The mechanic seemed nice at first and more than willing to look at my car and work on it. Once we dropped it off we never heard back from him, he almost never picked up the phone or gave us an update. When I called three weeks into him having the car he said he had barely looked at it past running the codes, which he said there were nine codes popping up, but when we ran it there was only one. I tried calling the next week and all he said was he THINKS it s a blown head gasket but hadn t fully looked at it. I then asked for an estimate and he said he would call back with one which he NEVER did. I had called him nonstop for two weeks, he never picked up. My dad s friend drove past the shop various times to see my car parked blocks down from the shop and constantly being moved around to avoid getting a ticket. Every time my dad went to pick up the car during business hours the shop was closed. Finally my dad left a voicemail for him to which he actually did respond to but the LIED and him that he had told me that he REFUSED to work on it because it would be to much work, which NEVER happened.Avoid this place at all costs, it s a scam and a time suck.

I've been going to Al's for years because he's local but the quality and customer service are lacking No booking management system and he throws out a random date to bring it in for service without taking your name. He has no invoicing and lacks communication skills. Most recently I took my Yukon in for service for one thing and they didn't fix it and said they didn't have time to figure it out despite telling me when to take it in. Months later I returned for the work and they did many things without a quote and without my consent. Often times I do my own work on my vehicles and am very aware he gouged me on the price and blamed me for their error. It doesn't take 3 hours to replace break pads yet that's what he charged. To add injury to insult they didn't even look at the initial repair I came in for in the first place. This guy is rather incompetent in managing a business.

Was traveling from Colorado to take my YXZ to Winchester Bay, had an issue in which resulted finding a part that was discontinued. After reaching out to a few others, Alan Anderson was strongly recommended. My search was over as he had the exact part I was after. Excellent individual, very knowledgeable to other inquiries I had. However, he has earned another life long customer. He's got you covered!Service: Auto engine tuning

The guy tells me to bring my truck in never worked on it. I picked it up. Never got a call back or an apology. And this is my neighbor.

Don't waste your time here. Guy was nasty, rude and wouldn't look at my car until a rack was available. And told me to leave my car there over night. He has several employees standing around including a friend he was talking too who was not a customer. Y'all just sad.

Well, it took 4 days and two phone calls on our part before a diagnostic plan. Then another two days with no call and when we called and left another message were were coming to get the un-fixed truck, dude was dismissive and rushed to get us out of the shop. I had to dig for information about what they did. Al's was awesome 4 years ago with our car. Something has changed and it saddens me because they were great in the past. Please go somewhere else AL wants to get his sandrails working instead of taking care of commitments.

Good service and stand behind there work.Update: I used uncle Al's back in February 2021. I had several things done on a new (used) vehicle. I left with all the work done that was asked for, and a good idea of things that would need to be looked at in the future. So my wife and I started off on our 3200 mile cross country trip in the new car the next day. Everything was going well untill we got in to Topeka KS, some 2300 miles away. We had an issue with a timing belt skipping a few teeth and causing issues. We found a shop in Kansas and they said they could fix the issue. I called al and asked about his warranty on workmanship and he was quick to contact the other shop and get them working on it.My wife and I were back on are way by the end of the day and got home 2 days later. I then contacted AL about the bill and he was very polite over the phone and asked me to send him copies of the bill and he would get a check out to me. I was very happy to work with such a stand up individual. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for honest, quality service. The team at Uncle Al's automotive are absolutely fabulous. I've had several vehicles worked on, from tune ups, oil changes, clutch replacements, and new transmissions. I could go on. Al & team have always been, professional, respectful, honest & affordable. Being a female sometimes people take advantage. That's definitely not the case here. I trust that they will take care of whatever concerns or questions I have. I'm extremely transparent and direct and it's so refreshing when I know that I will get the same in return. I definitely highly recommend this shop.Thank you

I have used Uncle Al's a couple of times. He always provides the best service I have found! He is fast, let's you know whats wrong with your vehicle without charging you a million bucks and once the work is finished the bill is always less then I expect. I refer all of my friends to him because he is reliable and will work with you and your budget. He is also not afraid to tell you when something is not worth fixing. Thank you Al's automotive for making it easy to get my car fixed without the usual run around all the other companies give you!

Uncle Al s Automotive performed a thorough and detail-oriented repair of the air conditioning system on my 97 Chevy 1 ton pickup in preparation for an extended trip into the late summer heat of SE Oregon. I was first of all very impressed that Al agreed to take the truck in almost immediately for a diagnosis of the problem. That in itself was so pleasing and exceptional actually, as the other repair shops that I called either never returned my call for repair information or scheduling, or told me that the earliest they could even look at the truck was in September. (This was 2 weeks after my scheduled trip.)So Uncle Al was certainly accommodating and made big points with me straightaway for their willingness to provide almost immediate service. The diagnosis of the A/C problem progressed quickly, and a new compressor was lined up to replace the faulty original unit the very same day the truck was brought to them. After the replacement of the compressor, it was communicated to me in a timely manner that the fan clutch was not moving enough air for the A/C system to blow enough volume ; so the fan clutch had to be replaced as well.In the end, Al and his crew flawlessly diagnosed the problem, repaired the priblem with speed and dispatch, and had the truck ready to go in that very same evening of the day the repair was begun!!So I can heartily and sincerely recommend Uncle Al s as a fully professional AND customer oriented shop, whose services I highly recommend! And Uncle Al really is an uncle, too!Services: A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning

While I was not overly impressed with Al's customer service or how he he clearly steered away from wanting to discuss the costs on the bill, the most irritating part of my interaction was his lack of concern for his customer's vehicle. One of his guys parked my car a block away from the shop and did not lock the vehicle. They parked it at about 3:53 pm and I did not arrive until a few minutes before 5:00 pm (about an hour). When I let him know that it had been left unlocked, he told me that it had "literally" just been parked. I told him that it hadn't literally just been parked because I had walked from that direction and not seen anyone drop it off. He replied to say that it had been parked right after our last phone call (which ended at 3:52 pm). I then repeated to him that it had not been parked literally just now. Instead of simply admitting the mistake, he brushed it off and wouldn't respond to my complaint. That will be the last time they see any of my vehicles.

If you're looking for a someone that can take care of all your automotive needs, this is the place. We bring all of the family cars to Uncle Al's, because I always get honest estimates, clear recommendations and quality work. Uncle Al's greatest quality is straight answers with no extras. Al won't sell you something you don't need, or over charge you for something you do. After more than 20 transactions, I will be back every time I need a service, because I know that I will get the best services at a fair price every time. Go and see Uncle Al- you won't regret it!

Al has helped me out with different clutch issues on my car multiple times. When I order parts from him they ship fast and the used parts I have bought from him have always been high quality. Uncle Al's is great! Didn't even know his shop was there. He took my car and fixed it in a couple hours and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. He's a very knowledgeable mechanic. (doesn't seem a grand enough word for him) Vehicle Repair Guru? Yes, that's what he is. Gonna take our other car to him too. Thanks Al !

Dropped off car in September to be diagnosed. Just had it towed away a few days ago, it was never diagnosed and I'm tire of getting the run around. Luckily for us it was an extra car, but enough is enough. One employee besides himself, severely understaffed.Service: Electrical repairService: Electrical repair

I have always had great experiences at Uncle Al's. My car has been on the road only because of all the great work that has been done at Al's shop. It would not still be running and driving me cross-country otherwise. Al does his best to find me the cheapest parts and options for fixing and improving my car and seems to care that I am in a safe and reliable vehicle. Thanks Al.

He is very helpful and honest mechanic and gives very accurate diagnosis of what is wrong. Finish the job nice and fast but charge very little compared to the dealership. Last week my car broke in Vegas, he offered to pick up my car from there with his own truck. That is really kind. I choose him as my family mechanic and will introduce his shop to my friends.

I took my car to Al in late June. I was hearing a rattling noise and had been told it might be a Cadillac converter. Not only did Al listen patiently on the phone while I asked a million questions but he took my car in and did a diagnostic for free. He was able to determine what was wrong with it and give me a fairly accurate estimate on the cost. Though it took a while to get my vehicle back and we did have some issues at first he was able to get my car back to me and it ran great! After about a month something happened with the transmission again and I broke down on I5 for about six hours. I called Al and explained what had happened. During the duration of the time I was trying to figure out how to get it back to him he called every hour or so to check the status and finally I got the car to a safe location to which afterwards he drove up and met me the next day and towed the car back to his shop. I was over an hour away from him at this point. I won't say that this experience has been without hiccups but at the end of the day Al has come through and I have my car back and it's driving amazingly. He also is having me bring it back in after 500 miles to make sure everything is still running ok just to double check. I appreciate his diligence and his knowledge of manual transmissions as I'm afraid they are becoming obsolete. I would recommend his services to anyone.

Took my semi truck in to have the air conditioning recharged. He found a leak on a hose, showed me where it was leaking. He could have charged me $$$$ but instead he gave me the best deal ever. I travel the United States year round and have never came across a guy that did what he did for me. I WILL be taking my car and pickup to him whenever I'm home and need anything done on them. Also he was the only auto mechanic that would even look at my big truck that same day. In and out in 2 hours and was able to repair my problem myself simply because he let me know what needed to be fixed. This country needs more honest, hard working people like this guy. Thanks again, you saved me more then I care to even think about.

All is my local go to guy for anything automotive. I have had Al's Automotive work until 9:00 PM at night to get my car going, Because I had to take my daughter to to Eugene the next day. When I tell him I just need the car to last for 6 more months, he listens and makes recommendations that meet my goals.I trust his judgement. His prices are fair, He takes the time to train his employees. And his dog Rusty guards the shop all night long.I had him work on my Moms car recently and it was another good experience.I plan to take my Mazda in to have him replace a transmission seal in a couple of weeks.

Unprofessional and awkward/rude. I stopped by asking about transmission work, said were busy but stop by next week and they can do the work. I asked when. Anytime . I was already a bit dubious at this point. Fast forward, I take time off work to come in the next week. They said were busy but can at least take a quick look, and said to leave the car and come back in a couple hours. I m already slightly annoyed at this point- clearly scheduling and being considerate of my time doesn t appear to be a priority at this point. I return a couple hours later, only to find that this guy cant even stop what he s doing to bother chatting - he simply said yeah it needs work . I asked for more info/ his opinion etc and he said rather rudely I ll call you later . Flabbergasted, I said can t you just tell me now while I m here? No I ll call you . I was already sensing that this isn t the mechanic for me and that this was a brush off. He never did call, and I ended up paying a lot more elsewhere, but based on what the other shop had to do, I m guessing the amount of labor was too much for the rough quote he gave me originally. However, rather than state that I can t/ don t want to work on this transmission because it s not my specialty, or say that there a lot more work involved and I d have to charge more (not unreasonable), or some other polite but honest response, it seems like he prefers just giving potential customers the cold shoulder. I went to Canby transmission which was a much better experience.

Al is a true semeritan! We had popped our tire on the side of the road and needed help. It was really late at night and Al saw us in distress and on his own free time stopped and helped us put on our spare. He truly did saved our day and did it out of the kindness in his heart. If I am ever In that part of Oregon again I would definently use him for any car services! Really awesome guy!

Very unsatisfied. I was hoping to get a diagnosis by Day 2. Still no word. I don't have time to wait for a couple of knuckle heads to get around to repairing my vehicle on their time. I visited the shop twice and both times there was no work being done on anybody's vehicles. Just 1 guy kicking rocks. I took my vehicle up the street and got a diagnosis within hours from another shop. Very poor service. Don't go. Also there is a dog locked in a room barking non-stop.

WOW!!! When my roommate told me he has a "honest mechanic" .... I thought right and I have a unicorn for a pet. Well, I now have a unicorn.Al is awesome!!! I took my car in before the heat wave for an A/C check. I knew it was going to have to be replaced. :(He explained everything me to me and offered alternatives. I bit the the bullet and said fix it ... but, when could I have it back. (Mind you I did just drop it off that morning). I explained it was my only mode of transportation..,.. HE STAYED UNTIL 9pm to fix my car and then came and picked me up.Such great service and he is truly and HONEST MECHANIC... my unicorn. :)

My wife and I are very impressed with the level of service we received at Unlce Als. Our vehicle was repaired quickly and efficiently. He exceeded all our expectations. He recommended what needed to be fixed and fixed it with no up charges or unneeded services. Finally found a shop with great integrity.

Frustrated by the high cost of dealer provided services for my GMC Yukon Denali, when it was time to have my front brake pads and rotors replaced I decided to give Uncle Al's a try. Not only did they save me over $200 on the brake job vs. the dealer quote, but they were also helpful in addressing a few other lingering, albeit minor, maintenance items (e.g., a continuously rattling lug nut cap plate on one of the wheels was loose and required a new fastener) for little or no additional charge. Al and his team were courteous, professional and responsive. They were knowledgeable about my vehicle, did exactly what they said they would, completed the work in a timely manner and were significantly more cost effective than the dealership. Overall, a very good first experience.Rod R.West Linn

Al has diagnosed problems with my Honda Civic that even the Honda Dealership hasn't been able to help me with. Service is reliable, honest and affordable. I highly recommend this automotive shop.... I'll never go anywhere else! Thanks Al!

Had to bring the car back 3 times to get the transmission rebuild right. The car eventually broke down on me and I couldn't take it back because Al said "this is the last time I'll fix it" even tho the work was under warranty, so I had to trade the car in for pennies on the dollar at a dealer, On my last trip into the shop it took him over a month to get to my car and even when he did it was not fixed right . He stopped returning my calls and I nearly filed a police report for a stolen car after a months time.
