About 2 months ago, I paid Hecks approximately $650 to replace the high pressure oil lines on my 2003 7.3 diesel pickup. Once I was called and told that the work was completed, I had a friend give me a ride to pick up my truck. Upon picking it up, the truck would not start. I checked the dipstick, and there was no oil showing on the dipstick. Due to the 7.3 being a HEUI engine, oil pressure is required for the engine to run. No oil=no start. I brought this to Hecks Attention, and they apologized up and down and filled the truck up with oil. After a lot of work, the truck fired. I talked with the owner of the shop and made him aware of how pissed I was that they would hand a truck back to a customer with no oil in it. I explained how luckily, by the design of my engine, it wouldnt run without oil.....but that a lot of the other Cummins, Duramax and Powerstrokes will still run with low, or no oil, at least for a little bit until they seize up. I explained how this could ruin a customers truck, as well as his reputation as a shop with something as simple as having no oil showing on the dipstick. He apologized again up and down and agreed to knock off an hours labor of an upcoming injector job I was going to have him do.I have since sold that truck, but if I needed any more work done on a diesel, I would still take it to Hecks again. Despite the problem of no oil showing on the dipstick, the owner handled the problem promptly, courteously, and professionally, and for that, I still would absolutely recommend this shop.
