I desperately needed a local mechanic for my son's GMC truck. Nothing he did kept it running, and I was at the end of my mechanical knowledge.. I am SO glad Al's shop was recommended. He is VERY attuned to problem solving, not just quick patch-up work. He listened to my description of the problem, and THEN listened to the vehicle. Turned out the problem was ridiculously minor, but without his expertise,we EVENTUALLY might have found it, but wouldn't have known the other things the truck needed done--or had him to fix them. I HIGHLY recommend Al for his honesty, integrity and mechanical skill--and his fair pricing.

We found Ankeny Hill Auto from a friend. They told us that the owner was very friendly and paid attention to your problems. We decided to try Al (the owner) and was very pleased with the work he did. We have since used Ankeny Hill Auto several times. The workmanship and prices remind me of how I was treated back in the 60's. I would highly recommend this company

Took my car in to have it looked at, thought it was going to be an in and out kind of thing but I spent a good amount of time there. He was up and under my hood LOOKING at things and taking them apart to make sure what was the cause of my issues. Not just hooking up the scanner and calling it good. Explained things to me in his mechanical terms then in a term that made it easier for me to understand. Figured out what was the issue & is a few hundred less than what I thought it was going to be. Waiting for my part to come in and I will be back there to get it done (& will continue to go back with any other issues I come upon in the future) I Highly recommend Al!

Super guy. Helped me diagnose a problem on my 1990 Honda Civic over the phone. He was right on the money. Knowledgeable, patient, and extremely helpful. Would give more than five stars if I could.

Al really helped me out of a jam. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me as he was doing it. He worked fast and had me back on the road the same day. I would definitely recommend this shop!

My car broke down just at the bottom of the exit of his automotive shop. Al had already left to go home and came back with multiple quarts of oil to save the day. Seriously a life savior!! Thank you!! (Go beavs)

The owner and operator is the best and most reliable mechanic I have ever been to, didn't overcharge me for things I didn't need, and got it done before he said it would be. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
