These guys are lifesavers and miracle workers. I was nearly 500 miles from home when my check engine light started flashing around midnight and my car started shaking uncontrollably when accelerating. I was able to limp it a few miles back to the hotel and called Jim Van Dyke's Automotive Center as soon as they opened. This was a Monday and the guy on the phone said they were incredibly busy due to a larger than usual number of cars being towed to them over the weekend, on top of their already scheduled jobs. With all that said, he put me on a brief hold to see if they could work me in. They told me if I could bring it in (thankfully less than a half mile from the hotel) as soon as possible, they'd get me diagnosed and go from there. They also offered a complimentary service to drive us back to the hotel while we waited, and said they'd pick me back up. By the time we got in the hotel room, they were calling us to let us know they diagnosed the issue and explained it in layman's terms and gave us the price. They let us know that they had sourced all the parts and could get it fixed today. I also requested an oil change since mine was past due for reassurance. An hour later, they were calling to pick us up because the car was already ready. We were on the road back towards home only 2 hours after we made the initial call to them. The car proceeded to drive smoothly for 7 hours and 500 miles, despite not being able to go over 20 mph without death rattling a few hours prior. These guys are truly miracle workers, and they extremely courteous, cost and time efficient, and knowledgeable. They have an amazing team over there, and it is unbelievable that even with a busy hectic Monday ahead of them, they never showed negativity and went above and beyond in our time of need. There's nothing I could say that could come close to doing this establishment justice. Very friendly service personnel. Unfortunately I did not deal with any of the techs but the work was done correctly and timely. The turn around time was very good. My husband started using these guys a year or so ago, and tbh, I was unhappy from the first time they worked on my car. That was right about a year ago and I was unhappy because my car smelled like an ashtray for 3 days after I got it back. Smoking in a customer s car that is obviously a non smoking car just seems trashy to me.Next, the exact same problem we just spent $1500 on last summer, reoccurred this summer. I honestly didn t want to take it back to those guys. Only a year didn t seem like a reasonable time to have to repeat the same expensive repair. But my husband is the car guy so I just take it where he says. Also, my air conditioning wasn t working.Well, they charge a whopping $2200 for the repair and to fix the AC, but the second I start the car, I can plainly tell the same problem was still there (due to a loud obvious noise) and I took it straight back! I think they charged us another $500. Meanwhile, we re being charged $150 for supposed diagnostics but they couldn t just plainly HEAR the loud noise. The fact that they claimed they fixed the problem when they obviously did not makes me doubt they even DO that pricey diagnostic.THEN the very first time I use that AC that cost us $1500 it runs for 30 minutes AND THEN QUITS. I take it back again. THEY CHARGE ANOTHER $700 to fix it AGAIN! Again, what about your pricey diagnostics????Then, the AC works for 30 minutes once again and then quits. I m basically ready to have a stroke at this point. But also, we ve paid so much freaking money for this AC my husband just wants it fixed so I take it back AGAIN. I sit there exuding bad vibes in person, and don t you know, they got it working no charge!But, GUESS WHAT? It quit again and now they re telling us they pinpointed the problem and they ll get it fixed for another $500. Thought y all pinpointed the problem $2200 bucks ago! It s simply unreasonable for these people to put us through the ringer and charge us so much money and not finish this job for us for no more money. We ll go pick n pull the $20 part ourselves and fix it ourselves, and none of our vehicles are coming to you crooks and your fake diagnostics again.*UPDATE* I m only updating this review because the owner (the individual who left the response to this review calling me a liar even though he told the people at the shop to fix my car) is still contacting me a week later. In all honesty, I had intended to remove this review because within 10 minutes of posting the review the shop called and said they were going to fix it for no additional charge. But when the unhinged owner decided to respond so incredibly rudely and unprofessionally, I decided to leave it. However, he s now messaging me on Facebook a week later. I m shaking and my heart is pounding this man is literally crazy. STOP CONTACTING ME

The entire shop is clean, comfortable, and super friendly. My wife and I were stuck and in a huge bind. They helped me arrange towing and somehow figured out how to get my problems solved quickly and get me back to making income. A HUG thanks to everyone at JVD s Automotive!! This business in extraordinary!!! After five attempts to get service, these guys took us in on a holiday weekend. We were treated with respect and dignity. The repairs and service were excellent. Pertinent to 2021 my last service with them. I paid over $1000 for a new radiator with installation, car is not new - when asked about needing a flush they said it was not needed. Red flag when we got the jeep home and you take the cap off of the cooling system and it s caked with mud like gunk which clogged the coolant system, and lead to issues overheating and leaking. Due to nerves and just not wanting to be be problematic I didn t say anything. I have since paid over $5,000 to an actual dealership to correct issues that probably could have been avoided if they flushed it - a job that takes maybe 30 minutes. Will not be going back to have either of our cars worked on here. Do your research people - find someone who won t cut corners and always ask to see a comparison of old and new if possible. I regret not doing that and speaking up.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Always top notch service all the way around. I have lived in Washington Court House for 2.5 years and they have become my car repair headquarters. Any problem, they can take care of it. Got new tires on my XC90 today and driving like the luxury vehicle it is. Thanks so much to Chris, Tye and all the people in the garage for their excellent customer service. Highly recommend

The manager, Chris, was absolutely wonderful. He stayed in contact with me keeping me posted from the beginning of diagnosing my truck then day to day while they were waiting for a part to come in. Then his last call was that it was ready. But he never left me wondering what's going on with it today. And so very polite. The mechanic that fixed it must've known exactly what he was doing. Because I haven't had a bit of trouble with it again.

Friendly people and usually good service. They were very busy so it took 2 hours for an oil change.Well that free oil change never happened and whenI mentioned it one of the staff said don't worry the fifth oil change is free which is your next time. Pure BS, didn't happen. I don't need it for free but if they say it they should honor it. Keep your free oil change.

I just can't say enough about Jim Van Dyke's Automotive Repair. They are so friendly and patient, got me right in, too. I didn't know that Jim is a master mechanic, one of only 500 in the country and over 40 years experience. I had a very complicated brake repair...Jim found the correct parts to fix it, and had me on the road in no time. They called me regularly with updates too. I offer you all my highest recommendation for this place to get a top quality repair in a timely manner, and treated right in every possible way. The repairs & service done on my car has been great. Everyone I ve met there is very helpful & friendly. They re always willing to listen about the noise I ve heard, check it out & explain what the problem might be & give me options. Very trustworthy service, they want to make sure repairs have been done correctly & will follow up with you. You can know your car is safe to drive. I have dealt with them for a few years now & I sure appreciate their help.

I used to come here regularly for oil changes, but quit after the lies began. Once I was told my master cylinder was bad...leaking brake fluid...needed fixed immediately. I told them I could do it myself, got my vehicle home checked it out, and found NO PROBLEM. Next time I went back they said my water pump was leaking, they even brought me back to the bay to see how much antifreeze had leaked out in the short time they had it to change the oil. I told them it was awfully curious that there's NEVER a puddle in my garage...not even a small spot. They didn't have much to say about my observation...just looked at their feet and mumbled something.My biggest problem with this shop though, is when you walk in you're inundated with Christian music and TV, and a bible on the table, and all the signs of a "good and honest" shop, but then the lies start, and if you're ignorant enough to believe them, they'll take you for all they can.You are correct, there should be NO DeeDee Bamkoft, but then I NEVER said it was my name, however I did notice you didn't say I was lying, just that you couldn't find me. I hope others notice this as well!

The only place my wife and I will take our vehicles. Great service, great people, great business . It's a family business and now a days that means a lot. Not to mention that your treated like family. These kind of values make an amazing business. They explain exactly what's wrong and what needs to be done to fix the problem. There good, honest people plan and simple. You get quality work at Jim's.....period. Your never going to have to come back to have the same issue fixed....it's done right the first time. Raymond and Brad.....these guys are awesome and the best at what they do!......Shawn's okay too, still trying to figure out what he does though ......... You know I'm kidding Shawn

What a good honest place to get work done on your vehicle. Husband and I moved here from Columbus and we left a really good mechanic. I have been burned so many times from mechanic so I needed a place I can trust. Jim Van Dyke's Automotive is that very place.They always have time to get my vehicles worked on within 24-48 hours. Their prices and honest trustworthy work is why my husband and I will be long term customers.

My car broke down near there business and I found them on Google. I was 2.5 hours from my house. They made sure they got my vehicle in promptly and had me back on the road very quickly. I wish I lived closer they would do all my car work. Thanks guys I finished my trip with no problems.

Definitely found my go-to shop in Washington Court House! A rear coil spring broke on my car last week and I wanted to do it at home. However, after buying the parts I needed, it became quite apparent that this was not a job to be done in the home garage on jack stands. So I talked to them on a Friday, and they said they could get to it Monday or Tuesday if I brought it in and quoted a very reasonable price for the labor. Had the car towed in that day; on Monday morning received a call that it was ready.This shop provided accurate and up front time expectations and cost estimates, and stuck to it. Could not be happier with them!

Shawn went above and beyond for me. He got me in and job finished sooner than was expected, which was a blessing in itself. Very grateful for a great business and employee.. What a great and trustworthy places. We recently moved down here and we we're nervous about finding a new place to work on our cars. The staff have such a welcoming personality. Definitely recommend getting work done here.

Our family was traveling from Indiana back home to Virginia after Christmas. We started noticing a loud noise in our front, drivers side wheel area. We stopped in on Friday afternoon around 3. They were able to fit us in, replace our wheel bearing and send us on our way by 5. Very friendly staff, clean facility and fantastic service!! We feel blessed to have had car trouble near Jim Van Dyke s Automotive Repair! Thank you, Thank you!

Van. Dyke's had my truck 3 days, to try and find a electrical problem. Unable to find the trouble. I am ok with that it's a problem that that will very hard to find. The problem I have is I went to pick up the truck after work and it had a FLAT Tire. Surely they must have the tire. I was charged 100.00 to be told my oil was low .I understand this is a business and they got workers to pay but that's crazy .I have spent thousands of dollars in this shop over the past 8 yrs .I been told by several people this shop is a rip off but I had to learn on my own .I knew they were pricey but that's insane .Costly lesson to learn but they will never get my business again .I have been Leary lately seems every time I take one of my vehicles there I'd get estimate of hundreds of dollars of things they say needed done after the last visit I'm wondering what all really needed done .Over the years there friendly family atmosphere is really went down hill. I will not recommend this shop to anyone again .I will be taking my vehicles elsewhere .I have already found another shop and as far as refunding me as you stated I have no desire to step back in that garage for anything im very disappointed and if you are so willing to refund money then should never charged in the first place .As for free oil change you have the little deal 5th oil change is free .Good luck and I will make sure not to recommend this shop .

My car was stranded on Memorial Day on the side of the road. I was driving and my car was making noise and my car came to a complete stop. My left tie rod came off my tire. I had my car towed to Jim Van Dyke's Automotive & Tire Center. They checked out my car really good. They found my right tie rod was going out also. My rack and pinion was bad. My power steering fluid was leaking. I am so glad that they found all of this and fixed it for me. I could have been in a really bad wreck the shape my car was in. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Everyone that works there is very honest and hard-working and dependable. They even came and picked me up so I could come take my car home. I thank all of you at Jim Van Dyke's Automotive & Tire Service for everything that you have done to help me and help others!

I have been taking my 1998 Subaru Legacy to this shop/garage for 6 years and could not be more satisfied. All issues are discussed and prioritized. They understand that often I can afford only what is needed fixed now and we arrange for any future work that needs to be done. I don't know how many Subarus they work on, but they sure are knowledgeable about mine....... I will aways go to them first!

They checked my car out, called me to discuss the issue and quoted me a price. The next day the work was done and I had my car back. Very friendly and great service!!!! Would highly recommend!!!
