Had our car for 8 weeks. Not good about communication. Didn't finish work. Rude desk person in repairs.Read their responses to negative reviews, there's a culture of lying and rude attitude. Do not use this place.

I have waited nearly 3 months to get my truck back and they just beat around the bush and make storys up about what's wrong with your vehicle.. I would recommend having a second opinion before committing to these guys. All I want is my truck back

2013 Dodge Grand Caravan Problem: I took my wife's van into Beaverton Canyon Auto for a loud front end rattling noise. The noise was extreme when idling and after slight acceleration. Also, the noise was more prevalent when the AC was turned on. During normal driving, the noise seemed to disappear and would only come back at a stop light with the engine idling. At Canyon auto, a quick noise diagnosis with the service manager John and he suspected that it may be the ac compressor or idler pulley. Of course, for proper verification the van would need to be brought in for further troubleshooting. We left the van at Canyon auto on Wednesday 7/19/23 morning and on Thursday morning I received a call from John the service manager and he communicated that we had a bad power steering pump. This was surprising to me as the power steering didn't have any abnormal symptoms and seemed to be working fine. He assured me that this was the problem.Friday morning John called informing me that the steering pump had been replaced and the major issue and noise was gone. He stated that there was still a small rattling noise due to a broken bolt on the exhaust flange. When we went to pick up the van, the exact same noise was still there. I was upset and didn't want to pay for the power steering pump. He dropped the charge and said they would replace the ac compressor on Monday 7/24/23 morning. We brought the van home and let it sit for the weekend. Tuesday morning the van was brought in for the ac compressor replacement. This didn't fix the noise, John then told me that the idler pulley and belt tensioner was replaced. The noise was still there, they then replaced the alternator, and the noise was still there. After a week of this frustration and misdiagnoses Canyon auto had the audacity to tell me that this noise was coming from the loose exhaust flange. We ended up paying them $380 for an oil change and alternator that didn't need to be replaced. We took the van to the Beaverton exhaust specialist and gave him the history of the problem. He fixed the flange and replaced the broken bolt for free. He also diagnosed that the rattling noise was coming from the transmission. We then took the van into Beaverton transmission. To cut a long story short, the root cause of the rattle was a broken flex plate in the transmission, an $1800 repair. If Canyon auto are alleged to be a professional auto repair shop and have some respectable reviews, why couldn't they have diagnosed this problem the first day? The exhaust guy diagnosed the root cause issue in 5 minutes using a stethoscope. ***Customer Beware of Canyon auto's sketchy quality of troubleshooting and dishonest business tactics. I say dishonest because they were trying to give us the van back after the alleged initial repair (power steering pump) and wanting to charge us $750 while it still had the exact same rattling noise. There also appears to be no indication of a new power steering pump or ac compressor installation. Were these parts even replaced. Overall it was a very bad experience and I wouldn't wish this on any future customer.

Edgar and Team are absolutely fantastic! Not only were they quick in turnaround time but also very thorough responsive throughout the whole process. Went above and beyond to make sure my car got everything it needed. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great shop.

Took our car in as the ignition was having problems and our ABS light came on. They had good reviews so we felt confident going in. They had our car for over a week during which they changed what they thought was the problem several times. Was finally told it was ready- upon pickup all the break lights still came on. Was charged $1000 for them to replace our ignition $700 of that was labor. They flushed our transmission after was asked them not to, and still charged us.... we left with our car with plans to take it some place else to have the brakes fixed as our overwhelming impression was they didn't know what they were doing.... maybe they don't usually work on Ford's but it would have been nice to know that upfront. I also think it's incredibly unprofessional to do work we asked them not to and still charge us, especially when the car is still not fixed.

We got their flyer in the mail, checked out the reviews and went in for an estimate. We got pretty lucky because they were running a really good brakes special. I was able to easily schedule an appt and they got my car in and out within two hours for front brake pads and rotors. All under $500. AND they told me our car was in great shape. I was shocked because I assume it s like going to the dentist-always more work needed. We had a great experience and would completely trust them to do more work on our car when it s due!

Brought our Toyota in because of the maintenance light, tire sensor, and headlight bulb needed replacement. They misdiagnosed the issue and didn't fix it properly. They said the tire sensor was due to low tire pressure, but when we received the car back, sensor light was still on and when having tire pressured filled elsewhere in the past, this never resolved the issue.Headlight bulb needed to be replaced. High beams worked, but regular headlight did not. They diagnosed that it was a loose connection. The light still didn't work when we got the car back. They returned the car back to us after stating they did an oil change and that both of the other issues should have been addressed. They had us return to get the light bulb for the headlight replaced and still charged us full price.I will never trust them to diagnose or repair anything in the future, and I have my doubts if they even properly replaced the oil.Services: Auto maintenance, Oil change

My Jeep Wrangler 2014 had been thru hell, I previously had a mechanic shop out in SE Portland that did shoddy work at best, and after several returns on repairs that were not done right, I gave up and searched for a new mechanic. That's when I found Canyon Auto Repair in Tigard. I had first contact with Thomas, the repair shop manager, and he made an excellent impression right from the start. He really listened to the issues I had with my Jeep, and scheduled for me to come in to have it thoroughly inspected. As my husband and I suspected, gaskets, oil cooler destroyed, and the entire cooling system filled with oil and coolant, mixed. Due to having 145,000 miles on it and previous bad history with having gaskets, oil cooler, radiator, hoses, thermostats replaced in the past, only to have repeat problems, we agreed it was time for a new engine, and to have all hoses, radiator, water pump, thermostat and other parts replaced. Thomas took the time to shop around for the best re manufactured engine for my Jeep, and after getting a quote, I did call a couple other reputable shops to compare, but Thomas had the best price, beating the others by a couple grand, or better. As soon as the engine arrived, he called me up to come see it, and it was so beautiful, and shiny, brought tears to my eyes! We paid most of the repairs up front, and financed the rest thru Koali, the finance company they use, and Thomas helped me set it up right there and then. Seriously, this was the customer service that I have been looking for for years, such a nice man. Long story shortened, he made sure they got right on it, and had my baby running like a dream about a week later, which is fast considering what a huge job this was, everything was replaced, and up to Jeep/Chrysler specs! He even made sure that the mechanics put the right coolant in. Jeep Wranglers that are 2012 or newer MUST have OAT coolant, other coolants, which are much cheaper, will damage the engine, which was one of the problems that I kept having with prior shops, they wouldn't listen to me, but Thomas new exactly what the Jeep requirements were. Now that's awesome customer service. I am convinced that if I had found this shop years ago, I could have saved myself thousands of dollars, and so many sleepless night worrying about my Jeep. Trust me folks, I don't usually write reviews, but I had to share my story. If you want prompt, fair service from people with integrity, that will treat you like family, like you matter, go here. This is my shop from now on, and ask for Thomas, a good, kind, and honest man, he will take care of you! Margaret Savage.

This is a great, honest auto repair shop. I have taken my 1999 Honda Accord here a few times in the last 3 years and have been impressed each time by the customer service the owner, mechanics, and technicians display. For example, the first time I stopped by the shop, the mechanic noticed my car was low on oil. He added a pint or two and that resolved the issues I had observed. He wouldn't accept payment for diagnostic services or the oil and just suggested I bring it back the next time I need any work done. So you better believe I've been bringing it back ever since, even just for routine oil changes. I've received excellent customer service every time and can trust the repairs and maintenance work advised.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

I've used Canyon for work on my truck on several occasions and they've been great every time. Jim has been incredibly helpful, and I trust him to tell me when work needs to be done and when it doesn't. My truck is also a bit unusual, and not the easiest to work on, so it's great to find a shop that will work on it at a competitive price. The work has always seemed to be done well and they've been awesome about turning it around quickly. All in all a great shop, I'm really glad I've found them.

They spent about 2 months getting my car back to me. It was trashed inside when I got it back. Hood shakes on highway. They say they have a lifetime warranty, but 'miraculously' dont have anything in writing. Refuse to redo repair in spite of 3 other shops telling me it was shoddy work. If you're a woman, expect that youll be taken advantage of! VERY DISAPPOINTED I also notice in other reviews that not once does the owner attempt to make any attempt to "right" the bad review. They simply throw it back on the customer!! Sad this is how sooo many businesses behave.

Jim and his team are sound mechanics who deliver prompt and quality work at a fair price. This is enough for me to keep doing business with him. But on top of that, Jim is focused on giving good financial advice. I'd go so far as to say that he takes a fiduciary role (for car repairs) in that he has discouraged me from doing work that he thinks isn't worthwhile (such as replacing a battery prematurely) or today he recommended that I take a small key problem to a key shop where they would charge less. I personally recommend you take your car to Canyon.Service: Electrical repair

Good people!! very helpful and considerate, I had bad experience with shops in my time but this shop text me and lets me know the status of the work through text. Definitely new to this experience. I came to Portland to spend time with some family for thanksgiving, even though it was the holidays they worked me in there schedule and they got it done. So thanks to the canyon auto repair shop I m able to make it home safe stress free .

I brought both my vehicles in for possible repairs. Jim is one of the most knowledgeable and honest service repair manager's I have dealt with. After the inspection of both cars there were numerous problems, but rather than trying to sell me repairs, he explained that they would run more than the car might be worth in the long run. I wasn't charged for the work they did. I would recommend this shop to anyone and will return there whenever I need service.

Expert, friendly staff. Easy scheduling. Timely, effective work. That's what I found when I came to Canyon Auto Repair in search of better customer service after tiring of the hassle I got at the dealer. With Canyon, I appreciate their responsive communication, knowledgeable and businesslike, professional people who care about me and my vehicle, super quick and easy scheduling, and efficient use of time to turn around my car quickly. I've been happy with all the work done, from small stuff to a bigger job on my brakes and preventative transmission care. Highly recommended!

Great service. Kept me informed on the steps to fix my jeep along the way. Quickly diagnosed the issue and gave me a great price to fix it. After researching the part price how long it would take me to fix the issue I couldn't pass up on them doing the work. They finished 2 days ahead of schedule. Once again I was impressed, and I hate car dealers and service shops. Canyon Auto is the only place I will take my rigs from now on. Plus I have no issues recommending them to everyone I talk to. Once again, thank you Canyon Auto. A+ in my book.

There are too many reasons why I will always take my cars to canyon auto:1. They are honest and are completely transparent. If they think someone can do it for less they will tell me. When I get a new part, they always show me my old one. They tell me all my options.2. Hard working and considerate. This team goes out of their way and are so patient. Ross has taken great care of my cars for years - patient, open, helpful with info. And then there is Jim, who went out of his way to help with our car using his own time to reduce our costs. We couldn t be more grateful.3. Reliable. They do a spectacular job and the mechanics on their team have kept my cars going4. Local - they ve been around for a long time for a reason- and way more community focused

I had a great experience working with Garrett and his team at Canyon Auto Repair. My Toyota 4Runner suddenly broke down while driving on 217 and we had it towed to Canyon Auto Repair. We are new to the area and had never worked with them before, but I am so glad we found them and used them for the repair! The issue was a bit obscure - after the car was towed into the shop, the issue seemed to go away. Garrett and Ross and their team did a lot of diagnostics and research, and came up with what they were pretty confident was the issue and repair needed. The cost was reasonable and they had the car back to me within 2 days. It's been a few weeks and the car is running perfectly. As a woman, I hold my guard up with mechanics but I found Garrett and his team to be very respectful, explained everything thoroughly, and were extra friendly considering we were first time customers. I hope we don't have more car troubles, but if we do, we will be coming back to Canyon Auto! Thank you!

Jim at canyon auto is always pleasant and eager to go the extra mile to explain the options to you. They ve worked on my 2003 Subaru Impreza and have given me quotes on other services. I think their prices are competitive, but also definitely shop around too. I ve had good experiences here and would recommend them overall!

They charged me $1000 to "fix" a rubber gasket and a valve in my truck. The obd codes never cleared so I couldn't get the truck to pass deq.Took it to Firestone, and they removed debris from a sensor and reconnected a hose, which cleared the codes. That cost $100.Don't use canyon auto, they are not competent and charge way too much.

I was not having success at the first place I took my car, and Jim said "bring it over and we will take a look". I will be honest, my car is a tricky wicket, but it is fixed and running fine! Canyon will be my go-to facility from now on, and I have already starting telling my friends! I really appreciate the conscientious shown, and the professionalism Jim exhibited. I don't know the name of the tech that worked on my car, but my hat is off to them! I feel that I can trust Jim and the crew to take care of my car, and all future vehicles I may have. The communication before and after service is great, too! I know what my maintenance needs actually are for my vehicle, so I can take better care of it, now that I know it has its "quirks". Thanks again, Canyon!

I received such honest work from Canyon Auto that it would be a crime to not share my experience. I had been to a different mechanic shop in Beaverton, that charged $120 for a very subpar inspection, and ID ed an issue that had already been resolved (years ago). They wanted to charge me $800 for a water pump replacement that wasn t needed. I shopped around and Canyon Auto was the best quote at 1/2 the cost. Shortly after dropping off my car, they called me confused as to why I thought the work needed to be done. I shared that I had been told this work was urgent due to a leak. They said there wasn t a leak. They proceeded to complete a much more thorough inspection for FREE. In the end I paid very little for needed routine maintenance, and am grateful to find an honest mechanic shop. I couldn t recommend them more highly.

We needed a good, honest, reliable mechanic. We asked some local friends where they go to get their auto maintenance needs taken care of and they told us about Canyon Auto Repair. We made an appointment and found them to be refreshingly honest and helpful. They were honest about the cost of repairing our vehicle and even helped us find some good reliable vehicles to purchase. They fix things right away and for a reasonable price. They are knowledgeable and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. We recommend them to all our friends and to anyone asking where they can find a reliable Auto Repair shop.

Fantastic service beginning with my first interaction. When I called to schedule an inspection on a car I planned to buy, I was greeted with friendly and accommodating service over the phone. When I brought my car in I felt welcome and as though I was a priority. The service offered was helpful and honest - plus a very good deal.If you want to have your vehicle looked at and repaired by real and honest people, this is a great place to go!

Excellent, honest & friendly customer service!!!I was calling around to obtain quotes for the work needed on our vehicle. Not only were we pleasantly surprised with the pricing, we were met with friendly and very honest communication. This is the only place we will be taking our cars from now on. And, I recommended it on different social media outlets. Jim is a delight to work with! Absolutely exceptional! Thank you!!!! Service: Brakes

During the crazy snow storms of early 2017 I discovered that my 4wd wasn't working in my jeep. We recently moved back to Portland so I have no mechanic. I took my jeep to my hometown mechanic and had it looked at....bad transfer case. The cost to fix it was going to be a couple thousand dollars.Because of that I waited to get another opinion. After reading some reviews I called Canyon Auto Repair. They got me in that same week, charged me EXACTLY what they quoted me, which was a few hundred less that my first quote in my home town. They finished my car in two days and were friendly and communicative along the way.Finding a reliable, trustworthy mechanic is very valuable. I'm so happy to have a go-to mechanic. My car is running like new, I'm a happy customer.

Excellent service. I was treated with respect and dignity from the first call before they even knew what problem I had or that I would eventually be a customer. The repair was exactly as we discussed, completed on time. The post-repair report was top notch with clear guidelines to help me move forward with other items discovered if I want to. There was no pressure for last minute add-on services or even pushing for the other repairs.Based on my experiences, I plan to return and will trust them to work on my vehicles again.

My alternator in my Honda went out this morning and Jim was super helpful. I had been stressed out all day trying to find the best quote in the area and Jim was not only able to beat my other quotes, he was helpful and honest about everything else that was or could potentially be a problem with my vehicle. I appreciate good business and honesty and well very satisfied. Will be returning my business here and recommending them as well!

I've been going to Canyon Auto for a few years now and I've always had a great experience. I used to take my 2003 Rav4 there. It was old and needed a lot of love, and they constantly worked with me to keep it going for as long as possible. The folks that work there are very knowledgeable and friendly. I know next-to-nothing about cars, and they always talked me through the work that needed to be done and I've never felt taken advantage of.I recently bought a Prius, and still bring it Canyon Auto. They've handled my oil changes and when an unexpected low tire alert came on, they scanned my car and added air for free. They're really great people and I will continue going there as long as I have a car!
