Make sure you get your quote in writing. They did a bait and switch with me. I was told $650 to fix my horn, then they changed it to $1000. Just think, I was going to tip them with a couple hot cinnamon rolls from Fat City. After I left this review the owner called me. He said that he was just making a joke about the $1000. And said I misunderstood the joke.I take my car to a mechanic to get it fixed for the price offered. If I want jokes, I'll go the comedy club.

I bought an overpriced 2003 Subaru Forester from a mechanic who works here or worked here (looked at it, and purchased it right outside this place) and I'm not blaming him for getting lucky on the deal, I was desperate and impulsive. But two tires blew within the first 500 miles and the transmission had to be replaced.

Absolutely adore these guys! They did a fantastic job fixing literally everything that was wrong with my beloved 2010 Subi Forester AND they did it for significantly less money than the other estimates I had gotten! No more squeaking or clanking, the dashboard is no longer lit up like a disco Christmas tree, and my car is running like a dream. They even made sure I got it back before my vacation that I needed it fixed for. :)Dane was very nice and answered all of my questions whenever I called and Paul made sure I knew the ins and outs of what was done on my car. Thank you so much, MVP Subaru!!!

So fabulous! These guys figured out a pesky electrical gremlin that had been plaguing me for weeks. So happy to have all my indicators/lights up and working since it's getting so dark and rainy now. Go here, they're great!

MVP saved me from a potentially catastrophic repair and accident and I will continue to use their services, I can't thank them enough. Last week I took my car to a Subaru dealership for a brake job, mistakenly thinking I had to have the work done at a dealership even though my vehicle is out of warranty. Thats neither here nor there, however, within 2 days after I took my vehicle home from the dealership after they completed the work, it developed a noise, it was on the front drivers side where I had had the brake work done, and I had taken the car down some gravel roads, so I thought maybe it had some dust or something in there. The noise worsened, I called the dealership on Tuesday they didn't offer to take my vehicle back in immediately even though by now the noise was alarmingly loud and I was increasingly concerned, so I contacted MVP, they were able to get me right in, I'm walking distance to them, they found all four tires were loose! My wheels could have FALLEN OFF. My car could have been wrecked, I could have caused an accident or been in a accident. MVP has my business. I greatly appreciate how helpful, fast and friendly they were.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I had two flat tires on my Impreza. I called for the Subaru Roadside Assistance as I was stranded. I waited for 2 1/2 hours. When I tried to check in I was assured that a tow truck was coming in about a half hour, or an hour, but it was always on its way. Paul came to my rescue. He arranged to have my car towed to his shop, and got me a new set of tires. I had always gone to Les Schwab for tires, but he assured me he could beat their prices. He did! I have gone to him for an oil change, regular maintenance, a new battery, and he did some repair work. He is very nice to work with, professional, and very reasonably priced. I can t believe I was taking my car to the dealership! I highly recommend this shop!Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance

I started taking my Subaru here in October of 2020 due to my engine blowing up on me. The whole team is freaking SUPURB! These guys knows their Subaru's and know how to give fast reliable service. Their prices are reasonable and fair and they do fast work. They were able to rebuild my motor in 3 days once the engine came in. Paul (the owner) has a great team back in the garage. Overall fair prices, reasonable, reliable, and great customer service. I have told several other Subaru owners about this place and I will continue to refer anyone with a Subaru/Volvo there.Services: Engine repair, Brakes, Oil change

Brought my car in to have a mysterious knocking issue addressed. Instead of working to actually diagnose the issue, they reset the ECU and told me the car was fine! The next morning the issue is back and even worse! What a surprise! I would never take my car back here, and I would certainly never recommend it! Avoid at all costs unless you want to pay them for doing nothing!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Vehicle Inspection, Oil change

Over $200 more than they quoted me. Not the end of the world, but considering they didn't inform me about that until I saw my bill, I would steer we'll clear of this place.Their communication with their clientele has been overall abismal, however, The person at the front desk has been absolutely fantastic every time; excellent job to them. Everyone else needs to learn some professional communication skills. Not informing customers of further costs after a clear quote would not fly when I was in the industry.I would not recommend going here unless you have no other affordable options.

If I could give this place less than one star, I would. You're better off being ripped off at a dealership than at MVP Subaru.I brought my car here last winter. Based on the experience I had, I'm surprised that this business is still standing.I had a bad feeling in my gut at multiple stages throughout the process, and wish I had acted on that feeling. The location was convenient, and work was busy, so I allowed the downward spiral to continue.I went into a repair with an array of issues, one of which seemed like a transmission issue. I made it known that diagnosing that was my top priority, because I wasn't ready to put money for such an expensive repair into a car that wasn't worth it.I provided a number of engine codes for the various things I had going on.The owner checked my car in, but didn't write anything down. I basically just handed over my car and my keys, and that was it - no paperwork, no signature.Communication throughout the process was abysmal. Anytime I was told I'd get a call back, I'd have to call back a few days later just to get ahold of anyone - and even then, they'd often deflect until I felt like I had to harass them twice a day to get any information. It took a month to get a diagnosis, and yet another for them to implement the work.I got recommendations for unnecessary repairs that had already been performed in the last year or two.Two months after I had originally dropped off my car, I finally got a call that everything was fixed up and ready to go.The first thing that happened was that my bill was a lot higher than what I had been quoted and approved, to the tune of about $500.The second thing that happened was that the problem that seemed like a transmission issue was back with a vengeance. That problem had gotten worse to a point where my car wasn't even safe to drive on public roads anymore. This problem was evident the moment I pulled out of the lot, and at literally every stop until I brought the car back. When I talked to the owner about this, he sounded surprised about the check engine codes I provided, saying that those were transmission codes. They were the same codes I provided when I dropped the car off on day 1.I was quoted about $2000 on top of the $2000 I had already put in, bringing the total to the value of my car if it were already in perfect mechanical and cosmetic condition. When I brought up the negativity of my entire repair experience to the owner, I was asked if a "rockin' deal" on a new transmission would change how I felt. What is the raw deal I was getting before supposed to be called?MVP Subaru somehow managed to nail every negative trope about a scummy mechanic shop. Everybody's got their list of local businesses they recommend - this one is on my list of places to avoid.

Let me begin my review by saying Paul and his team provided me with the best experience I've ever had with a mechanic! These guys are fantastic and I cannot recommend them enough. For years I had been using Superior Auto Import for all my Subaru needs as they are one of the highest recommended Subaru mechanics in the Portland area, yet each time I was not impressed with their customer service. A couple weeks ago I found a flyer on my car for my neighborhood mechanic, MVP Subaru. In the past, they were primarily a Volvo repair shop, but when asked about why they are now servicing Subarus, Paul informed me that half his Volvo customers also had Subarus and that he'd been repairing both for years. I was hesitant, but I decided to support my local mechanic whose shop is only 2 blocks from my house. With a broken ankle, this was also about my maximum walking range. Within a half hour of my call, I was at their shop and my car was on the lift for inspection.I had a laundry list of services that needed doing as I had been putting off repairs for over a year. My brakes were shot and screeching down the road, my rear shocks were rattling and shooting my bank end to the right every time I hit a bump, my CV boots were cracked and leaking like a sieve, and my 30,000 mile major service was 30,000 miles overdue. Having a broken ankle and being temporarily out of work, I had a budget of $2000 to work with. The repairs he and his team provided far exceeded this value and I was shocked when I got a call informing me he had provided work that exceeded my budget, but he was still only going to change me $2000.Today, a week after getting my car back, I received a phone call from Paul checking in to see how my car was handling and whether or not I was satisfied with their repairs... WHO DOES THIS? Paul, thank you very much. You've earned a customer for life. To any of you reading this, please check them out and give their shop a chance to earn your business.

Great experience! Owner explained everything that would be going into my car, sent pictures of the work they were doing and called whenever things changed and decisions had to be made. I give this shop a 4 because the woman at the desk was rude and did not give me any sort of confidence about bringing my car there, but after talking to the owner and the main mechanic, I felt more comfortable with my decision.

AVOID AVOID AVOIDThis place is horrible. They had our car for over two month and their communication is awful. We had to call them on multiple occasions to get updates. When we did eventually get our car back they did a ton of work that we never asked for or approved. We ended up spending WAY more then we should have. When we drove the car away it was shaky and felt in worse shape then when we brought it in. It was the most terrible experience I have ever had. I feel so ripped off and angry.
