I Had my VW Vanagon tuned up, and inspected before a long roadtrip. Super thorough review, and I had a detailed explanation of all the work. Price was lower than the estimate as well. I ll be back for sure.

I wouldn't trust my 50 year old bus with anyone else. Dave is helpful, fair and gets things done in as quickly as possible (once we find the part we need). This is one of the last vintage vw mechanics in the area and we couldn't be more please to have them within walking distance of our house.

The wife has a 2006 beetle that doesn't need work often, but when it does, we wanted to take it to someone who really knows VW vehicles inside and out.We have been there twice so far and have been happy both times. The first time was for overdue maintenance and a loose/dragging plate under the car. We had to wait a few days for the appointment but the service was excellent and Dean explained everything that needed to be done and showed us the replaced parts after.The second time was this week. Check engine light had come on and the car was running rough. We called Friday and they offered to let us bring it in Monday. We couldn't make it that day so they let us bring it in Tuesday instead. The trouble was the PCV valve but, with the 2.5L 5 cylinder engine, apparently the PCV kits just don't cut it and you really should replace the whole valve cover, so we ended up having the valve cover replaced. We took it in yesterday and got it back today. The wife said it drove home great.The prices are not cheap but I assume you knew what you were getting into when you bought a VW. Reliable as hell but when you need them repaired, it is going to cost. And I would rather give the money to a mechanic with a small shop than a dealership any day of the week. We will continue going to D&M when the bug needs work and maintenance.

Dave's the best... quality work, manufacturer parts. Fair pricing, and delivers!! And he's really polite and when you meet him, you know he knows cars... was very happy with his work and attention to detail.

Dave is the best! I've been taking my Jetta to him for years, and my parents have done the same with their Passat. I also owned a Honda Civic and Volvo XC60 at one point which he was able to perform maintenance on. Dave is an incredibly honest guy, and his labor is reasonably priced. Don't go to the Herzog-Meier dealership in Beaverton, those people are crooks.

Dave completed the 40k mile service on my diesel VW. He was thorough and patient in his explanations and answering my questions. I also appreciate how proactive he was about offering recommendations on how to properly maintain the car. I will definitely be bringing my ride back to D&M for future service appointments.

I had a problem with my Volkswagen Jetta and found this place online. I called around to a bunch of shops and this place seemed to be the best choice. I called them in the morning and they were able to get me in the same day and I was able to pick up after I got out of work. The communication was easy, super friendly people and the price was very reasonable. They easily could have charged me more and I would have had no idea. Obviously a very reputable place. Gave this call a shop for a check engine light that came up on my fiance's 2019 Atlas. More than helpful, went above and beyond to give me my best options and some personal insights into the vehicle. If you're unsure where to go, I'd take whatever you've got here.

Dave and John are definitely the best VW and Audi shop in town! They do excellent work with quality parts for a fair price! They often go above and beyond to do the work right, and then communicate the price expectation and repair status.I've been a customer here for 15+ years across 3 vehicles.

Dave is honest, straightforward, flexible and fast. Came across his business when searching online for repair shops (didn t want to go to a dealership). As a female who knows nothing about cars, his honesty was refreshing and I never felt pressured. He was also flexible with me dropping my car off after hours to leave overnight for repair the next day.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I discovered this place recently, and now I will never take my '64 bug anywhere else. Dave is thorough and really takes the time to communicate with the customer. His prices are very fair, and he knows his way around these old cars. I live in Texas but my '79 Bug Convertible was with family in Portland. I had her tuned up (deep tuning) and numerous engine auxillaries replaced prior to shipping to Texas. I trusted them to do this right without me there to inspect. D&M knocked it out of the park. Best my Bug has run in years. They earned my business and my trust from over the horizon. Having owned my Bug since '88, I've been through a few repair shops. D&M is the best I've encountered thus far. Outstanding Service. David and his team have serviced my Passat for the past 10 years. Never a complaint. The repair work is explained, confirmed, and the job is completed with precision--since I have never made a return trip for the same repair. I found D&M Automotive after a series of questionable and amateurish service events with a local VW dealership. I have found Dave to be very upfront and honest with the diagnoses and recommended repairs. I have 195K original miles on this car, and still counting, and I owe that longevity to the care and maintenance suggestions from Dave and his team.

Dave is the MAN! Dropped my car off having ALL sorts of issues, in the morning with no appointment. He had me good to go in only an hour, parts in stock, for under $200! Will absolutely be my go-to for Volkswagen issues!

I took my Subaru Legacy GT 2005 to Dave and they did a great job doing these works: replaced clutch, power steering pump, turbo inlet hose, cam sensor. They showed me worn and defective parts - all repairs make perfect sense. The car had issues with engine stalling and rough idling - not anymore!The pricing was fair, compared to the Subaru dealer service estimates.I will definitely come back for my next repair.

Great place! This is my VW guy. Needed brakes, made the appointment, couple of hours later, I got my VW back road ready! Good thing too, spent the next week sight seeing across Northern Oregon.

After reading all the great reviews I brought my classic VW beetle here for repairs. Dave was honest and pleasant to work with, did high quality work at a very fair price using the best quality parts, I d never go anywhere else after coming here and highly recommend this shop.

We have spent a ton of money on my classic VW. Then found Dave at D & M. My beautiful little Bug has never run better! I will never waste my time or money going any place else! Very honest, great workmanship and beyond great to work with!!! Five stars is not enough!!! Thanks Dave!!

The owner Dave is a very honest and was very thorough in diagnosing and explaining the problems of my VW Jetta. He fixed the problems that the Herzog-Meyer VW Dealership couldn t fix after three days. I am very satisfied with his performances and knowledge and character and the prices! I will be going to him from now on for any future repairs. Thanks Dave:-)

I took my aircooled VW to Dave for a pretty large project. He was incredibly informative and helpful during the entire project, even when I ordered some wrong parts. Great shop for Vanagon owners. I have visited this shop 4 times after being very disappointed at other east side Portland shops. The shop owner has been able to identify very difficult to debug items with my vehicle and has provided an assessment that matches the fixes needed. I know my car!

If your looking for Audi and VW repair. This is the location for you!Took my audi a6 quattro to many places before taking it to Dave. They could not diagnose the issue but then i luckily found Dave. He found the issues regarding my vehicle and fixed them. He was very genuine from the start. Very experienced mechanic regardig audis and VWs. Prices for labour and parts were fantastic and beat all other locations I took my vehicle too.He has earned my business and will be the only shop I will be taking my vehicle in the future.

We had what we thought to be an exhaust leak in our 2004 Jetta. Dave found three broken pieces of plastic, all part of the crankcase breather system. He found the problem, corrected it, and the difference is remarkable! Thank you Dave! This was our first experience with D & M Automotive and I will be back.
