I had my Toyota Tundra at Chester County Transmissions in August 2023 for some work on the transmission. The task at hand was to drill out the rusted bolts on the transmission pan and the transmission plug that was rusted/seized. I traveled 1 hour and 15 minutes to this shop to give it a shot because the quotes I received in my local area from other transmission shops were ridiculous. The other shops wanted to just sell me a new transmission when in reality, nothing was wrong with the internal workings of the transmission. Andy went ABOVE AND BEYOND explaining everything to me. Him and his staff were very friendly with every interaction I had. They had my truck for a few weeks, it was not a rush job and I was perfectly fine with that. The technician that was assigned to this job was very crafty with getting these rusted bolts out. Along the way, they also discovered O-rings that were leaking and a misc. ground wire that was broke. Everything was fixed up and in total saved me over $5,000 based on the quotes I received from shops local to me. I will for sure bring any vehicles I ever own needing transmission work, to Andy and his crew, even if it is a further drive for me. I highly recommended this shop. This shop is the best! I always have a great experience be it my car or my mom s. The staff is polite, informative, affable and professional in every sense of the word. Reasonable prices too. They update you periodically of the progress of the work being done. Clean environment!!!! And it even gets better if you re a nurse. They care about their customers. I brought my diesel Volkswagen to this shop for diagnostics and service in May 2022. I clearly explained my car trouble to them and subsequently was told it needed a new/rebuilt transmission with a quote of work to be done in 21 to 30 days at a cost of near $3,500.00Over the following 77 days I placed frequent calls to the service station to keep myself informed about the work in progress. I remained patient and was under the impression that this work was necessary to fix my vehicle.I picked up my car on August 9, 2022 and paid the bill in full at the amount of $6,876.19, double the initial quote.My car trouble worsened as now the vehicle shuts off while driving at random.I returned my car for them to service on October 26, 2022, as the work done was under warranty. I was told it would cost $150.00 for another diagnosis which was then waived because I was told it just needed a new battery quoted costing with installation around $500. Incidentally, the six year old battery had passed a test on September 10 and October 20 just a week prior. I towed it and got the battery installed elsewhere for around $250.00After several attempts to remedy my car s problems through Chester County Transmissions I m at a loss: the work they have done to my vehicle has worsened its drivability.Furthermore they passed my vehicles inspection without filling the brake fluid which I then bout and did myself as the dashboard was beeping and lighting up.I contacted them about a refund and got denied. My car is essentially totaled. It is my belief that they don t know what they re doing fully, at least to my car, and they re overcharging for work that s not quality.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

Andy and his team are very honest, know what they re doing, and put the customer s needs and affordability first. I would not hesitate to refer my friends and family to Andy and his team. And supporting a small business is always a huge plus, in my opinion! Thank you!

Updated review, I was afforded the opportunity to work here over the summer and couldn't have enjoyed myself more. The learning experience and the great work environment, and that's on top of making some money! Very glad I was able to work here over the summer and it was great seeing from the inside, just how honest the workmanship is!Extremely good service and took care of me and my car very very well!! Would highly recommend checking these guys out for your own vehicles!!

Andy and his team did an amazing job getting my vehicle back to its original state mechanically. I truly appreciate the time and effort it took to find out what was wrong and take care of it. They actually figured out where my vehicle was leaking oil and were able to stop it, when no one else took the time. This is hands down the best place for vehicle repairs. Called Chester County Transmissions regarding a suspect issue I m having with my 2011 Subaru Outback, that could be related to the CVT transmission. Speaking with Andy, he gave me his time and knowledge to help isolate an issue. Hoping I don t have to call back but I do appreciate him taking the time to assist.

My recent experience at Chester County transmissions was a good one. Andy and Rich in the office took the time to explain my problem and the solution to repair my truck. The work was done professionally and my truck is working very well. I highly recommend them for honest dependable service.

The people here are very friendly and will work within your budget. I brought a 2003 Acura there with over 300,000 miles told them that I only had $700 to invest in it and they took care of the issues and stayed within budget. The second time I brought it there they were honest and said it would cost about 5,000 for engine work and a new transmission at which point I decided just to buy another car

They just completed a front/rear gear swap on my lifted 2017 Ram 2500. I needed to swap the gears to a different ratio to relieve the stress on my drive train, because of 37 tires. This wasn t a simple or quick easy job by any means! It was a tough and very technical job with a lot of heavy lifting. They are extremely knowledgeable & passionate about their craft. Andy and his team were all very professional & courteous during the entire build. I was kept informed of the progress & technical details were thoroughly explained, which kept my mind at ease.Seriously, look no further if you need transmission, differential repairs/upgrades or anything for that matter. They were swapping a motor in another vehicle while I was there. Having truck used for work and play will take it toll on anything. I contacted Rich and spoke to Rich about the issues I was having with my 68RFE transmission. After setting it up to drop the truck off Tuesday morning and speaking to Andy a bit, I received a phone call from Andy Wednesday with a breakdown on what was happening. And a quote for getting my truck fixed up and back on the road. We also went with a few upgrades along the way to improve what the manufacturer should have done from the start. Rich and Andy were both great to deal with. Getting my truck turned around, rebuilt, and on the road by Friday. Excellent service and work, with very fair pricing compared to what you'll end up with elsewhere.Look forward to working with them if/when the time comes for more upgrades.

These guys are awesome! They work on all of my cars, from simple inspections and brake jobs to complicated electrical repairs. American or import, they can handle it. Don't be fooled by the name, they handle all general car repairs, and if there is something they can't do, Andy will refer you to another expert who can!Also, if you haven't actually used them for any work personally, you probably shouldn't be leaving reviews. Get a life people.

Knowledgeable staff with customer service as a priority. My issue was diagnosed quickly and transmission completely disassembled in a timely manner. From there I was given a breakdown of the cause of failure, fixes which included updates for my transmission, options for ways I wanted to proceed including different payment options. Chester County Trans also took the time to see my vehicle was due for inspection, taking care of the issues after getting the ok. They had me back on the road with a great running transmissions and safe vehicle. Knowledgeable techs and great customer service! I will certainly be returning.

Andy and his team of pros have taken care of my BMWs on multiple occasions, everything from getting inspection and emission to doing my air conditioner recharge replacing my brakes and rotors, they did my lower control arms too! Andy and Terra have been family friends for a long time. Just recently my family started going to them for our needs. Just recently had my car inspected at Chester County Transmissions. Andy did an amazing job of explaining exactly what was going on with my car and why it needed to be repaired and what parts of the car might need fixed in the future. Their rates are fair and they work fast.I would strongly recommend Chester County Transmissions.

Hi I ve bin dealing with rich and Andy for a little over 2 years now . I don t say this lightly when I say they made my dreams comeTrue with my high school truck . They rebuilt my transmission and made it to my specs unreal honestly . I went to many other shops with the challenge and they respectfully declined. But rich and Andy and there team took on the job and, I ve never driven a more solid car since .it shifts perfectly and has many gains due to the larger pan and hardend parts they used essentially a bulletproof trans. , now Iam bringing them another project vehicle and. Can t wait to see how well it comes out as well these guys are the real deal and if your cars your baby these are your guys .thank you chester county transmission keep up the good work

I have personally never had them work on my vehicle, but I know a couple of people who have. One friend of mine spent over 2500$ to have his transmission and clutch replaced. While this might sound pretty good, his truck spent the next two months going back and forth to the shop. First, the new clutch release bearing failed. Next, the shift linkage in the "new" transmission failed. This is unacceptable. Any time a vehicle has to go back to the shop to repair the repairs it's bad enough. When it has to go back repeatedly, there is a good chance that you can never really trust it again. I have a couple of stories like this involving Chester county transmission, and they don't get any better.STAY AWAY!!!!

Great Job, Great Service! The Job was done right and quickly. I had my SUV that was having a transmission problem towed to Chester County Transmissions in Thorndale. It was a few days before a family vacation and we were worried that we were going to be without transportation. I spoke with Andy and he assured me that they would look at the vehicle right away and fix it quickly. They took a look at the vehicle and found out that it needed a Transmission rebuild (some of the gears had basically disintegrated inside and there was metal everywhere) He said do not worry we have a mechanic ready to rebuild the transmission. Just the next day I got a call and they told me I could come and pick up the vehicle. I asked what the total transmission repair cost was and it was less than what I was quoted. It's been several months and everything is working great. I also love the fact that their warranty covers their transmissions. I would highly recommend Chester County Transmissions If anyone in the Coatesville, Downingtown, Thorndale are in need of transmission repair service. They have all the bases covered, courtesy, knowledge, speed and price. I could not have asked for a better experience.

Chester County Transmissions is my go to for any and all auto-repair. They have always provided me with excellent and courteous service, welcoming me as an old friend when I walk through the door. I tell them a time line and a budget and they do everything they can to stay within my parameters. The issues that the previous reviewers shared with google were issues I never had with CCT. They rebuilt my engine, put in a new drive chain, repaired my supercharger, basically overhauled my whole car. It runs like a dream and I couldn't be happier. I return for check ups but not once have I had an issue with any of the work that they have done and from the moment I purchased it, it has only been touched by CCTs dedicated employees and I won't have it any other way.

What a great place!! Our dealership was not able to accommodate working on a 2007 BMW M5 but Andy at Chester County Transmissions went out of his way to help our customer. They handled everything with kit gloves and the utmost professionalism. Thank you guys!!

I would not trust anyone else to service my 1984 Pontiac Fiero. They do an excellent job with my car in this shop. Very knowledgeable. Andy and Pete are great guys!!

I went in for an inspection, no emissions needed only drove the car about 1500 miles since last years insp with them. They ruined a lug nut removing it so I had to pay for a new one. What should have been about 40 bucks cost me around 70 bucks. I feel this place is over priced. Don't take my word for it, take theirs....

Recently had the gears changed I m my truck. Great service and knowledge of the work they performed. Truck runs great since the swap. I recommend this shop for any automotive work. Staff is excellent. Treat you like family.

They are great! My car was having trouble with the transmission and they kept it for a week to test drive it for me, free of charge! Will definitely go back when something else on my car gives up.

My experience with Chester County Trans has been nothing but pleasant.
