I used to go here all the time for their great work. I moved and hadn't gone for a while. My car suddenly had an issue, I was near 1st Choice and limped my car over. They confirmed it was my transmission was shot, which was going to cost $5,000 to $8,000 to repair. Brandon offered to call the dealership to check on a possible extended warranty. I was ecstatic to find out my car was covered. They put the transmission back together just like it had been and helped in getting it towed to the dealership. Then the frosting on the cake, a couple of days later Brandon followed up to make sure all was well with my car. They are the best. Great work and great prices. I will be returning!

My car was having problems and a friend recommended 1st Choice Auto. I am so glad I found them. They went above and beyond in solve the problems my car was having. Since 2013 I have been giving my old Toyota Camry here on a regular basis for servicing and repairs. Earlier John, now mostly Brandon is taking care of my car s needs. This place has excellent technicians and give you the best work. I have complete faith in their work, timeline and pricing, they never over charge you, or postpone the job, or cut corners. My Car had an emissions system problem light come on they read the codes and came up with Fuel Pump and Catalytic Converter issues, they said since both were very expensive and not super likely for a car with my mileage that we should slow play it and clear the codes and see if they return before doing any expensive and possibly unnecessary work and said if it was a Catalytic Converter issue to take to the dealership as it is covered under federal warranty. Turned out to be a Catalytic Converter issue and their expertise saved me a ton of money. Will definitely be taking my car in again when needed.

Always honest and willing, never pressuring. We spent years searching for a trustworthy mechanic and can t be happier with John, Brandon, and the guys at 1st Choice. Just this week our AC was out (during 100� heat!) and we had a long road trip ahead. They were willing to try the cheapest solutions first and then saved us about $1500 by diagnosing and replacing a specific part of the compressor rather than just going for the whole system. Huge help and all with our timeline in mind. Grateful we found these guys.

I have been a customer over the last year and a half and have always been provided great and knowledgeable service, competitive and fair pricing, and a true sense of wanting to do right by the customer. If they couldn t diagnose or repair a problem they would tell you frankly and if it was something within their power to fix, it has always been done quickly and with great care and quality. They have really become my go to mechanic.

Short version - I trust these guys to be fair, honest, and do good work.Details: We've been using these guys for 10 years and through multiple vehicles, incl ones owned by extended family as well. John is owner/manager of this location, and runs it with the very capable help of Josh and Brandon. From the basic oil changes to smiling transmissions, they are always honest with us about whether something really needs to be done right away. They'll also give us an estimate of how soon it's likely to come back up, if we decide to hold off on a repair till it's truly needed. They tell us anytime there's some small thing we ask about that could probably be done just as easily by us, if we want to save a few bucks. If we don't, they're happy to do it. They explain things clearly, and do not interact with me any differently because I'm female. They've done used car pre-purchase inspections for me, and they've never steered me wrong. In fact, they saved me 2 different times from purchasing vehicles that would've likely had major repairs coming up soon after, IF I'd bought them... phew!If you want a fair, friendly, reasonably priced and reliable mechanic - First Choice is the way to go! Thanks guys!

I had an emergency when I was driving on I5 and needed to pull over. I found 1st Choice by Google search and they were the closest. So here I am at 2:30 on Friday before a holiday weekend, pickup truck loaded, dog, and black smoke coming out of my rear tire. John and every single one of the staff were friendly -- it's that rare thing where you could tell that the employees were glad to be there. They fit me in to put my truck on the lift. They diagnosed the problem and gave me a temporary fix to get me 120 miles to my destination and refused to accept any money from me!!! In the two hours that I was in the waiting room, I saw customer after customer come in and talk to John on a first name basis. They all raved about how great this place was and the high quality of service they've gotten over the years. I highly recommend 1st Choice Auto. If I lived nearby they would be my auto mechanics.

Brought my car here to get a second opinion after being told I needed a new transmission from pacific car care. They found the problem and fixed it and my car is good to go. Brandon was great, explained things to me and was nice. They are professional, honest, and quick. This is my go to mechanic from now on.

Being from England, honesty is very big.I've taken my vehicle to this place several times over the past couple of years, and I must say these bloke's are Outstanding...If you or anyone you know needs any car repairs, you really need to call this place and take your Bum straight to them...Tell them the Chocolate Englishman sent you and you'll sing all the way home...Brandon is excellent to work with, exceptional service.

I d like to personally recommend 1st Choice Auto Service in TIGARD. Brandon was the gentleman that address my issue with my vehicle, from the first call to 1CAS to pick up ,mind you on a Friday too. Brandon, listened to my problem, assisted it told me he could replaced the alternator if I delivered to his facility by 12:30pm he would have it removed and replaced, that they close at 6:00pm. Well BAM ! He made it happen ! I was very impressed to see a business delivered what they promised, I m old school , I must say the whole staff presented themselves as professional, knowledgeable, excellent people skills. I would highly recommend taking your car to be diagnosed and fixed by this shop. People at this shop are very honest and honor your time. I dropped my car for changing brakes thinking that it might be needing new ones. After checking, they called us to tell that my brakes are fine and they dont need to replaced. They saved my unnecessary expenses. I would be definitely returning to them as a customer whenever my car needs to be repaired including brakes.

Always go here. We moved to Oregon in 2017 and John at first choice has been our go to guy. He's knowledgeable and stands by his work, priced very fairly too. We used to be able to get in quicker, but I understand why they're busier- they do a really good job! He's fit me in though in a pinch/emergency. After hours drop off available too!

Update: Not sure why the guy (Brandon?) on the phone kept saying John has been retired! Got a call from John today and turns out John is still running the shop. But the price is certainly pretty much the same as the dealership. If you don't mind the price, John is definitely one of the most honest owner around town.This was my favorite shop before the owner (John) retired. Ever since he retired, I did a couple of quote with this shop and price is pretty much the same as the dealership (toyota). End up going to Les schwab for the bearing replacement and save myself a couple hundred dollars. So be sure to get a few quote including the dealership. If the price is similar, you may be better off going to the dealership where they use original parts instead of aftermarket stuffs.

Had some unique and peculiar things that my car needed addressed and they did a great job of assessing what it really needed and what could wait and taking care of the items that I needed taken care of in a cost-effective way. Definitely will be continuing to use them to maintain my vehicles.

Incredible service!!I can assure you that you will not get rip off. They take their business seriously! I went in for an oil change a few days ago. After the service was done, I asked them if they found any issue on my car. The mechanic told me that I would only need to change the front brake pad in the next couple months (Which I already know, it needs to be replaced). I have been rip off by an auto shop so I honor those that deal their business honestly. This deserve a 5 stars.

Brandon was so helpful around my car issues and informing me of different options. I felt safety and trust which I have not felt at an auto shop before. The price of repair was quoted more than half the price the dealership gave which is amazing. I will be a returning customer. Thank you!

I am one of those people that are very skeptical about mechanic shops, I know enough to know whether they are telling the truth or not, but I don't have enough time to get the job done.John and his team have always been very straightforward with me, even when they could charge for additional services, they've always asked first or made recommendations on how to reduce the cost.The work is great A, they are on time, and prices are extremely reasonable for what they do. This is the reason that I take my personal vehicles to them.I wish that they would take box trucks so I could take my work trucks to them as well.

These guys are incredible. I've been bringing my Honda Accord to them for 4 years now and had 2 specific experiences that have solidified my loyalty. First, I got my car inspected at the local dealership and was quoted at $1500 to get timing chain replaced. I was gutted, but decided to at least take it to 1st Choice for the actual work. When all was said and done, it came in at $350. And they changed my oil for free. And then last year, my car was having trouble starting and took it in to get looked at. They thought it was the alternator and replaced it for $250, but after the repair was still having trouble. Took it back in and they discovered it was the started and replaced that as well, free of charge! I couldn't believe it and they apologized for the hassle.First class service that always comes in cheaper, quicker and friendlier than any other maintenance place I've had to deal with. Love these guys.

My nephew found this shop a couple of years ago when he had a problematic Jeep Cherokee. My brother (my nephews dad) and I were impressed by John and the crew - they're nice, honest, and do excellent work. I took my car in a few months ago, thinking the back brakes needed to be replaced and instead John told me they didn't, they just cleaned out some dust that had got in there and was causing the sound, and sent me on my way with no charge. I recommend this shop to EVERYONE.

As a 55 year old customer service manager, I can count on 1 hand the times I ve felt compelled to write a review about services I ve received. Well, it has happened again; I feel compelled to share my experience at 1st Choice Auto Service.I am somewhat analytical in nature. Before I make a purchase, or go to a company for services, I always try to find reviews about a place of business. I read countless reviews of several local repair shops, and with the exception of 1, whose name will remain secret, were for the most part all positive. I said to myself, one of these companies had to have upset someone; no 1 company pleases everyone. Well, I did find a review of 1st Choice Auto Service that was not 100% positive, which in its self did not surprise, nor bother me. It was the response to the reviewer by 1st Choice that impressed me, and helped make my choice of where to take my car.The owner of 1st Choice responded to an unhappy customer by explaining his business philosophy. They acknowledged that they would not make a living off of 1 repair, but rather by having satisfied customers return for additional services when the need arose. It was their desire to provide excellent service on ever repair, and if you were not satisfied, they would make it right . Well, that is precisely my business philosophy, as well. After reading this review, I knew 1st Choice Auto was my first choice.My car needed brakes. I stopped by to talk to John, one of the owners, and asked him what the worst case scenario would be on my brakes, even though I realized that without inspection, it would be tough to do. But, John gave me his estimate, which was one I could live with; so I made an appointment for the following day, which was a Saturday.I dropped my car off and was told they d be done by 10:30-11:00 that morning. After leaving for a while, I returned to the shop about 10:45, and noticed that my car was being lowered from its perched rack. I said, WOW!! It s done on time. I then went inside to pick it up and, of course, was expecting it to be the worst case scenario . But, I was in for a pleasant surprise.John informed me not only was it my rear brakes, not the front as I had thought, but it was not the worst case scenario ; in fact, it wasn t that bad at all. Despite the sound of metal on metal, there was no damage done. My brakes were fixed and my oil changed with synthetic oil, all at about half of what the worst case scenario was to cost.1st Choice Auto could have taken advantage of me because I was prepared to pay the much higher repair bill. But, their honesty and integrity prevented them from doing so. And, after driving the car for a week, my brakes work great, and it sure is nice driving down the road without announcing I m coming with the sound of metal on metal screeching.No matter what repair I need, I am now confident that I have found a mechanic that I can trust and rely on to always give me the real scoop ; no longer do I need to worry about getting ripped off. If you yourself are looking for an honest and reputable auto mechanic, look no further; 1st Choice Auto Service should be your first choice.
