions. Thank you!!

Great service and expertise! Cottman located and installed a good used engine within my budget in a short time frame. Shawn was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions patiently. My Honda Pilot is running so well I highly recommend them!
