Brought my power washer in to be repaired. they had it for 3 months with no communication. I called twice and never got a call back on timeline etc. So picked it back up with nothing done the guy loading it my car was smoking a cigarette as he did it. I had chosen this place due to the great reviews. I did not see that level of attention.

I m from 2 hours north. With a car full of women and not a single one of use had a clue how to fix a tire we noticed we had a flat tire when I got here. Not good. I know I need to learn how to put on a spare I called a few tire shops, some seemed annoyed with my call and as soon as I called Thorpe Tire service I knew to go there since they were so friendly over the phone. They helped me right away and were supper friendly. Austin was so sweet making sure to answer all my questions and even have a few pointers on places to visit while we were down here. They repaired my tire and put it back on for free! I couldn t believe how incredibly kind they were! As a women being 2 hours from home and being fairly helpless in the current situation they could have charged me any amount of $$$ and I would have forked it over no questions asked because I needed to get home! Thank you thank you!

To be honest, the speed of service is quite slow and the prices are steep! I like and go out of my way to help out small businesses but, I'm just not feeling it! I've done business with Thorpe about 5 times and I'm not impressed, not bad, just blah and $$$$. Sorry, just being honest and hopefully this might help by giving our families impressions

I had my tires replaced here and had an excellent experience. They were able to get the tires i needed within a day! I had my 2 year old son with me , and they put on his favorite cartoons while we waited. Super quickand helpful ! We will be returning customers.

Highly recommend Thorp! Austin was very fast in getting back with me on a quote for a few tires and alignment. Went out of his way and even got me in after hours!

Had $5,300 worth of work done in July. Gave a pretty good review. Exhaust "completely " done and some other work. December my truck sounds like a diesel. Took truck back and was told my exhaust manifold needed replaced. Price quote I received was $1,500-$2,500. Definitely didn't have work done. Found another shop who did job for under $750 and even asked why exhaust manifold wasn't replaced when whole exhaust was replaced 5 months prior. I definitely feel like they were trying to take advantage and don't appreciate it. Will not recommend and never go back.

Paid $400 for an oil change and a new oil filter in my mower. I assume they looked over my? No explanation of what else was checked or repaired. I would love a more detailed explanation as to what was looked at and what may need to be repaired soon like air filters or spark plugs? I was told they clean off mowers but mine look the same. $400 seem to like a lot of money for what I could tell was done.Service: Oil change

Great garage with reasonable prices. They won t oversell you and will give you advice on what exactly your vehicle needs to get back on the road. Owner is dedicated to quality over profit and that s hard to find these days.

I've used Thorpe for a few repairs and general maintenances on my 2015 Chevy Equinox. I always feel like I get treated fairly and everything is explained well. Made appointment to drop car off for an oil change and other stuff. Dropped it off the night before. Heard nothing from them All day Friday. This being a Friday evening, I finally call the, about 4:30 for an update. They had lost or forgotten the appointment and its details. Didn t notify me. Then they said they didn t get around to it that day and they ll do it on Monday. They left it sit all day and didn t call me. Then they told me Whatever . I say never, ever again. Later the owner replied that it was a customer problem, not theirs. I didn t shout but spoke authoritatively. I m not in any way belligerent, just factual. Take care of business and you wouldn t have upset customers.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I bought tires and have service done on my vehicle. Both times, they were absolutely wonderful. Value and service were second to none. They took the time to explain what was going on and my options without high pressure sales. They even hunted down a bolt I mentioned in passing as not being able to locate at any auto part store. Above and beyond service from an owner who loves his community and sees everyone as if they are family.

I had them order new tires and schedule an oil change, Mount and balance new tires. I scheduled my appointment with 10 days notice and when I showed up they said they didn't have me scheduled and they didn't have the tires. Charged $89 for an oil change. They called me 10 minutes before they closed despite having my vehicle all day to tell me they couldn't get my tires off because they couldn't find the wheel lock key. By the time I had a chance to look for it it was 10 min past 5pm and they had closed and there was no one there to answer my call. Had to wait till the next day to pick up my car and ended up having to go to the dealer anyway. There are some great reviews of this local garage and hopefully I just got them on a bad day.

Thorpe is a great local shop to go to for all your repair and maintenance needs. I've gone to them multiple times for a variety of services and have been treated well with fair pricing. The vehicle always returns in better shape than it came in. I received the BEST Service today from Owner Austin Thorpe and Writer Elise. It is hard to find trustworthy and an honest shop. Instead of off doing the work themselves they referred me back to the dealer because there was a service bulletin extending the warranty and my engine was covered.I will definitely take my cars there.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

I messaged Thorpe Garage on a Sunday evening worried about how I was going to make it to work on Monday because my car was not starting. They messaged me back the same night and told me they would get my car taken care of. The place before didn t install my battery correctly. They got my car fixed up and dropped it back off to me at work across the street. Professional, dependable, amazing service!Service: General repairs

My F-150 was running very rough. I went to Thorpe Garage in Johnstown as it was near where I live. Tia, at the office counter did a great job of taking my information and understood all the aspects of my issues. Smart and professional. Their mechanic Ron had my truck for a few days and spent time diagnosing the problem. He contacted me at every step and assured me the repairs would be remedied. The issue was hard to diagnose, however, Ron persisted and found several electro/mechanical issues in the fuse box. Another problem was found with an oxygen sensor. Overall it took about a week or more to fix the issues. Ron's diligent workmanship was fantastic. I was appraised of the on going situations daily and was assured that the condition would be solved. He also contacted the Ford factory and found there was a factory upgrade that was needed. Altogether, I am completely pleased with all of Thorpe Garages professional services. Austin and Kris are top notch mechanics, I trust them with EVERYTHING on my car. They have done everything from brakes, to preventative maintenance to custom exhaust work on my car. They always have the best price in town, always keep me informed and up to date on the status of my car, and prepare me for future maintence so I can know what I need to save and when I need to get it done. I will NEVER take my car anywhere else, not as long as the team at Thorpe Automotive maintains the excellence that I have come to expect from every visit. So glad these guys are in town!

Went in to repair my trailer plug on my truck that was not operational, they said it was fixed. it was not, brought it back two more times and they still said it was fixed which it was not, asked for a refund and was told by the owner it was unfair to not compensate the mechanics for their time even though they did not fix the plug and that I knew my vehicle has electric problems and to just deal with the issue. I also wanted them to turn off my dash lights and have them fix the issues causing them along with doing a new exhaust. they placed a new ABS fuse in a fuse box which was missing from the time I bought the truck 2yrs ago, they said the ABS issue was fixed and sent me off, upon entering the truck I see the ABS light is still on and when I barely hit my breaks my front wheels lock up due to the abs engaging causing me to almost wreck, I brought this to Austin's (The Owner) attention and stated how upset I was that an auto shop would allow a vehicle to leave the lot with breaks locking up and that he needs to fix the issue on the shops dime. he stated that I intentionally took the ABS fuse out before bringing the truck in knowing that the breaks would lock up so I can get free parts and labor. my new exhaust was also not fixed completely and is hanging low and making a loud noise. paid $2,240.10 and was blamed for their issues and received no refunds on the issues they did not fix correctly. 0/10 rating.Services: Transmission, Electrical repair, Exhaust, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, General repairs, Brakes

I don t like leaving negative reviews, but I was very frustrated when I recently tried to schedule a tire service. I called several times to try and get an appointment and appointments weren t made or the necessary tires weren t ordered when an appointment was finally set. I respect Mr. Thorpe and his service to the community but this was just a frustrating all around experience and I wound up going somewhere else.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Austin Thorpe and all the employees at Thorpe, are going to do the very best job because they care about the customers. It's why they're there. So we can have vehicles that are safe and reliable. ***** five stars from me!!
