I've driven past Battery X-Change for many years, never before in need of their services, but always enjoying this building as an example of what SE Portland used to be like.A recent set of issues with my car made it necessary to have a professional deal with it, and the kind Local Guides who have reviewed this place before me made it easy to decide on a specialist.A preliminary phone call made it clear that they could help me, and would be able to do so without an appointment. Their layout, with 2 driveup parking spaces under the canopy, made a Covid-distanced rainy day visit perfectly pleasant. The technician was able to work under the hood while I stood by the rear quarter panel, and could easily hear and see his commentary and progress.My car was fixed quickly, without being sold anything unnecessary. It's good to know that helpful experts are still available for traditional car troubles.

Helped a friend get a new battery. An old gas station on the corner, easy to get to, rather cramped entrance to the garage. Dude was kinda strict about people being in the garage itself, but good service.

I brought my battery in to get tested, and it was in fact going bad. Scott was very helpful in recommending a battery for me and did not pressure me like a salesman. I ended up doing some research on my own that afternoon and came back the next day and purchased an optima red top for my battery. Scott did a great job installing the new battery along with cleaning up the wiring from my harness to the terminal posts and custom fit the battery I wanted. Very happy with the work and warranty optima offers. Highly recommend this location and their services. Thanks guys!

Really bad customer RUDE .He said he changed my battery asked me to step out it take him 2mn he said DONE .1 week later the battery died again I don t think he changed the battery (ripoff.)When I call him he hang up on me

So last Wednesday on 2.22.23 was my daughters birthday and I had to be in Albany at a certain time and I went to three other places (that were not very nice) before finding out there's a actual place that specializes in batteries. When I showed up Troy helped me immediately and called the shop on 20th in Belmont to tell them I was on my way. I think because Troy acted so fast I was able to get the alternator replaced right away by Brian. I give this company 222 stars and thumbs up from my experience. I really couldn't have found a better business than this one! I was on time to see my daughter on her birthday and thanks to these guys I was able to get through the snow storm stuck on the freeway safely. They really made a miracle happen for me that day and I will always recommend this business along with supporting it myself. Hope this helps anyone wanting to try this place out. I say do it you can tell these guys really know what it means to work together and run a business they are all Awesome!! Thank you so much Troy and Brian you guys really made a huge difference for me that day!

Bryan at Battery X-Change was super helpful to me and did amazing work, replacing a starter in a difficult moment and he was both speedy and did not overcharge. In fact, it was a great price and I will recommend to any and everyone. Good example of someone doing legit business in these troubled times.

Brian at the battery exchange at 20th and Belmont Went out of his way to help me get my truck running. I totally enjoyed doing business with him and his partner. I purchased a really nice powerful jump starter.I found it a great place to do business.

Oh my word! The amazing help that I received from Brian was beyond beyond! My car died across the street from the shop ..it had had what I thought were battery issues, so when I noticed Battery Exchange right there, I ran over and asked him if he could take a look. Not only did he try to jump it with his professional kit, he installed two new batteries to try to solve the problem, but to no avail. He diagnosed the problem as a bad starter, which he said that he could install for me. He then offered to tow my car across the street, into the shop, but my car didn't have the right kind of bumper. So...I had to call my roadside assistance, and leave the car keys with Brian so he could meet the towing company as I had to go to work. Brian got the new starter and had it installed for me by the next morning! He deserves much praise and thanks! Cheryl

My 1990 Ford pickup would not start so I heard from my window washer that the battery exchange was a great place to go with a reasonable price and that they are very honest so I tried out Brian. He had the truck for about 3 days trying to figure out why there was no power when you tried to start it and finally he figured it all out. I was pretty amazed and very happy . He was very reasonably priced be priced and a great guy to work with and kept me informed every step of the way. He went above and beyond trying to figure out what was going on with my truck and in the end he did . I am so happy and I would absolutely recommend him!

I was thoroughly impressed with the kindness that was shown to me by the shop s owner Brian. I had previously purchased a new battery from him and needed some assistance due to some start up issues with my car. I dropped by the shop but due to an overload of work, Brian wasn t able to assist me at that moment. He graciously offered to drop by my house after work to remove my battery and drop it back off the following day after he had a chance to charge it with his equipment. As promised, he brought it back the next evening and the car has been running great since. It is rare these days to come across someone who is willing to go above and beyond your expectations. Thank you Brian for your graciousness. I will not only return to your establishment but will share my experience with others who would appreciate your excellent service.

These guys were great, helped me troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve my problem...very affordable, with used/refurbished parts, and they were very transparent, which I highly value. Highly recommend!!

After calling all over town to get in ASAP after my car battery died, Battery X-Change was the only place that could get me in on the same day. The mechanic was very professional, was able to answer all my questions and got me out of there quickly on the same day. Would recommend this mechanic shop to anyone looking for great, hassle free service.

Best experience I've ever had at an auto shop. Brian is a real one and the most friendly mechanic I've had the pleasure to work with. They saved me easily a hundred bucks at least giving THEE best price on a new battery AND installation. NOT an easy task for my car either (battery being behind the front headlight & having to literally take the tire off to get to it).These guys really do go above and beyond to give their best and it shows. Could not reccomend them more. Keep up the good work guys!

Ready, quick, competent serviceI knew I needed a battery for a 2016 Honda Odyssey dur to 3 year lifespan.Brian quickly confirmed end-of-life, had parts on hand, and installed.Done in 15 minutes and a great experience at a competitive price.Made my day, great service!

About a month ago I had a friend who was stuck with a flat tire, but she didn't have a tire tool and the one I had was to small so I didn't know what else to do so I walked in and asked Brian if he could loan me a wrench to help me and I had offered my ID and my credit card and explained my situation. Brian was happy to help me with a large ratchet and the correct size socket so I could get the tire off. Without Brian's help I don't know what it would have cost me to get my friend back on the road. I'm very thankful for the help he gave I will be visiting the next time I need a battery and I've told all my friends that this is the place to go for honest and friendly service. Thank you again Brian I appreciate all your help.

Brian is the best! Had a huge runaround getting an alternator that would work on my car, and was above and beyond in getting it done with amazing speed and cheerful attitude despite all the changes in strategy. Highly recommend.

Had to go here yesterday after our battery finally failed. Scott helped us and was incredibly speedy and professional. He gave me two price options (with honest pros and cons) and when I opted for the lower price he wasn't pushy. No upselling here, just haggle free service! And when I say speedy, we were in and out in under 7 minutes. Would definitely recommend and Scott will be our go-to for any battery issues.

Charles was awesome. It was so easy to get my Hyundai back up and running. And while I waited, I got to meet Lily, the dog next door. Overall, an incredibly pleasant experience. Highly recommend this place!

I love this place, awhile ago I went to Jiffy Lube and said my battery needed replacement, so I got a second opinion. Came here and the fella, hooked up his machine checked battery fluids and said it was in good condition. After that, this place has earned my business, just recently brought my different car, this time the battery was the problem after he checked. Affordable pricing and was in and out. Definitely recommend this place to everyone I know or who is reading this review.

So I went to Valvoline to get my oil changed, they told me I needed a new battery. So I went in to get a new battery and the guy who was working today said my battery is fine. I did not need a new battery. So I ran thinking I needed the new battery, and the guy could have ripped me off But did not. When I do need any battery I will be back to See you guys.

Called them up a few weeks back looking for a deep cycle battery and inverter for a small off grid solar setup.I had a 12v, 100ah battery pretty firmly in mind. They asked some excellent questions about what I had in mind and then pointed me toward a better option for off grid backup storage, at roughly the same price/wH.Really appreciate how they took the time to carefully answer my questions and choose the best batteries for me.They could have just taken my money and sold me exactly what I asked for even though it was suboptimal, but they didn't. They took the time and provided expert advice to help me understand why a pair of 6v, 224aH batteries were much better for my needs.They also helped me compare prices and capacities and talk through the pros and cons with the other batteries I had in mind.Then they ordered the batteries and inverter from the warehouse and I was able to drive up and pick them up within just a few hours.Really happy with the batteries. Would recommend and will be back if I decide to expand my storage.

Great place with excellent staff. I couldn t get my car to start or mange to jump it. Brought the battery down to Battery X-Change and they tested it. Totally dead, bad battery, tons of corrosion, it was all bad. They hooked me up with a replacement battery and a two year warranty with my exchange for around half of what it would have cost anywhere else. They even told me to bring my car down once I got it moving so they could clean the terminals and check my alternator for me. Made it home and she turned turned right over. I brought the whole car back and they cleaned it up and reassured me that my alternator was fine. You can t beat the service or the price that this place provides. I ll be back, just hopefully not for a while.

I had just loaded up my flowers for delivery wnen I noticed that my battery light was on. I we t to Autozone to put it on the scope but the 2 kids were only about to say that I had a full battery. I went to Les Schaub only to be told that it probably was an alternator but they don't change them. I knew that I could be stranded. I them went to the closest Battery Exchange. Brian diagnosed that it was the alternator but the store was going to close in an hour. I needed my jeep fixed and to make my deliveries tonight and needed to work Sunday. I tried to think what I was going to do. Then Brian said if he could get the part within 20 minutes, he would stay late to fix it. My luck was in my favor. Bless Brian's heart! He saved me alot of time and stress. My weekend would have totally been ruined if I wasn't able to have my jeep up and running. I have been to Battery Exchange in the past and have always been very satisfied with their work and treatment. Kuddos to Brian for fixing my jeep when he could have been off of work to enjoy his weekend.

Scott was great. I took my car to O Reily and Les Scwab for advice and the both tried to sell me things I didn t need. I took it to Scott and he fixed my car FOR NO CHARGE. It was a small battery issue but still, trust these guys over the larger auto shops. 10/10 recommend.

Awesome service, this is my second time going to them. Each time they were quick, very helpful and friendly. They tested my battery and let me use a free loaner battery while recharging the old one overnight. There is absolutely no other place I will ever go to for battery related car troubles. These guys are great.
