Mid September of 2017 I had a rear differential replaced by this shop for around 1300 dollars which I thought wasn t to shabby of a deal. On Dec. 24, 2017 the rear differential went out because they failed to replace the old pinion gear that kept the rear diff in place. The pinion gear slid out of place and destroyed the rear diff that they put in. Not only are they not willing to do anything about It because it s been 3 months, but now I have to replace it once again with added parts to ensure it doesn t go out again. Priced at 1700 dollars. Would NOT recommend for any rear differential replacements.

Didn't get any work done on my car, but they were extremely helpful.

Trash. Inept. Disorganized. Jim s name is on the building but he has no idea what is happening. My vehicle has been there for months awaiting repair. They have no problem charging full price on work that has been returned to them to fix countless times. There s no personal accountability when they make mistakes: nothing is their fault. I had them install parts that they broke then blamed the manufacturer. I was charged twice for labor even though they broke the parts. Stay away from this place.

Even though I no longer live in Forest Grove, I still make the trip to Jim's for all of my family's car repair and maintenance needs. Jim and Sal won't fix it if it ain't broken, their prices are fair and the service is always friendly.

I waited for 15 minutes and nobody was at the front! Not only that, but I called twice while in the store and nobody answered. This was concerning especially because all of the customer keys were hanging up unsecured and unmatched. I could have easily stolen multiple keys if I had wished so. Very irresponsible.

I was referred to Jim's by a friend who's gone to him for decades (so that's saying something)! It's not a pretty place, but they know what they are doing and they have fixed my cars at a fair price. They are honest too - if something doesn't need to be replaced, - they will tell you and they won't take advantage of you! No fancy waiting room with big screen TV, but who needs that - it's great place to get your car fixed and be confident they will give you a fair price to fix it.

Dropped my car off to get the AC checked out since it wasn't blowing as cold as it should. Told them when I dropped it off that I believe the issue is the condenser fan or the clutch that engages it. Picked the car up today and was told that it is in fact the condenser fan but they cant fix it because they don't have the part (cant they order it? It's a Honda part not some rare European thing). Then they charged me $55 for fixing nothing and telling me what I already told them when I dropped it off. Feels a bit fishy to get charged that much when they could have just moved the car to a different parking spot and charged me $55. Next time I need work done I'll go somewhere else and get a quote first. I recommend others to do the same.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Called before showing up to check availability of service since it was so close to Christmas. Was not treated like an idiot over the phone. Quoted the higher end of repairs for my issue to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Ended up being a $55 fix in about an hour. The techs were awesome to talk to, and let my daughter and I wait inside out of the rain, no questions asked.

A serious THANK YOU to the owner and staff of Jim's. Had my car break down this afternoon and they had me back up and running pretty darn quick considering that I didn't even have an appointment. Fast and friendly service and a price that didn't even come close to breaking the bank. Kindness that gave peace of mind to an unexpected automotive problem. If you want fair and competent mechanical work done at a reasonable price, this is the place to go!!!!Thanks for getting me back on the road!!!!

Yet again, these guys and this business has saved me. I went in today to find out yet again why is my car leaking oil. I needed to leave town in a family emergency a 6+ hour drive away. I in the last yr have had 2 oil changes in which my car has started leaking oil??Jim's looked at my car and found the problem Valvoline did not tighten the oil plug and It could have blown my engine on this trip. Thank you Jim's I appreciate you!!!

Jim's has worked on a variety of vehicles for me for 20 years. They have helped me work through a rough time with a dealership and an insurance claim issue with another provider recently. They have helped me through a number of difficulties and recommended solutions when I called while traveling. The technical team has been great, friendly, and helpful. My experience is great service at Jim's Automotive.

Brought my car in for fire damage repair. $600 later I have unchecked burnt wires, power loss, backfiring, and a broken oil gauge. Broke down less than a week later. Car is at another shop that's fixing everything Jim's didn't. Shortsighted crew that want cars in and out too fast without doing a thorough job.Service: General repairs & maintenanceService: General repairs & maintenance

I have taken a few vehicles to Jim's Automotive. First, a van that needed a timing belt replacement. They were communicative and helpful about recommending other things that could also be fixed during the process, and weren't pushy about it. The turn around was quick and the price seemed reasonable.I also took an older Prius in because of steering issues. They examined it and said that it needed to be taken to a Toyota service center because the steering was a specialized electric system. They didn't charge for the inspection, which I thought was pretty fair considering they didn't actually do any work.As others have mentioned, it's a bare bones waiting room, but I'd rather have reasonable repair prices that a TV to watch.

Jim's has always been good to us. They are honest, fair prices and Donald things you don't need. Highly recommend!

I wouldn't recommend them.Con's: Mechanic lost bolts and didn't reattach heat shield properly, used poor fitting after market parts, left oily hand prints on white car panel/hood, and the check engine light is still on.Pro's: CheapService: General repairs & maintenance

My experience with this shop has been consistently fantastic work and service... I'm really happy with their efforts fixing my old and usually trusty car when it stopped being such a trusty car. They did a great job following up on some other weird issues that persisted after I thought the original issue had been fixed, so thank you Adam and Sal! Totally above and beyond.

Thanks again Gentleman!Nigel Moss

So, my car is officially toast, but they were very upfront and honest about it and let me know very quickly what the problem was. I appreciated the quick response and professionalism!

Don't really know what they are doing with cars but they make up excuses that are very expensive and they did a tune up on my truck and charged me for two hours of labor which is way more time than it should be because Ford dealership told me it only takes an hour and half if that long on my engine in my truck

I've used Jim's for over the last 15 years and have always found them to be honest, forthcoming with their pricing (which is far below going to a dealership) and they back their work up. Highly recommend them.

Jim is a good honest guy. My dad took his ford exploder in to get the rusted out cooling system fixed. He had several leaks, and after replacing the parts that were leaking, they found that their was an internal leak at the head gaskets which my dad didn't want to pay to fix. So Jim ate the cost of some of the repairs, because he thought replacing the water pump would be the last leak to fix. We've had other good experiences too, and what it comes down to is the quality seems to changes due to different mechanics working for him. He's had good ones and bad one's, but he's always going to be honest.

By far the worst experience with a mechanic shop that I have ever had. They replaced the power steering pump in my vehicle, and cracked my windshield while doing the work. The power steering pump that they replaced failed and went out a week later. I had to fight and argue for them to cover their work and fix the windshield. Then finally a month later, the power steering pump failed AGAIN! I would never recommend having any kind of work done there.

You will never see it all seriously. What mechanic gives up on a written job? Jim has low prices for the most part but he is purely a step up from a chop shop but then again quite possibly worse than.Took my business to another mechanic; this other one was legit. I was in and out and job done in less than an hour. Sadly disappointed by Jim shadiness and lack of respect to return customers whom referred others to his business. Shame. A place like Jim's Automotive does not belong in Forest Grove let alone even Oregon I'd say.Sorry but I call them and I see them, unfortunately Jim's Automotive I could say I question whether anyone in there is actually qualified.

Charged me $179 to replace a $5 hose and my van still mis-fired. When I got home my mechanic tuned up my van with plugs, wires and a fuel filter. Van runs like new again.

I brought my car in at 1 pm on a Friday because the serpentine belt had started to make a weird noise. Jim himself came out, sprayed a bunch of WD-40 on it and said "well if it keeps making that noise bring it back Monday, it'll cost about $100." As I was driving into work on Monday the belt snapped off on HWY 26. I almost blew my engine. Now my repair charge is $600 because when the belt snapped off it messed up the timing.Do yourself a favor and take your car to a legitimate mechanic. This place is a joke. Cost me $500 and a whole day of work. Thanks Jim!

So I had a couple trouble codes on my Ranger for both banks running lean. I told them I knew what was wrong but I don't have the resources to work on it myself. After two hours (apparently $45 too) the mechanic came in and told me I needed to replace my spark plugs and get a complete tune up with an emphasis on the spark plugs. If the spark plugs needed replacing the engine would be running rich not lean. I took the truck to another shop and it took them ten minutes to come back and tell me the previous owner had replaced the PCV hose with the wrong one. Problem solved. Avoid Jim's, not good

My mom took her car in for a tune-up and a broken engine strut. They replaced it but they dropped the nut onto the timing belt and did not pull it out, so when my dad went around a corner the nut moved and broke the timing teeth. The car never ran right again. They took the blame but would not replaced it

I only had a minor things for them to look at and didn't charge me. They let me get a tranny shipped there for small fee. Really nice people.
