I can't say enough good things about the experience I recently had here. Both Fred and Jimmy listened to the issues my 2009 highlander was having and diagnosed the problem very quickly. I had been to 6 different shops (including the Toyota dealership). All had different diagnosis which didn't seem to fit with the symptoms. Jimmy explained everything that needed to be fixed and gave a very fair price. My car was fixed within the time frame given and happily the car runs amazing. I highly recommend Aamco, especially if you value honesty in your mechanic. Thank you so much for doing what no one else was able to, I will definitely be returning.

I normally fix my vehicles myself, though knowing very little about rebuilding automatic transmissions I decided to give them a call for a diagnosis. My vehicle was towed to them within a few days of my initial phone call, diagnosed within 24hrs and they began working on it immediately following.Normally I am uncomfortable with shops touching my vehicles, but I felt like I had walked into that type of family shop, greeted by a friendly dog and family like demeanor.Lots of laughs, humor about the transmission fix and within 3 days I have my vehicle back in my possession, with a smile on my face.I will be back for all of my auto-tragic needs, and I know I'll be taken care of.Thank you all for your hard work and great experience!-Samantha with "that damn Tahoe"

Called Aamco, which is who has always taken care of my vehicle. Man answered and as I was asking a question he hung up on me. I called back and was explaining what my car is doing, and the man interrupted me and said I am not dealing with that . I said, ok but you guys have always worked on my car. He said I m not dealing with that. You can call and ask someone next week and we ended the call. I am disgusted by the rudeness. I will take my business elsewhere permanently now.

My Name Is Tony Goodrum I am a pipefitter of local 290 . I bought a 1999 Dodge 350 extented cab diesel 5.9 cummins truck in Salem Oregon a year ago in December or 2019 , love the truck but is was shifting between gears and would jump 200 rpms back and forth driving me nuts . It has litteraly the truck was setting with very little driving time ( for a year ) on the truck because I was afraid of the cost of repairs . Ever shop told me total rebuild $4,500.00 to $5,000.00 . I had a good experince before with Aamco before in Boise Idaho on a diesel 7.3 F350 . I called Jim in Salem on Liberty Street , He told me it might be electrical so i took the truck to Jim . They found the problem with in less than 2 hours . WOW what differnce their experince at that shop showed me . It was a small issue and had my truck back the same day !!! My experince with Jim and the staff at Salem was awesome over the top !!! The cost of repair was very minimal thousands less than i was expecting . Honesty to their customers and repeat customers is diffiantly their goal !! I put my approval on how i was treated and HONESTY to their customers . Thanks Jim to you and your staff . Started out my year GREAT Tony Goodrum Grand Ronde OregonService: Transmission

Brought my 05 Corolla in for a clutch, I always have worked on my own vehicles so i was a little nervous. Jim greeted me and was very friendly made me feel pretty comfortable right away. We had planned a trip to vegas and they got my car done super fast so we could get on the road. The first time around had a few issues after the install. We went on our trip but ended up bringing the car back, they had no problem replacing my clutch a second time free of charge under warranty. Dropped my car off at 10 and they had it done by 1 in the afternoon!amazing quick turnaround. The car is running great now and I would definitely recommend taking a vehicle there for service. Jim is very friendly and knowledgeable, and you can leave knowing your vehicle is in good hands.

If there were no stars, I would give them that. 1 star is too much for this unprofessional, non-caring, lazy people. I wanted to drop off my mother in-laws car and asked for a diagnostic. They asked me why and I told them. They then just said its the transmission and that s your diagnostic. No work done on the car, didn t even take it in to perform a proper diagnostic. I had a high hopes for them as a company, but they are worse than a small rinky-dinky shop like the ones around town. No respect for this place.

Great trustworthy shop. They rebuilt the transmission for me in 2015. Lasted till I sold the truck. Had a little problem with it out of warranty and they took care of the problem. The owner is a nice guy. This is my will be my transmission shop if I ever lose another transmission. Great job Salem amco team! Hey, they're going to

We would give the shop more than 5 stars if we could. Brian, the manager, went above and beyond after our truck broke down when we were traveling from Minnesota to Northern California. Got the work done super quick and at a fair price, plus has a very qualified group of technicians working for him. Mario was one of the technicians. I want to give him a special thumbs up for his great customer service and work on our truck. Thank you, Brian and crew, for providing such a positive experience when we were in need of help. It speaks highly of AAMCO to have him as a manager. Thank you! Steve and Kathy Krueger

We have received the most amazing service from your company, AAMCO in Salem, OR. I would most definitely recommend you to friends and family. Most important factor, Brian is a kick ass service representative who went beyond what would normally be expected to make sure that both my vehicles were taken care of quickly and efficiently and the PRICE was definitely right. Thank you so much.

I'm thankful I found these guys. When my torque converter began to fail in my Toyota, AAMCO quoted the repair at $1000 less than anyone else could. Granted, they use re-worked components to save on parts, but if you're like me and not made of money, AAMCO is the way to go, no question.

Words cant even explain how outstanding my service was here with master mechanic Brian, being from Wisconsin over 2000 miles away from home, he checked over my car for free and told me what needed to be repaired, after all that i needed money to be wired to fix it, he went the extra mile and came and picked me up in the city and drove me to get the money on his own time and drove me back to the shop! we stayed and conversed for a while, all in all if i could rate this guys work and customer service it would be through the roof, he had my car ready in just a few hours and i could not be happier with the outcome, check this place out if you need work done on your car you will be 110% satisfied with the work done to your car!!! Thank you again Brian you are a life savor!

This place is awesome! I took my Subaru to a local dealer, and they wanted 4,000 to fix my transmission. At aamco they did it for 1300 and it was fixed in less than 24 hours!! Unreal!!! I highly recommend them!! Jim was awesome!

Just fair warning. They have great customer service and they are very committed to getting you back on the road but it's comes with an extremely steep cost. My transmission rebuild cost more then double what it would have cost me to buy a brand new one and have it installed. As with any place or product, do you homework before taking it into a shop.

Paid for a transmission and one year warranty at the Salem store. It has always leaked a quart of fluid a month. I took it back five times in the first year for it to be fixed. They'd have it for a half hour and tell me it was fixed. It never was. The last time I took it in, they told me it was a leaky seal and needed replaced for $380 since it was now over a year. I told them it had been leaking since they installed it, and they told me, "No, it's a new leak". TOTAL BS! Don't take your car here, they won't honor their limited warranty. They give you excuses, wait for the warranty to expire, and then they'll fix it if you pay them more money.

Our tranny needed a complete rebuild. Aamco gave us a quote comparable to the other locations around Salem, but with a much better warranty. They honored the time frame they said they'd do it in and they honored the quote they gave us even though the extensive damage they found once inside should have cost more. Clean location, polite staff, and able to answer questions. Would recommend.

The staff at Salem AAMCO are fantastic. They gave us a thorough explanation of what happened to our car as well as what needed to be done. Our car was fixed incredibly quickly. I highly recommend them for any transmission or drivetrain needs.

Salem AAMCO is the worst place to go for your transmission I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 and I've paid them personally $5,200 just for transmission itself, not including the lines that they forgot to put the clips on so they broke and they told me they didn't touch the transmission lines when they replaced the transmission and that they are NOT under warranty and I had to pay for them and have them installed. after all that my transmission is still BROKEN!!!. If there was an option for zero stars that's what I would rate AAMCO as a company. My truck has been in the shop several times for several weeks at a time this transmission should be almost invincible at this point!!! I'm done with AAMCO! This is ridiculous!!

My Automatic Transmission lost all the upper gears on Saturday morning. I called AAMCO in Salem, Or.first thing Monday morning. Was told to bring it in. Was there at 8:15 AM and was promised I'd have a rough estimate by early afternoon. As was promised, got my estimate. I gave them the OK to continue. By 2:00 PM Tuesday I had the total cost. I was promised I would have it back on Thursday and I did!Transmissions and motors are the most expensive things to replace or overhaul on a vehicle. If you look into the insides of a automatic transmission, think of an empty box with three flaps of the lid shut! Now take a puzzle and put it together inside the box. The mechanics are worth every cent of the repair job. They recommend returning 10 or more later to check for leaks and Etc.. Went there without a scheduled appointment and they checked it and everything was fine.BEST AUTO SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD!

Five transmissions over four years. I was made to feel like I should be honored that they continue to work on my transmission after I paid over $4000 dollars for a transmission. Over 12 tows out of my pocket, four break downs, 1 that caused an accident and over 50 hours of my time dealing with this, my car is back at AAMCO with a bad transmission. And now I'm told that I need to pay MY portion of the 40% prorated warranty. For a service that has not lasted more than 4 months!

I took my car to Salem AAMCO when it started having issues. Marty could "almost guarantee" that it would cost $1,700 to rebuild my transmission and they would have it done by the end of the week. Got the call that to rebuild would actually cost $3,200. Now at this point if I decided not to have them fix it they would have to put everything back together which would cost nearly the same amount. Now I understand you cannot know what is going on in the transmission until you fully pull it apart. Then you shouldn't "almost guarantee" something. That should have been my red flag! Lesson learned. The rebuild they did on my transmission came with a 10 year warranty. That gave me some peace of mind. Then my car started acting worse than before I had the transmission rebuilt. They willingly looked at it to tell me that what it was doing was not the transmission. After taking it to my regular mechanic, he confirmed it was a transmission issue which is why 3 tranny codes were coming up. He told me to have AAMCO check the valve body. Took it back to AAMCO with this information and they "fixed" it, but he says it is not the valve body. Car continued to have problems. I took it back to my mechanic who, again, tells me it is the tranny. Marty is quick to have his crew look at it and, again, tell me it is not the transmission. I gave him codes and a video of what my car was doing. Not their problem. My mechanic and I did some research and it appears that Salem AAMCO is not the place to take your car for transmission repair. Corvallis AAMCO is the way to go. I called and Phil immediately took care of the problem that was not even his responsibility. He figured out very quickly that the problem was the valve body. Surprise! I finally received the customer service and car care that I should have received from my neighborhood AAMCO. If you are thinking of using AAMCO to repair your transmission it will be worth your while to drive to Corvallis. If you are in Salem and need a good mechanic who knows his stuff call Doug at Real Tech.

Dishonest and incompetent. If you can't get/keep customers based on your performance, then you don't deserve to be in business. Absolutely zero integrity or pride in their work. They lie about parts to get you to spend more money, they leave parts disconnected/not adjusted properly, it's very shady and unsafe.

Brian was willing to adjust his schedule to look at my truck. He was friendly and made me feel confident that there was not need for my truck to be service( though recommended by Oil can Henrys) . I am grateful for his work. Thank you Brian

I had the 3&4 four gear basket go out on my Silverado truck in April. AMMCO gave me a fair quote and fixed the transmission within a couple days. They also help with financing and provided a warranty for the work they did. Great job, recommend you consider them for your transmission repairs.

Went to aamco originally 7/2017 to have transmission rebuilt, cost $3091.00, more than i was told...fineIn april 2018 my car loses power then dies, i have it towed to aamco, they say not the transmission, its the crank shaft, car is toast. I decide for a second opinion...thank god and tow it to my mechanic, he within less than an hour says it is not the crank shaft, what he finds is that when aamco rebuilt my transmission they did not install my dowl pins , this caused the flexplate to brake completely free of the crank with then caused the crank to seize and the timing belt to jump 3 teeth. Total cost of repairs $1566.00, aamco refuses to pay for their negligence. And if that wasnt enough after my mechanic got it all back together, he test drove it and noted it was shifting to hard, so i take it to a different aamco they check it out and there is metal in the fluid has to be rebuilt a second time, 5 days after i get it back it starts dumping transmission fluid, back to aamco, front seal needs to be replaced.Good luck talking to the owner, i still havent.

These guys get a zero, and didn't even get out of the gate. We need some transmission work, so I called to see if they were open Monday. They were not, but I left a message asking for a call back when they opened. Two days later I haven't received a call back. My husband told me he called yesterday to talk to them to see if we could just bring the car in or needed to make an appointment. He was put on hold for ten minutes before he finally hung up.So at best, they are too busy for new business. But I doubt that's the end of the troubles for anyone who takes their vehicle there.
