Extremely nice and very thorough on explaining what might be the problem with my car without seeing it. This seems to happen to me when traveling I end up with a car issue of some sort. Grateful for the gentleman just taking the time to answer a question and make a suggestion on short notice.

My treasured 2000 VW Beetle is running like a top thanks to Darin. He is friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and doesn't talk down to "older" women like me who obviously don't know much about cars. His pricing is fair and reasonable. I walk in feeling stressed, and walk out feeling happy and relieved.

I will not own a car that cannot be serviced by Thompson Import Specialities. Darin Moore, the owner, is an excellent mechanic who always goes out of his way to find the most economical solution for the best outcome for the car. I literally cannot say how good it feels to have my car fixed. I went through 5 different mechanics in town 2 wouldn't even look at it because of the nature of the problem. I knew when I initially talked to Darrin ? that he was reluctant to take on the project. telling me that I was liable to spend more than I wanted to. But after a very thorough discussion, he was able to find and repair the problem. I will recommend that everyone I know to use this service. It is amazing to actually get in my car, turn the key and, now have the confidence that it will take me where I want to go.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Darin is great! After having my Audi serviced at a different "non-dealer" shop in Bend, it's a pleasure to find someone honest, who does good work at reasonable rates reasonable rates...what more can you ask for?

Darin was recommended by a friend to service my late model Tacoma. I've been burned in the past by small shop mechanics, but Darin immediately made me feel comfortable from the the first conversation on the phone. He was honest, told me the services I could postpone or avoid all together. When I called to make the first appointment, I didn't feel rushed; rather Darin took his time to answer all the questions I had. On the day of the appointment, Darin pulled out a sheet of paper with all the notes from the previous weeks conversation over the phone. That's how you run a shop! I dropped off the truck and within a few hours got a call that all the work was complete. Upon pickup, Darin explained everything he did and answered more questions I had for him. He offered suggestions for future maintenance, not at all feeling pushy or dishonest. Very honest guy and local shop.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine tuning

Thompson s Imports was highly recommended from my wife s cousin. Darin looked over our car and performed the service needed and did an excellent job. He was very detailed on what needed to be done and most importantly where I needed not to waste my money. I took my Audi to Mac's Radiator to find a coolant leak. They were booked out a few weeks but highly recommended Darin. Darin quickly found the leak but due to the age of the vehicle he recommended not going any further as the repairs would be far in excess of the value of the car. It is really nice to work with a skilled mechanic who you can trust.

Darin is honest and does the job right. He has worked on my '97 Eurovan camper doing all general maintenance, and installing lift kit, transmission cooler, and shocks. Darin is an honest mechanic. I needed a wheel bearing replaced and he was recommended to me by a friend who has been using his shop for years. He was able to do a next day repair on my Subaru. I dropped it off in the morning at 9AM and it was done by noon. I will be back for more service when needed. Thanks Darin, you rock buddy!

Darin is very professional and has done great work on issues and general/preventative maintenance for my Toyota and is always priced well for the quality work you are getting. Darin has been taking care of my parents car for years. He was introduced to me about 7 month's ago.Darin is very personable , knowledgeable , makes time to fit you in to his schedule and is willing to take the time to explain everything to you about your car. New to the area and needed a little bit of work done on my car. Darin was wonderful over the phone and in person. He got my car in quickly and did the work for a great price and quality! If you need a shop that provides free shuttle services, car washes, and WiFi and croissants in the waiting room, this probably isn't your place. But if you're looking for a stellar import mechanic you can trust, it will be hard to find a better choice than Thompson's. Darin does great work at fair prices and is just a super nice guy. If you have an Audi or VW Darin is the guy to go to!! He is knowledgeable, friendly and explains everything in a way you can understand to make a smart decision. His prices are amazing and he can always get you in within a few days. My Audi S4 will only be serviced by Darin!

Darrin is a very thorough and incredibly experienced mechanic! His excellent customer service and attention to detail are commendable. I will not take my Lexus SUV anywhere else but to Thompson's Import Specialties.

It's great to have a reliable mechanic to keep my 2004 Toyota Camry running and in good shape. I've taken my car here three times so far, and all three times I've gotten quick, reliable, friendly service. I especially appreciate all of the information I get about what should be done, and what ends up being done. It is this kind of customer service that will keep me coming back.

Darin Moore has been my family's mechanic since before I was born. My Dad has always said you would be hard pressed to find a more genuine, honest, and knowledgeable auto technician in the Tri-County area. Darin always makes sure I understand what he is explaining about my vehicle and is sure to speak in terms that even individuals with absolutely no knowledge about cars can understand. Thompson's Imports does not merely throw expensive parts at issues. Darin always thoroughly diagnoses any problem that arises and only installs the parts you need. On top of that, he is extremely organized and keeps track of the maintenance schedule which keeps unnecessary problems from cropping up and in turn saves me and my family money. We have entrusted Darin with every single one of our pre-purchase vehicle inspections and have not been let down once. At the end of the day, there is no other auto technician my family would recommend more. I have a 98' Audi A6, and it was always hard to find places that worked with foreign cars that you can trust. I have been going here for years and have always brought my car here and have never been steered wrong! The owner here does all the work so you know that you can trust that only one person has been working on your car. Which is very rare to find a company where you know that each step is being taken care of by one person which I really like as there is no lack of communication. The work is always done in a timely matter. I would recommend anyone who wants help with their foreign cars to go here as it is always a good experience.

Darin replaced a starter motor on my 2014 Honda CRV on 4/24/19. I have rarely given a 5 star rating to any company unless it is earned through perfect performance. I also agree with ALL other 5 star reviews.Darin began diagnosing the problem during my first call to him. A good sign. I requested an OEM part. His cost estimate was reasonable. Overall, I am not concerned about pricing rather want the service performed according to spec. Done right in other words. He does.Darin began work on my car even though I arrived 45 minutes before the scheduled appointment.The car is back to normal now. Darin is now assigned to maintain and repair my Honda for as long as he is in business. I keep reliable cars a LONG time LOL......BY THE WAY, some time ago I experimented using the local HONDA dealer on a few simple maintenance tasks in one appointment. Long story short I am never to return. Once and done. NOT recommended.Darin diagnoses THEN prescribes repair. He does not operate on the "replacement theory" of automotive repair, meaning he does not willynilly replace parts in an effort to magically find the solution like some other shops do. He THINKS and analyzes THEN suggests a plan.I recommend to anyone owning a car he works on to try him on your next maintenance or repair.

Look no more, you found your Audi/VW mechanic! I have driven over 300,000 miles on three Audi 2.7T engines and Darin has made every one of those miles possible. Darin has more than just the knowledge that it takes to fix a mechanical issue. Darin has the INTUITION that only the rarest of mechanics possess. I have experienced intractable challenges which are inevitable with the complex engines we drive today, and he worked on all of them with the single-focus that only the best technicians in any field have. My daughter bought an A-4 and he correctly diagnosed it without even seeing it! I am a picky, picky car owner who keeps cars running for decades at the best of their shape. I have driven nearly 600,000 miles on three continents, sometime under grueling conditions, and I can say without hesitation that Darin is the best mechanic I have ever encountered, and if I were a race driver, he d be my chief mechanic. He is also honest and straightforward.

I first came in contact with Darin at Thompson s in the late 1980s when he replaced the engine in our VW Rabbit. Since then he has done all the maintenance on our VW camper van and two Subarus. Before we bought our first Subaru I called him and asked if he worked on them. If he didn t, I wasn t going to buy one. I wasn t interested in dating for another mechanic. Trustworthy, skilled, he has always looked out for our best interest. I give him my highest recommendation.

I have a 2002 , high-mileage Jetta TDI. Went in for a routine oil change (my first time going to Thompson's). Walked out with an easy solution to a problem that has plagued my car for two years, AND mileage went from 45 mpg to 51! Wow. Very much appreciate Darin's knowledge and his skilled communication of that knowledge. Happy to have found a good place to take my car for service. If you like to know what is being done to your car and why, this is the place to go!

There's nothing more difficult than being able to place 100% faith in your car repair person. Not the case at Thompson's Import Specialties with longtime owner Darin Moore. He's genuinely honest, extremely efficient and pleasant for good measure. He's one of Bend's gems.
