Melissa and her crew are truly great people. I broke down in her area, I m from LosAngeles. I brought the car in at 8:30am, she had me on the road, and headed back to LA by 12pm. She was also willing to drive me to an eatery, but I like walking. Collins, her employee, did pick me up from the place I went to wait. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for taking care of me! Beautiful people at DelCarpine Automotive Repair!

Starting in 2005, our family, (three generations of us now), has been going to DelCarpine for our auto service needs. The reasons are simple. First, we have complete confidence in their workmanship as evidenced by multiple cars humming along smoothly well past prime. Each service check is thorough right down to that rear license plate light I would never know was out. They clearly communicate options when options are needed, as well as provide reliable timelines. And on that exceptionally rare day when a fix didn't fix it, they find a way to make it right. You often learn more about a business by how they handle missteps. They re super nice people and are active in the community. Not sure what else is needed from an auto shop, or any local business for that matter. Highly recommended.

I ve been here three times with two different automobiles-both VW s. What s odd is several people in town like this place. My experience has been very much the opposite. Office did not contacted us and made repairs over and beyond approval.Twice has made repairs, but left portions undone, requiring us to return, one time I had to reassemble connections myself.Trust is a huge factor for deciding on a mechanic. service is inconsistent, unreliable, and when brought to the attention of the owner, never felt they had any concern for the customer, but rather come-off defensive and crabby. When small things are left undone that I can locate, it only stands to reason that larger things will be left undone, or with poor quality that I cannot see.

I love the staffs and the owners. I trust them 1000 %. They are incredible people when you get to know them individually. They meticulously diagnose your car and let you know what needs to be done. If it does not solve the problems, they will stay on it until it is repaired or will let you know if it is beyond repair. I have known them since the late 90 s and still go to them.

I will start this review off by saying WOW what an amazing place. My wife and I took a road trip from Seattle to Oregon, no destination in particular just driving! We where on our way from a small town called Parkdale to Hood River and our van had problems. We could not drive anymore so I called DelCarpine Automotive up, Tony answered I told him what was going on, he said they are really busy but if I can get towed to the shop they will take a look at it. When we get there the owner Melissa let us know the mechanics are on lunch so she offered to drop us off at the water so we can walk around and eat. The parts we needed where going to take 3 days to get there they made sure we had a place to stay! Where else would you find service and generosity like that? Nowhere! We where treated like important people and it was very much appreciated!Melissa, Anthony and the hole crew at DelCarpine Automotive went above and beyond to get us back on the road and made sure we had a good time while we waited for our vehicle to be fixed!!! I highly recommend you give them a call. We are very happy with the price they charged and the work they did

I m so glad I found an auto repair I can trust. I took my VW in when it was having electrical problems and they spent two hours doing diagnostics for FREE. I then bought a Subaru and needed new brakes which they replaced at the lowest cost compared to anyone in town. I highly recommend taking your car here, I won t go anywhere else.

If you meet a better parts & service Manager please let me know. Melissa's crew replaced stuff on an Xterra, full of Nissan defects that scared other shops, including Nissan's, into decline. She proved to me it was time to sell our 02 Ford to maximize profit rather than tear the engine apart for deep cleaning. Quick & efficient, DelCarpine consistently assists motorists like every shop should but no one else does.

I met Melissa while my daughter was looking for a new, used car a while back. We took a car in for a pre-purchase inspection. We were given a thorough list of everything that needed to be done to the car in order for it to be safe for her and my grandchildren. The atmosphere was great, professional while keeping things real and the communication was direct. All of which, were appreciated and proved to benefit my daughter double-fold when dealing with the person selling the car. We began taking both of our cars to DelCarpine since. Recently, Melissa and team have been true champions for me on my journey to purchase the last vehicle I will ever buy. When I had questions about specific makes/models, engines, transmissions..., she made herself available to help me understand the workings of each beast. I learned quite a bit from her. No one can say they do not have great communication skills! During my little journey searching for a car, I purchased a vehicle from a dealership. However, only after a couple of hours of trying, and then finally getting them to put in writing that they would give me 24 hours to return the car for any reason I wanted and get my full cash refunded to me rather than stuck in a "credit" situation. Melisa understood the time crunch and that I couldn't take it off the lot unless I purchased it. She fit me in the next morning, and I am grateful for that! The car was in very bad shape, it should have been parted out. There were leaks at most of the connections that had gaskets, there were missing bolts, I could legitimately go on about everything wrong, and I have photos to prove it. Melissa and team saved me my Life Savings and I was able to get the car back in time to receive my full cash return!! Thanks to you all at DelCarpine, I am now in my sweet little old lady car that has very few miles, a great "Best" warranty and driving a safe vehicle with comfort. Thank you for being there for me! In one of the reviews I read something about this shop being unethical. To that, I say "Harumph!" DelCarpine is honest with (me and my 2 adult children), They communicate effectively. They let us know when we are better off taking an issue to the dealer. They have yet to show us anything but professionalism, honesty, demonstrate quality workmanship and keep us fully informed at any time we have dealt with them. I'd give ten stars, but there are only five available!

We were on a 3 week road trip through the Pacific Northwest and our rig lost power steering near Hood River. Broke down and far from home we found Delcarpine and they totally took care of us. Their schedule was full, but they fit us in and made us feel at home. They replaced an incorrect hose clamp, filled the power steering fluid back up , test drove the vehicle and cleaned up the fluid mess. We were incredibly grateful to be getting back to our adventure and not broken down on the road in our RV van. Delcarpine did all of this at no charge which is really cool, generous and mind blowing!Thank you so much Delcarpine ! Best customer service I have ever experienced in automotive repair! You saved us !

We were visiting the area during a road trip to the Columbia Gorge, and had an issue with our car, tried two auto repair shops and they were too busy to help us out. The second shop mentioned that DeLCarpine automotive repair probably could take our car. Headed to towards DeLCarpine and indeed they were very welcoming and efficient, Melissa and her staff brought my car inside the shop where they already had several cars in service, Juan did an amazing job fixing the splash plate, and we were on the road in few minutes again. The shop is very organized the waiting area is very comfortable. I recommend this auto repair for any mechanical issue you may have with your vehicle. We had a great experience with DelCarpine Automotive and highly recommend this repair center. We were visiting Hood River from out of town for the day when our Volvo started acting up. We did a quick online look up and decided to call DelCarpine. Even though it was very close to their closing time, they offered to stay late to diagnose the problem. We figured we'd be hunting for a motel that night and facing a big repair bill but instead, Melissa's crew quickly determined the problem (vacuum leak) and said it was such a quick fix that they wouldn't let us pay them. Very classy and customer-service focused -- even toward out-of-towners like us. THANK YOU!Service: General repairs & maintenance

If you have 3 weeks to be without transportation for a one day repair, this place is for you. Especially if you want to pay more than the quoted price and have the knuckle draggers damage other parts creating more problems. Check em out!In response to the shop response...you have had every opportunity to facilitate expedition of ordering parts yet choose not to. Coming from a small town, customer service means when you break something, you fix it fast. Even if it costs. Should have sent someone to portland to get the part the shop broke. Not sitting on hands and promoting a weeks wait. Absolutely unacceptable. If making correct what has been wronged, there would be a much higher level of responsibility and diligence to fix your mistake.But I get it. "We've always operated this way" is a business model many use.Update.After picking car up it is still not fixed. Now it's going to the dealership to get the work it needs done. Pro Tip for this business: stick to what you know and stop wasting peoples time and money. Ridiculous. Good job guys!

Short version: these people are unethical. Long version: Took in my car for routine oil change. Fair charges for labor and an oil filter but I got charged $180 for 9 quarts of Mobil1 0W40 synthetic oil. Review of my past bills from a mechanic in Portland showed that they used to charge me 1/3 of that. I have called DelCarpine, assuming that $20 a quart was an honest mistake. Instead, they confirmed that the charge and blamed it on the state of the World. They had no satisfactory response when I pointed out that Walmart sells Mobil1 0W40 for $6 a quart (in 5 quart containers). Their offer was to refund me 1 quart as the car actually takes only 8.2. I have told Melissa to keep the money and that this is the first and the last time they will see me. If they are dishonest on oil price that is easy to verify, I have to wonder how much they rip off customers at their mercy with real car problems.Service: Oil change

We had a rear end noise, on our Subaru Forester. Delcarpine got us in the shop right away, did a diagnostic to check out the vehicle, it was the muffler, then arranged for another garage to fix it right away as they do not do exhaust work. From an older XC70 Volvo to a 2016 F-250, DelCarpine has done great work on each of my vehicles. Not only have the repairs been done well, but their pricing was competitive, customer service is top notch, and they've even offered me a ride to and from anywhere in Hood River while I wait for my repairs to be completed. I'll be coming back the next time I need anything done.

Had an issue while traveling in the USA. My Alternator failed and needed replacing. These guys went over and above to help us out. Ordered the part and Fit us in as a priority. They gave us a ride into town to get breakfast and bent over backwards to help us out. They recommended some future work that they saw needed attention, gave some great advice and thoroughly explained how my engine worked. Two days later my starter went and after a call to them, they located a reputable company where we were and provided additional support. I totally recommend these guys... absolute awesomeness. I only wish they were in my neighborhood at home.

We were on a vacation in our small motorhome along the Columbia River when the check engine light went on.A local auto repair facility recommended that we contact DelCarpine in Hood River to service the diesel engine in the RV. We were towed and spent the night parked at their lot which was the beginning of an incredible several days of service from owners Melissa, Anthony and their team.They quickly ran a diagnostic and ordered a new sensor. Unfortunately the wrong sensor was received so we had to spend the weekend in Hood River. Melissa took care of us so well, cancelling expensive existing RV park reservations, sending us to a wonderful cheap county park, advising us on local restaurants and activities over the weekend. On Monday, the sensor was promptly installed, the RV water tank was filled (above & beyond our expectations) and we were sent on our way. Thanks to DelCarpine, we have wonderful memories of our stay in Hood River, OR.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

We where on a road trip with our 3 kids and our wind shield wiper got loose and I called them and a very nice lady I believe she was the owner was very kind and helped my family fix it for no charge. I called other shops and they didn t even ask questions said they couldn t help. I would highly recommend this shop. Melissa and Tony were more than accommodating I ve never experienced service like this at any other automotive shop before. My car broke down at the gas station 4 hours into a 15 hour trip and i had my two toddlers with me at they came to pick us up because the tow company couldn t give us a ride and they made sure we got into a hotel and had us on the road the next day. It was an overall great experience I would highly recommend to anyone no matter how big or small your issue is. Fair pricing, over the top customer service and excellent work! we made it the rest of the way no problem

My daughter was on her way back to Washington for college in her Land Rover LR3, when the car overheated and got stuck on the side of the road. She was a long way from home and in dire straits. Delcarpine really helped get us out of a huge pinch. They moved very quickly to get our 22 year old daughter back home. They car has been running great ever since. They were very honest and didn t overcharge us as it turned out to be something small. They have my greatest gratitude for helping out my stranded daughter. Long story but I ll make it short, took in my Range Rover, they found the issue told me $4,000 is the amount it was going to be I said ok, 3-4 months go by to find out now they can t fix it so they ll need to order a engine from Germany for $19,000. I said I d rather not, when I went to go pick it up they charged $300 I was ok with that, but then they told me that they had half the engine in a box meaning the engine was already half disassemble. When I took in the Range Rover I was able to drive it, it had a knocking sound but it was drivable, now I am getting it back not only not fixed but with half an engine disassembled. Asked them if they can put it back together they said no, that was going to cost them time and money. Towed my vehicle back home, received a phone call asking for my address because they forgot to return all the parts they had already taken off. Now reading the response, they are unprofessional and unethical. If you guys want i can post ALL THE TEXT'S, VM'S, EMAILS AND a AUDIO RECORDING of they day i went in person mentioned. with times and dates on them, so EVERYONE can see and judge themselves.Service: Engine repair

What a wonderful experience I had here! Every single staff member was kind and friendly. I felt they were genuinely nice and honest. Currently we are in the middle of the Pandemic so I know prices are getting jacked up and many businesses are just trying to stay afloat but so too are the customers, times are tough for us all , however, they still charged the quoted amount, another place I was considering said I would probably need this, that and another thing with a potential cost up to $1000.! ( starting out he quoted $250., Which was an attention getting low)...DelCarpine very efficiently repaired my brake an rotors at a reasonable price and quickly giving me a ride home while the work was done. I have found my go-to mechanic

Was traveling through the area, engine died and smoking on my Volvo SUV. Towed to DelCarpine where they quickly diagnosed failed coil, replacing all coils and plugs for $1k in short order. Happy for expediency at the time, but a coil failed a month later (replaced under warranty) and again a year later. Volvo techs noted off-brand parts installed were 13x more likely to fail, hence 2 out of 6 failing in a year. Replaced all again for another $900, but when I reached out to Melissa/Tony, they denied wrongdoing and directed me to their lawyerService: Engine repair

The DelCarpines run a great local business tucked away past the heights of hood river. I had to drop my car off on my way to work and they offered to both take me to work and pick me up if I need it. With their efficient service I both made it to work on time and my car was finished before my shift was up! Saved me over 100$ on a complete front brake job compared to other quotes I got at other shops around town. With thorough inspection they noticed a small leak that's often an indicator for a larger issue and provided another quote for a full timing belt service that was well below expectations. Very satisfied with getting my old 99 Subaru fixed up at their shop.Melissa, Tony, Zach & Jamie all provided top notch service!

We came from out of town with an overheated Volkswagen. It turned out to be a faulty sensor and the professionals here were able to diagnose the problem and rectify the situation in a very short amount of time. With no car rental or Uber in town, Kaitlyn at the front desk shuttled us to and from our hotel room. Outstanding professional service on every level. 5 stars.

This place went above and beyond for us. We we re heading to central Oregon on a fishing trip when the oil pressure gauge said we had no oil pressure. We showed up and they told us they could repair the problem but we would have to leave it overnight. They found us a room and even drove us to it. They called right when the shop was closing and said it is fully repaired. They came back to drive us back to the shop and stayed 1 hour late to get us back on our trip.WOW.
