For 25+ years I have used Encinas Automotive for various auto repairs and for routinely changing the oil in our cars. Mike, the owner, is an honest and forthright man. Mike and his mechanics do not perform bogus repairs, nor do they try to sell you something your car doesn't need. Almost all of Mike's mechanics have been with him for years.Whether you are male or female, young or old, if you do not know automotive terminology, you can trust Mike Encinas and his mechanics to repair only what needs to be fixed on your car. They will explain what needs to be repaired and why. And Mike is always upfront about what a repair will cost. If a repair is beyond the capabilities of Mike's shop, he will tell you that, too.I'm posting this review because my friend's 20-year-old naive son got ripped off recently at a Tulsa gas station garage. The young man left the car for a routine oil change. When he returned to pick up the car, he was charged $1,750 for an unneeded valve job. The young man had approved the "repair" over the phone believing the cost was $17.50, not $1,750.00. Suffice it to say, I gave my friend the last Encinas Automotive business card I had and encouraged him and his son to use Encinas Automotive in the future.

Fantastic folks with an uncommon level of trustworthiness for auto mechanics. They had the opportunity to do unnecessary work because I was convinced by someone else's inspection that I needed brakes replaced. But the brakes turned out to be fine and Encinas refused the chance to make money replacing them when not necessary. They found a fuel injection problem that had also been confused by previous service. They fixed that and barely charged me more than what an lift & inspection costs at one of their competitors. Class act.

We were driving across the country when we heard a grinding every time we hit the brakes. We found them online and they got us in quickly and diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly so we could get back on the road. Highly recommended!

I used Encinas Automotive for the first time today. They quickly identified the problem with my vehicle and completed the repair the same day. I wasn't expecting the work to be done that fast. Encinas gives great service. They get right to the problem. You are told how much you will be charged before the work is done. I have been going to Encinas for ,30 years. They have been consistent and fair. I trust that I will not be over charged when I take my car to be repaired.

Mike is awesome. I came in with a major issue. He quickly identified that my car had no oil and the engine was destroyed. He advocated for me with the extended warranty to demonstrate this was not my fault, until we eventually found out that it was a recall issue with the Hyundai Santa Fe. At that point we transferred it to the dealer. Mike worked very hard, made the process easy, and charged me the minimum for the diag work they had done. I would absolutely take my car here again.

I have used Encinas for over 20 years. Had 1 or 2 minor issues, which is pretty good for 20 years and everything was fixed up. I just don t trust anyone else.

ETA, 8 years later: Even though we moved clear across town, this is still my go-to car repair shop. Their prices are absolutely fair, they are honest to a fault, and they've treated me with nothing but patience and respect. Ten stars. Wonderful local business.Original review:Fast, thorough, honest, and fair. I went to one of the big (pricy) chain mechanics, and they listed a whole host of issues that they said needed immediate repair. Quoted us a price to do it that was more than half the value of the (ten-year-old) car.Didn't quite feel right about it, so I looked for another place. This one was highly-rated and quoted more reasonable prices, so I brought it here instead. They diagnosed the main problem more accurately and told us none of the problems were serious or needed immediate attention, and we'd be better off just taking it back as is, keeping an eye on the oil level, and taking our time deciding whether to do the repairs or just trade it in for a new car.I really appreciate this kind of honesty. As a business model it seems to work, since people leave great reviews that hopefully bring more people in. I'd like to see more of this business model and am very grateful when I stumble across it.

I asked for a brake evaluation, they said front was good, back were bad. They quoted $345, did the work in half a day, and charged me the same. Super easy to get in (I just showed up), and my car is great. I really appreciate their honesty and straightforward service.

I got a puncture on the way to a super important appointment this morning and these guys were ABSOLUTE SUPERSTARS! Fast, professional and really friendly I cannot recommend them enough. I know it wasn't a complicated problem but it certainly was making my day more complicated and I don't think I've ever had such an easy and pleasant experience getting anything sorted with my car before. My car had a major oil leak that I expected would take weeks to repair and cost thousands. Not at Encinas! Car was repaired in two days and the cost was very reasonable. Great work. My minivan sounds like a whole new vehicle. Some reviews say it's a little pricey here, but it really isnt, it's only "not cheap." I've gone to a few local places that were "cheap," and frankly, i got what i paid for. Those cheap places tend to do shoddy work, and once i was even cheated into a much higher price at pickup, but nothing like that at Encinas. Good job; my van has 205k on it and it runs better than it did at 150k. Did i pay more than i might have elsewhere? Maybe a little, but not much more, and the work is significantly better. These good reviews are what sent me, and I'll leave one too.

Every time I've had an issue with my car that I can't fix, these guys always take great care of me. Fast, efficient, knowledgeable. Highly recommend for years in the past, and years to come. Thank you!For anyone with an issue of the price you pay, just remember like anything else. Cheap labor isn't skilled, and skilled labor isn't cheap.

I've been going there for almost 30 years. Can always trust Mike to make sure you get good service. When I 1st started I was a struggling single mom trying to go back to school. He always took it easy on me and gave me a ride back to the house and had someone pick me up when car was ready. I'll be forever grateful.

I have had my vehicles serviced at Encinas for over a decade, now. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They have consistently shot straight with me about my vehicle and even advised me to avoid repairs that weren't really necessary. When they cannot manage something in-house, they offer me a recommendation for someplace they know. Over the years, I have developed great trust in Encinas. This is Tulsa gold.

So these guys are great. For me they aren't the most conveniently located so I've continued to try different places. I always end up back here and now I'm just not going anywhere else even if it is further from me.One car had a horrible leak. They looked at it and said we found the two leaks, here's where they are, this is what it would cost. Then they told me the cost to fix was worth more then my car and while they would do it if I said go ahead, they think I'm wasting my money. So I took the car back and started looking for newer cars. They told me if I had any trouble finding a car give them a call back and give them a price range and they'd help me look. I didn't need them to but it was really nice.This visit, I'd taken my car to the guy that always worked on it before I bought it. Over two visits and $750 in it was still leaking oil so I refused to take it back to him. They looked and were like it's this, it's not cheap, it's your call. Didn't really feel like looking for a new car if they could definitely fix the problem. It's the ONLY issue with this car. So I said do it, it was going to take 2 days. Near time for me to go get it, they called and said we thought it was good, had it running to test it, it's still leaking. We can't let you take it, we didn't fix the problem like we said. Okay yeah that sucks now I've got to figure out rides. But I'm not going to have an ugly oil spot surprise the day after I take my car back. About 45 min later, they call back, said they started tearing it down but didn't have to go all the way to find the problem. Fixed what they found, no leaking, I can come get it. There was no way I could get to them before they closed, but the boss said he would be there a little later, they just wouldn't be 'open' if I thought I could make it, so I did. Got my car back. It's been about a month, no leaks, not even a tiny one. Totally worth the money I paid THEM not the first guy I tried.Not going anywhere else from now on. I highly recommend this place, they're going to do what they say.

Took my car in a few weeks ago. Due to insurance miscommunication it didn t get worked on until last week. Picked it up Friday. It stalled today. Owner will not take responsibility and wants me to get ahold of insurance to file another claim. It was their error or a missed thing and he won t even look at it. Very immature over text messaging. Does not want to deal with issues. Therefore, I am disputing the transaction since he won t fix the car & reporting to better business bureau. I brought my car in to Encinas for a second opinion and told the man at the counter what had already been found about it. He told me that with that information, he could assure me it would need an engine rebuild, and the cost of that would be greater than the value of my car. Honest guy, and saved me the cost of a second diagnostic.

I was supposed to get my brake pads, rotors, and caliper changed here. I paid them $700 to do it and, three months later, found out from a trusted mechanic in my family that they didn t change anything. They saw a woman by herself and took advantage. Don t go here.Service: BrakesService: Brakes

Update: Called this morning and explained the issue. They took it in and had it fixed before noon, at no charge. It's fixed!!! So glad to report I am a happy customer and will by happy to recommend to friends and other family. :)Took my daughters car to have power steering fixed. Less than a week after getting it back, no power steering. Taking it back this week. Will write a new review if they make it right.

The experience that I had with this place was horrible And hurtful. Given the fact that I had been a customer before with no complaints. And was treated fairly and reasonably before.They over charged hundreds of dollars to get my brake system repaired on my Van. And didn't bother actually repairing it correctly at all I come to find out a month or so after repair. In fact it was one of the employees there that over charged me. And the owner said nothing or did nothing knowing that one of his employee's over charged me for little or no repair.The Totally Experience was hurtful.So when I see all these wonderful comments about this car repair shop It makes me feel like I was discriminated against in the worst way.Especially when I gave them no trouble at all because its not in my nature. So for them to handle me in such a fashion made me feel they were racist and took advantage of me because they had my car and I didn't have a choice but to pay them or they would have keep it. A totally set up from the start.Not to mention, every review I just read that had bad service from these guys were either handicapped or a Person of Color. So yes, I would NOT support this business if you are a person of color or disabled. Which is very sad ladies and gentlemen

Took my car for a second opinion after being told that it needed $900 in repairs. Encinas checked my car out thoroughly and found nothing wrong with it and they did not charge me a penny. I have never worked with such an honest and ethical shop and I will absolutely be a customer for life.

Encinas has worked on my cars in past but never did I imagine they would work on Husqvarna riding mower tires. I brought them a tubeless tire standard on most riding mowers and a 15x6x6 tube to place in the front tire of my mower rather than purchase a new tubeless tire for $80 bucks. That said mower tires even with these standard sizes have different profiles that don't always align to the valve stem location. After they tried to insert the tube with no success getting the valve stem to line up properly I asked if slime or fix-a-flat might get me by? Naturally these guys race cars professionally and know their %$#@ and recommended I get a tube of Slime at the auto parts store. Not only did they put in a new valve stem but put the Slime in the tire aired it up and sent me down the road for no charge!! Need I say more. Thanks guys for all you do.Also want to mention before I called Encinas I tried ALL the big tire service companies like Robertson Tire, Firestone Same Day etc and they all said we don't do small tires?
