Not really sure how best to rate this, so 2 it is. I'm sure they do a good job at your standard 350 Chevy, or anything that isn't too overly complex.. but this was not the case with my 400 Olds. They were behind the 8 ball from the start as the previous shop I had the engine dropped the ball on their end, so the first attempt at assembly was put on hold due to the wrong bearings ordered, and bent rods. After I was able to locate new rods and pistons I was put at the end of the line. They did however order correct bearings, new valvetrain components, etc. Once assembly began again, all seemed to be well until pickup. I was supposed to have the carburetor rebuilt and run on the dyno.. which didn't happen. The engine was run on the dyno solely to break the cam in with a carburetor they had in house, but was unable to make a pull.Once I got the engine in the car, we spent 3 days chasing our tail only to realize it was 180 out from where it should've been. I also spent a little over a year, multiple carburetors, changed intake gaskets multiple times, changed spark plug type, chasing a low vacuum/poor performance/low compression/poor timing issues only to finally break down and verify that the cam was 16 retarded. At one point I called and was told the timing set supplied did not allow the cam to be degreed, even though the cam card required it to be installed 2 advanced. They will not rectify the issue without me pulling the engine and scheduling it back in the line.. options that I don't have. So after meeting thousands of dollars, this engine is currently apart in the car in my garage while we change timing sets to allow it to be degreed as it should be.In summary..if you want an assembly shop- Performance Clinic will suffice. If you want an engine builder who will make sure everything is correct.. look elsewhere.

Dave is rebuilding my Vortec 383 and took plenty of time to go over what I wanted and then Dave explained what was was better or not. His live for motors is Amazing. Soon my truck will come home and I will come back with an update.Well my High Performance 383 engine runs smoothly not a bad way to keep my 1996 Chevy running... Thank You All...

Would not recommend. Did not install the o-ring on my boundary oil pump when assembling the bottom end which caused the pictured oil leak on first start. I've also attached a picture of my receipt with my info censored, so you know I'm an actual customer. When calling about the issue, I was polite, yet the person on the phone was rude and they did not stand behind their work. Disappointing.

Dave and the team rebuilt my engine about 2 years ago for $4,000 less than I was quoted elsewhere. They did the entire rebuild in less than 2 weeks and fixed several other problems along the way. Dave personally spent lots of time on the phone with me explaining everything that was going on in understandable ways. He also saved several of the broken parts that were removed from my vehicle to show to me. The had me in for regular checks after the rebuild.Just recently, my rear engine seal started heavily leaking and I immediately had my vehicle towed to Performance Auto Clinic as I was confident they would take good care of me. Greg took care of everything in less than 24 hours (staying at the shop until after midnight to pull the engine) even though the repair was out of warranty. These guys seriously take care of their customers. I am so thankful to have found this place.

These guys rebuilt our engine for the best price in the area. They stood by their work longer than they had to. Greg put in extra/late hours to get our latest issue fixed faster than we could have imagined. Way beyond expectations all around. When our car broke down late at night, we sent it there knowing they would take care of us and they did!

I'm writing this review under my daughters Google account. My name is Rex Gunning and I've been building four cylinder Ford engines used in small formula cars for about 45 years. I had had a situation where a customer's engine lost a rod bearing and contaminated the dry sump oiling system. Some of the rod bearing material floating around inside the engine seemed to be smeared on some of the cam lobes. There didn't seem to be any scoring of the cam surfaces but it just didn't look right. I was trying to find someone in the area that could potentially polish the cam lobes to see if the cam could be saved and thought I'd give Dave's business a try. I call Performance Clinic and talked with Dave and he told me to bring it over for a look. I stopped by about 45 minutes before closing time and Dave evaluated the cam. He was very receptive and gave me his assessment. Then he took the cam and returned after about 10 minutes with everything polished up and looking like new and handed it back to me. I asked him what I owed him and he pretty much eluded that the little time he had in the labor was not worth the time to fill out the paperwork. We chatted about engine rebuilding and it was a pleasure to talk with someone that had a lifetime of experience. My recommendation is " Give Performance Clinic a try!"

The team at Performance Clinic has handled both my passenger car and performance engine needs for twenty years. The work they do is top notch. Greg and Dave have always helped guide me to the best outcome for my personal projects. If your looking for a top quality machine shop, look no further. Performance Clinic is the only place I trust for both my own and my repair shop customers machine work and performance part needs.

Greg decked the motor on my 1964 Corvette. The cutter marks extended into the engine pad and there were deep scratches across the pad. He had sanded the pad but didn't think that caused the scratches despite sending him photos of the clean, original pad taken prior to the rebuild. Broach marks are gone now, scratches remain. The true test of character is admitting your mistakes. Greg failed. I won't be back.

They are the best in the business. And cheaper than the rest. Dave is a engine master. His wife works the front desk and is the prettiest and sweetest there is. Love this place. Built me a monster 6.0L Chevy motor in my avalanche. Nasty fast for a truck. Thanks to everyone at performance clinic

This place is exactly where you do not want to take you car. Owner Dave and daughter appear to be decent and qualified , don't be fooled. Had my engine rebuilt over charged for the work. I need to have the engine rebuilt again. I read the ratings before I went in hoping it was a bad reviews, turns out it was true. AVOID THE PLACE LIKE YOU WOULD AVOID COVID 19. BEWARE !!!! STAY AWAY IM OUT 7000 DOLLARS.

This place is the best! Great communication from the time I asked about having an engine shipped to store to the day I picked up my car. Really reasonable prices for parts/labor and the engine they swapped for us runs like a dream. A+ experience the whole way and I would go back to this place in a heartbeat - thanks, Performance Clinic!

My first time coming into the shop and speaking to the owner Mr. Middleton was great, he seemed willing and able to help me with getting my motor rebuilt as this was the shops specialty. I was given an estimate, I crunched some numbers and felt it was fair. Once I dropped off the car I was told it would only take 2 weeks, as long as all parts were ready and available. I provided all parts as agreed within the day of drop off. I verified that it would take no longer than a month as I m leaving town on orders. on wk2 I asked if there was an estimate of when it would be completed I was transferred to Mr. Middleton. Frustrated he asked me why I m asking him and that the receptionist told me the status. I notified him I needed to have the vehicle shipped out. On the 3rd week I received the vehicle on Friday I noticed oil stains on the engine and bay, oil on the oil cooler lines and filter looking like a leak. When driving I noticed as I came home that my oil pressure gauge was showing zero. When checking the sensor guessing just a bad connection, the connector was cracked. I was able to press the connector on and then I was reading low oil pressure, I also could not build boost when accelerating. I called back the next day as they were already closed and asked if they could look into it the following Monday. I dropped off the vehicle Monday morning and on Wednesday of the 4th week I called and was told they were just looking at the car. the next day was told the oil was just overflow from when they connected the turbo and that they apparently tried to find a connector to replace the broken one, but the one they received wasn t the right one. I informed him it was an aftermarket sensor I had installed only a month ago. I wanted to just ask for them to pay for the price of the piece, and I would replace it myself, thinking it would be no issue, Mr. Middleton asked why I would do that? I explained it wasn t broken when I brought the car in, but if they don t want to do that...no problem I ll take care of it. I asked about the oil pressure, he stated it was normal and that he could try to raise the idle to raise the pressure. When asking about the boost issue, I was told there was probably a problem with my waste gate causing the issue. When asking if they knew for sure Mr. Middleton told me "I don t know". I explained that the waste gate is mechanical, not electric and any issues would have to be exhaust related. I was told, it needed to be put on a dyno to figure out where the issue was with the turbo, I asked if he could do that, he informed me, im not a tuner shop . Since then I took my car home, checked over everything myself. I found that the boost issue was with the turbo exhaust piping not being aligned properly. The pipes are connected using V-band clamps, and the pipes must align properly before being tightened. This is something I would expect a shop of their tenure and caliber to know. When I first met Mr. Middleton and talked to him about this build he asked me, why a Hyundai? I guess I should have thought from that question, that maybe they didn t want to do this work, regardless of that if I m paying over 2 and a half grand for work to be done, I don t think it should matter. Personally I feel that the work was rushed and a bit sloppy, as professional as they seemed, I expected a car with no issues. Not a vehicle with oil spills and stains cracked sensors and exhaust issues, these were small details, and simple fixes. I feel like once they had my money they no longer wanted anything to do with me or my vehicle, and I don t think any motor enthusiast or paying customer should be treated that way, the issues were a simple fix but instead I was put aside for another week with no real solution. On the up side I will say Mr. Larry was very attentive to any questions I had. My only hope is that they did proper work when building my motor, if the small issues I had above were ignored and looked past, I pray that the rest was not.

I waited to do a review on the Ford 302 short block that was built for me. I wanted to get some miles on it first. It seems at only approximately 5000 miles into a new build that a good size step and a gouge has formed in my #1 cylinder bore. It appears to be a ring issue and is causing an oil problem. It will already need repaired.

I had what I thought would be a quick easy job for them a 350 overbored .03 that i wanted cleaned, line bored, cam bearings, and freeze plugs installed so far the only thing I have found is the freeze plug in the back of the engine was knocked into the block to which I spent a whole 10 minutes getting out and when I called to ask why it was left in the engine the they offer to replace the freeze plug but I had already pulled the one they left inside the block and I informed him of this to which I get so what's the problem? Really you dont see the problem I pay you to do a job and you show me that you could care less about the quality of your work and hiding your lake over care over 10 minutes of work to ensure your customer gets the quality you are trying to sell

they put off to be very nice people i was excited to take my motor to them to have it rebuilt! i called in to get pricing and to figure out when i could drop it off! when i got there and already dropped the motor off was when the owner informed me that the motor had to be bare and that he would not put everything back on and that it would be an extra 100$ to put everything back on. so i figured i will do it myself. when i went to pick them up i called ahead of time because there was a chance of rain and the owner said they could put plastic or bags on it for me to help cover it up instead there was nothing on the motor they set the motor in my truck, they tossed everything else into 2 boxes and then instead of atleast helping me get the heavy parts into the truck they set them on the ground with their floor lift and went back in and shut the doors on me! for as much as i paid i would have assumed better organization and atleast a little help getting everything packed away and ready to drive away! i just hope their motor work isn't as bad as the help i got picking my motor up!

Performance Clinic helped me with an engine rebuild for mu 2008 Mini Cooper s (R56). They ported the head, installed new cams and rebuilt it along with machining and assembly of the lower end. The crew here is top notch and I highly recommend them. Financially they came in right on budget also. That is a big one for me also.

My first interaction with the Performance Clinic was somewhat off putting. My knowledge of Engines is limited and i have been doing my research online to try to put together a 5.3L build that would fit my needs in theory. I had asked about putting a Z06 Cam in a 5.3L LM7 as i had seen done from my online research (Simple one to two sentence question). The response i got was "I dont care", "I dont care what you read online" that is too much cam for the 5.3L. Obviously goes without saying that there could be some truth to what he was saying but don't know as he didnt bother to provide simple knowledge transfer. When you talk to potential Customers like this, it's not a good approach to secure future business from them.

Terrible work. Gave them 3 chances to get it right. Spent a ton of cash here to rebuild my engine. It was 3 times to many. All 3 times, they blames the rings, they blamed wiseco, and everyone else but them. Lets put this in perspective. 50 miles a quart of oil. They cannot build engines. The machine work on my head was not up to par. Had to pull heads off and get them redone. Also resulted in blowing engine 2 times. Due to high oil consumption, pre detonation on 2 cylinders. I cannot stress the quality of the work. Cant believe they are in business still.
