The Bates Car Company is the only place I want to buy from. My best car buying experience ever. Don't hesitate, they will treat you right. Very courteous and personable. Amazing people do exist!

My granddaughter required a car, and we discovered one at Bates Car Company. We visited the dealership, and she instantly fell in love with the car. The salesperson, Tom, was extremely helpful and did not pressure us into buying. He patiently answered all our queries about the vehicle. This was the best car purchasing experience I have ever had, and I would highly recommend Tom and Bates Car Company to others.

Spent over a month trying to find the right car at a fair price in Portland where I live with no results. Saw some cars I was interested in at Bates Car Company in Salem so made an appointment and drove down. Thomas, the owner, knows the cars he sells, offers fair prices, and went the extra mile to make my purchase great. Now I tell friends and family to start here if looking for a used car.

Highly recommend! The car was exactly as advertised, the sell was extremely low pressure. He is extremely responsive to phone calls and allowed my husband and I plenty of space to freely talk to each other about the car without lurking. He was VERY respectful and patient. He Help save us alot of money in fees.. he was also very kind to my 3 kids (9,5,2 years old).. he had zero issues pulling up the car fax and showing us every detail about the car. He even pointed out some of the cosmetic issues of the car and was not trying to hide or slide anything past us.. his prices were more then fair.. he was honest about the pros and cons of the car. The paperwork process was very easy and he knew exactly what he was doing.. this is a family business and his wife is also very sweet and friendly.. definitely a small business vibe which I find very desirable. If your looking for a good car and someone who honest and reliable check out this company. They did right by our family 100%.

e just purchased a car at Bates Car Company for my son with very little to spend after our insurance company declared his car totaled from a hit and run. All that to say, the initial car we purchased we had inspected the next morning and there were some issues with it. I immediately got ahold of Tom to talk through it and he allowed us to bring the car back and purchase one we felt safe with. He absolutely didn't have to do this, he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with the vehicle and was incredibly kind about the whole situation. I can't say enough good things about Tom and this company.

Just bought a vehicle here and couldn't be more pleased with the process! Fair prices, honest dealer. Tom explained his philosophy about what kind of cars he sells (and what he doesn't) in a very open way. He was never pushy. He didn't need to be. The car we looked at and ended up buying was exactly as advertised. Excellent condition at a fair price. Highly recommend.

Looking for an honest and genuine car dealer that has your best interests at heart? Tom went the extra mile for us, and ensured all our needs were met. We live far away but will continue to buy cars from Tom in the future due to our amazing car buying experience, not to mention his extremely affordable prices. We have driven our car across the country a few times and it has run like a champ. Hands down best car buying experience I've had.

Tom is a very nice and genuine person. I am a student and i know nothing about cars. But he explained everything in details and he s being very honest about the condition of the car, etc (he was not trying to ripped me off like other car companies). Also it was very hectic to deal with my family especially my dad who called me & told me to take care of the car insurance first & not to pay the car before i got the insurance, it happens on the same day when Tom already drove the car all the way from Salem to Corvallis. However, Tom was just patiently waiting for me (3 hours lol sorry Tom) to solved everything and do the payments. It was a great experience to buy my first car in the US here, at Bates Car Company. Definitely will recommend this car company to my friends & family.

This was the best car-buying experience I've had in a long time, maybe ever (and this is probably my 20th vehicle purchase). The owner Tom goes over and above for his customers. From an extra long test drive, to taking care of minor issues I had after purchase, even when contacting him a couple months later for a copy of the Carfax, he was always available to help. It feels like buying a car from family. Tom is honest, friendly, and has excellent customer service. I hope I get the chance to buy another vehicle from Tom!

Tom is Awesome. We told him what we needed and a price range we could afford. He took that info and found the perfect vehicle for we needed. He had it completely looked over by a mechanic and fixed the things that it needed so we didn't' have to worry about getting stuck with a lemon. I definitely would buy from Bates again.

Extremely happy with this car company. We Just bought our second car from this company. The first vehicle (we purchased over 3 years ago) we still have and has never given us any issues. We live in Bend, but always try to buy from the valley. My wife s GMC Yukon (new to us vehicle) was more than what we expected from the photos. Always super fair prices and the owner really knows his stuff. Definitely recommend Bates Car Company.

Tom is fair, honest and hard working. He goes above and beyond to make sure you get the right vehicle. Prices are competitive and not inflated. Your first place to look for a vehicle should be Bates Car Company!

We searched for weeks for an MDX, making two trips from Salem to Portland just to test drive a few we found online. After having one inspected it was clearly not worth the asking price and the other fell through because of the seller not being up front with us and how high the demand is for cars right now.As soon as we started talking to Tom it was clear we were not going to have the usual problems with buying a used car. He was up front with us about everything and it s obvious the he only brings in high quality cars that have been taken care of.We were so happy with the experience of finding our MDX at Bates that we bought our second car, a Toyota Prius at the exact same time! We are super happy with both of them and highly recommend Bates car sales for anyone looking to buy a used car

I had a great experiance buying a highlander from Tom at bates car company. Tom went out of his way to find what i wanted. Tom really knows his cars and takes the time to make sure everything gets checked over and repaired if needed. Toms not a car salesman. Hes a guy that loves cars and helping people get a car they will love.

BEST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVERIve had my 2012 MDX for a week. Dealing with Tom was a pleasure , and I certainly was a pain to deal with. I was shopping online because I live in a underpopulated area about 4 hours south of Portland. I was determined to replace my totaled out MDX with another. I poured through every online marketplace ... cars.com, autotrader, caravans, and so forth. When I had narrowed down to a half dozen options I spoke with Tom and he had the 2012 I wanted ...the A-spec entertainment package.When I got there, I knew I didn t even need to drive it. It was perfect. I don t understand how a car can have 160,000 miles and the interior be pristine. Right down to the buttons on the dash. It looks, feels and drives better than sone of the new cars I ve bought.Tom was great, we chatted for over an hour and it was more like visiting with a friend than buying a car. I can t thank him enough.I had even lost my bank card and was short on cash so he let me transfer funds from left and right and even let me sent the last thousand via PayPal the next day.I can t imagine a better all around car buying experience.I will be sticking with the Acura MDX , and I wouldn t consider buying one elsewhere.Thank you Tom!

Tom and his crew fixed a headgasket leak in our Subaru and made it like new and at a great price. They made it easy for us and delivered quickly. I'd recommend Bates Car company to everyone.

Had a very bad experience with a vehicle I purchased, found out the vehicle check engine light was reset. As soon as I drove the car home, the engine light came on, and now have to spend $2300 to get it fixed. I'm a real customer, and don't write reviews unless it's absolutely necessary. Lesson learned, never buy a car from Bates unless you drive and test it extensively, a dealership inspection could've saved me from this shady dealer. I see the owner replied to my review. This is not a fake review. Buyers BEWARE, I regret my purchase, and want to caution you of this dishonest business and it's practices.

Great people. I was impressed with the quality of the vehicles... (especially Toyotas)! If the lot is closed, someone answers the phone right away and meets you there. Very reasonable prices too! Would recommend to any family or student. Seem to be very honest. Great family!!!
