I ve taken my Honda element to Best Auto a few times this year and I ve appreciated the level of communication and transparency with price and service.Recently my family and I got in the Element to start a road trip and discovered the battery was dead and wouldn t jump. I called Best at 5:30pm and Eduardo went out of his way to pick up a battery after closing the shop, brought it by our place and installed it. He really saved our trip and was generous and kind. Exceptional service.

Alejandro is awesome! He was able to get me in and out within a few hours on the same day. I was quoted more than two times the price for the same job to fix broken studs. Best auto repair was able to save me $300-$400.

TO BE HONEST IF I CAN GIVE THEM LESS THAN A STAR I WOULD!!!When I arrived to my appointment, everything seemed to be in order, I was even allowed to stay in my car which I love the most. My Chevy equinox had cap fittings over the lug nuts which started to strip a little bit not enough to wear it was in manageable cuz I did myself with home tools. After about a good 7 to 12 minutes of them banging on tool to get around my look note which was still a testimony tire at the time he shows the lug nut cap and asked if he was able to do away with it in order to get the job done I agreed, as I'm driving off of the lot I realize my limit is now out of order call them immediately and ask if they could fix it for me or send me to a shop where they can pay for it. they strung me along over the course of the new year weekend this year and then on the 4th day of me calling he reluctantly declined to even know what I was speaking about and I spoke to the same mechanic the entire 4 days I was calling and tried to say that I was the one that messed up my alignment!! IF YOU CHERISH YOUR VEHICLE I REPEAT DO NOT DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS PLACE THEY ARE HORRIBLE WITH BUSINESS AND COMMUNICATIONING

I can t say enough good things about Best Auto. Alejandro, Eduardo and the rest of the crew did a careful analysis of my old (but beloved) SUV, patiently explained what was going on in clear terms, and worked tirelessly to find a solution. It is so difficult to find an honest repair shop with fair prices, and Best Auto Repair is a that rare example of an honest business that does their job very well, and recognizes that a happy customer will keep coming back. I am certainly one of them, and I have now recommended Best Auto to multiple friends and family. They are now my go-go repair shop for all of my vehicle needs in Portland, and I can t recommend Best Auto Repair enough.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

Had a terrible experience here. Eduardo installed an expensive part without my permission. He apologized for this and said it s good business to move the process along. I needed to save time so I installed without your permission.. sorry. So sorry. He had also emptied my engine oil to push an oil change. He stole a fuse out of my car which started multiple electrical problems. He kept my car for 4 days with almost no communication and zero phone calls. He tried to double the labor of the part being replaced and did the job 2 days prior to me calling for the diagnostic! After I got my car out of his shop with more issues then when I started, I took it to another shop who fixed it in less than 2 hours. They found the missing fuse and gave me a free one because it had been obviously stolen. They gave me the synthetic oil my car runs on for a discounted price. Eduardo didn t realize I stay up on my oil changes. I don t have an oil leak. So when he showed me my oil was literally gone, I knew immediately he d emptied it for more money. Then embarrassed and in a hurry he put regular oil in my car to further damage the situation. This shop seems nice and I see some nice reviews but honestly this is a dangerous place. You never know where they cut corners, the parts they break on purpose and whether you ll get your car back in 4 days or 3 weeks. I hate accusing people because I try to give the benefit of the doubt almost to a fault but I have to write this review on principle for others to know what s really going on. Eduardo and his mechanics are not honest and do not communicate. I ended up spending $200 extra to fix the issues they caused. I ll let you decide whether you want them to work on your car but my advice is to stay away. Far away.Service: General repairs & maintenance

We set up an appt at 9am when they opened. The employees did not show until 9:22am. We stood out in the cold. We finally spoke to the employee and the manager and we re told they would not be able to get a diagnostic on our car until 2 days later. This mechanic thinks diagnostics are hard and take a long time . They were untrustworthy and I knowledgeable. We took our business elsewhere.

Thought they were a nice shop that helped fix my car when my cv axel went out. Come to find out they only half fixed it and caused more problems than before that I had to go spend more money on to fix at another shop because they wouldn't fix their mistake or return my calls. Their fixes here are definitely short term do not go here for proper repair on your vehicle

Honest and decent, I'll go back for sure. Quick service too.My catalytic converter was stolen. They fixed it the same day, but my truck still sounded bad so I took it back and asked them to have another look. The guy was very pleasant to deal with, they has a 2nd look and reinstalled the CC at no charge -- honest, decent, and competent.

TLDR: Jorge and everyone else at Best Auto were awesome and did my repairs at a very reasonable price. I scheduled an appointment with Best Auto to repair a power window and my air conditioning. The morning I went to take my car in, I turned my car on to discover my catalytic converter had been stolen, leaving with them with a lot more work than I'd scheduled my car for! They did the original repairs and worked with my insurance company to get the catalytic converter and related damage taken care of. My insurance company was slow, but they were fast. The cost of all this work was incredibly reasonable and I will definitely be using them again!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair, A/C installation & repair

Awesome awesome shop!! Got me in same day and charged wayyyyy less than other quotes! Other shops were wanting to do all this other stuff and these guys were able to replace the parts needed without the 2-300$ extra labor costs of removing intake and such. Great communication and friendly!! Rare to find shops like this these days!

A million star reviewMy car broke down 10 miles outside of Portland on a road trip from the Bay Area. It was a Friday night so nothing was open Saturday except here. I coordinated a tow the next morning and was given full transparency on the issues with the truck. At the time I thought it was something minor but beyond inspection I blew my head gasket. So long story I had to fly back to the bay all while they worked on my truck. Throughout the process they were great at keeping me informed and keeping deadlines. Flew back to Portland 2 weeks later and drove my truck back without issues can t say thanks enough! Def recommend them without hesitation!Service: Engine repair

Great prices, great work, and the most attentive customer service anywhere. Eduardo and crew have kept me on the road for almost ten years and it's no exaggeration to say they're a godsend. Eduardo has always taken the time to listen to my concerns and will always explain what's needed, what he's going to be ordering/replacing and why. Also very important to me is that when i do have concerns, he will tell me when they're just baseless worries, that i'm in good shape and have no need for repairs instead of taking advantage of my anxiety. If you're looking to save money on car repairs ( and who isn't) this shop absolutely should be your first call. They do excellent fast work, come in right at the estimate, and don't upsell and try to nickel and dime more money out of you like other shops. They were timely, did the repairs well , and stayed in communication. My only gripe is with the parking situation. You have to leave your car parked on the street due to little parking at the shop itself. But a small inconvenience for saving hundreds of dollars. Thanks best auto I'll definitely be back.

Hands down the best auto shop in the city. They ve been my mechs for the last 13 years and even when they make a mistake, they correct it.. 3 bimmers, 2 lincoln ls s, a dodge intrepid brought back to life.. I cannot say enough about this wonderful shop. Get us in in only a few days? They are super courteous treated us like family. The price was soon reasonable. Eduardo explained everything fixed it quickly and really stressed I should come right back if there were any problems. I had such a great experience I would give them a thousand stars! I feel really lucky to have found Best Auto. My daughter was having engine problems with her Jeep, and I asked around for recommendations. The guy at the auto parts store suggested Best, and I'm glad I listened. Eduardo got the Jeep in quickly, and and assessed the problem. He got the Jeep up and running, and though engine work is expensive, his price was very fair (I called around for a few opinions, and no one quoted me a lower price). I've had a few unrelated issues come up since, and Eduardo always goes above and beyond, at a fair price. He's good about telling me if something is safe to wait on, or if it really needs to be repaired immediately. I plan to take my other car there for a tune up when it's due, because the guys at Best are all great, and have proven trustworthy.

Eduardo saved the day and was able to fit me in on short notice as I was trying to find a place that could take my car on a Friday. He was quick to assess the problems with my car and backed up his recommendations for replacing the alternator and belts by taking the time to show me the test results and the physical signs of a worn belt. The crew is fast, communication was honest and the prices were fair. Best part was I had my car back in working order in under a couple hours.

Called in the morning to see if I could in for some estimates for work and a few basic maintenance tasks. Not only did they make time within the hour for my oil change and tire repair but they fixed my brakes and got me an estimate for a more lengthy repair. The service was top notch and I ll definitely be back!

Best Auto Repair fixed up my old Subaru at a fair price. Eduardo is the best mechanic I've taken my car to. He went out of the way to accurately diagnose the cause my vehicle's problem, and fixed it correctly the first time.

Found a transmission fluid drip under my car. Ran it in to Best Auto and they located the leak and fixed it quickly - no charge! Turns out It was a loose connection from my cooling hose to the radiator. They brought out a wrench and some cleaner and had me on my way in 10 minutes. Of course they don't work for free, but most shops would have charged me to just pop the hood. It's the little things that count! :)

They replaced my brake rotors today with a set I ordered in line. Special order, cryo treated, rotors you can't get from NAPA. They didn't balk about customer supplied parts which most shops do because they double the parts price to make $ on both the parts and the labor.The place seemed a bit random but they finished my work on the same day and I noticed they replaced some bushings that weren't really part of the job to do the job right. Impressive.They charged a fair price for the work and did it very well. I have some more work that I'll take to them soon. Great work.

Best Auto Repair took us right at the end of a workday on super short notice. A piece of plastic was dragging on the bottom of my Honda Fit. They were super nice and really quick about the repair - highly recommend!

The man who helped me was nice and helpful. He gave me an extremely fair price for changing my headlight, I didn't have to wait for forever like most places, and he even helped me by scrubbing the outside of my headlight. I will most definitely be back!

We took the van in to have the AC repaired (warm air coming out of vents instead of cold). They gave it back almost 2 days later. Still doesn't work, but it does make a horrible electric shock sound and smell like Freon. We called to see if we could get it back in to get the new problem fixed but no one has returned our calls and frankly I don't have faith that they could fix it anyway.
