I have had both of our vehicles in Newport, OR Aamco several times. And I can say without hesitation, I love the service and the communication I have had with them. They always are upfront with expected costs and an accurate timeframe of getting your vehicle back. I have found them to be very pleasant, professional, communicative, and honest in all of my dealings with them. I continually tell other people about them when I hear of car repair needs, especially, but not limited to, transmissions.

This was a wonderful day. I was awoken by my husband to go to the local office of AAMCO for an oil change for my 2014 Nissan. What an extraordinary experience that was. We will return very soon and keep returning here for all of our auto needs. They even do warranty work on most vehicles. We will go nowhere else.

We are a non-emergency medical transportation fleet, so getting our vehicles fixed quickly and done right the first time is critical to serving those in need in our community. AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care was fast, friendly, and took great care of our van. Our vehicles run hard miles in all conditions and need this level of care! We WILL be back!Service: Transmission

Rick is amazing and will go above beyond for you. My transmission went out it was under warranty the warranty company tried to have him put in a used transmission which normally would not be a problem accept I have a nissian rouge and the common issue is the transmission and a used one would just do the same thing he flat told them no and his reasoning why and made sure I got a new transmission everything worked out great. He also noticed some lights in the dash didn't go off found the issue ( a small issue) and offered to order the part and put it on at no costjust the cost of the part. He also stayed open 20 minutes late so I could catch the bus to Newport from Lincoln City and get my car as soon as it was done. Rick is a good solid guy I would recommend him to anyone.

GREAT SERVICE! Im from out of state, My radiator was leaking, I stopped in to Aamco to see if they could repair it. I spoke to Brian, he stated that they were slammed and were looking at days before they could get me in, but he took a quick look at it and told me he wouldnt drive it with the way it was leaking and told me he would figure something out to get my truck in the shop the following day since im from out of state. They looked at it the following day and replaced the radiator that same day Brian worked with my warrenty company to get everything handled. He made everything as easy as it could possibly be for me. Im very Thankful for the incredible service they provided. They went above and beyond my expectations. Thanks Guys! :)Service: Engine repair

I am from out of the area and am planning to relocate here soon. I drove across the country from Florida in a high mileage 2003 Yukon. About half way here, a noise started to come from under the car - a high pitched whine that occurred in Park and increased with engine speed. A couple of other shops diagnosed it and nobody could figure out where the noise was coming from. I discovered there was an actual transmission shop nearby - AAMCO Newport and called them. They didn't put me off for more than a week like the other shops did - they diagnosed it that very day. They ordered a bearing set for the transmission, and installed it without delay. This was good, because I was planning to drive back to Florida within a few days. They test drove it and then parked it in their lot. But, the brake pedal went to the floor. The salt environment had corroded a brake line. They ordered a brake line kit and replaced all my old lines, which were all corroded and on the verge of failure (one had failed previously but that shop only replaced the bad line.) I could have been on the interstate when the brake failure occurred. I was so pleased that they recommended changing all the lines. Now I'm driving back to Florida with confidence. The car has given me good service and so has AAMCO Newport. When I'm settled here permanently, I plan to bring AAMCO all my service needs. I have the deepest belief that they are both skilled and honest, two qualities you don't find in every auto repair shop. Their manager Rick truly has your best interests in mind with all that he does. I'm glad I found AAMCO Newport. I feel that I don't need to look any further for my auto repair needs and will be a regular customer. Thank you AAMCO Newport for making things easy for me. I appreciate it.Services: Transmission, Brakes

I am from Tucson visiting with family here in Oregon. While traveling my car started sounding a little odd. My son said he thought it might be the transmission, his friend recommend AAMCO Transmission. As a single grandma it s hard to trust repair shops but the manager Rick really put me at ease. He was very professional, knowledgeable and had great customer service and my car drives wonderfully.Service: Transmission

My transmission went out on my mini van. Had it towed to this shop met the manager Rick. He was very professional. And seem to have a lot of knowledge about my van and the problems they have. This is the second transmission for this van. Now that it's been Rebuilt again for the 2nd time by people that knew what they were doing it's never ran better I'm very pleased with their service I think it runs better than the day I bought it brand new thank you Rick and your teamServices: Transmission, Brakes

My husband and I felt very grateful for Rick and the service at Aamco this past weekend. We're from out of town and our car had stopped working in a grocery store parking lot 1 mile down the road. Rick was able to diagnose it and fix the parts and get us back on the road home within the hour and a half. It didn't look like they were having a slow day either for the amount of cars that were there. Thank you for your hard work and speediness! Also, I was impressed by how clean they keep their bathroom! You don't get that often! :)

GREAT SERVICE.The coolant had leaked out. The engine overheated and the gasket blew and cracked the head. Brian and Rick found a replacement in Salem and installed it. Front brakes needed calipers and pads and oil needed changing. No one likes repair bills but these folks provided excellent service going the extra mile to find the replacement part and advising me on issues needing attention.Services: Engine repair, Brakes, Oil change

When I left the shop, I was pleased. However, about a week later, I noticed Trans Fluid on my carport. Got under the truck and noticed the drain plug was not tightened and leaking. So loose you could hand-tighten. So I had to add more fluid. Had to estimate how much because Toyota uses the sealed transmission. Please ask mechanics to pay attention to detail.Service: Transmission

Rick efficiently and effectively checked the transmission on my Ford Fiesta, and informed me that it was possible that this transmission was still under an extended warranty. (Of which I was completely unaware!) He was correct! And I have an appointment w/Ford for next week. Thanks Rick for sharing your expertise and for your courtesy and consideration. A wonderful experience!

Been having my rigs serviced here for 20 years. Have always enjoyed very good work & the friendly attitude of the folks here. They do a lot more than transmissions. One thing about ammco is that work done here is covered by ammco shops anywhere. That does not happen for work done at your local One shop owner scenario.

We have taken our Dodge to AAMCO the few times anything has went wrong with it. They do great work, Priced fair. They are a great group of people at the Newport AAMCO! We greatly appreciate how quickly they are able to service our vehicle, whether it be minor up keep/ maintenance or a larger repair!

I take my car here for its oil changes and random "check engine" lights, and the mechanics and owner have always gone that extra bit. Today though I dropped in right at opening because a panel had lost a screw under my front end and was dragging. Just a plastic cover, but I don't want to drive through town and over the bridge with it scraping along! These peeps got me straight in and got me bolted back into place in no time. Got to work safe and sound and quick as anything thanks to them!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Body & Trim, Oil change

AAMCO took about a month to replace a slave cylinder and clutch assembly in my 08 Jeep Patriot in the summer of 2019. Slightly over a year later, my transfer case blew up. Apparently, the mechanics there put it back in after serving my Jeep without fluid. My car hasn t leaked fluid and this isn t something that could ve run out of fluid in 1.5 years. When another mechanic approached them about their error, they were told by the Newport AAMCO to kick rocks. Newport AAMCO still owes me $1300 for my transfer case. Do not use this business.Service: Engine repair

They charged us over $1800 to fix our transmission, and when we got our car back it was still doing the same thing and problem remained. We took it in and they added some sort of fluid to it and told us to put some miles on it and if lights came on, bring it back in. We brought it back in recently when the lights came on and off again and they tested the code. Said it was a different part of the transmission maybe, but no solid answer and said the transmission was many parts and it s probably another one going out. My question is, if the car wasn t fixed when we picked it up and for the whole year they have been shrugging us off and blaming the clutch, other part of transmission, etc. WHY Would you charge us if it clearly was not fixed? And then put us off for a year and then say it s our transmission again. It just does not add up and we are out the money and our car. We just want them to make it right, but have been treated really rudely and getting the run around. Currently in contact w BBB.

We were on vacation in Newport for a week - arriving on Saturday. On Monday our truck was making a noise my husband was not comfortable with - as we had just had it serviced in Canada before our journey I wasn't concerned. He went to Ford in Newport so they could do a ride along - they informed us that it was our transmission - they wouldn't be able to help us but recommended AAMCO.They were closed for the day so we returned on Wednesday - Rick was AWESOME! PJ went for a ride and informed us it was not our transmission but the rear crank (sounds expensive is what I thought) Rick took on the job even though his shop was full - we ended up getting it back a couple of days later just in time to head back to BC. They were professional and honest and very compassionate. I would recommend this team to anyone! On our next visit we will stop in to say hi.

Rick is the most trustworthy guy I've worked with. I've taken multiple vehicles in and he has checked them out and told me that work wasn't needed when other businesses said work was needed. great place and great guys.

In August My Toyota pickup started making pretty unfriendly grinding sounds from the rear end. I took it to shwab as well as another auto mechanic in town, who couldn't get me in for a week. I was two days away from needing to drive to Arizona for school and had no solution on how I was going to get there. The guys at AAMCO were very kind to me, displayed a lot of patience in handling my stressed phone calls to check on progress, and most importantly, were able to get me in right away and did the job correctly. I drove the truck out of their garage, hooked up a trailer and drove all the way to flagstaff AZ. No noises, no problems. These guys are THE ONES when your in a pinch.

My '02 Tahoe had a broken sunshell (no reverse). The estimate and actual invoice were very close. The transmission, torque converter and a shaft seal on my half shaft were either repaired or replaced. The work was done on time. The staff were outstanding to work with. I would higher recommend this location to anyone in need of automotive repairs. This is a quality establishment.

Posting for my father Ed Dyess . My father has lived up river of Newport for all my life. His Truck is his sole Way of making a living A lifelong logger and firewood salesman. Hoping to have great small town customer service experience, witch got none of. Rick Herbert the so called Manager talked down to my elderly dad treated him with disrespect. treated my father like he was a lesser man and was not up to the intelligence level of Rick. I would highly not recommend Aamco of Newport Oregon ever to any of my family members or any of my friends or for that fact any of my enemies. The blatant disrespect from Rick was unacceptable and should not be tolerated from a business especially since he is the manager of the shopService: Transmission

We are currently visiting Newport from NorCal and while towing our travel trailer to the RV park in Lincoln City, the transmission on our truck started slipping. I called Aamco, in Newport, and had it immediately diagnosed. The kind, knowledgeable manager, Rick, told us the transmission was in great shape and the problem was a small computer that messages the transmission to downshift. He said we could drive our Suburban until we got back home and then get it fixed. We are about to head toward home knowing we won t have to miss any of our vacation! Thanks Rick!

Changing my review from 5 to negative 5 now since having taken my 1999 Dodge Ram in because the Transfer Case was broken. Took it to them 5 times and had 5 different things fixed because they never fixed the original problem. Over 4000 dollars later. Then I had to take it to a different place and get a Tune Up and Oxygen Sensors and Catalytic Converter put on. That was another 1500 dollars.

They were very professional. My transmission was OK but I needed to have headlight bulbs installed. They ordered the parts and charged very reasonably. Yes I would recommend them!
