Have been taking my older car here for over 4 years now. They have kept it running like new. They have never tried to weasel me with a "Johnson Rod" type problem. Prices have always been great, but that might be because I have an older car which he can source refurbished parts for maybe...I've had one problem with him that I was able to work out a deal with because he's a honest local guy.He has one other guy working with him who used to own the shop (used to be Hoxters Auto). I took it to him before Bill took over.When you call he always picks up. Good customer service skillsHe has his own tow truck.

I was referred to Bill at Bill's Automotive 3 years ago when my mechanic couldn't fix a major problem with my van. This is an example of "everything happens for a reason" because he is a great mechanic and honest like my former mechanic is. Just recently I had to have my intake manifold gasket repaired on my van and in spite of being ready to take a long holiday weekend, he put 10 hours into fixing my van before he left. I couldn't believe I only had the rental car for 1 day. While he had the engine out of the van, he changed the belt and the thermostat (hard to get to otherwise). I feel like I am driving a new car, no more leaks on the driveway and I think I am getting better gas mileage. I feel privileged to have met Bill and fortunate to know that my van is in good hands. I dropped off my car for service on a Thursday night, and checked the business hours posted on the door, which read "8-6 Monday through Friday". Friday, at 3 pm, Sue from the office called to tell me my car was finished and ready to be picked up. I told her that my husband got home from work "between 4-5" and that we'd be there to pick up the car "between 5-6" (picturing the work schedule posted on their door, and giving her ample opportunity to ask me to come earlier.) Sue responded, "Ok, see you then."We showed up at 5:35pm, and the business was closed, and the gates were closed with my car inside! We called, left a message, then called the Downingtown police, trying to get a hold of the owner, because they are closed Sat and Sun, and we needed the car to get to a friend's daughter's funeral in another town for Saturday.The police told us that sometimes another business within the gates opens on Sat...so we didn't leave for our weekend trip, missed our friend's daughter's funeral, and went by on Saturday to get our car. We left a voicemail telling Sue and Bill that we had the car and that we'd be by at 6 pm Monday to pay our bill.Do you know that Sue had the audacity to call our home on Monday and ask us to pay over the phone becuase they close at 5:30?!!!!! She even went so far as to try and recreate our phone conversation...lying, she said, "I told you we closed at 5:30"....this is a distinct falsehood, because I was careful in what I said, and remember precisely that I had said, "between 5 and 6".When my husband called, Bill proceeded to argue with my husband, telling him that I got it wrong and that he "was right here next to my wife when she told your wife that we close at 5:30." So, not only does this business owner not have the professionalism to apologize for any miscommunication, but both he and Sue have the lack of grace and lack of professionalism to ARGUE with customers over MISTAKES THEY THEMSELVES MAKE.....AND call their customers liars.For a small town, small business, they really made a mistake, as all of their work comes from word of mouth, and I will be sure to tell everyone I know how rude and unprofessional and untrustworthy they are.Had he said, "I don't know what happend, but I am sorry it happened to you", they'd have our business. Now? They have lost our business and all of our friends and family in the Downingtown/Chester County area. I will be writing a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau, as well as the local papers. I suggest that Bill get Sue some customer service training.

I,ve been taking our family car, and work vehicles to Bill's for a couple of years . I'm very satisfied with his service, prices, and his very friendly attitude . there a great neighborhood auto shop.
