I was recommend here my a good coworker. My heat wasn't working properly. I decided to give this shop a go and it was just okay. They did work with extended warranty which was appreciated, but I had to pay $700 in addition to my deductible. The work was slopy at best . At pickup, my car was filthy and i had loose trim everywhere. I then had to take it back that same week because it started throwing different codes. They did do the job and my heat works well now. It was just a little frustrating in the process.I do understand that this was a major job but i wish a little more professionalism had taken place. If you don't feel comfortable doing the job, be upfront instead of taking the job.

Initial welcome is very pleasant. Craig was engaging and fun; even at first call for appointment yesterday. I feel there will be no need to say anything bad after my oil change, and the price quote is about $20 less than those drive through instant oil and inspection outlets. For the future, I will definitely support our local businesses as most times in the past.Kit

Mechanics were quick to diagnose and resolve the issue with my truck. The estimate aligned with the final cost and the cost was reasonable.

I hit an animal about two months ago or so, thought that since Jim s had been open for a long time and that it was mostly good reviews that I would have no problems. The animal ruined a lot of stuff in my car and brought the total of the repairs to over $2,000. I didn t have my car for about a month due to insurance taking a while. In the end I got my car back and thought everything was fine until my check engine light came on. I called Jim s since it wasn t on before I took it there, so I brought it back a second time after plugging in a reader for my engine myself. I told them something was wrong with my 02 sensor and the air shutter sensor was on which were two things they should have fixed. Apparently they didn t put the air sensor in the right place and didn t plug back in my 02 sensor. I went to pick it up and as I was on my way to work my engine light came on again. So I called them and took it back. They told me that I had a bad 02 sensor and that it would be $500 to replace and also tried charging me $100 to pick it up. I went in there with my moms fianc and told them I was concerned because I had taken it there twice and they didn t see that the sensor was bad. The guy at the desk told me we aren t going to sit there and dig for something when the sensor isn t on I told him that I told them that and the other guy said it was their fault because it wasn t plugged back in. He said he wasn t aware and was extremely rude. We didn t end up paying the $100 and he said just to keep you happy I ll give it to you and take the heat for it. In a very demeaning and snarky tone. Now about a month later or less I am replacing my 02 sensor myself which has saved about $200-$300 and have found my skid plate is being held on with a zip tie and maybe 2 screws? I would think it could have been valvoline if I didn t find a screw the first time I picked up my car in the side pocket on my driver door that matched the screws to my skid plate. I would never recommend this shop to anyone.

I had a slight emergency when my front left brake pad locked up near Mount Gilead on 71. I got off the road and started calling around. I was in the process of moving north from Columbus and definitely was in a tight spot. I was able to contact Jim's Auto center and they told me to bring it by. They diagnosed the problem and got me taken care of that day and they guarantee their work. I would definitely recommend them for any auto repairs. Thanks again for your help.

Very nice people, finally a place that treated me good in Sunbury.Had my oil changed and tires rotated while I waited and for a very fair price. Not over $100 as many of these other shops do to you and I got it for under $50.Thank you guys much.

UPDATE ON 8/28: I have used Jim's Auto on my aging fleet and personal vehicles now for almost 3 years. My experience is extensive exhaust and suspension work, steering components along with tire maintenance and/or replacement, engine maintenance and braking components.ORIGINAL RATING: I'm relatively new to Sunbury. I was in need of some tricky exhaust work due to hitting something hard on the freeway. The original service center IN SUNBURY went to said it was "out of their wheelhouse". They recommended Jim's Auto Center, instead. I was prepared for the worst because my exhaust was LOUD. I expected new muffler at the very least. I even voiced this concern. As it turns out, I just needed to replace a simple braided piece of exhaust pipe that was rusted and had torn. I've used Jim's Auto on several occasions since. My experience with Jim's Auto Center is limited to oil changes, general maintenance and the exhaust work outlined above. In all cases, scheduled maintenance options were presented to me when in for an oil change. They were forthcoming of what maintenance could wait vs. what they highly recommended. All work has been done on time. Exhaust repairs seem to be holding up well. All costs have come in as estimated and were very competitively priced (yes, I shopped around). There is a steep cost to employing certified professional mechanics and experienced service staff. I'd rather have this team work on my vehicle than to pay the cheapest price at national chains where "trainees" are doing the work. If I'm in need any repair that Jim's Auto could provide, I would certainly feel comfortable having them do the repairs. Also, there is something about this shop that is worth noting...especially given some of the negative reviews. Personally, I like to be approached about scheduled maintenance and associated costs. It seems some reviewers feel like they're being "upsold". There is an element of that of which is true in every business (i.e. would you like that combo large size or medium....never suggesting the small). Any good business is going to do this. It's their job to inform you of recommended service...and of course, they want to be the ones to do the work. I'm not offended by this. In no way was I pressured to do it all at once. They helped me prioritize the service and provided me estimates for everything else. Now I'm informed and can budget for the upcoming maintenance.Lastly....there ARE less expensive shops that will install CUSTOMER PROVIDED parts. I've used them myself. There's a place for shops like that; especially for those in a pinch. But don't be offended if a service center doesn't operate under that model. It's their reputation at risk. There are CHEAP parts out there...and if that cheap part fails or breaks, people are too quick to blame it on the service shop. I wouldn't take a cheap raw steak from Walmart to Texas Roadhouse and say "here...cook this for me".Services: Exhaust, General repairs & maintenance, Steering & suspension replacement, Auto brake repair, Tire rotations, Wheel alignment, Auto maintenance, Oil change

Had to take my car in for repairs after I hit a large piece of semi tire debris on the freeway. I was referred to Jim's Auto by a family member, and was very pleased with the service I received. The damage ended up not being as bad as I was expecting, and they even discovered that my lug nuts were beginning to rust and recommend to have them replaced. When I drove away my wallet may not have been happy but I definitely was!

Brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. The owner came and explained every question I had and helped me understand an issue with one of my tires. I couldn't appreciate this shop more.My car runs great, and is all pretty and fixed up.They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. They were thorough and professional and fast.Win, win, win.If you're in Sunbury and in need of vehicle service I STRONGLY recommend this shop.

I was referred here oddly enough by another local mechanic (Ruark) for some exhaust work after the flange rusted out/broke on my 15 year old Accord. They did great work replacing and welding everything back together and were very prompt to get it done as well! Dropped off Wednesday night and it was done Thursday afternoon. They also replaced the battery. Great folks to work with, pricing was right, and service was prompt. Will be back!Services: Exhaust, Battery

Very professional! Very knowledgeable! Amazing owner and mechanics! I've not had any issues with taking my car to Jim's Auto. They're all very straight forward and will not lie to you about what's wrong with your vehicle like other shops. Being a girl, a lot of other shops try to take advantage of me thinking I don't know anything about my car. Will definitely keep going back!Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine tuning, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Oil change

I've been taking my trucks here for repairs and upgrades. They are great! Upgraded exhaust, rotors, and pads. Tires rotated and oil changes. Finally found a place I can trust and rely on. Easy to schedule appointments and they communicate very well.

Actually I've been there many times under the previous owners who were wonderful people! My daughter had work done there. You told her she needed about $1200 worth of work done. We took it to another local mechanic and had $50 put into it and runs great! On top of that whoever she spoke with was not very nice to her.

I've been bringing my cars to Jim's Auto Center for about 10 years now. Craig and his team, do great work in a timely manner. His customer service is outstanding. ( I've been to mechanics that haven't treated me fair or been honest) Take your car in for service, you won't be disappointed.

I do not have the words to express our gratitude of how wonderful Craig and his team treated us in our time of need. We were on our way to a funeral and had a blow out. The tire was rusted to the hub and we could not get the spare on. We had our car towed to Jim's and within 30 minutes they put on a new tire for us. We needed a kind act at that time and this meant so much to us.

Every time I come into this shop, I'm always greeted with a smile and a great attitude. On top of quick and accurate service, I'm always made aware of any other issues without being pushed into fixing them right away. Expertise and customer service are always top notch and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else! Always a pleasure dealing with Jim's Auto and I recommend it to anyone else looking for a good, small town shop!

Was starting to become concerned that every time I went in for an oil change they found something else wrong that needed fixed ASAP. Then I was denied using a coupon that was only for new customers , the coupon said nothing about that on it. Final visit to Jim s I was met by Craig in the man cave waiting room with horrible news. My car needed $1900 in repairs immediately. Craig even appeared to be worried about my safety if I drove away without fixing it. I took his estimate to my hometown mechanic. There was nothing wrong with my car, in fact he had repairs on the estimate for parts that my car doesn t even have. My hometown mechanic did a tuneup for $93 and my car has been ruining fine for over 6 month since leaving Jim s. Beware of these shady mechanics. FYI this is the first google review I ve ever left. I normally don t get caught up in this stuff but felt I owe it to others to share my experiences.

We were experiencing motor issues with our truck. It ended up needing major repairs but they did a great job fixing it for a reasonable price and in just a few days. I would strongly recommend them.

After I got my car back it was still over heating so I took my car to a more trusted shop. I took it in to replace the radiator, water pump, thermostat and hoses. After telling them what Jim s auto did they told me they didn t get all of the air out of the lines and they triple charged me for parts and labor. After speaking with them all he had to say was it s not my fault . Don t take your car here for anything!!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

After recently moving to Sunbury, I found myself in need of an oil change. I knew I wanted to support a local business and found Jim s Auto Center through a Google search. I was able to easily schedule an appointment online and the team was very thorough. All work was completed within the pre-established timeframe and was on budget with what I expected to pay. I will definitely be back the next time my vehicle needs service!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Tires, Oil change

Repair seems to have been done correctly but that s about where the positives stop. Had my harmonic balancer replaced. Was then told a sensor was bad, and he charged $130 extra to do so. Whatever, that s neither here nor there. But he was very stern and defensive the minute I asked questions. The whole experience was frustrating. Ended up paying $250 for a job that I was quoted $120 to do originally. Just be careful if you take something here. They seem to be the type that will always find something else to get more money from you, as other reviews have said. And the customer service is not great. Very disappointed as they are local. Also, on another note they were not careful about dirt or grime in my car. My dash around the key was covered in dirt and grease and so was my seat.

Craig and Rob were extremely honest in repairing my truck. The work was done on schedule and at the cost quoted. Rob took the time to explain the repair and some future items to watch. Highly recommended this shop to anyone needing repair work done.

The mechanics at Jim's are the best! They fix my car right the first time and the shop still has small town pricing, way cheaper than going to Columbus I never have to wait long for quick services like an oil change, and longer ones, like a brake service or timing belt, are done within 24 hours. My only choice for Auto Repair!
