YES you should visit these guys if you re looking for a trustworthy mechanic! I had taken my car to the dealership for regular maintenance and they told me I needed over $800 in services for my car. I wanted a second opinion, and set up an appointment at Mickey s. I ended up paying just $70 for a synthetic oil change, and got assurance that my car is doing completely fine. They were straightforward, genuine, and fast. Non-urgent appointment booking was about 2 weeks out, which I think is a reasonable timeframe for a good auto shop. I ll be coming here for all my auto needs!

Straight forward service, accurate price quotes, and fair prices. I was able to get my car in within a day, and repaired within 48 hours. They diagnosed my car for free and stayed true to the price they quoted me. They described the issues with the car in terms I could easily understand and didn't try to upsell me on things I did not need. The best experience I have ever had getting my car repaired.

Mickey, and now Blake, have taken great car of my cars for years. Very honest, highly skilled and they will not steer you towards expensive, unnecessary repairs. It's generally easy to get an appointment with them and the max stop is right next door. Or wait in there comfortable, heated waiting room. Highly recommend.

Very honest mechanic, they told us the ac didn t need to be serviced and that we needed to change the settings initially that turn them to circulate later when it was colder. Saved us two hundred dollars! Oil change was quick and of good value. Very pleased. Great customer service, super affordable, people working there are friendly and easy to approach. This place was referenced to me by a friend and once I called, their next available date was about 2-3 weeks out, but it was worth the wait. I walked in for my scheduled appointment time and the worker, Blake helped me right away. I needed a front light and back LED light replaced. The front light was replaced within 10 minutes and Blake placed an outside order for the LED light and I was still able to get all my car needs met THE SAME DAY. Amazing. I'm definitely coming back whenever I have a question/need about my car and I'm referencing this place to other friends. Thank you! :)

Blake is the best. He knows a lot about Honda CRVs, is honest and does great work, at great prices. He s willing to get creative to save you some money while still keeping everything safe and working well. He s helped me out of some tight spots with my CRV! Very trustworthy and knows what he s doing.

A friend recommended this place in 2007 when I first moved to Portland, I never went anywhere else again for car troubles until I moved out of state in the summer of 2019. In those 12 years, first Mickey and Dan then Blake and Beau treated me better than any mechanics I've ever met! Consistently honest, friendly and fair... Always willing to help me save money and offering better deals than anywhere else in town. I've referred multiple people there over the years and everyone always had an excellent experience and usually became loyal customers. I'm back on the East Coast now and I'm pretty sure I'll never find a mechanic like this in New Jersey!

Too good to be true, but somehow this place really exists.I've brought my Hyundai in to this place twice over the last few years. Both times I've received courteous service, honesty, and quick and inexpensive care for my Sedan. I was so used to being ripped off, lied to, and hustled by other auto service shops that even after my first service with Mickey's years ago I was still skeptical and figured that I was just remembering them with rose colored glasses. I brought my car back a couple weeks ago to have my brakes checked and it turns out my initial regard for them was correct.Example: When I first came in a few years ago they told me my brake pads were getting low but they still had some use before they needed to be replaced. So when I started getting weird halting while braking a few weeks ago, I figured it was time to have that work done. I brought it in and also mentioned a few other things I'd like them to check out that I'd be happy to pay for.They called later and explained that the brakes still had some use and that the issues I was experiencing wouldn't damage the car, so it was no charge for that. I asked them to do an oil change (which they don't charge more than anywhere else for) and picked it up. When I showed up they said they weren't charging for looking at the brakes or doing the other two things I asked them to do. I insisted that they charge me like a half hour for the work and inspection - more than fair - or even just for unintentionally wasting their time but they refused.I'm not a wealthy person that can afford to get ripped off and I don't like being swindled so this place is a dream that I wish I'd known about decades ago. I hope they stay in business as long as I'm in Portland and decades beyond that and I recommend them to everyone. Don't let the slightly tucked away location behind the freeway fool you, these people are great and absolutely professional. I have been going to mickeys for 5 years now, and they were recommended to me almost 7 years ago. These guys are THE BEST. No matter your rig or problem Blake and Beau will make it run to perfection.I have had everything from brakes to a complete engine swap done by these guys. Honest and hard working, fairest pricing, and they work fast. Hands down the best deal and the best service you will ever find in Portland.I consider myself a Mickeys Auto lifer. The crew here goes above and beyond to keep rigs new and old runny happy and well.If you re reading this, these guys are the people you can and should trust with whatever repair or maintenance you need done to your vehicle.Cheers Blake & Beau, your handiwork merits way more than a review and a pack of beers. You guys are legends and old Clifford wouldn t be running the way it does if it wasn t for you guys and your shop. Mickeys forever, don t blow it.

This is a hidden gem! I was very impressed by the service performed on my brand new 2022 Honda Ridgeline. There aren't many honest and capable shops out there. I have taken my van into Mickey's a few times now and I have been pleased every time. I think that their pricing is very fair, and they are very upfront. They have been very considerate to me and how long they will need to keep my van for. The most important thing I can say about Mickey's is that I trust them. They work hard, and they are not looking to take advantage of me. They often recommend different ways that I could save money. It truly feels like they care more about serving me, and not taking as much money as they can from me. Big Big Big Fan of Mickey's.

STOP what you're doing, and read this review. Really. It's important.I have never in my entire life had such an amazing experience working with a mechanic. I live in Austin, Texas, and was looking at buying a used car from a shop nearby Mickey's. I worked with Beau and Blake, and they were both beyond phenomenal.They looked the car over for me (I couldn't come up and see it in person) and did an extremely thorough job. They found a few shady things that had been done to conceal the big issues the car had, and helped me to see that I almost bought a lemon. On top of that, they didn't even charge me for the service!I wish that I lived in Portland so that I could sing their praises to all of my friends. But since I can't, I'm doing it here! Please give this place your business. They are honest, knowledgeable, and hardworking. What else could you ask for in a mechanic?

Blake consistently goes above and beyond to give exceedingly good service. Not only is he extremely competent, but he's also very kind and genuine . I always feel satisfied with the workmanship, and usually have a fun conversation with him to boot. He is generous to a fault, and really cares about my vehicle and me as a person. Even though I don't like things going wrong with my car just as much as anyone else, I look forward to taking it in to Blake when they do. (Need to take it in soon in fact). Mickey's rocks!

Blake and Beau are the best.This shop was recommended to me, as I was passing through Portland and needed to get my car fixed quickly. They took a look at it right away, and all it needed was a bit of tweaking, there was nothing serious going on. They called it diagnosing and refused to charge for it. So kind, so helpful, and so articulate with chatting to me about what had been going on. Thank-you! Take your car here.

Was having issues with my 2000 Honda Accord and called Mickey s. I spoke with Blake who was kind on the phone and let me know when I could drop my car off to be inspected. Once I dropped my car off, I received a phone call about two hours later letting me know what was going on. They had my car fixed shortly afterwards and even took some time to show my husband what they had done. Respectful, reasonably priced, and great service. Would highly recommend to others who need a mechanic.

Was recommended by a friend. I called for a quote, price was better than the shop that was suggesting I needed the work (i.e. Ron Tonkin). Scheduled out, they're busy, everyone is, and when the time came it was cheaper than expected as my vehicle apparently didn't need all the work recommended by the other shop. Also, they're a small shop so I didn't get 100 promotional txts and emails like with the other dealer-shop combo. Felt honest, straight up and affordable when compared to the opposite experience with dealer-shops.Service: Brakes

Fair prices, honest & trustworthy. Mechanics you can actually communicate with. They do excellent work at a price that can't be beat. More than that though they go above and beyond any shop I've ever been to. I've been going there for 5 years now for my 98 Toyota corrolla & 95 Honda oddessy. I recommend them for anything. All my friends go to them as well and have had the same experience. We've been taking our cars to Mickey's auto for about 17 years. Always honest and fair and competent. Wouldn't know what to do without them. Seriously, this place is the best. Don't let the funky location and hole-in-the-wall aesthetic give you pause; they are great.

Will never go elsewhere for car troubles again. My wife and I have gotten both our cars serviced here. I am always anxious whenever I have to take the car in if there's an issue. I have been taken advantage of on several occasions over the years.Both Beau and Blake are kind, knowledgeable, fair and efficient. They didn't charge to diagnose either situation and gave us prices that were drastically less than 2 other places.Will come back for every problem and also oil changes/regular maintenance. Great referral from SI's Auto Body, which is also our go-to for body work as they are cut from the same cloth as Mickey's Automotive.

I was helping my girlfriend buy a new car and needed a pre-purchase inspection, my friend recommended Mickey's Automotive so I called to make an appointment. Blake helped us schedule one and said "we do not charge for pre-purchase inspections". We were so shocked we had to call back to make sure we heard that correctly, yup no charge, wow most shops charge around $100, that's awesome!When we arrived they were efficient, communicative, and thorough. He said he would invite us back to the garage and show us any trouble spots he found. Luckily he found none! Afterwards he took the time to speak with us about the business and how he runs it. I left feeling I had just found an honest mechanic with integrity, rare. I hope I don't have to go back anytime soon but if so I know I'll get the quality and attention I deserve.If you live in NE Portland and need a car serviced I highly recommend checking out Mickey's.

Giving this place 1 star is too much!I originally called them a few weeks ago & spoke with Beau about my car's malfunction indicator light displaying. He said he can scan it for a diagnosis so based on this I told him I wold stop in. According to them & their posted hours of operation, they close at 5PM. I arrived at 4:45PM & saw no staff & the open sign was off. One employee came out named Blake & said they were closed, in a rude way. I asked why they closed 15mns early & he said with a bad attitude that it was his birthday so he needs to leave & he can't help me. He didn't apologize, didn't show any professionalism nor concern that he shut down the business early to go out.A few days later my MIL warning display just disappeared so I let it go, but a few days ago it came back again. I was in the area & decided to give them another chance so I called them & brought my car in again for a diagnosis.I handed Blake my keys & immediately saw that same pathetic, unprofessional bad attitude he famously displayed the first time I met him. He didn't say hi, didn't smile & acted like I was inconveniencing him. He came back with an estimate that contained a list of 3 areas of repair, so I wanted to confirm the details. I asked him what was specifically wrong with my car's housing assembly & purge valve, as I'm not a mechanic & I wanted to get a clear idea of my car's issues. He gave me a very rude look, then in a condescending way told me he doesn't have time to go into details about the repairs & that he's busy. I was shocked that he had the audacity to speak to me with such disrespect, and for no valid reason. I was so upset I just walked out!Blake should never have customer contact, in fact he was so rude & unprofessional that he should be fired, as obviously it's a pattern with him.Another staff member looked angry so this place just has bad energy & is not one to trust your car to. This place is a poor excuse for a legitimate business & these guys need to learn that the customer's satisfaction is the #1 priority.Their customers pay their bills so maybe one day they will learn this, after losing more business.Do yourself a big favor & find a professional mechanic shop that respects their customers, as these guys are clueless.

I have been a customer of Mickey's Automotive for about four years. It's the only shop I've ever trusted. He is consistent, honest, fair, and even generous (once he fixed something that was making a strange noise underneath for free). This past week my car broke down in my driveway and I made the mistake of calling someone else who was mobile; the estimate was crazy high and the diagnosis was off-base, so I had it towed to Mickey's and it was ready the next day for about $200. He's the best mechanic I've ever had without a doubt.

Once again, the fantastic mechanics at Mickey's did a great job on my trusty 1998 Toyota Sienna! I came in for an oxygen sensor to pass DEQ, and also had them do an oil change, replace a worn engine mount, and do a few other random things. They called me with an estimate before starting on the job, updated me with progress, and everything was done the next day, for less than I had been expecting. Only shop I go to. Small business, honest workers (only Mickey and one other well-trained tech). They fixed an A/C problem in my car for free once while doing their standard diagnostic. I've had some bigger jobs done on my cars as well, and they always do a great job for a reasonable price. Also, cheap oil changes with quality oil. Great guys. They will always have my business.

Had a perfect experience here today. Mickey's is now the only place in Portland I'll take my cars.Engine light was on and it felt like a cylinder wasn't firing, so I had a pretty good idea what was going on. I called a few shops and told them and they all wanted to charge me $100+ to run the diagnostics, which consists of plugging their handheld computer into my car and getting a reading. It takes 10 seconds. ALL of them insisted this was required.I stopped by Mickey's and immediately felt like I was hanging out with my uncle. Super low key, knowledgable, and trustworthy. I told him what was going on and he pulled out the computer, plugged it in, confirmed the problem, ordered a part, and installed it - all within 30 minutes. He didn't even consider charging me for the "diagnostic" assessment. I was out the door for $90.Why would I go anywhere else after that experience?

Mickey's has always treated my family and I with professionalism, given us great value and been very upfront and honest with their evaluations and service. My #1 choice when I need automotive repairs and evaluations done. Can't recomend them enough.
