I have gone to Real Tech for years. So knowledgeable and Doug the owner is nice. I didn't want to go to the new location, but when the my rig needed a new alternator I sucked it up, because looking for a new mechanic is like looking for a new doctor. So I stuck with what I knew. A high quality team of mechanics.

AVOID THIS MECHANIC AT ALL COSTS. We had our company diesel truck towed to this shop to address what was diagnosed by himself as an injector issue. After paying thousands for the supposed fix and months of waiting, the truck immediately broke down again upon retrieval.We proceeded to call Doug, the owner and he stated that he will resolve the issue and cover the tow costs. He then expected further payment to address the ORIGINAL issue, despite having already paid thousands for the repair. Furthermore, when picking up the truck he demands that we cover the towing bill, After initially agreeing to cover it himself.Please save yourself and take your vehicles elsewhere.

I just have had two bad experiences in a row here with over charging me. First time they fixed it after I discovered the overcharge. The second time I just came in to get oil change and tire rotation and it was $230! No one told me their labor rates increased or even a quote when I dropped it off, the front staff was too busy to talk with me and just had me fill out form and drop key. I really wanted to like this shop, but $230 for oil and tire rotation is just ridiculous so moral the story be sure to get a quote! And of course, I dropped off my car at 8 am for a 10 am appointment and they had it until 5 both times and didn't appear to work on it until 4 pm when I called for a status update before the weekend.Maybe I'm just more upset at the lack of communication from the get-go and no quote, so moral of the story, just get a quote from this place.

Anyone looking to have their rig worked on, go see Doug at Real Tech Automotive. He's the "Real Deal." I've used Doug anytime I've had issues that I can't fix for over 10 years now, and he has never done me wrong. Go see him. You won't be disappointed.

They got me in and I said no problem with any time it takes. They gave me estimates daily with choices and time frame with parts and labor.It took a while, but I was not in a hurry and the repairs were done 100%. Not half way, but complete and up to my son's standards. Great job. We will be back and it's the best shop in Salem after 5 years of lousy service.Thanks. You guys are awesome.They are real folks who can say they don't know, but they will figure it out. This is worth more than any other shop I know. I took a vehicle in to Real Tech about 10+ years ago and had a great experience. Fast forward to a new vehicle and decided to return to Real Tech.The shop staff are great. They perform their work quickly and the suggestions are clearly listed. The color coding on the suggestions is appreciated to give it a visual as to what is ok or what needs work.Pricing is fair and there are oil change specials that are run which is nice. I also received a text from the General Manager following up on services that were provided.The waiting area is decent if you choose to stay and wait for results. There s purified water, coffee and tea. Free wifi and plenty of food delivery options in the vicinity.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Took my 2017 RAM truck due to the brakes going out and we informed them of a noise the truck would make when turned on. We had a diagnostic done and were told that the brakes needed to be replaced front and rear, and the fan clutch needed to be replaced as well. To our surprise the grand total we were given was $4,220 parts and labor.I did my research and called an auto parts store to compare prices on all parts needed according to REAL TECH AUTO & TRUCK REPAIR and the grand total I got just for parts was $1,389 and the price REAL TECH gave me for ONLY parts was $2,973 labor $1,055 plus the diagnostic fee.I decided to call around different shops in town and all the quotes I was getting were WAY BELOW $4,220. Other shops averaged between $1,800-$2,100. Glad to say I got my truck fixed for a total price of $1,780. Saved myself $2,440. :)I went to Real Tech Auto & Truck Repair because of the good reviews but unfortunately our experience with them was not the best I am not sure why they were wanting to charge us double-triple the price amount. Sad to say this was very unprofessional and very untrustworthy of them. From my personal experience would not recommend them.

Service writer put on original work order to allow for a $60.00 allowance if I spent over $500.00 This was their text message they sent to me after I spent $522.82 originally. Today I paid $2963.22 with no $60.00 credit that I could see. I requested this credit upon agreeing to the $2900+ work order as instructed by their text message. They want to know how they did before I can drive vehicle home. Give the customer TIME to acess the work performed BEFORE asking how they did. Car was kept for 2 days + when it should have been only one days work as they had car previously, so parts and service required were known.JohnServices: General repairs & maintenance, Auto brake repair, Engine repair

I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla that I purchased brand new in 07. I have almost 300,000 miles on that vehicle. Real Tech is always right there ready for an honest repair when necessary. Recently my newer vehicle, a 2018 Toyota Prius had the check engine light go on. Real Tech diagnosed the issue, and performed the repair under time AND under the original quoted price. I would highly recommend this business to anybody. Travis was awesome. We live in Nevada and our rack and pinion steering went out on our truck. We had only a few days to get it repaired and then we have to leave to go sell at another state fair two days after we leave the Oregon state fair which we are currently selling out. He got us in and out and fix the problem and 48 hours. :-) He seemed very pleasant and professional and again I would highly recommend this place for everybody!Services: Steering & suspension repair, Steering & suspension replacement

Next time I have a repair I will go straight to real Tech auto. I. I don't do reviews usually don't have the best Opinion of the service having been a customer service manager. Doug, the owner, recommended that I spend more on repairs than what my truck was worth, over 11 thousand, while failing to mention to me that he never even inspected the engine or that they don t even do engine work on diesels. He gave me a list of parts that needed to be replaced which I thought were apart of the engine. Especially given the cost. When I first get my truck back, 2 1/2 months later, it runs very poorly but I still drive it out of the parking lot hoping that it just needs to warm up. But less than 1/4 of a mile away it shuts down. I keep starting it and driving further until I realize that it dropped 8 quarts of oil. Doug then refills the oil and gives the truck back since he can t find the leak. It still doesn t run very well but at least it gets me home. A couple days later I start it up and it shakes violently while sputtering out white exhaust.This is when Doug finally inspects the engine and he tells me that it needs to be replaced. I feel like it was deceitful of him to not tell me that he never inspected the engine the first time. I don t know anyone who would agree to have that much work done without a full inspection of a vehicle. Other mechanics I talked to said they would have never recommended doing the work just given the high mileage, Doug recommended it without even looking at the engine. He said he couldn t get it started and that s why it wasn t inspected but I never had an issue with it starting, it would just shut off when I put it in gear. Which makes me think they either never tried or didn t care to try hard enough to get it started.The only reason I dropped my truck off with them was because he said he could get to it in two days, but it took three weeks for him to even get me a quote. Early on he told me that my truck kept getting pushed to the side because other small jobs kept coming in. Later on he said they were having trouble with another diesel. They never reached out to me with updates either. I always had to call them to figure out what was going on or taking so long.

I was having issues with my car dying for no reason and so these guys replaced my fuel pump. I love this place and plan to have all my car issues taken care of by the Real Tech crew! They are fast, efficient and very goid people!Service: Auto maintenanceService: Auto maintenance

Lack of communication and honesty. I talked to Travis several times for my car estimate and each time he would change the numbers. Overall I would not recommend this business if you are looking for an honest price for your car.

Had a great experience. Came in with low hope for saving my truck. They diagnosed my truck pretty quick and presented a plan for fixing. Travis was patient with all my questions. Repair was done in a VERY timely manner and came in a little below estimate. We will be back! I've always considered Doug and company trustworthy businessmen and have been satisfied with the quality of their work. But my last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. All I needed was an A/C leak test, daignostic and recharge. Simple enough request? They charged the A/C and it works great now. However, The invoice included over $2000 of recommend services, including new AC compressor which was supposedly noisy and going bad. One week later my serpentine belt tensioner exploded. Just $45 @ Napa and I'm back up and running. Good thing I didn't jump on the $2000 recommended overhaul. All the other "up-charges" suggested on the invoice were unsolicited and 100% unnecessary. Sorry Doug, I know you're trying to earn a living, but please don't dissolution ignorant folks with "up-charge" culture. It's not a good look.

Travis and Doug were VERY HELPFUL & FRIENDLY. They tested the plugs & shifting. And fixed what was needed. Also they re the only shop that I ve been to that will get you a ride to and from your home. And you don t have to worry about asking they ask you. Thank you for everything. Awesome to have service like that again in this world that we re living in now.

Travis and the team lined up a long block and did the engine R & R on our 1990 Ford. The supply chain problems affected the price and schedule, but they were very clear what was going on. Travis and Doug were professional and friendly. I appreciate the quick work done to replace my a/c unit. They checked the entire car for me and only did an oil change as it was time for one. No unnecessary work was suggested. I appreciate honesty in businesses. It's hard to come by these days. Being a single woman with little knowledge of cars I like being able to trust Real Tech mechanics.Service: A/C installation & repair

Once again Doug and his team delivered! In spite of the challenges presented by moving his shop across town Real Tech got my car running sooner than expected! I can do all this myself but not having the time to do it, they got me back on the road. I have taken my vehicles to Real Tech several times and they have done an honest, excellent job every time. BTW, They're pricing seems to be on par with every other reputable independent repair place in Salem. They always seem to get it right and they also provide great customer service throughout the whole transaction. They get it! I highly recommend these guys.

I took my Cadillac Escalade here a few months ago to have it worked on. It was having electrical issues.While my caddy was there, they found and fixed all the electrical issues that I wanted them to fix. Doug called me and told me that there was a few other issues they found which did not cost me much to get fixed. I also asked to get the oil changed. They did that for me.I feel like the took their time on my caddy and did a great job. Everything that was wrong with it was fixed when I got it back and it is running great. The bill was a good price for everything that I got fixed.Good customer service from Doug.If I ever have any issues with any of my rigs, I will be going to this place.

Took my truck in needed an alternator,starter,front cv axles and window regulator and a glow plug . I have a third party warranty that's supposed to cover those things. Ended up just getting starter and alternator done. They had my truck just about 2 weeks. Doing stuff I didn't ask to be done. They told me my truck needed ball joints I just had done in June. And also I had multiple codes for glow plugs when there's only one bad. They way over charged me, they gave one price on the phone but when I showed up to get my truck gave me another price that was allot more than what I was told. Will never recommend. Should never cost over $1000 for a starter and alternator, couple hour job in the driveway and less than half the price they charged.
