Lives up to their name. Daughter's car has been running with very dirty transmission fluid for several weeks. She called two shops and chose Honest-1. She received a speedy service appointment, and they were very expedient on service day. This given that they had to fill, run, and drain the transmission twice before the fluid stayed clear. Their charges for the service were extremely reasonable, especially given three separate fills of fluid before they released the car. They could have taken advantage of a young woman and charged substantially more for the service, happily they didn't, and earned a repeat customer. Thank you, gentlemen. This was a very good experience. (And it's great to see this shop back in business after being closed for several months for what appears to have been a fire in the building.)

Really happy they're open again after the rebuild! This has been my place for years. Good prices, nice customer service, I've always left a happy customer. Had to have my car towed recently to them because my tire was making a horrible sound I thought was the break pad change warning.Turns out it was just a rock stuck somewhere in the tire. They took it out and didn't charge me for anything. That's just decent. Will continue to be a return customer.

Honest A1 on Stark is not so honest they sit up there and told me that I needed rotors for my brakes and I didn't even need no brakes or a rotor after I took it to another mechanic they lied I don't trust them they're not so honest. They wanted to charge me $500 to fix the brakes and the rotor that did not need.

I got their Groupon for the oil changes, they are by far the cheapest but after a year I am having a hard time trusting them. When I first went in my Airbag light came on when I picked it up, I showed them and they said "we don't touch that", they tried to diagnose it, not cuz it happened on their watch, but because I had a freebie on my groupon. They couldn't figure it out and I paid $50 to have it diagnosed elsewhere- basically it isn't worth investigating further so still broken- it is an old vehicle so Maybe it was a coincidence?I reluctantly came back and on my 4th & last Oil Change there was oil on the door, seat, and shift lever. Also I noticed a metal ring had fallen off my ignition housing and been placed on the steering column adjust lever (see pictures). I showed them and first response is- "we don't touch that". They asked around and the technician didn't remember. The ignition ring wasn't a big deal but that they wouldn't admit to it makes me think they either intentionally or delinquently mess with the cars- or maybe just certain customers. The savings isn't worth wondering what else they "don't touch" :(If you do go there, I suggest you wait- It seems like the sketchy stuff happened when I let them know I was going to go on an errands.Service: Oil change

Had my own parts, they tried charging me $270 for the labor of a transmission oil change. Walked out, went to K&W where I got it done for $80. Take your car somewhere else.

I felt good about the service I received from the technicians. However the fellow at the front desk was not friendly, and he scolded one of his employees in front of me. I won't go back and will not recommend it to my friends

I have been to honest 1 quite a few times in the past and have generally received good service. However, about a year ago I had to take my truck in after someone drilled holes in my gas tank. I expected they would replace the tank and my insurance was going to cover it. However, they told me they could just patch it and the estimate to do so ended up being cheaper than my premium, so I canceled my insurance claim and went forward with the recommended repair. I did ask beforehand whether or not patching the tank was a viable and safe alternative to replacing the tank and was told it would work fine and have no problem. Great!Recently it started leaking, so I called to see if I could get a refund for the work. I was told I couldn't get a refund because the fix was never meant to be permanent and the only reason they did it is because there were no tanks available at the time. While I totally understand and respect their policy of not refunding "temporary fixes", It was presented to me as an actual fix and doesn't indicate "temporary" on my invoice at the time. Its a bummer that I wasn't given the correct information at the time of repair. I was never told about the inability to find a tank, wasn't conveyed that the patch was a temporary fix, and was essentially given the impression that patching the tank was a recommended and viable repair option from the man who helped me. Otherwise I would've either waited for a tank to be available or kept my insurance claim active so that I could get the proper repair covered when a tank became available. Its just unfortunate because their inability to communicate honestly and openly about the initial repair, cost me a lot of time and money that could have otherwise been avoided. It's also slightly concerning I was told the patch would hold fine and then consider how dangerous it is to have a leaking gas tank.

I went just a couple days ago for a 100 point Inspection and today I realized that 2 lug nuts weren t there (from different tires). So I went back to the place and the manager said that they don t take off the tires for the inspection. The weirdest thing it s that in the 100 point inspection they don t check if the lug nuts are tight.I will never go back.

Stopped by honest 1 for an oil change after driving to Portland OR from Warwick RI. I liked that they didn't try to sell any extra services to me (my car was fully serviced before leaving RI)Cost was typical at $30 for conventional.

My alternator went out so I called Honest-1 and they were able to get in my car that day, and finished it in less than 24 hours. They called with updates and weren t pushy either. They were so friendly and my car is working perfectly. Very reasonable pricing as well! I would definitely trust them again with my car. :)Service: Auto engine diagnosticService: Auto engine diagnostic

Almost a year ago, I took my car from Green Drop to Honest 1 after I got a really great quote from them over the phone for head gasket replacement. The quote I was given was probably $400 less than Green Drop which was a huge deal because of my budget. I paid green drop for their diagnosis and limped my car to Honest 1. As it turns out, they misquoted me over the phone and the actual service was about $600 over what they had quoted me over the phone. I felt lied to and manipulated but decided to go ahead with the work because I just needed my car to function. I had several really intense conversations with Jason at the front desk where I could tell he didn't want to deal with me being upset about the price change and kept telling me there was nothing he could do. My car started leaking oil immediately after I took it off the lot and and the engine rattles while running now. Turns out they installed the wrong part and did it incorrectly so I had to take it back... twice. The third time I picked it up from the shop, I drove it for about a week before I noticed it was leaking oil again. I took my car back to Green Drop and it turns out my engine was covered in splattered oil that the Honest 1mechanics neglected to clean up when they had improperly done head gasket service. The icing on the cake was that Honest 1 sent me a $20ish gift certificate in the mail as a thank you to keep me coming back, Jason refused to let me use it on the follow up service because "$80 isn't that much money". Despite all of this taking place a year ago I still can't shake how upset I am about it all. I will never go back to those guys.Service: Engine repair

They were able to get my vehicle in the next day after I had an issue and the price was reasonable for the work done. Although I don't feel they go the extra mile and left me feeling I would be coming back sooner than later. I was really hoping to have a clear idea of the current state of my vehicle which I had just purchased. I feel like they only did the minimum amount of work in order to get me in and out instead of really looking at my whole engine/car and giving me an overview of its condition.

Anytime a business feels the need to include "Honest" in their name to convince you to trust them, usually a good sign that you are about to be conned. I should have trusted my instincts and stayed far away from this shop.I took my car in to have my front brakes replaced, and ended up with a $900+ Bill for services that I had an actual trusted mechanic inform me I was grossly overcharged for.And the actual brake job... Subpar to say the least. The parts used appear to not be "new" at all, and I suspect are used and or refurbished, not to mention were pretty obviously not properly lubricated when installed and have been the noisiest "new brake pads and rotors" I have ever experienced in my life. I am not dense, I understand that there is some level of noise to be expected with new pads and rotors but when they are still make noise on EVERY STOP weeks after install that is a sign of low quality parts. For reference I got an actual high quality brake job at a much better shop shortly after on the rear as opposed to the front and the difference in quality and attention to detail is obvious.Service: Brakes

I've been going to this auto shop for about 5 years and have nothing but good things to say about it. The folks here have always been professional, given me the best prices, and as their name suggests, are honest. The store manager Jason, really seems to care about his customers. It's so rare to find nice people these days and I greatly appreciate the compassionate way they serve their customers.Services: Transmission, Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair, Wheel alignment, A/C installation & repair

Jason and the team always give top notch service and get the job done in a timely manner. I always go to them for all of my car repairs; from everyday oil changes & inspections to tires & major repairs. I know that every time I take my car to Honest One, I can trust them to get the job done well, in a reasonable amount of time, for a reasonable price. Thanks for making it so easy!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Oil change

Truly incredible service and passion for customer happiness. I worked with Robert and Jay and thoroughly recommend them. In times of COVID income is hard and my 10 year trusted dealer said there was $1100 bucks of urgent repairs. My friend said I should just get a quote from Honest-1 that he uses. I did. They physically showed me what was claimed to be wrong and there was nothing wrong. What needed to be fixed was fixed and oh my, saved me $700 bucks. Super grateful. Go use this shop specifically, Robert and Jay. They really do care, I overhead them speaking and all I can say is that honesty and doing a great job is their prime motive. Truly floored and spreading the word so that they get business in these challenging times.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Air conditioning

I had a great experience here. I just needed an oil change, but it was painless and quick. They didn't add any unnecessary repairs in an effort to upcharge me either like other places have. Going into a repair shop as a female always makes me nervous as I've been treated patronizingly many times but those I interacted with were kind and matter of fact. I will absolutely be back for any future oil changes or repairs needed.

I've been going there for several years and they are always very truthful and honest about the problems or lack thereof. I went in for an oil change they notified me of two things wrong with my car that I knew were wrong. But they did not try and say that anything else was wrong with it. It's not the kind of auto shop that tells you you need your motor Replaced and hands you a big Bill and has done nothing. I knew something was wrong with my car so I took it to five auto shops one told me I needed a new computer the other said I needed an entire new motor one said it was my transmission. And sad to say but being a woman they definitely do try and take advantage of me. Lucky for me I have mechanic friends they checked it out and said exactly what honest one said what's wrong with my car. If I had all three things done to my car. Honest-1 it would be less than $400. Much cheaper than a new computer or new motor. They're always very friendly and fast I was there less than a half an hour in and out love the place

I called the store and spoke with Jason 10 minutes before arriving at Honest-1. I needed a new headlight and he gave me a reasonable quote so I headed over. Once I got there he was with me in less than two minutes, changed out the bulb in about three minutes and sent me on my way! It was the fastest and most efficient auto mechanic experience I ve ever had in my life! Albeit it was the day after Christmas so I imagine it was slow for a Wednesday but I will absolutely go there next time I need any work done! The service was exceptional, the mechanic was polite and down to earth and it all happened so fast I spent more time driving there than anything else!

My brakes had been squeaking for a bit so I dropped my car off here to have them replaced. It was around 3pm when I dropped my car off and I was told they could be inspected that day, but they likely wouldn t be worked on until the next day. At 4pm they called me to tell me that my brakes were fine- that they still had 6-8mm left on them and they didn t need to be replaced at this time. They even tested out the brakes and told me the squeaking was likely due to dust or cheap pads from the previous repair shop. I ended up having my tires rotated and picked up my car the next day- my bill was less than $30 and the brake inspection was free!I appreciated so much, how honest the shop was with me. They could have replaced everything, charged me $250 and I would never have known that I didn t need the service. I think that deserves 5 stars. Thank you!

I brought my car in to have the shocks and struts replaced which went fine I guess. Maybe a little overpriced. However the trouble came when within the next week my car started making this thumping noise. At first it was quiet and it would come and go. Before long it became this very loud Thump every time the wheel turned so I brought it back in to honest-1. They looked at it for maybe 15 minutes and said it was definitely the transmission. It needed to be replaced. They could make it happen for 1400. This was very strange and it stressed me out immensely so I took it into a different mechanic. Imagine that, it wasn t the transmission at all. Honest-1 just didn t screw my tire on all the way and it has almost snapped off. So I guess thank you for leading me to my new and much friendlier mechanic Honest-1 Stark!

Horrible experience with Honest 1 right from oil change, when they didn't fill coolant, washer fluid or tires to misdiagnosis of check engine light, to being treated with disrespect and car not being prioritized even though they made the mistakes. They tried to charge me $145 twice for check engine light diagnostic even though it was their mistake. I have lost trust and respect. I do not recommend.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Battery, Oil change

Not your go-to shop for auto service. I called a week ago and spoke with a rep. to schedule an appt. for oil change. Today, Wednesday, I showed up at 8 a.m. as scheduled and waited 20 mins in my car but nobody opened the shop. I called their location on 82nd and spoke with a dismissive rep. who claimed to have no idea who answers the phone and schedules appts. at the closed location. It turns out the was a fire a few weeks ago and that's why the shop is closed. One star is more than enough for such unprofessional service and lack of customer care.

Meh. I paid 45 bucks for a basic oil change, and asked for a tire rotation over the phone. When I got there they said "we will rotate them if we think it needs it" so I had to insist. As a family, we have been using honest 1 on 82nd for years and usually receive good service, this service was mediocre, and they suggested fixes for the car, but didn't notice severely warped rotors when rotating the tires, probably because it was a lower cost service than what they suggested. I guess it's better than Jiffy Lube.

I love Honest1 Auto. From the first time I went in, desperate to have a mechanic take a look at my squealing brakes - they got me in and out as fast as possible so I could be back on the road. Their service is incredible and they were willing to match a competitors price for new brakes. I've been a customer ever since. I previously dreaded going to the car repair shop because it was always greasy and gross men who spoke to me in condescending ways...not these guys! The people at Honest1 explain what is going on with my car and consult me before making any costly repairs. I'm able to get in for same day service for oil changes and whenever I need an honest opinion on car care, I stop in. I couldn't recommend them higher!

On October 15th, 2018 I had my vehicle towed to Honest 1 Auto Repair on Stark while I was at work because it wouldn't start over the weekend. Scott charged me $125 for a diagnostic fee, which is fine. I understand a mechanic's time is valuable. After they took a look at it they said my battery was dead then they wanted $495 total to replace it with a new one. FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY FIVE DOLLARS TO REPLACE A DEAD BATTERY! After I said I couldn't afford that Scott told me to get my car off their property immediately even though they charged me the $125. I ate the cost for a dead battery diagnosis on top of two towing costs. I did not have a good experience with this company and wanted to share with the public. If I could give 0 stars I would. I would not recommend this repair shop to anyone.

I previous left a good review after my first time there, but after multiple additional trips I've revised my opinion and will stop going there for service. Asking clarifying questions was often met with a defensive attitude and on one occasion outright condescension (and I get being frustrated with what you perceive to be a silly question after several years in customer service myself, but especially in a specialized trade you gotta keep that in check), the mileage device for my insurance was regularly not plugged back in, and if you forget to ask where on the street they parked your car (once in a tow away zone!) you have to hunt around or go back inside to find out. I don't mind paying higher prices for car maintenance and repair when justified, but pattern wise that's not the case here.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

Wish I could give this place zero stars So demeaning and unprofessional. They called me and told me my car was fixed and ready to pickup, and I went and paid the hefty 1k for a fuel pump repair. After paying, the manager tossed the key on the counter and didn t let us know we were good to go. I went to start my car- and it wouldn t start. We were told it just needed a jump so they tried to jump it. Didn t start. We were confused, because it seemed like they didn t perform any repairs or services after happily accepting the thousand dollar payment After talking down to us and laughing at us questioning what the issue is (we are two females) they decide it s a faulty part. After a lot of convincing, the manager hastily agrees to refund the money until they actually perform the repair.Horrible service. Horrible quality. So disrespectful Do yourself a huge favor and take your vehicle elsewhere!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Took my older Ford in for a power steering repair and was told it was nearly impossible to find the part needed and that it was selling for about $1700. I paid $160 for an inspection but was never told the codes that the car ran (although I called several times to follow up). Several times they told me they would give me a call to update me but never did.Ended up finding the part myself on eBay for $125 and repaired the vehicle in an hour with the help of a friend.Service: Steering & suspension repair
