I've brought my 07 Rabbit in several times to get work done since I bought it recently. The previous owner cut a bunch of corners when modifying, and Rene has been great in helping me get the car sorted out. These guys are knowledgeable, fair, and do good work. They are definitely my go to shop for VW.

Absolutely fantastic place to get your vehicle worked on. My passat sat for a year because I thought the timing chain broke. Finally got it into the shop and they had it diagnosed within days and a breakdown of where to go from there. We went ahead with the repair attempt and everything was great! They performed several other maintenance jobs and my car runs better than ever! They even washed my car, vacuumed the floor mats and left me a gift in my car when I got it! This place is a 10/10 on communication, performing good work and timeliness!

Took my Audi in to fix the brakes tjat the dealer installed improperly, they were sqieaking a fair amount, especially every morning. Work was done fast and no noise at all out of the brakes anymore. They also advised me of a needed repair that is covered under warranty through an extended service bulletin that dealer doesnt like to honor. Rene is the greatest! Can't recommend enough.

I am writing this review because I would like to express my gratitude and thanks for all the people at Hillside Imports, especially Rene. Firstly, a couple months ago I called and asked them a question with regards to my battery as I had some bizarre issue I don't recollect what it exactly was, but they were gracious enough to offer me some advice. Later that day I reflected about how nice it was of them to lend their advice and thoughts to me. Then more recently at the time if this writing I had an issue where my car would just die at random moments; unfortunately they could not diagnose the problem but nonetheless reassured me to give them a call when the problem arises again. Continuing, it is extremely nice they did not "find" something wrong with my car to just charge me for something unrelated/irrelevant. If you have any issue with your Audi or Volkswagen, I would 110% without a doubt take it to Hillside Imports; they are the most honest people I have come across and it is very refreshing how kind and honest they are.

Hands down one of the best VW&Audi shops in Portland! Reasonable prices and top tier service.I explained to Rene that I m a student and need my car to drive to Corvallis, and he squeezed me in on a day that they were very busy. Honestly can t say enough good things about Hillsdale imports they re just a good honest shop that I anyone can depend on!I definitely recommend checking them out before going to the dealer, for any services or repairs.

Hillside Imports is one of the best mechanics that I have ever worked with. I have taken my 1987 VW Vanagon there for about four years. The previous owner of the vehicle also took it to these guys. Rene has gone out of his way to help keep my 30 year old vehicle healthy. After recently moving to Texas, the mechanics here said that my vehicle was one of the better maintained Vanagons that they had worked on. I continue to pester Rene with random questions while living thousands of miles away and he is always super helpful. They shoot you straight, help you make informed decisions on the priority of your engine needs, and are dedicated to making your vehicle last as long as possible. Highly recommended!

I trust this company.When my vw began having problems it felt like the dealership was overcharging for every repair so I began looking for a new company to take my car repairs to, I found a few shops that felt more like they were just swapping parts out but not actually knowing what the problem was or how to fix it, myCar problems were not getting any better until I found hillside imports, they were very upfront about what they found, the cost, the timeline, and really did a great job dumming down the issue for someone like me who doesn t know much about cars to understand what repairs needed to be done and why. They service vw diesel cars and that in itself is difficult to find!

I've serviced my Audi A6 here three times. Won't go back to the dealer. Great communication, great customer service. Make sure you park in thier designated parking for customers at the bottom of the hill near beaverton Hillsdale highway

These guys are great. Plain and simple. I came in for a DSG service and they took care of my car like I would. I can back to my car vacuumed, a rattle fixed and a healthy transmission. Spoke with Rene over the phone he gave me an estimate & I had my car towed in. Rene & his team went right to work. They finished my car in a very timely manner. When I went to pick up my car, I found They had even vacuumed out the car for me. A nice surprising touch! Car sounds & runs & drives great!! Thank you Rene! I would definitely recommend this place for All of your Volkswagen needs.

I had always serviced my 2011 Audi at rhe dealer where I purchased it. When i moved to Portland about two years ago I took my A6 to the local dealership and was quoted $2500 to replace and repair various wear items whichwas more than I wanted to pay.I found Hillside Imports and they took my quote from the dealership and their price was almost $1000 cheaper!I gave my business to Hillside Imports and have continued to use them. I'm extremely happy wiih their staff and their service.

They refused to work on my Audi because it had been modified and I didn't know exactly what had been done before I purchased it. Probably a good shop, but hard on the car lingo and wouldn't recommend for someone unfamiliar with cars

A million thank-yous!!Family-owned business is alive and well at Hillside.After being frustrated with Herzog-Meir s poor customer service I started looking for a reputable VW repair shop. I stumbled upon Hillside and read mostly great reviews with the occasional one-off unique issue with a disgruntled customer - nothing too alarming. I had a check engine light that was coming on intermittently and called Hillside to see if they could diagnose the issue. Because a tech was on paternity leave their booking times were a few weeks out. My check engine light was off so I decided to forgo the issue until the light came back on.The next day my sunroof would not close! I immediately drove to Hillside. They took me on a walk-in basis, did an emergency close FREE OF CHARGE?! Since they don t do sunroof repairs (I don t blame them, it s probably a pain!!) they referred me to Armstrong VW.After speaking to the owner about the technicians, she shared that their shortest-tenured tech has been their 4 years and the longest 20 years. This is a sign of a small business that takes care of their employees.I will absolutely be back for anything that s not sunroof related. I was so stressed about my sunroof and this family-owned business came through in a clutch. A million thank-you s to Rene!

Great experience! I bought an 04 Passat from its original owner who had it serviced at Hillside pretty regularly for a few years. A light came on the dash and I decided to take it back to them, they got an appointment for me very quickly and gave me very clear directions for contactless pickup/dropoff. They kept the car for longer than I expected for a diagnosis but I realize that it was because they thoroughly took their time and communicated to me the whole way through! I tried a VW dealership and they couldn t figure it out, neither could the tire shop where I recently got tires and where the light came on. I m so glad that Hillside continued to take great care of this vehicle and made me feel so comfortable! They made recommendations about purchasing a filter (which I will just do myself) and when I declined they were not pushy or aggressively sales-y. Very down to earth people who know their stuff! Pricing was very reasonable and all of the staff was so friendly and helpful. I m very happy with the experience that I had, you can really tell that they care. Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I had an excellent experience at Hillside. Rene was fantastic and very realistic with me about my new to me GTI and what it will need over its lifetime. They did an install of the diesel geek short shift kit (totally recommend that for anyone with a manual VW/ Audi - makes shifting a dream). Install was done same-day, adjusted appropriately and I could tell they really value their clients and take great care of vehicles. Pricing seems fair as well for the excellent level of service provided. Enthusiasts definitely work there, there are some cool cars around the shop.

This shop is amazing we ve been taking our cars to these guys for 10 years, and they ve always taken wonderful care of us. They ve never pressured us into work that we didn t need. They re always eager to answer questions and provide more information so that we can budget for upcoming service and maintenance. They ve also completed two pre-purchase exams for us, and helped us better understand the condition of the vehicles so that we could negotiate with the seller. They ve taken such good care of us that we continue to visit their shop even though we live in N Portland now. Thank you Rene and team, we appreciate you!

Rene has been a great advisor and mechanic to me for years now. I choose to own some somewhat troublesome cars, and Rene always shoots me straight. If something isn't correct, he makes it so. He's part of my trusted network of service professionals. Hillside isn't the cheapest repair shop around, and they shouldn't be, as you get what you pay for. The service and the quality are hard to beat. Thanks Rene and staff for keeping me and my German fleet on the road!

My 07 Rabbit wouldn't turn over and shops around the Portland area told me that it was so many other things and that they would order me all these parts an charge quite a bit. Called Hillsdale imports and they were super nice, ended up being a old battery issue. The big thing is they actually listened to me and realized what it was. They got it in immediately swapped the battery for a very decent price and out in a very short amount of time. Love the no nonsense service. Will be back.

I have used Hillside for both repairs and advice. He recently did a lot of work on my daughter's Jetta. She was considering selling the car and now she is so satisfied that she is going to hang on to it. Rene left a little thank you gift for them when they picked up the car.Then, about a week later, the car experienced another problem. It would not shift out of Park. She was in a drive-thru, which was fortunately closed (HAHA). She had to wait for 2 hours for someone to show up to help ( I was out of town). She got the car to my house and I thought that it was something to do with the trans lock. Turns out, that was not the case. I was able to get the car to Hillside and Rene fixed the issue with no charge.They are always helpful and we could not be more thankful for their service.Service: Engine repair

I've been with VW dealer most of my VW CC life. Expensive and often unprofessional. Came to HI for rear main replacement and was amazed by their professionalism and car knowledge. Also reasonable pricing. It's my shop now. My car loves it, according to the engine sound

We use Hillside for maintenance and repairs on our GTI. They have always done a great job. We recently had a couple of issues that were covered by a warrant we were not aware of. Rene directed us to a VW dealership where we were able to get the repair covered.
