I had an amazing experience! I was driving on the highway and my heat shield started to come off so I quickly pulled over in to this place of business. Everyone was super helpful and kind. They temporarily fixed it for me and then fully fixed it for me a few days later when all the parts came in. Almost 2 years ago I happened to get a flat on the same highway and pulled right into the same place and even had a great experience back then.I highly recommend coming here. The prices are reasonable, they are very patient, very knowledgeable, very efficient, and very friendly. Brian and Selena are awesome!

I get an RV inspected here and have never had an issue. Since I don't drive the vehicle many miles the tires don't get much tread wear. So, they passed for many years but they let me know when the rubber started to age out and I had them replaced. Old brittle tires are an important safety concern, particularly on a motorcoach, and I appreciate ATB's attention to details like this.

Brian was friendly and did my sub frame installation plus inspection and emissions. I was pleasantly surprised with the price. Everything in the rear of the car needed to be pulled off to install it and the prices for installation online showed to be almost twice what I was charged for my whole visit. I will be coming here for all my issues in the future. I was surprised by some of the reviews so I wanted to be sure to share a positive experience. There are only so many good honest mechanics and Brian seems to me to be one.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance

Called and the lady was super unhelpful and had an Attitude cause I didn't know my tires size. I said, is there a way you could look it up? She's like fine, what years your car? She had caught an Attitude for me asking for help. Good luck with this one, guys.

Brian has been one of the best people to do business with in my entire life. 100% recommend this mechanic. He's taken care of all the vehicles in my whole family for about 20 years. Not once have we had any issues with his services and he's always gone the extra mile to take care of us. He's very honest and will always give you his best advice in regards to anything concerning your vehicle. His prices are very reasonable and fair. On top of all this, he's just a hell of a guy and I always have a good time talking with him!

I am one person who values the services of local businesses - key reason why I went in this shop rather than a shop in Pottstown that I had visited for over 10 years until I moved to Douglassville. However, some of the personalities at these businesses do not always welcome all customers especially if they do not look or speak like them.I certainly would NOT recommend this shop to anyone within my social scope for any business reasons.I took my everyday car in this shop for a state inspection and the tech (s) said that I needed two rear brakes and two tires for the passenger side. I also purchased an oil change. They were selling the tires for $115 each. I asked if they had any other tires at a lower cost and that was it. The tech's first response was that I was being cheap and a tire at a lower price would be junk tires. I told them to only perform the oil and brakes changes and I was going to change the tires somewhere else and come back for the inspection sticker. They agreed and I paid for the services and drove off. The tires were changed and my wife returned to get the stickers and the tech refused to place the stickers on the car stating that the tires were only rotated, and one tire was in the wrong direction along with telling my wife how cheap I'm being and that I am getting junk parts. I checked and one tire was a directional and it was inside out. I took it back to the tire shop and they removed and reinstalled it properly.I went back to American tire and brake, they said that I had to pay for a new inspection. I told them that I was not going to pay twice for inspection within two days on the same car. After a few twists and turns between the shop clerk and techs, the clerk asked for my registration and insurance. She took the stickers and went out to the car. She removed the old stickers and left them on my dashboard and placed the new ones. She then printed and handed me a receipt and off I went. NEVER GOING BACK TO THEM. They stand right in the garage and talk about customers while they are just behind a door and can hear them. The clerk could be a better person, but her work environment is very unprofessional.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Oil change

Brian is an honest Mechanic that always has time to fit me in in a pinch. Has never done anything but charge me fair prices. He even does small jobs for little to no cost. I have never found a better place to take my car in my 22 years of owning cars!

Awesome service, great attention to detail.I recently had my front struts replaced and my car required some additional adjustments afterwards. Brian and his team were able to diagnose and make the repairs in a timely and cost effective manner. I am already a repeat customer, and will continue to do so.Give the smaller shops a chance. There s much less overhead and more room for honest to good service.

Not sure who David Canterbury is, but I'm willing to bet there are two sides to that tire story. I've been going to American Tire & Brake for years. I've brought them my Monte Carlo, both my Mustangs, and my Jeep Patriot (which just can't seem to stop breaking down). Brian and Ethan and everyone else there are honest, they work quick, give it to you straight, they don't try to up-sell you, and they truly do charge only for the labor they put in - and sometimes for even less than that, if they feel it could've been done quicker. How many other shops have you known that do that? Too many shops charge way more in labor time than they actually put in, because "the book says it's this many hours". Each mechanic there is honest, and I've always, ALWAYS paid the lowest price for repairs here, with the highest quality of work. I've had these guys replace compressors, alternators, control arms, brakes, rotors, rear end components, and a lot of other bigger repairs, and they've always made it affordable and fast. I had the coolant housing done by Brian, and unfortunately (due to poor manufacturer design) it blew just months later. He replaced it, no charge, no questions ask, same day.

My car broke down on my way to drill (I am in the National Guard), and luckily enough i was right near these fellas. I knew about them through a friend who has been going to them for some time now, and I was damn near lucky enough to have broken down close enough to them to get my car there. I waited until 8am when they opened, and as soon as the employees arrived and opened shop they were instantly by my side trying to help me with my problem despite their busy schedule for the day. After waiting a few hours for the parts to be delivered (I was stranded until my car got fixed), they got everything done for me as quickly as human possible to get me back on the road, and for an extremely fair price. I'm not from the area, but I will definitely be going back to these friendly fellas for future work i plan to have done on my '04 Monte Carlo. A great experience, and highly recommended.

Brian always shoots straight and does what has to be done. Appreciate all he has done for me from arguing with insurance companies to help me out, and providing great service at a great price.

Do not bring your car here. My grandmother has been there 4 times in the past couple months for a cooling issue. Turns out, the "technician" put the thermostat in upside down, breaking the housing. Instead of coming clean and telling her what the problem was, they instead tried to charge her $1700 for a new water pump. They were trying to cover up the fact that their tech screwed up. Do not bring your car here. They are dishonest and will try and rip you off.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I have tried to reach out to the owner several times before finally deciding to write this. I have never had an experience with American Tire for service. My experience is technically with 422 Exchange. Do your homework and you will find 422 Exchange does not have a lot with cars for sale. The cars are located at American tire, so if you read the reviews it will seem the owner is friendly, honest, great service, etc. 422 Exhange, zero information, reviews, nothing. So you are lead to believe you are dealing with an honest, hardworking business owner. I can see now why anyone who wrote a poor review is answered with "no name "never did any service ". This is technicalities would be true, only if the owner listed your sale through his business he works at with legitimate positive reviews. However, do not buy a car from him! This is a reasonable fair warning and I did not make it a mission to get a cheap car without expectation I would have some issues to deal with. But what I certainly did not expect was after purchasing the car, wow from nice to ride is the only word I feel I can put here. Very defensive, just not a nice guy. I took the car home, but was unable to drive it for quite a few days following finding out I had a concussion from the car accident I was in (hence the reason of purchasing). Finally when able to drive, I immediately noticed an overwhelming smell engulfing the interior of gas/exhaust smell, so bad it made me feel sick. After reaching Brian, he was not very pleasant but told me to drop off the car. Now this is were I realize that the car is not sold under American. I dropped the car off at the address on my paperwork and although it doesn't seem right, I just got over a concussion, my memory was a little off. When I realized he has not called to let me know about the car, his disruptive tone of voice tells me the car is in the wrong place. I go get the car, drop it off at American. Every day for 5 days I had to call to see what was going on. Not 1 time, did Brian or anyone call me to let me know what was wrong, how long the car would be there, you get the idea. But when I called the girl who answered the phone was pleasant but just was unable to help. I finally get a ride there to find out what is going on, only to be told it needed a switch, and he had to order it. It was only after many calls, stopping by and continued follow up this part seemed to be ordered on the fifth day from Reading which should only take a day. Not sure why it took 6 days and then be told they had to pick up the part. This was supposed to fix the problem. I didn't expect free anything, but you can't drive a car that engulfs you in fumes that make you sick, just seems only fair for the seller not to sell it that way. I finally pick up the car and it only took minutes to realize this was not resolved. After reaching out again I knew the owner was on vacation but by the next day the car was completely dead. Within that next week, I replaced the battery, the wipers, because they literally fell off first time I turned them on, the list goes on. I left another message for Brian because I just wanted to know what was wrong with the car. Needless to say many calls, many messages, no response. I took the car to another place who ended replacing about 1200 in bad parts causing the smell. Within a few days from that, the entire engine died, and it needed to be replaced. To sum this up. He may be very good at running American tire, but do not buy a car from him. He does not look at the car and if he does he just wants you to buy it, take it off the lot and even if you dont make it home, it's your problem. I believe he feels it's fair because he wrote on your paper "AS IS". No one just because they don't have a ton of money should ever be treated with such deception. I tried to reach out many times to the owner before writing this, but no response. I really hope to not see the typical response from this owner that dont exist because I would hate to put all the proof on here and be in touch with the BBB.

My dad was coming here for years. I started coming here after my dad told me this is where I need to go after having problems with another automotive service. Not only were they friendly, but they were quick and knowledgable of what was wrong with my car. I still come here 3 years after my dad has passed and am never disappointed in the service or prices.Services: Transmission, Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Oil change

Did the bait and switch on me with the price of a set of tires, the owner shows me a tire with aggressive tread and then shows me another tire with less aggressive tread saying he could " sell me a set of those for around the same price " the owner required 100.00 deposit down, which should have been a red flag for me, real shops don't require deposits on tires, the tires where going on my Ford F150, not like specialty tires for a Ferrari, when I go to get them put on there is a 250.00 difference, when I decline to buy the tires, he takes my deposit for a 100.00 saying there is a restocking fee, when I ask for the company name to verify the restocking fee he becomes belligerent with me, total scam artist must have financial problems to rip off customers. In 24 years of being a mechanic myself, I have never heard of a restocking fee on tires, auto parts sometimes, but never tires. The receptionist was so rude I almost backed out before driving to get them installed, but the owner is that way, and the employees definitely follow his lead, never had a experience like this buying tires, I should have went to a corporate company instead of a little hole in the wall garage on the side of the road.

I made the worst decision to purchase a vehicle from this lot. The car is beyond a lemon, it has been in and out of mechanic shops. The last mechanic tells me the axle was loose and could have been a disaster. Please do your research on the vehicle, pay and run the carfax report and definitely get a second opinion. If the girl in the skinny shorts is around she is a complete uninformed mess. Spend your $$ wisely.

My tire blew out just at the light before the shop. (I work on cars, do construction work... so I'm not just another silly girl when it comes to cars.) I was unable to break my lugs to get my spare on so I hobbled the car into their lot. I asked if they could atleast break my lugs and I'll change the tire as I didnt have alot of money on me. The gentleman at the desk told me to bring the car to the doors, he came out, got the tire off for me and helped me out with a used tire till I can replace it. If that's not A+++ customer service I dont know what is. I didnt catch his name but Thank you do much

Been going here for years never had any problems. I had something custom done on one of my older cars I used to own and they did it on the fly and one of the mechanics lent me their personal car until it was fixed.

Completely unprofessional will never take a vehicle there again or recommend anyone to take theirs to this place. And their response to this is a lie I took my Chevy 1500 for inspection a year ago and it wasn t returned to me for two weeks. They can t even own up to the fact that they did wrong they just lie and say I want a customer?!

10/10 wouldn t recommend buying a car from them I just bought one Monday and 2 days later my lights on my dash started flickering at me and the rpm s were jumping all around I paid a decent amount of money for the vehicle for it just to give me problems 3 days later they were not completely honest about the problems with the car there is bad ball joints passenger side door doesn t open from the inside over was just a bad experience they replaced the alternator for free I mean it was also used so who knows how long it will last before it has to be replaced again I have a family and can t afford to dump extra money into a vehicle these things shouldn t be happening after not even a week of having the car

I bought a 1999 Ford Expedition from 422 Exchange and had nothing but problems with it ever since.I tried contacting the owner Brian and he never wanted to talk to me I was going through 3rd party with the secretary and finally i finally found out that he owned American tire and brakes I stopped by and dropped the truck off 3 times and nothing was done.At the end of the day I'm $600 into the truck and still having problems!!!! I also got the title for the truck back from PennDOT 3 times with different issues and just got it back from PennDOT for the 4th time and they said all of the fee's aren't paid, now I have to send the title back with $42 to finally get the title in my name.....If you're looking for a good vehicle this may not be the place for you!!!!!!
