I honestly can't believe I haven't left David a review - I really thought I had already! Anyway, this review is based on my experience back in the summer of 2021.My wife and I were travelling through Burns in the evening 7/14/21 when the engine cut out outside of town and we had to get towed in. The shops were all super busy that time of year, but David was able to make it out the following morning to take a look and diagnosed the problem as an engine rod failure. Due to that, we didn't end up having him repair it (cost would have exceeded the value of the car, and a repair like that would have taken very long), but I really appreciated the quick diagnosis/quote and empathy for our situation.We ended up selling the car for parts to a third party about two months later and out of the kindness of his heart, David even helped facilitate that to save me the 6 hours drive time from Boise.Can't speak highly enough of this guy and his team - would highly recommend him to anyone travelling through Burns.

5 stars As full timers in our rv it is of the utmost importance that we have expert mechanics take care of our rig. David Calkins Field Repair is an Outstanding Garage! Not only were David, Jay, Chuck and Utah great mechanics on our Roadtrek, they were absolute Gents to let us stay the night in their lot, lent us a truck for the morning and recommended a good breakfast joint. If that wasn't enough... As we were leaving, a gust swerved us off the highway cracking our trailer wheel rim and they came to the rescue on that as well. David and his team are great folks and awesome mechanics! I was passing through and noticed a leak under our dually. The first two places I called were too busy to see us during our short window in town, but one of them passed on David's number to try. On the phone, David knew exactly what I was describing and got us in and out that same day. Super personable and fun guys, and they really know their stuff and don't mind explaining it to customers. David and crew were fantastic. We broke down at Crane store and needed to get to Crystal Crane Hot Springs for a reservation. Got us there then back next day to fix it to get us into town to his shop. Loaned us a vehicle overnight. Fixed us up and he and his family were fantastic. The best!!!

Thanks for the final details Jay. I'll tell ya man that was some impressive work, I think you mentioned that was your first time doing that on a bmw. You handled that with finesse and got me back on the road at a good price, can't thank you guys enough and keeping me positive throughout.

The whole crew went above and beyond the call of duty tonight staying late to fix an axle in our truck tonight. Stayed late on a Friday night and made long distance part runs to get us back in the hills for our remaining days of elk season.
