At this time they are doing construction so it looks s mess, however the inside has received a makeover. I was impressed with how little it takes to really change the look of a place. They have laundry and it is cheap and works well their fitness room is pretty good, and they offer breakfast And coffee for free along with Beautiful views and easy access to the river.Rooms: The rooms are large however my room was less than desired due to several t things such as the bathroom heater/fan did not work, my actual heating/cooling unit was janky, the screen to my bottom floor unlocked window was half way taken off which was disturbing, and my biggest complaint is that the bed shee t s had hair on them all over like t hey had literally not remade the Bed with clean sheets . Very gross.Nearby activities: Located right next to the Columbia River, the department of motor vehicles is just down the road along with the dalles visitor cen t er the dalles dam. ,and the bridge to go to Washington state .

My family and I rented the family suite it had plenty room for all of us the one bedroom had 2 twin beds. We had a living room with jacuzzi tub and a sofa/ bed couch. Was nice for us adults to have our own bedroom! Could use a second bathroom with all of us but it worked. We had a little pato deck looking over to the pool. There is a restaurant bar there but we did not get anything from there kids wanted pizza hut which was delivered to our room. Room was clean floor could use a mopping. All in all was comfortable stay We did not have breakfast there because McDonald's was very close by. I definitely stay again. Staff was nice checking in and housekeeping checked with us upon leaving if we were done. Could use an extra trash can with all the kiddos! We will be back!

I am in town from billings, montana for a family gathering. I am beyond impressed with everything in this establishment. Even though it's finishing a renovation the hotel is running smoothly. I work for a hilton property as a front desk agent, so I have high standards, and they meet the mark here. Kristina is wonderful and was great when making my reservation. Doug was beyond amazing. He went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. I have a saying for the guests I work with, I want them to feel like they're coming home. The shilo inn made me feel this way. Great view, great service, great rooms. Recommend this location hands down.

When we checked in, we were told the pool was closed because of a leak. Come to find out when we checked out, the pool was just fine. I guess the night lady just didn't wanna deal with it??? Only had 3 towels in our room for 4 people to shower. Went down to ask for another towel, and was told she didn't have a key to get into the closet us another one so oh well?!? Location was pretty awesome, got to walk right up to the river on all the cool rock formations. Sleeping there though, sound travels through the walls, so when the neighbors decided to continue to go in and out at all hours into the night, we heard the doors slam every time.

Location may have been nice, it definitely would have been better to sleep out there than inside. But we choose packing up and leaving instead. The room It looked nice when we walked in. Looking around was an eye-opening of disgustingness. Simple things no hot water in the shower ( sinks yes shower no) before checking in asked if they had a pool,l was told yes. Just not told it was an outdoor unopened pool so couldn't be used. Our Room, had nowhere, to hang any clothes let alone a coat . Once the fleas, showed themselves we couldn't leave fast enough. The good side the woman working at the front desk refunded our money without me having to ask. She also said she could have changed our room if I'd told her. To what..... did they have flea free rooms with hot water and choose not to give us one of those to start with!?? Normally I speak with the general manager before posting a Review as bad as this. I left my name and number and requested her to call me the next day still waiting so posting without speaking to her.Rooms: Awful unless you like sleeping with fleas and taking cold showers. Beds would have been comfortable if it had felt safe to lay on them.Noteworthy details: Don't risk it. They could give me a free week's stay during prime season and I would not stay there. If I couldn't have gotten into the Comfort inn across the street (or anywhere clean) I'd slept in My car or driven home in the middle of the night

On Sept 17/18th the hotel is under construction very loud still working sawing nailing at 7:30pm Sunday night both rooms smelled like urine lots of dog stains on the carpet. They are directing guests to the check in desk through the construction with air/electrical lines everywhere and cutting tile 15 feet from check in and we had to wait on chop saw to get checked in I feel sorry for the workers at check in desk witch is a fold up table in the middle of the construction dust this hotel is the worst stay and we travel extensively . Don t stay here we had to buy Lysol to spray our carpet and bathroom as smell was horrible . Should have ate the $250 and bounced workers are great just sad they are asked to work in these unsafe conditionsTimFollow up Sept 19thmanager replied yes it was unsafe just that one day? but they ve made safety changes however they are remodeling and it s just the way it is there s nothing they can do? We disagreed as I believe there s always something that can be done to make it safe for the guests I suggested moving the check in area out by the restaurant entrance? Or the second entry lobby area? Apparently that s not possible? Or provide the employees and guests with ear and eye protection around the tile saws, chop saws, scaffolding, wires, hoses, etc OSHA has now opened an investigation (OSHA reference number is 63052)I believe there s always something you can do to keep the public safe especially our most vulnerable elderly and young children. Not even skilled tradesmen without proper eye, ear and respiratory protection should be allowed to work in the center of these types of job sites..Stay safe

Room, location, and view was fine but don't waste your time with the restaurant/bar that is located within the hotel. The bartender/host lady was unbelievably rude to my group and I when we went to order food. She cut us off mid sentence with a hand in our faces to tell us that she will not take our orders. There were four people ahead of us with orders already in and apparently she is so bad at her job that four people was too much to handle so she just flat out refused us and turned us away. People like her shouldn't work with the public, she completely turned us off of the entire experience. Hire better staff.Noteworthy details: Rude staff

This property has a nice, airy atmosphere and a million dollar view, wow... of Dalles Dam, Dalles Bridge, Columbia River, water fowl, an old Indian Shaker church and outbuilding remnants. While the property is outdated in some areas, they are upgrading and rebranding in the Fall, hence some construction going on but not on the weekend when we were there. We'd stay here again. Turns out we were in a room where upgrades had began so our flooring was new, laminate. The bed was comfy and the room was well-cleaned. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet room with lots of privacy. Easy access to highway and gas station. This is a hidden gem that needs some polishing, but I'm excited to see the property get its facelift as it has good bones, just needs some TLC, which seems to be in the works.

Rooms are okay, definitely not the highest and and definitely not the worst I've ever seen. Prices are decent, staff was friendly enough. I can't comment on how well the staff cleans your room when you stay there because I typically hang a do not disturb sign and don't bother having them clean the room during my stay (I typically just do that myself when I stay at hotels, and I'll contact the front desk if I need new towels). Location is nice and the price for a room is good.

More like Affordable Disappointment . Yikes. Where to start, the hotel is first off very outdated and old all around. It seems they spent whatever money they had for renovations in the bar/lounge area and completely ignored the rooms. While it was just a place for us to crash for the night while in the area, everything about it was disappointing. Stopped into the lounge for dinner on a a Saturday evening but it was more or less empty. For some reason though it took 36 minutes for our seemingly simple food. No apology. No explanation. And the cherry was that the order was wrong. Lol. But we were both so hungry by that point we just ate it. Fine. Whatever. Getting to the room, we found no body wash or conditioner. The dispenser was no working properly and barely dispenser shampoo. So we used that to clean up since we couldn t wait to get out of there. On the way out, I stopped to use the hallway restroom, it was more or less blocked off with the exception of one toilet which was clogged. The other 2 urinals and second toilet were marked as broken and out of service.I remember that Shilo used to be a great value for what you got. My have times changed.

Nobody cleans your room. No clean towels. Had to call the front desk to have some delivered to our room after a long days work. Nobody takes the garbage out. We threw it in the hall then someone took it away. No hand soap. Only one light in the room. Laminated floors that probably haven't been mopped in God knows how long. Would've gave it a one star rating but the air conditioner worked really well. They have a restaurant here but we never went there as the prices are way to high. As for the hotel, you get what you pay for. As for the restaurant, you just get taken.

One of my favorite hotels, the staff is always friendly, showers are hot, water pressure is great. The place is a little outdated, but the rooms are always clean, and its nice to have the little balcony in the back to relax on.The restaurant is fantastic, it was a shock walking in and seeing it completely remodeled, but it was nice.Only fault we had was coming down late Saturday night for a nice meal and getting blasted with super loud bass/music, and it was really hard for us to enjoy the rest of the meal. It would have been cool to have still had the separate dining area away from all that. I'll bring ear plugs next time haha.Honestly though, I love the entire place and always look forward to my stays here.

We never even got a room after we waited at least 5 minutes at 1 in the morning. The person at the front desk was so swamped that it just wasn't worth waiting any longer. The room rate suggests that the hotel will be clean and well kept. Unfortunately, the lobby has not been maintained. The carpet is stained and much of the paint is chipped. The chandeliers have warm, cool, and missing bulbs. The couches and chairs in the lobby are old, drying out, and cracking, and the tables are chipped and worn. There were also holes in the wall that looked like something had been pulled forcefully from the wall. We won't try Shilo Inn again, it was very disappointing.

Sadly I stayed there a few years ago, and unfortunately it s has really gone down hill. My room was 124, no hot water and the staff knew the boiler was broken, and they still put me in that room, They allow me to go to the room next to my room but still Luke warm water ..The breakfast was horrible.. old frozen egg and cheese which tasted like rubber, The staff had no heat in lobby and said not one was available to repair their heating system she has big coat one and very cold..The room rate was 88.00. I guess you get what you pay for . Will not stay there again..Owners need to get their #$ t together

I'm not sure that I would stay at this Shilo Inns The Dalles again. I'm not saying that I absolutely wouldn't either. The first thing I noticed was the large sign in the lobby stating they were short staffed, which is good for people to know so there is a different expectation going in.The front desk staff was polite and greeted us right away and let us know said they would be right with us.Check in was simple and easy. While checking in I asked if they've ever had issues with the front having no ADA accessibility to the front lobby. They mentioned the other building is where the accessible rooms are so there's no issues. There is no wheelchair access to the front lobby for people to check in unless they know to enter through a different building and come all the way down the hall.... ?Then I ended up with an ADA accessible room.... which I didn't need. I was just curious because rolling luggage up stairs made me think about wheelchairs. The hall smelled musty or smoky. The room I got wasn't any better. And the condition of the walls in the bathroom were in desperate need of repair. The beds were decent but not super comfy and they didn't provide any non decaf tea. There was hot chocolate in the lobby and breakfast wasn't terrible. There were eggs and sausage, pastries, fruit, juices and milk. Unfortunately the eggs came with cheese on them so I asked if they had any without and at the time there weren't any. They did say they try to have them normally.Great wifi.

I'm a local so I go there to have fun periodically, it never fails. The lounge has the latest gambling games that see a lot of action so there is always one or two machines ready to pop.on the weekends I've never had a problem getting a dance if I chose, actually gents- always more rowdy women in there than anywhere else in the Dalles, consistently. The staff is a fun bunch to hang with and the prices are better than the average comparison on drinks.all in all,a fave of mine to just pop in once in awhile, couldn't be a more convenient location.

As soon as I checked in I was informed that the laundry room and gym were closed because they had been vandalized. That was the only reason we chose this over competing hotels. Then there was a sign saying they were short staffed. That's the Inn's problem to solve. I paid for a room and I expect to get the service I paid for. Breakfast is limited and don't expect anything in the way of choice. They have one person at reception doing breakfast and checking people out. The on site restaurant is terrible and not family friendly. In fact they literally kicked us out because we had our child with us. To top things off, there are no external locks on the building doors to get into the hallway entrance to the rooms even though the building is mere feet from the street.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We were told the rooms were going through a remodeling process. I believe them. But in that case don t rent the rooms until they are finished. Problems: only one chair in the room; no bar in the closet to allow for hanging things up; no hooks or anything to hang towels on; very limited area to put thins. A relatively inexpensive room but I can see why now.
