I highly recommend Capital Transmission. My transmission went out last year and left me stranded. I had it towed to them and they were able to get me right in. They did a partial rebuild and they had it back to me extremely fast. They explained everything in detail and answered all my questions in a way I could actually understand. They were affordable but also didn t use junk aftermarket parts. They made sure the job was done right and they warranty their work.I have been back to them since for a check up, to replace my thermostat and an emergency replacement of my transmission fluid lines. Jose and his crew continue to impress me every time. It s incredibly hard to find a honest repair shop whom you can trust but this is it. I won t be going anywhere else for all my future car repairs.

Hands down the best independent shop in town. I ve been bringing my cars to Capital Transmission Center for the past 3 years and it s always been a hassle-free experience. They are very knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Not to mention the accuracy with each job! I appreciate all the help.

The transmission of my Volvo XC90 broke and after doing some research I decided to replace it with a used one. I visited a couple of transmission shops in Salem and I chose Capital Transmission Center. It was the best choice I could have made. Replacing a transmission is a very expensive and complicated process. Jose helped me to navigate through this process with professionalism and good advice. I noticed how much attention to detail he pays to his work. And more than anything, I appreciate that he was always transparent and honest: he never tried to sell me parts I did not need or bill me for labor that was not strictly necessary. I could not have found this level of service and price anywhere else. My car is back on the road and the transmission works great. It drives like brand new.

Great transmission shop! We had a car that suddenly wouldn't move, so I Googled transmission shops in Salem, and read the Google reviews, and they rose to the top. So I called them and asked how long it would be before they had a chance to look at the car. They gave me a date, and so I had the car towed to them a couple of days before that. On the day that they said they would look at it, I got a call in the morning with the diagnosis, and the estimate. Knowing quite a bit about transmissions, when they gave the diagnosis, I knew that it was accurate. They said that it would take 7-10 days to get all the parts and do the repair. On the 10th day the car was ready, and working perfectly! Looking at the itemized repair list on the bill, the parts were very reasonably priced, and no unnecessary work was added to the bill. I would highly recommend them as an honest and fair priced shop, that does high quality work!Service: Transmission

Took my vehicle here to get a 2nd opinion. I was told and quoted for a full transmission rebuild from another shop. I thought I was going to sell the car because the costs of a full rebuild weren't worth it. So I asked Jose if he could fit me in for a same-day diagnosis and 2nd opinion, I just wanted to get the 2nd opinion and get on with it. Fitting someone in and doing a full diagnostic on the same day is no small ask. He made it work. Upon his inspection, he found reason to believe that my transmission wasn't blown but that it likely could just be a seal needing to be replaced. He gave clear reasons why he suspected this and step-by-step explanations as to how he would do the work. I love when someone can teach me and help me understand what's happening in the repairs. The other shop told me the code and that it would be a full rebuild but with little explanation and no other thoughts. Jose took the time to explain to me multiple things it could have been and how he would know at each step as he would do the work. Ultimately, it was the seal he suspected. He fixed my car in 2 days for less than %10 of what I was told I would need to pay and wait for 3 weeks at the other shop. Capitol Transmission just won my business for as long as I'm in this area. The last thing I loved is that he showed me the blown seal. I love getting a visual of the problem and seeing the part that was fixed. Jose is excellent to work with.Service: Transmission

Second vehicle I've had them replace a transmission on, second vehicle I'd rate them 5 out of 5, too. Honest, fair, fast, quality work, friendly.... It's now the only place I'd take a vehicle for transmission work.

I came in today (8/3/22) to find out more about a code I got from my check engine light. Edgar was the technician that helped me out, and he was very professional about my general questions. His attitude, honesty and patience made all the difference in the customer service he provided. The owner Jose was just as courteous and helpful. Honest people exceptional service backed up by years of experience, meticulous with their work to show you exactly what the problem is. Their business model leads by example.

Last year Jose and his crew did a great job replacing my pressure plate on my transmission, starter, and rear main seal on my engine. Excellent price! This year they replaced my entire rear axle. They called me a couple weeks later to make sure everything was running good. Very happy with their business I will go back again! Jose was the most amazing mechanic I had the pleasure to work with on my Ford F250 super Duty. He was honest and fare about his time and took great care about what was wrong with it. I as a mechanic as well was very impressed with his shop and how clean and organized it looked. I needed a quick fix because I didn't have the time to work on it myself. It was a pleasure meeting him and I will highly recommend his place to all my friends and family. Thank you again Jose.

We took a chance based on positive reviews and had our van towed to Capital Transmission Center on a Sunday while they were closed. Right from the start, Monday morning, they were great at communicating what was happening with our van. Super customer service! Timely, fair price, and honest people! I would definitely go back if another car should need work. I felt well taken care of! No complaints. 100% would recommend them to any family or friends who needed work done.

Normally, I don't trust anyone else to work on my rigs (vehicles). I fix most everything myself. However, I needed a transmission and an experienced shop with a high rating. Good work deserves good pay. A transmission replacement is not cheap and I wanted quality service. I asked for a diagnosis, but I knew the answer was a replacement. Jose and his shop called me back with updates, no gimmicks or added fees, no B.S.. Additionally, they found main & transfer case seals leaking, then asked if I wanted those fixed. Of course, those are common, crucial items of concern! They even waived the inspection fee, and told me up front the total cost for replacement, and how many days to do the job. The honesty, experience and update calls made my experience satisfying. I'm happy, my truck is happy and this is a good relationship to have with a shop. Thank you, Capital Transmission!Would I recommend them? You bet!

The best shop hands down. I brought my 4r100 here and they rebuilt it. I could not have asked for better. My 7.3 Excursion drives so much better than it ever has before. Jose is very precise and pays attention to all details. Even cleaning up the battery terminals to make sure they make contact. The little things like that is what makes a great mechanic. He is very informative and made me feel comfortable with the whole process. A truly great mechanic. He went above and beyond with even repairing my rear main seal as well because it was leaking. He is honest and straight forward. He also was great with communication and even let me see the transmission taken apart to show me the broken parts. This shop is great and I will recommend them every time I get the chance. Thank you Jose! I appreciate all your hard work!

We were very impressed with Jose after calling 4 other transmission shops. Not only was he the friendliest but also very professional and knowledgeable. His price was one of the best and we were very satisfied with his work. He also took the time to fill my moms tires with air because her light was on when she dropped me off to pick up my car!

My son is in his 3rd yr at Oregon State Univ and was living on a winery for an internship in Dallas, OR. His 07 Ford Expedition started shifting erratically and multiple error codes displayed. He took the car to a nearby repair shop recommended by coworkers. The shop owner advised a new transmission was needed. I called Jose the owner of Capital Transmission and advised him of the situation. He was honest and very knowledgeable. He arranged for towing and the expedition was transferred to Capital Transmission in Salem. After doing his assessment, Jose called me and advised that Ford had posted a Service Advisory for the problems the vehicle displayed. He quickly replaced several seals and the transmission shifting problem was resolved. Capital transmission saved me thousands of dollars. Jose is professional, honest and kept me completely informed of what he was doing and what cost I could expect. I was in Oregon visiting family when my Buick started having shifting problems, this was a Friday afternoon. I spoke with Jose and he asked me if I could bring it in on Saturday and he would look at it. Of course that was his day off. Long story short, Jose went above and beyond to make sure he got my car fixed so I could head home on Wednesday. The clutch on my 2001 Subaru Forester was "slipping". It has 119,000 miles and I have replaced the clutch before. I obtained several estimates on the clutch replacement. Capital's estimate was very easy to understand and very competitive. They test drove my car prior to replacement of the clutch and after the work was done. Quite frankly, it drives like a new car! They did the replacement in 1 day as promised and provided shuttle service to my home. I can and will recommend Capital Transmission Center to anyone needing transmission service. After calling around to numerous transmission shops in the area I spoke with Jose about getting a new transmission put in my Wrangler Rubicon. He quoted me the most honest and fair price in town. I am very pleased with both the work and the customer service Capitol Transmission gave. The quote for a new transmission installed was straightforward and a better value deal than the other quotes I got around town. The staff is very friendly and helpful with addressing any questions or concerns.I also had them look at my father's Nissan Frontier because it had a lot of front end noise and rather than charge me for unnecessary work Jose took it for a test drive and advised new tires. So a trip to the tire store and it was all good.I am always very glad when I find a shop that would rather send me somewhere else to get an issue fixed than charge me for something that isn't going to fix the problem. That speaks volumes to me about honest and genuine customer service. I would highly recommend their shop to anyone and they will get my business in the future.

After reading some reviews I decided it seemed like a good place for repairs. They quoted me a couple hundred dollars less than a few other shops I had called. I dropped my car of Thursday and it was ready by Saturday morning. I had them install a performance clutch kit and I was pleased with my experience. Jose was polite and I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for transmission repairs.

In the last few days I have had a need to search out a transmission repair shop.I know this is long for a review but I feel its important to include what I found doing business with Capital Transmission Center.After doing my research which involved checking the shop out on line and through the State of Oregon consumer protection office, I am happy to say that Capital Transmission Center passed with flying colors. But I thought anyone can have a good report but how was their service?I met with Jose Gutierrez, the owner of the shop. I was pleased both in his professionalism and his manner. He was polite and took the time to listen and talk to me he was up front about costs and possible results. I opted to have my car towed to his shop, he arranged this for me thus relieving me of one more task. This was a car left to me by my mom when she passed, low mileage but the transmission went out, the car is 22 years old there is a lot of emotional attachment with this automobile, he understood that.Jose called within a few hours after the car was delivered to the shop and gave me the report. Sadly it was not good but when he was speaking to me, he was honest and explained what they found with the diagnostics and left it up to me to decide how I wanted to proceed.He could have talked me into getting the work done, he knew what the car meant to me, but as he was explaining all the problems to me, he said something that really made me know this was my go to guy from now on. He said I am talking to you like I would a member of my own family and I would advise against putting that much money into this car, but again he made it clear it was my choice. I chose to follow his recommendation and years of experience. I was highly impressed with this honesty and integrity.I would heartily recommend Capital Transmission Center for any kind of transmission or other work you need done.I found Jose to be as I said, honest and forthright, with excellent customer service, he followed through when he made a commitment and work was done on time.I was never meant to feel like I was just person with a sick car, I was a person who had a problem and he was trying to help me fix it the best and least expensive way he could.This is where I will take my car from now on be it for brakes, a tune up. , electrical problems, transmission questions or a simple oil change. I am confident that any and all my car issues will be handled with the utmost care, honesty and excellent workmanship that was shown to me this week.

I took my 08 Civic Si in to get the clutch release bearing replaced. Loud screeching noise was pretty bad. I ended up having a new clutch kit and flywheel replaced. From the beginning they were able to answer all of my questions over the phone. Only shop to take the time to explain the process as well. Also, had a very competitive price when compared to other local shops. Once I was set on taking in my car, I called on a Tuesday, let me know I could bring in my car on Wednesday. Thursday I was able to pick up my car. The process was quick and very thorough. They even showed me the parts that were replaced (transparency much appreciated). The clutch feels great, no noises, and back to normal. For sure a great experience!

Jose did a fantastic job on our transmission. He was great to work with, staying longer hours to try to get the job done as quickly as possible. His price was very fair and our truck is doing great now! I would recommend this shop to anyone who ever has a transmission trouble :)
