Great shop, the guys are very skilled and awesome! At 290k my car blew the head gasket.Took my car to Jays Garage Miles and Mel took amazing care of my car and fixed it the right way. they explained everything and got my car running perfectly again. Thanks again guys!

Best auto shop in Portland! Very good communication, got me scheduled quickly and was able to finish what I needed in a day's work. My rig is a 2005 and drives like she's brand new now! Mel and Miles are very polite and know their cars. Very pleasant to work with. Will be back for anything else I might have. Thanks guys!

These are skilled, honest and scrupulous mechanics. Jerry and Miles @ Jay's Garage worked hard to price cost the car parts I needed to work out an extremely affordable rate-- no arbitration, no haggling. They went to great lengths to try to save me money, even calling manufacturers on my behalf to try to honor warranties on inadequate parts. I'm puzzled that this neighborhood shop doesn't have more reviews. They've got my future business and trust; they're amazing, friendly guys with great communication who help you understand what went wrong, they talk straight (no embellishment, no exaggeration) and they definitely want to stand behind their workmanship. I like the commitment to their customers, I'll be back, thanks!

My starter went out over the weekend on my 91 Chrysler Le Baron, I towed it into the shop Monday morning. Even with tight availability, they squeezed me in, made my car a priority and had the starter completely replaced within a few hours. Excellent work.

Always call first to see if they're open.Great people here. It's the only place I get gas since it's the only place in town with E85. Unfortunately they are terrible about maintaining their regular hours of operation that are listed on this very app. I've told them how easy it is to adjust your posted hours on Google Maps when you're going to deviate from your regular schedule. They manage to respond to reviews here, but they don't bother to keep their hours updated. I can only conclude from this that they don't care about their customers. It's as if they have no competition in selling E85. Oh wait, they don't. Numerous times I've pulled up to find a handwritten note on the pumps saying they are closed. Today I drove from 45 minutes away to find it unexpectedly closed again.Do I really have to call this gas station every time before I plan on visiting? I guess so.Hey Jay's, upgrade your pumps to allow self service now that it's legal. Then you can be closed as often as you want and at least you won't be wasting your customers' time.

Great service and friendly guys!You should definitely ad credit card slots to your E85 pump so we can get it even when you are closed! You are the only place in Portland within a 100 mile radius to get E85 and it would be more buisness for you!!Thanks,

My husband and I were visiting Portland when we experienced car trouble (we live over an hour away). Our break line blew out and on a busy Friday afternoon, Mel from Jay's Garage saved the day! They called all around for the needed part and with some serious networking they were able to find it. The part was delivered and the vehicle was fixed in under 90min! Jays hates us. Our boss can't figure out how load money our purchase cards and they always get declined at the pump. But we forgive their saltiness and love them all the same

I can't say enough good things about Jay's Garage. I recently came to Portland to stay with my daughter for a couple of weeks after losing my place to live. My car started overheating go over the passes from Calif. I called Jay's and even though they were very busy, they got me right in. The mechanic that worked on my Jeep was Mel. He was very kind and understood that I needed to keep the repairs to under $1000. He found the problems right away. He kept me informed of everything that he was doing and was right on the est. Which ended up being over $100 less than what I had set aside. I highly recommend Jay's Garage and to ask for Mel as yout mechanic.

Mel and Miles were great to work with! Both friendly and efficient. Miles replaced the coils and spark plugs in my 2015 Subaru Outback, and got it back up and running on very short notice.

I went in for a bad distributor initially. The mechanic mis-wired my spark plugs in the wrong firing order so the engine started misfiring. My car never had this problem before the repair so I mentioned this to him. He tried to deny any mistake on his partHe then simply told me he could sell me new spark plugs for $300. (I replaced the spark plugs 2 months prior so they were fine)I asked him to look at the plugs again and he gave me a dirty look but fixed the mistake in 5 minutes.He also did not perform all the work as stated on my distributor and a month later I had to have another mechanic redo it as Jays garage used old parts and the distributor failed again.His mistake has cost me much more money, time, and stress than needed. Please avoid these crooks.Edit: in response to the business' reply The owner denied any wrong doing and did not attempt to correct the situation. The mechanic also still works here.

Love the place, especially since it's the only place around to get e85. Unfortunately, 4pm closer for fuel makes getting the e85 very difficult. Would love to see self-serve after hour pumps!

I wish I could give higher than a 5 rating!!The guys down at Jay's really know how to provide the absolute best service with the utmost honesty. They will never, ever try to get more money out of you with bologna claims of your car needing excess work. They only do the work that is necessary to keep you on the road safely. It's rare to find an honest mechanic anywhere, let alone a family owned/ran business. The owner, Miles, is a very kind and generous person, and a man of pure integrity. His son Joe helps him run the shop, and they do so in perfect harmony. I don't even know where to start with Mel.. The guy knows his stuff and is incredibly straight forward about any and everything. They're all straight shooters and They'll tell you how it is and they won't bulls*** you! Trust me when I tell you that this IS the place to get all your car repairs and maintenance done if you want it done right! Schedule and appointment or just go down and see what they say, I absolutely, positively, 110% guarantee you won't regret it and you'll want to thank me later!

Love this place!! It s so hard to find a good mechanic, especially as a female, you do not want to be treated unfairly or over charged. This will NOT happen at Jay s garage. You get good service, skilled and knowledgeable employees at a fair rate. They have been my go to shop for both me and my son s car for almost 4 years now. Highly recommend going to Jay s (family owned and operated) if you need a trustworthy shop that provides high quality work!

Besides for being the only pump e85 in the region, the staff is awesome. Several times I've locked my ecu up while switching tunes and they always help me push the rig our of the way and back. Cars never had issue with their quality of e85 either.Little pricey but I guess that's S&D

I ve been conned and taken advantage of at a lot of car shops and repair places because I don t know all that much about cars... never once have I found one that I could trust to help me get the best bang for my buck until I stepped foot in Jays Garage! I didn t even make an appointment! I walked right in and was helped immediately and they diagnosed the problem with my vehicle right then and there! A faulty battery! And they installed it at an outstanding price, and we re really nice the entire time I waited which wasn t long at all. I can t even express how grateful I am to have such amazing car pros in the area who were quick and went out of their way to get me the best price possible, they made my entire week with this visit and they ve got themselves a customer for life! Amazing garage! If you need anything fixed or looked at on your car, definitely take it here! Just an awesome bunch of people.Two weeks ago, I took my car to them to get new brake pads and rotors. During the entire process, they would involve me in some way. I was able to actually look and feel the old parts versus the new parts and learn about their function. Everybody there was more than happy to answer any questions I had!I flew home for the holidays, so my car sat for a couple of weeks. When I got back, I noticed some grinding when I would brake. I took it back to Jay's, and Mel explained that it was probably just because the moisture rusted the new rotors while the car sat (and it was). But, they went ahead and double checked anyway- free of charge!I seriously cannot recommend this place enough! Jay's Garage is the first garage I've ever been to that involves the customer in the process, gives mechanical insight, and treats women fairly. Plus, I genuinely enjoyed having conversations with the employees!Go here! It's a no-brainer!

I recently had an emergency repair needed for my car and because the cost was more than I anticipated, Miles worked with me so that I could have the repair done and be safe on the road. I really felt that they cared about my safety and valued me as a customer.I will be using Jay's for all of my automotive needs in the future. Their standard of customer care is exactly what makes them top notch for me.I highly recommend them.

Honest, honest, honest mechanic. You can t find a more honest mechanic than right here. Not only were they beyond understanding and honest but also not greedy. They could have not disclosed things to me, taken a lot of my money and then never see me again. Instead they told me how to save money and then even discounted my bill to be less than it was originally. This company goes above and beyond Excellent.Service: Engine repair

I originally found this place through a friend who knows one of the mechanics, thinking "eh, why not?". They made the process incredibly easy through their credit service, getting me my car fixed before I could afford all the work, and by keeping me updated daily (by request) as to what was happening with my car. The whole time I felt like they were giving me the best work at the lowest prices I could find after doing some further research, as going to a place just because you know a guy that knows a guy isn't always the best way to find a mechanic, though fortunately this time it ended up being, by far, the right choice.

Very professional, courteous, and timely service. Despite the fact that job I had performed was complicated and very labor intensive, they were within 5% of the estimated price for the job and quoted a more affordable rate than other shops with experience working on Volkswagens. I am a moderately skilled amateur mechanic myself, but the complexity of the job I had performed required me to seek professional help and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I look forward to working with them again for future services and repairs. They seem to know their way around TDI Volkswagens well.

I had an unexpected rather major repair arise with my WRX - I had it towed to Jay s Garage as that was the closest place to me - being rather new to Portland and the first time needing a mechanic I crossed my fingers that I made the right choice- and that I did! The guys there were awesome- I felt treated like family. They were patient and very accommodating- explaining to me in detail what exactly was going on, letting me do my own research ect. In the end the repair bill ended up being a fair amount less than I expected and the quality of work was exceptional- I highly recommend Jay s Garage- they will be my go to repair shop for as long as I live in Portland!

Long story short. I have been having some difficulties with my car. I have gone to a couple different shops and I have gone to the dealer and everybody has told me a list of things that I need to do to fix the problem with my car. And I just so happen to stop at Jay's garage to get some gas I asked one of the mechanics Joe quick question and he asked if he could look at my car. Next thing I know my car is fixed for a fraction of the price that the dealer wanted. I have now found my mechanic shop I will always be going back and it's right in my neck of the woods. They were fast they were friendly they were reliable. Ultimately they scared for my safety and wanted to solve the problem without breaking the bank. Thank you Jay's garage for doing a wonderful job on my car I will see you guys again soon.

I have been going here for about 14 years to get gas . Great customer service! Didn't realize until this last year that they sell tires too. They special ordered some tires for my Dodge Ram, and I got a killer deal. Saved me a lot of money compared to what I was going to spend at Les Schwab.

The reviews on google are a lot higher than any other review platform. With that being said, the reviews here that state the prices are high are true. An oil change ran me 70.79 with an average for the area of 45-70. A coolant flush ran me 149 with an average for the area of 100-140. It was 52.48 for an hour of diagnosing a coolant leak and then 744 to replace a water pump and thermostat with an average price for the area of 445-671.

Jay's was wonderful and went above and beyond to take care of me! I came to Jays after buying a truck that failed me over and over. I bought the Groupon and asked them to run a diagnostic. A couple months later, two new catalytic converters, new wheel bearing, and a few other repairs and the check engine light comes on again. I brought the truck in again... Tried to clear the code... was feeling really frustrated. Ended up speaking with Miles who told me to give Jay's another shot. They ended up fixing the issue and getting my truck to pass DEQ! I was totally shocked and I am extremely happy with Jay's! I'll be bringing in my truck and any other car I have for as long as I'm in Portland!
