We found South Fork RV Park a breath of fresh air. A nice quiet gravel site backed against a river, great views, easy access to highway and town.Downside, (we were told) they don't have water or waste hook-ups, just clean power & Wi-Fi.Water spicket and dump station, including restrooms with showers are available.

Gorgeous site right on the river. Only one pull-through site. Easier to drive through the grounds than it looks. Just electricity available at the site. There is a sewer dump and water fill but is difficult to access with a large rig. The staff were great. We saw lots of turkeys. There is a playground right next to the RV site that my kids loved. Easy drive to the Painted Hills.

Stayed here during the weekend of the Eclipse. Our campsite was right by the river under the shade of the cottonwood tress. Spacious site with solid pine picnic table. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked with toilet paper and hand towels, even during this high volume weekend. Attentive, helpful, and friendly owners/managers. Convenient to all of Dayville's attractions.

What a wonderful little campground! The nice thing about the size is the quietness and lack of competition for the restroom and shower facilities. Speaking of which, were very clean, roomy shower with a nice bench to keep your things dry and plenty of hot water! Very friendly hosts! Highly recommend-right along the River, talk about ambiance!

Great place! Quite, clean bathrooms and showers; friendly father and son establishment. The owner let me do some laundry in his own place. Perfect for bikers!

Lovely, small RV park along a shaded stream. Each site has a hand-built beautiful wood picnic table and electric hook-up. On-site water hookup and restrooms with shower - well maintained and roomy. Owner and son live in the building on site and are incredibly kind and helpful. We were unexpectedly delayed in the area and the good people at South Fork RV Park really made the week a standout. Cheers!

Beautiful spaces right along the South Fork John Day River. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Strong wifi. This park puts you in a great central location to explore the John Day Fossil area and the Strawberry Mountains.

First of all Dennis who runs this RV Park is a class act of a guy!! He's incredibly personable, friendly and above all a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding area! He's not all in your business just really friendly and very helpful. The location of this park in the John Day area of Central Oregon is perfect. The park is VERY clean and VERY well maintained. The restrooms and showers are immaculate!! Spots are big and power is plentiful! No water hook up but he's got a Spring water filling station and dump site at the park!Couldn't have been better!

Lovely place to stay. Restrooms are clean and adorable, right by the water, and the owners are great. The RV spots only have 30amp power but they are very upfront about that so I don t know why some people complained about it. There is fresh water and a sewer dump onsite to fill and dump. We will definitely be back again this year!

Great people, nice and friendly. Very quiet and peaceful place. Plenty of shade. Only downside is that the camp sites are not full hookups, just power. But there is fresh water and a sewer dump on site. Plus they have bathroom/shower facilities that are nice and clean.

Good prices for rv sites. Sites only have 30 Amp service with no water or sewer, but if you're prepared for that, this is a great place. Several sites are right next to the little creek that runs along the rv park. Level sites with plenty of shade and the owners were very nice and accommodating.

Great campground! Very clean and well kempt grounds, really nice and very clean bathrooms. (I cannot overstate how clean the place was.)The owner seemed really nice though I didn t do the booking or talk with him much, personally. The park is dog and kid-friendly. The creek is nice and cold and was great for the kids to play in and was easy to access. (I.e., no stairs to go down, etc.) There was plenty of parking for our crew which was really helpful. There are no water or sewer hookups at each site, but you can do a septic dump on your way out of the park. I think you can also fill your water tank when you enter. (I don t manage the trailer, as you can tell. :)Adjacent to the RV park is a city park for kids with swings, slides, etc. There s also a tennis court with a basketball hoop in it. Just up on the main street there s a little store and coffee shop, though they re closed a couple of days in the middle of the week. Down the road a tiny bit, there s a mercantile with all the basics you might need. There are a couple other little spots in town but those are the ones we most frequented. We went into John Day, Mitchell, and the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center in Kimberly on our day trips. A bit of a drive, but made for nice activities. (FYI, everything in this area of Oregon will be a drive.)General note: Come prepared with sunscreen, hats, a pop-up shade, and lots of mosquito repellent and bug bite cream. It gets pretty hot in Dayville, and thunderstorms rolled through almost every day of our trip.Overall I definitely recommend South Fork RV Park and visiting Dayville and surrounding areas!

We were here for the 2017 eclipse and the place was great. We had a great site (#3) in the shade by the river. Brand new campsite tables. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean. Denis and his son Jason do a great job of keeping everything running smoothly.

Quiet, our site backed right up to the creek. Reasonable rates, clean bathroom and showers. Dennis the owner is a nice guy to talk to and friendly. The town of Dayville is an easy walk end to end with good meals and dessert. We'll stay again if we're wver in the area.

The proprietor (Dennis) is the coolest guy you can imagine. Between him and his son they keep a beautiful, clean, and quiet campground running smoothly. Each site has electrical hookups and a burn pit. Several of the sites are right on the south fork of the John Day river so you get to wake up to the sound of moving water. In 56 years of camping this is the most idilic setting I've had the good fortune of stumbling upon.

We left the Sheep Rock Unit area of the John Day Fossil Beds Monument a little too late. We found ourselves scrambling to find a spot to pitch our tent. Normally, we try to stay in National forests and avoid camping in RV parks like the plague...but alas! This place was different. We got in at darkness and ended up paying a very fair 15$ to pitch a tent in a quiet site right on the river, maybe 10- 15 minutes from the park. Our expectations were exceeded. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a decent spot to camp outside of John Day Fossil Beds.

Nice shade on a hot day. Clean bathrooms, but owner is cutting the lawn with extremley LOUD mower at 5pm when we are all trying to relax after a long day. Unbelievable.

Unpleasant experience...the campground is beautiful and the families that were there were wonderful and we enjoyed all of that but the gentleman that was the owner -wow-was cranky and unpleasant and I was just trying to pay my space rent...it was a conversation I will not repeat.I dont know what set him off. I won't be back!

I loved this park. Dennis is great and makes you feel at home. Will be staying here again next time I'm out playing around in eastern Oregon.
