I took my Jeep here to have the block flushed because of some serious rust build-up. The guys at the shop were cool with the fact that I had already installed all the parts myself and that I just needed them to flush the cooling system with their chemicals and then put the thermostat and hoses back on. They seemed knowledgeable and loved Jeeps (always a plus)! They didn't take a picture of the block after they re-installed the thermostat(like I had asked), that's my only gripe but they are still a great shop!

I recently purchased a cheap used car and needed to know the overall condition of the vehicle. It s an older car so I knew the chances were good that it could need a lot. I appreciate their professionalism and awareness of the age of the car (doesn t need everything new and perfect) and budget I am on. They highlighted the most important concerns and issues, helping me to decide if my purchase was a good one. Looking forward to bringing my other cars here in the future.

Did an excellent job repairing my 50+ year old fuel tank fuel of rust and sand. Also checked my rusty old heater core and confirmed it didn't leak. Very reasonably priced considering what you get. Some parts are priceless because sometimes you can't buy a new one.

Took my truck in for a second opinion regarding my engine. The boys skipped the B.S. and told me exactly what was wrong. They were honest and personable.Went from needing a new engine (15,000$) from the first shops recommendation to needing a new head gasket (5000$). Still pricey but very happy that they accurately diagnosed my vehicle and told it to me as it is!Thanks guys

They might have ripped me off in the past based on my most recent call. I was curious how much it'd be to do my rotors and pads. He quoted me 1200 dollars. Omfg. I bought the parts for 207 on Amazon and having them installed for 300. So that saved me 700 dollars by avoiding this place. This place used to be my go to. NOT ANYMORE

Had a wonderful experience at Mac's automotive and radiator repair! I had an issue with my coolant leaking I brought in the part to fix it. They fixed it and generously included all in the cost of the diagnostic. I didn't feel like they were overcharging me or trying to sell me anything extra. Will come back again!

I searched long and hard for a mechanic that knows how to fix something without an OBD2 scanner telling them what to do. Skilled craftsmen, quality service, great communication. What a pleasant surprise to find this shop!

Jim was super helpful with getting me set up. There was an issue on the Groupon side with my voucher and he took the time to work through it with me so that I could use it. Mac s exceeded my expectations and gave me the best mechanical and customer service of any shop I ve been to. I brought in my 64 Ford Falcon for some cooling issues and they pulled a past hot rod mechanic out of retirement to make sure everything was addressed. They communicated daily via phone or e-mail. Their work was excellent with fair prices. They stayed within my budget and I never worried about the safety of my car. I will talk up this shop to anyone who will listen!

I am incredibly pleased with the work these guys did on my car. I turned on my AC for the first time since last summer and found that it wasn't working anymore. After doing some troubleshooting, I found that the problem was beyond my repair abilities and decided to take my car in for a diagnosis. They found a big leak on one of my AC lines, and what really impressed me was that they let me go around back to look at the issue myself. The pricing for the repair and recharge was a little high for my budget (~$450 in total, including the initial diagnosis), but I went forward with it. Their transparency and evident skill made me confident that they would get the job done right and with integrity. As a bonus, they quickly found the cause of a persistent oil leak that I have since repaired myself. My car has been blowing cold air like new for almost a week now. If I am in need of repairs in the future, this will be the first shop I call.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto A/C recharge, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning

Jim at Macs was amazing! My family has been going here for years. I had never needed anything done until a very unfortunate incident happened with daughters car. Jim was willing to work with the other company who cause the damage to get payment. He was extremely transparent in his explanation of all repairs. Not to mention all the little extras he did to my daughters car. For example fixing the single light and tightening the license plate for her. Stuff like this shows he cares. Now I understand why my entire family trusts Macs!!!

First-time customer -- I came in for a Groupon oil change + serpentine belt replacement that was determined to be needed during the visit. Great customer service. Friendly and personable. Some customers casually addressed Jim on a first-name basis, which impressed me. I'm from the Seattle area, but this initial positive encounter with Jim and his crew compels me to try scheduling future car appts at his shop to coincide with visits to relatives in the PDX area, whenever possible.

I had an appt. here 8/4 at 8am for an A/C diagnostic. Checked in and was told I needed to drop off my car and they would call me when they found the problem and discuss the repairs.I ended up calling them at 4:18pm to check in on my car since no one had called and they close at 5p. Jim answered, said he thought it was done but no one had brought him the paper work, "Let me call you back after I double check."Jim called me back at 4:31pm. Said they didn't find a leak but did find two bad valves that they replaced, and filled the refrigerant back up and it's ready to go.I was shocked and confirmed they had already done the repairs and it was finished since no one had called, I then asked what the damage was. Jim then told me the repair costs were $850.00. Shocked again, I asked if he was sure, that seemed high. He confirmed and said the refrigerant is what cost me the most at $12.99 per oz for a total of 34 oz. He said head on in it will be ready by the time you get here.I hang up frantic trying to figure out how we were going to cover the expense.I had remember seeing a finance option in there lobby area. I applied, got approved and called Jim back at 4:40pm to get it processed. He said he didn't even remember how to do this, his billing people leave at 4pm and he's trying to get out of there at 5pm. I told him I understood, but he needed to understand no one called and went over this repair with me, or even asked if it was OK to proceed, and I needed to figure out how to pay for this now, and now you're telling me you can't figure this part out. Jim got frustrated with me asking me what my problem was, I was acting as if they did something wrong, I could just leave my car there until Monday when the billing / finance people would be back in, or he could have the refridgerant removed. Then said he couldn't do that because everyone went home. I let him know that was not an option to leave my car there, and you did do something wrong, you made repairs without consent. So remove the refrigerant. Jim told some guy to pull my car back in and remove the refrigerant, and then told me it would take about 30min.My husband and I left and were on out as it would take about that long to get there.Jim called me back at 5:18pm asking how far I was. I told him Brookwood and TV HWY. He got frustrated with me again and said, seriously like another 20 minutes or so? I said about 10 minutes.I had my husband go in to deal with Jim as he was not being very nice to me. He made sure to let my husband know, he just lost $400.00 labor now.My husband apologized but also said that was not our fault.Jim told my husband, that's what they do there, they find the problem and then they fix it. Some people are fine with that while others make them undo their unconsented work. It's to bad aside from the dealership, this place is the only shop I could find that also uses the new R1234YF.

Took my car here for an oil change, they said I needed my brakes done too, and my dad had been here before so we said sure. A day after getting my car back I had my traction and ABS lights coming on- took it in they ran a diagnostic and supposedly a sensor in my ABS system just went out, and of course supposedly unrelated to any work they did. The guy told me if you have to drive it youre probably fine but this should get fixed soon then quoted me $2400 to fix the part, which he adamantly said getting a new part is what I need, i shouldnt take a chance on a used part. I left for work and came back about 2 hours later. The guy tells me he ordered a used part (? After telling me I shouldnt do that) and that I realllllllly shouldnt drive the car and that it makes him nervous (after telling me it was probably fine and just needed to get it fixed soon). Took my car to Les Schwab they said they couldnt fix it but that Mac s more than likely messed this up in my car. Took it to Honda where they tell me that Mac s also installed my brake pads on the wrong side of the clips. Bring it back to Mac s, they tell me the brake pads are installed correctly and they have no idea what the DEALERSHIP is talking about. And as I leave the lot, my check engine light goes on. If I could put 0 stars I would. Dont go here, save yourself a massive headache.

I did chose this place because of a google review. And I want to reaffirm the professionalism this place has. You can see that the manager from this place is a special man. He has the calm, the professionalism and the heart for the customer. I had an appointment for my having my AC filled after a frontal collision and they were so booked that they could not make it the same day. That was not an issue for me; I prefer to have a good job done with the required time than a quick cheap job. I came the next business day and my car was ready by noon. The manager also offered me a discount for the inconvenience. Thank you!

Max breeders did a great job diagnosing my air conditioning on my car or was very satisfied. They're also able to help me with radiator issues with a vintage car I have as well. Thanks

I've been using Mac's as my mechanic since my radiator blew up a few years ago. I am impressed with their thoroughness and integrity. Another shop told me I needed unnecessary repairs. Mac's doesn't do that. On my most recent visit, they found that the alternator they had installed a few months ago had failed. They replaced it with no charge for parts or labor, and they even provided a loaner car! I love these guys. They really know what they're doing. I just wish I had tried them first, instead of the well-known rip-off artists down the street.Services: Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning, Battery, Oil change

Updated review: I was wrong and Macs is actually phenomenal. We got a second opinion at the dealership. They couldnt figure out what was going on and wanted to charge 3K to try to replace some part in the dash. I misunderstood how complex this issue is and Macs was time efficient, truly had done a bunch of extra work for us, and way way more cost effective. They were nice enough to let us bring our car back to them even after I gave them a hard time. Sorry and thank you for being really sweet about the whole thing. The people were very nice and it felt like they were being honest with us. But that doesn't change the fact that we spent 1200$ to fix our Jeep GC AC and still have nothing to show for it. They supposedly didn't charge us for all the hours they spent trying to find the issue. Regardless- for 1200 i should have a car with working AC and I have absolutely zero more than I did 1200$ prior. Maybe we had a bad mechanic, the owner seemed nice. They wanted us to take it back for MORE work (more $$$). Were going to a dealership.

The staff at Mac's performed a miracle last summer by resurrecting a 2004 Hyundai to a 2022 super car. One of the pitfalls of car repair work is the poor communication between the manager and customer. With Mac's it's just the opposite. From the getgo Jim kept me informed about the costs and work time involved to restoring the "health" of my Elantra. The parts warrantee was put to a test a month later and they took care of it immediately.Ever hear the expression 'sweet guys" applied to auto mechanics?Well, with the Mac's crew you can use it.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

Master Tech Bob was great to work with, he stayed in communication and kept us updated on issues with our old Jeep as he progressed diagnosing our cooling system and heat problems. If your car ever breaks down or you're having issues, take it here! I highly recommend this shop. I have been taking my car here for a few years now and they have been very honest and professional. They have diagnosed various issues and fixed them promptly - new alternator, battery, spark plugs, oil change, ect. I was not pressured into getting work done that was not immediately needed and they always got me in asap when I had emergency car issues. One of the few good shops around!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Battery, Oil change

Friendly staff, trustworthy estimates, great service and quality work.My experience so far:I took my truck to a different shop for AC repair, and $1200 later my AC was still not working. I took my truck in after a friend recommended Mac s Automotive insisting that their service is great and my bad experience will not be repeated there. I was very happy to get my truck on the road again and enjoy the cool AC. Two weeks later everything is still working great and I am very happy customer! Thank you guys!
