UPDATE: 9/20/2023 - I had the pleasure of working with Precision Auto Care again as the new engine they previously installed was due for it's 500 mile break-in oil change. I was easily able to request a scheduled appointment online and was prompted contacted and appointment arranged. When I brought the vehicle in, I mentioned a few other items I noticed a recent trip, Mitch and team were prompt to check on those items and report back. I received multiple progress updates by phone during their work. Most notably, the specific oil to be used was in transit up from Albany, OR to Salem. They were experiencing a delay and Mitch was sure to keep me updated and formulate a plan based on its eventual arrival. The oil arrive minutes before closing and Mitch called and said to head on down and he'd get the oil in and stay until I was able to come pick it up - which respected the fact they knew I was headed out of town and otherwise wouldn't be available for another week to pick it up.ORIGINAL Review ~4/2023It was an ultimate pleasure working with Precision Auto Care (which came as a referral from a close friend).Mitch's knowledge and expertise in mechanics and helpfulness with the entire process of ordering a replacement engine for a 1974 Chevy G20 van was paramount to a successful endeavor.I'm more than pleased with the results, the communication from the shop with all the details.I look forward to using Precision Auto Care for any future needs.Service: Engine repair

I have been taking my vehicles to Mitch at Precision Auto Care since at least early 2016. He and his crew have never let me down. I NEVER get a blank stare in response to my descriptions of any difficulty or strange noise I can describe they just fix it. AND, I can expect an understandable explanation for everything they do. Today s visit was typical my only symptom was a weird noise that was new. Everybody at the shop had a listen and one even rode with me so I could say, There! That! That s the noise. They tracked it down to the A/C and had it fixed and running smooth & quiet again in a single morning. I wouldn t trust anyone else with my vehicle repairs.Service: Air & cabin filter replacement

Went in to get my car diagnosed with a rattle, I also knew I needed a new battery soon. Diagnosis: Water pump needed replaced, Drive belt was cracking and needed replaced, and idler pulley. and of course battery. Mitch quoted me at 6hrs plus parts at a whopping $1700.00. When I told him I would be coming to pick up my car, he advised against it saying my parts could just "fall out" if I drove it. I know I'm a 30yr old female but come on man I told him I would be getting other quotes and he said, they needed an extra day to even "put it back together". And that he would be charging me a deposit to guarantee I bring my car back. As if I had some sort of contractual obligation to use his services and pay his outrageous prices. I told him I will pay for his diagnosis and that is all. In the end I ended up buying the manufactured parts from the Toyota DEALERSHIP paying $330 for parts including antifreeze, $100 for battery and $300 in labor to another mechanic. When I picked up my car I told him what I paid for parts he said "well I gotta make my money too". In my opinion this man is a complete scam artist. Even with his diagnostic fee I ended up paying less than half of what he wanted to charge me. Do not take your car here. Not sure who needs to hear this; I see a lot of positive reviews here. But I can only speak from my own experience

Over the last couple of years I have had my 2005 Ford Ranger serviced several times. Items from just an oil change to finding defective vacuum hoses with tiny air leaks. They have been able to quickly service my truck even thought they are very busy. And yes they have large puddles all over their parking lot but I'd rather they spend their money on new equipment to product better service than spend it on new pavement.Services: Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto maintenance, Oil change

Went in with a check engine light and pretty dire need for my trucks engine to be looked at, was able to drop it in the next morning before I left out of town. Mitch's service and transparency on the work needed was top notch and will always recommend Precision Auto Care.Cheers Mitch!

I had a very good experience when taking my 2008 Ford focus in for fixing. They diagnosed and fixed my car in one day and kept my bill as low as possible because they knew I was on a budget. I was also able to take my car back when a light came on my dash and they took a look at it and fixed it at no charge to me. They are very friendly there too. I highly recommend this place.

Excellent experience. Stop prompt and precise us expecting considering their name. My radiator replacement came in under the estimated costs, and came with AC Delco parts that maybe some other places might not have put in. And the staff was very friendly which is always a plus for me.

Our ranger was having an issue and Mitch was juggling other tasks while chatting with us to distinguish what was exactly going on. Precision Auto Care is a perfect place to drop by for discussions of autos, life, & sports... such is always his business to know! Auto care is always reasonably priced and it comes with description; what needs to be done.

I went in last year in February 2021 and had my crankshaft seal front with my drive belt air conditioning and drive belt alternator and power. I had very many problems after this. My throttle body went out the next day after I got my car back from the shop. Following with one the belts going bad a few different times. This last time when they replaced the belt the car made a very bad clanking sound as soon as I got it back from them. I let them hold on to my car until the problem was solved. Well . the problem was never solved a month after giving them my car and they never called to communicate anything and I ended up taking my car out of this shop. Found out one of the belts were damaged still and the other one didn t fit right. They did give me a refund but it was only for the belts themselves. This was a very terrible experience I highly recommend going to a different shop.

I plan to continue to take my car to Precision Auto Care.I had recently bought a 2004 Subaru Forester XT with a blow turbo. I called around to a few different shops, read reviews and ended up deciding to take a chance on Precision Auto Care. The were able to quickly confirm the problem, give me options/recommendations and the cost. The price they charged me and the work they did have so far turned out to be great. They were well below the cost of the dealership (even with new parts) and on-par or below the cost of their competition. I have no complaints with the quality of work.

So this guy was super nice, helped me out a lot with understanding what was wrong with my car, and I ended up paying a lot for repairs on a car I bought from a private party and was told when I got my car back that it was fully road worthy. I've had it for maybe a week and a half now and my check engine light came on today. I took it in to a local place and they said there were multiple problems, things that were broken as well as a leak in my transmission. I'm not sure if he just was trying to keep my cost down or screwing me over, but I wouldn't reccomend, because obviously my car is not "road worthy" as he told me it was. Just frustrated because I asked him to check and fix any problems.

Very disappointed with the service we received. They misdiagnosed our first car, but we wanted to give them a second chance. We took in our ford ranger and requested a certain service. They decided to ignore our request and go another route, costing us over $200 for their mistake. Furthermore, they did not call us throughout this ordeal, we had to call them to find out the status of our vehicle. The repair was supposed to only take a few hours, they had our truck for 3 days! They offer poor customer service practices, and the owner made my wife upset when he let her know that they felt over the time of our tenure they did not make enough money off of us. We do not expect much, but we do expect good customer service and honesty. We will never come back to this auto shop! I do not recommend this auto shop to anyone!!!

This is my go to shop for all my auto needs. Mitch and his crew have always done a great job at taking care of all of our need personally as well as for our work rigs. They have pulled me out of some tight places several times and have even helped out with our equipment when we have been broke down and needing to get to a job. This will always be our go to for all our auto and equipment needs that we cant handle or don't have time for.I would and have recommended this shop to all of my friends.Thanks guys

I want to belatedly put in a terrific review for Mitch and Precision Auto Care. We had an electrical problem with my Toyota Corona in June and he fixed it quickly and in an economical and imaginative way, where he could have gone a more expensive route. I have taken cars to this shop several times, and each time I emerged a very satisfied customer.

Mitch is a super nice guy, easy going, and knows what he is talking about when it comes to vehicles. He is a natural born problem solver and will work until the job is done! Excellent work ethic, honest and great customer service!

I have repaired and restored cars and trucks and can tell you that Mitch and the A Teks at Precision Auto Care in Salem Oregon really know their stuff. They are the most honest and best auto care and repair shop I have been to in the Salem area. The knowledge base they have is beyond any shop I have seen.Mitch and his crew took on an almost impossible engine repair on my Volvo V70 and did a top notch job. Any other shop would have turned me away considering the problems we encountered.When you go there, listen to their suggestions. They will give you the straight scoop on your car's needs. They are far from a "typical auto shop". The lady that wrote this review wrote it before Mitch Davidson owned Precision Auto Care.Give them a try, I'm sure this will soon be your favorite car care shop as well.A+++++Jim G

Great shop with extremely helpful, friendly service. Heard a weird scraping noise in our tire well heading north on I5, dropped in off of the freeway and Mitch took great care of us. Would definitely come here again!

I have a pair of Third Gen Firebirds. I wouldn't dream of letting anyone but Mitch and Precision work on them. He's worked on virtually every major system over the years on one or the other of the cars, and always fixes the problem right the first time at a fair price.Can't recommend strongly enough.

Had our radiator in our van replaced by these guys. Extremely honest and knowledgeable. I am a gal that knows my cars and these guys are top notch. We will be bringing our volvo in as well when needed. Very fair prices as well.

I have a 1996 Subaru Legacy and I had a knock sensor problem that Subaru told me it was going to cost $700. Every time I drove it idling was terrible, rpms were high and act like it wasn't getting gas. My friends told me about Mitch so I took it to auto precision and they diagnostic the problem and the mast air flow sensor was bad and the k I know sensor wire was installed wrong. Charge me only $230. I pick my car up and drive great and the next day it all came back. So I called Mitch and he told just bring it back and I will take care of it he saw it two more times and he did the problem but didn't charge me no extra money. I NEVER BEEN TREATED THAT GREAT EXPERIENCE.. I will not take my care needs anywhere else's THANKS MITCH AND THE AUTO PRECISION

The customer service at Precision Auto Care is awesome! As soon as we got there they started working on my Moms car! They were fast at finding the problem and fixing it. I highly recommend them!

I kinda feel like this place is a rip off and they hold you longer or take their sweet time on fixing what needs to be done with your car so that they can make more money off of you. My boyfriend went in to get something fixed on our car because les schwab and midas wouldn't help him and he told them he didn't have much money the least they could've did was cut him a break we had no idea that this was gonna happen with our car we've only had it almost 3 months :/ I'm glad that they were willing to help him when no one else would but I just don't like that they over charged him and took their sweet time fixing the issue! I just can't help to think they were doing it purposely.

These guys were awesome. They got my car into their shop in the morning and went out of their way to get it fixed by the end of the day, and really went above and beyond my expectations. If you're in Salem and having car trouble, I highly recommend them.
