Rob was great. Super professional, friendly and answered all my questions. Did a vacuum test and head resurfacing in a single day cause I m short on time to finish a project. 10/10 will definitely give him my business again.

Took my head here to get guide rods, valves, springs/ retainers installed. Ended up leaving with a port job, cleaning, pressure test, and got resurfaced as well. Rob is the go to for head machine work. Took great care of me in THREE days I was very impressed with the turn around time. I m super satisfied the work he did. I will definitely be back and referring all my family and friends to Louthan Competition LLC. Keep up the good work Rob.Service: Motor building

this guy does amazing work! he had done what i asked and even found stuff i didn t know and had it all repaired in a timely manner for a very good price. he went the extra mile and not many people do that these days, 100% recommend this guy and 100% trust him and will send my buddies to him, aswell as return to him for any of my head work! Rob went above and beyond on a set of custom aluminum cylinder heads for a 427w we were working on. He squeezed them into his schedule for a rebuild to fit our short timeline for the project. His quality and workmanship were excellent!

I had a great experience using Louthan Competition, LLC to have a pair of cylinder heads rebuilt. Rob is extremely knowledgeable and takes pride in his work from start to finish. Had him do a valve job on a set of ls3 heads. He did a great job and had an incredibly quick turn around. I have nothing but great things to say. A machinist with this level of service is incredibly hard to find and he will be getting all of my work from now on!

I brought Rob a cylinder head from an '89 Mazda B2600 for resurfacing. Rob recommended it be pressure tested to which I agreed, and that uncovered a barely perceivable crack in one of the exhaust ports. After my unsuccessful attempts to locate a new core, Rob found a new one and performed the service of inspecting and transferring the valves over to the new head. He is highly professional, the results were outstanding, and he turned it around on a very quick time scale. I and the owner of the Mazda are very pleased with the service he provided.Service: Engine repair

7/7/2022Today I had the pleasure of meeting Rob. First, I would like to say he is very personable and is extremely knowledgeable about cylinder heads. His shop is set up with all the modern equipment to do his work. This guy went ABOVE and BEYOND to help me. I would rate him with10 stars if I could and recommend him to do your cylinder head if you need. In my 80 plus years on this planet and being bamboozled by shady mechanics, this guy WILL Treat you RIGHT and do a Bang-up job. You Can't Go wrong with Louthan.Thanks ROBService: Engine repair

Being from a small town in Kansas, I personally enjoyed coming here rather than a larger chain just out for you money and ready to kick you out the door for the next customer. Rob is an outstanding guy who took the time to know what I needed to get the job done and at a very reasonable price. He even went so far as to let me borrow a couple tools from him when I needed to adjust a part. Would definitely recommend him and will be back.Thank you Rob

Rob is very knowledgeable and very good at what he does. i brought a cylinder head to him that detonated, went through all 3 layers of the mls head gasket, and knocked out 3 good chunks. He filled it, decked it, cleaned it up and had it back to me in the time he said when we first met. His prices are more than fair, excellent service, great equipment, and fantastic turn around time. I have definitely sent more people his way and will continue to do so!

I had Louthan Competition rebuild the heads and block for an older Toyota V6 truck engine. I am very happy with the results. Rob was meticulous and thorough, applying his expertise in the critical areas that were beyond my capabilities. The engine actually runs smoother now than when it was new. I attribute this to his balancing of all the rotating parts as an assembly. Rob's interactions with me on the project were professional and helpful. I recommend Louthan Competition for anyone who wants first-rate, no excuses engine rebuild work.

My cylinder head work has always been expertly done and exactly to my specs by Rob. He has terrific equipment and years of high performance experience. He's built both iron and aluminum racing heads for me and has been the only one to ever touch them. Never a problem, always a smile and a fair price. Thanks for terrific work over the years Rob!

This outstanding, small, high quality shop is In one word, impressive.Impressive because when you speak on the phone, although it is a one man shop, you get him not an answering machine. When he answers your call, he is friendly and even has humor.It is impressive when you see his shop as it is organized efficiently so the work comes in one door, proceeds through the operations on machines placed sequentially in the shop and exits another door. His cutting tools are neatly placed in their drawer. This is the best organized of 11 shops I have worked with.It was so Impressive to see his cleanliness that I was inspired to sweep out my shop after seeing his shop.He even has an impressive dog. It must be half dinosaur and probably can tear a tire off a car but not off of a road grader.It is impressive that he could surface my head and have it back to me in a day. No one else could do that. Most of the other shops take a couple of weeks. Two of his competitors said "we will call you when it is ready" and then called two months later. He treats his customers far better than that.Not only does he do great work, he is forthright and friendly. I respect his open, honest, straightforward approach to things. I hold him in highest regard. I respect mr Louthan.

Louthan is a very professional and knowledgeable guy, he's worked on two sets of heads of mine and both looked great and came out of his shop looking better than new. He is honest with what needs to be done and will make sure its done right. His pricing is very reasonable and the quality work he does is better than competitors. Louthan is the only guy I trust with my cylinder heads. I highly recommend him.

Rob is one of most knowledgeable machinists I know when it comes to cylinder heads. I only trust him with my customers work and his turn around time is the best I've ever seen. And if porting on Harley heads needs to be done they will flow better then anything you can buy on the market when he's done.

Rob is very helpful. I have had. 3 jobs done there. He inspected the heads on my bronco.... fabricated a custom carberator plate for me and did the head job for a mazda pick up. Im always pleased with his work. He is knowledgeable, fair priced and efficient. I would recommend his work to anyone.

One of the few machine shops that will give you an estimated time when your part will be finished and actually match that. Good prices. Quality machine work and I felt like he listened to me when I was telling him what I needed done. One man band, same way I ve ran my own Buisness for the last 11 years so you can always count on him and get consistent service.

I had rob do jeep 4.7 heads, I was very happy with the outcome and he was fantastic to work with. Will return and definitely recommend to anyone

Went and took my head in the get it resufaced and I got back and it looked almost brand new!! Over 300k on that head and it looked like strait out of the factory! Really recommend this guy!! Coming back for sure.

Close to my house. Had to cancel a couple appointments which they had no problem doing. I will be back for all my car repairs, or as much as they do
