Wonderful interaction with the owner/manager, was shuttled back home and got my car delivered very quickly, about 24hrs after drop off. Milo, Phillis and Ed Thiemman himself were all a pleasure to talk with. Intermediate service cost was roughly the same price as the Porsche dealership, but much easier to get in their shop schedule and faster turnaround. Will be back with my air-cooled 911.

Always, I repeat Always, repairs at Heckmann Thiemann are exceptionally. No sales simply efficient repairs and service. For years and years, I sought resolve for my 1979 SuperBettle. Only Heckmann Thiemann recognized and resolved the problem. Immediately! Not even the Volkswagen dealership could help me! The people - each and every one of them are so very kind, understanding. They live service. A Special Place. Special People.

I have finally found an independent Porsche service that I am truly happy with. Their team really treats you, and your car as family. Brian, Milo and team took great care of my 964. Only reason it's not a 5 star is because it took a bit longer than I had wanted, but if you want someone to take the best care of your car, take it to Heckman & Thiemann. From the diagnosis, to the estimate and the top notch, quality workmanship, this is the best business in town for care of your favorite vehicle. I wouldn't think twice in putting the care of my car in their capable hands. The car is sorted better than it's been in years.

I have to admit, I ve been going to various Porsche repair shops and dealerships for years. I have been to many all over the U.S. My experience with Heckmann & Thiemann was the very best. From the kind reception, to the walk around, to the texts, emails, and invoices, the entire experience was exceptional. Everyone was kind and professional. A quick glimpse into the facility speaks volumes: classics, supercars, customs, poor man Porsches, VWs, Audis, you name it. What a great experience. They have gained a customer who has no intention of changing shops. We have an older car 19 years to e exact. H & T never makes us feel less than any other customer. They are always friendly and helpful, their repairs are spot on, and from all we can tell from past experience, their prices are not excessive. We ve had our car in three times, from minor repairs to major, and just for an inspection before a long trip, which they did for free. The team at Heckman & Thiemann was recommended to me by my long-trusted repair shop for specialty expertise with VWs. They didn't disappoint; very thorough, fast, and fair priced. I had a follow up question and they invited me to drop by at my convenience. They looked at my Tiguan on the spot (turned out no action needed in this case) and even fixed one of my brake lights in 5 min for no charge. Shout out to Rashann (sorry if I've butchered your name, Sir!) and the team!

Service on tire alignment was very good; however the extra charge (supposedly to pay for computer upgrades on alignment equipment) was a surpirse. There was no fluids, etc. for disposal but also a extra charge to dispose of the wiper blades was also questionable; I could have disposed of them at home and no charge would supposedly been incurred. These surprise charges should be rethought.Services: Wheel alignment, Wiper blade installation

I have gone to H and T for 20 years and won t take a Porsche anywhere else. The new building is so much better and really showcases what they are doing. Something about Ed (who is in year 50 something of working on air cooled) still being there to chat that makes it fun.

Just got the car back one day ago. So far, so good. Never used H&T before and the work requested looks to have been performed. Car was finished on time and communication with the shop was excellent. This business is rotten to its core. Last year, Heckmann & Thiemann Motors gave me a factually incorrect diagnosis of my car which led to the destruction of my Touareg's engine. I repeatedly tried to compromise with them, and yet the owner refused to take any responsibility for their incorrect report and blamed me for not asking them to double-check their results. They told me that I should have said there was a possibility a certain part may have been damaged, but the WHOLE POINT of the diagnosis I got from them was to check over that part anyways. I am now out THOUSANDS of dollars due to their failure to properly inspect a critical part of my vehicle - apparently they aren't capable of giving you a correct report of your vehicle's health without you telling them what's wrong with it beforehand?? I filed a lawsuit against them which was dismissed, but the handful of lawyers I have talked to all stated that the referee (not even a judge) ignored the contract I signed with H&T and misunderstood and incorrectly applied multiple aspects of Oregon law. The owners acted like children and ignored my communications even when I tried to compromise with them, questioned my integrity, and completely dismissed the photo evidence I sent them. Sure, I bet that 99% of the time you'll have a great experience here with some great mechanics. But the other 1% of the time when they make a mistake, you'll be dealing with the most disgusting business practices I've ever experienced and an owner and president who will never accept responsibility for their mistakes while blaming you for not reminding them how to do their job properly. So ask yourself, are you willing to take that 1% chance? Because I know I'm not. Go find yourself an actual upstanding auto shop in Portland, there are a lot to choose from.

The work on my car seems to have been done well, and I'm happy with the mechanic. The reason for the 2 star rating is that I was twice reassured on timelines of my repair and twice disappointed. I had to call them to figure out what was going on with my car, instead of them calling me. It's frustrating to be promised that the work will be done only to return the rental car and find out that my car had been pushed to the next day. It would have saved me a lot of time and frustration if the communication would have been straightforward and honest. I think management and the front office need to improve their communication and workflow with customers. The entire process caused me a lot of frustration.

Brought my car into H&T for the first time last week. All I can say is that I can see why they have been in business for 55+ years, the service is excellent, the diagnostics and pricing are honest, and my car is running like a dream.They gave me a full diagnostic (down to the windshield spray nozzles) and were super clear about what in the report was a nice-to-have vs a need-to-have. Their reporting has a distinct emphasis on safety and car longevity.So happy I found them!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

I initially had a fantastic experience here, but unfortunately cannot in good conscience recommend that anyone go to H&T. I had brought my Touareg here in part to get a second opinion on what another shop claimed was a damaged engine mount, but after H&T's 54-point inspection stated that both engine mounts were in good condition, I trusted the judgement of a specialized German auto shop over the generic one that my car was at previously and did not replace the engine mount.However, the engine mount truly was damaged and somehow was completely missed on the 54-point inspection. This led to the destruction of the second engine mount as well as catastrophic engine damage. I had a phone call to discuss the issue I was facing a few days ago, in which I was very polite, but both the owner and the manager blamed me because I hadn't mentioned the possibly damaged mount, which was true. I forgot to mention it initially because there were other more pressing issues, and trusted the integrity of the 54-point inspection report claiming that the mounts were in good condition when I saw it. Even though the manager claimed that even aesthetic and not structural damage on any part would be noted on the report, the damaged engine mount was somehow completely missed. It is not my responsibility to specifically mention a part that should have been checked on the 54-point inspection anyways. My engine is now destroyed and H&T blamed me because I "took the car on a road trip and destroyed the engine" when it is literally an auto shop's job to make note of unknown issues on a diagnostic report. Both the owner and manager repeatedly dodged my question asking if the claimed good health of the engine mount on the 54-point inspection was misleading or outright incorrect. It is not a complicated or hard part to notice - another mechanic at a shop a few weeks ago noticed that both mounts were broken within a minute of looking in the engine bay for an entirely unrelated issue.Edit: I have tried multiple times to clearly explain my claims to the H&T team and they continue to dodge my questions and lie. I made it clear that I have a huge amount of evidence to back up my claims and they never expressed any interest to see it or to reach a compromise. Their response to this review entirely misses my point and contains a handful of straight up lies (I did not decline all the work suggested by them and they EXPLICITLY told me it would be OKAY to take on a long trip). I would restate that you should find another more upstanding auto shop in the Portland area. There are a lot to choose from.

Heckmann and Thiemann have cared for my car for a long time. They are professional, incredibly knowledgeable and competent, and stand by their work. The staff is helpful and friendly and the work they do is excellent. I don't know whether it's more or less expensive than other shops. In fact, I don't think about it because their professionalism, good judgment, and care for their customers is so valuable to me.

I cannot say enough nice things about the folks here. I trust them 1000%. I took my Boxster in, and they fixed her up. Their mechanic trained at Porsche in Germany so you know he knows!

Heckmann & Thiemann Motors has been my car treatment place of choice from the moment I bought my Porsche 911!!!! The dealership had been really nice to me when I had a previous car which had broken down right in front of the dealership....This place is quite simply the best in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Thiemann has total integrity, and the work his company has done on my car has always been top-notch!!!!! I am so glad I found them (even before they moved), and would totally encourage any Porsche owner to go here too!!!! Whenever I go in, it is like going to a Porsche museum, as there are so many nice cars being worked on by the expert staff.To put it most simply, I love Heckmann & Thiemann Motors as much as I love my car because of the nice people there and the great work they do!!!!Bob Mandel

Car sat in the shop for 2 months. It makes sense as they have soo many vehicles and very little technicians.The inspection system they use is very thorough and they take pictures of everything with what needs to be completed right away and what can wait.Technicians and staff are very nice people.It seems that this is their busy season and sometimes things are out of their control.Service: Vehicle Inspection

Heckmann & Thiemann is the only service company for my 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S. I had some general oil change service done and also had them troubleshoot an electrical problem I was having. I was able to leave my car with them while I was out of town for 10 days to allow the proper time for them to troubleshoot. Had great communications from Norma throughout the whole process and picked up my car once I returned and they fixed my electrical issue. Great service!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I trust my car is in good hands at H&T. Been going there for more than 15 years and feel the info I receive is trustworthy, thorough, reliable and professional. We have a 2002 Eurovan so visits can be expensive; luckily we don t go in often. They treat their employees like they are family and have a profit sharing approach, which I love. I d highly recommend H&T.

It's great to know a mechanic that I can trust. When my car needed service after business hours on a Friday night, H&T answered the phone, stayed late, and gave me a ride home. Their excellent mechanics diagnosed and fixed my car within two business days (and I know that they were busy). Many thanks! I can't recommend H&T enough.

Great place. Professional, friendly staff. I have owned two Jetta s over then span of maybe a decade and always taken my car here, both locations. There was a one-off bad experience when a repair didn t really fix my issue and caused some heartburn, but that was awhile ago and it really felt like an isolated incident from one particular person. I went back just recently and it was a very pleasant experience. Really cool shop, super friendly staff, and my car is running smooth.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes, Oil change

I highly recommend Heckmann and Thiemann Motors, they are celebrating 51 years in business this year. Great service, honest, reliable and never try to sell you anything you don't need. Incredible reputation, hands down, the only place to take your car(s) if you own a Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Mini Cooper or Subaru. A place you can feel safe and confident, that your vehicle is in the best hands possible.

I have used them in the past for my 2002 Westfalia now I have a Mercedes Metris pop top. Took it to them for transmission service. Estimate was right on done on time .Mary was great to deal with as usual. Staff and owners are always a pleasure to deal with.

I was buying a car sight unseen across the country due to covid and had no desire to get on a plane. This shop worked with me over the phone to setup appointment, and performed a very detailed PPI that found things wrong with the 911 turbo that I was purchasing, things i would've never found if I looked at the car myself. The report was 35 pages long with pictures of everything and comments. Gave me a bargaining chip and ultimately peace of mind to go through with the purchase. Norma in particular was great and worked with me till I was completely satisfied with the inspection. The PPI cost almost double what I saw quoted on most porsche forums, but these guys are top notch and you get what you pay for.
