I highly recommend this place. I brought my mustang in. They did a check up on it after a couple of weeks. They handled any problem that I had. Being a woman it's hard to find an automotive place who doesn't try to rip you off. Scott was straight to the point and got it done in a timely manner. Everyone there was very friendly

Very disappointed in service. I had them replace my transmission with a rebuilt one at $5k. With less than 50k miles it began to slip again. I called and spoke with Scott who said bring it in. Before I had it towed there I had my regular mechanic top off all fluids. I had it towed there- I had to keep calling to 1) check it got there and 2) to see when they would look at it. I never got to speak with Scott for 2 weeks on the 3rd Monday it was there he called at 7:30 am and said the transmission fluid was 2 quarts low - I asked him where all that fluid had gone he said he didn't know but he drove it and it was fine. Then he proceeded to tell me that I needed to give him authorization to open up the transmission- I repeatedly asked him how much and he said I just needed to give him authority to open it up - I said I needed to know how much that would cost - he then asked what kind of car I had- what kind of motor- (if he had driven maybe he would have known) he was very frustrated that I would not just give him authorization and he had to look it up and proceeded to tell me it would be $920 just to look at it but if it was a leak - he would try to work with me but if it was a cracked flywheel there was nothing he could do. I told him not to do anything I needed to make some calls - he said it didn't matter because it was parked in the back of the shop. I had it towed - no one said a word to me while I was there for the transfer- my regular mechanic put additives in to correct a small leak and I have put an additional 3k miles on it with no issues. Words cannot express the failure of service- failure to communicate and the absolute failure of trust here to take advantage of a woman who had already spent 5k there- held onto the car without a single phone call for going on three weeks and then to try to force me to give authorization without knowing the cost.

Montana rig, (Chevy Tahoe), needed transmission rebuilt. Scott and team helped get this in the shop around Christmas time, and out at a decent time, in order for me to hit the road again. Thanks for the professional service guys! (J & B Transmission was recommended by Tim at Centerville Service Center , who is also another great shop)Service: Transmission

Did over 3500$ worth of work by putting a new transmission in a vehicle a family member had there. They did the work without any consent. No paper signing, no down payment. They were only supposed to "look" at it and see what the issue was. Instead of reaching back out and explaining he issue, they took it upon themselves to just put a rebuilt transmission in the vehicle and said they were owed 3600$... so the family member was forced to sign the title over because he is disabled and not able to afford that kind of money right now. This place is a scam.who does 3600$ worth of work with no signature consent?

While driving my Subaru Outback from Virginia to Montana to my son who is fighting forest fires this summer, the transmission completely gave out and left me stranded along I70 west of Dayton. I called several nearby shops, but they all recommended I take it to J&B Transmission in Dayton. So I called and Scott with J&B, without hesitation, said bring it in and he'd get it up on the rack and look right away.At their shop, I quickly found Scott and Ray to be great to deal with. Scott got the my car right in and started working closely to diagnose the problem with the shop in Virginia who had previously worked on my Subaru. He presented me with several options for a repair. It took several days to get the parts but once they got what they needed, the repair was done quickly. Scott personally put the car through the paces to ensure the transmission repair was solid. I picked up the car the next week and drove it the remaining 1,800 miles and it ran great.Even though I was just passing through and from out of state, Scott and J&B Transmission treated me honestly, with respect, fairly, and charged me appropriately. I would highly recommend J&B Transmission to anyone looking for a trustworthy and expert transmission shop in western Ohio.

I recently brought my 2014 Lincoln here for them to replace a faulty transmission with a used unit that I supplied. Quality mechanical work, and especially transmission work, is never cheap, but the labor rate at J&B was extremely fair. Scott was straight-forward and easy to work with, the shop seems well organized and equipped, and communication throughout the process was great. Turnaround time was also good, given the nature of the job, and my car is now back on the road. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this shop to a friend, and would definitely bring my vehicles back for any future transmission related work.

The service team was very friendly and got on vehicle pretty quickly after we dropped it off. They also pointed out a few other repairs but didn't push to get them done there, and maybe they just stick to transmissions.

I have waited over a year since I had my transmission rebuilt to write this review. The customer service I received at J&B Transmission was top notch. They are a shop that you take your car/ truck to to be fixed correctly the first time. My 2012 Silverado with 185,000ish (original trans) at the time had flat wore the transmission out. I now have 212,000 miles on the truck and it is still as strong as the day they put it in. Should i need transmission work in the future I will return here and recommend that you do the same. I had shopped around and they were the only shop to take time and walk me through their facility and show me their work space. It was clean but clearly an area that had seen frequent use (read took pride in their work and kept their work area's clean). Cleanliness is next to godliness in putting a transmission together.

Prior to my visit I had made several calls to local automotive shops and dealerships for a leaking transmission, there were no open appointments or drop-ins available to diagnose my vehicle for 4 days, and no one that would have been able to tackle any repairs for a minimum of 3 weeks. On the verge of ditching my vehicle, an employee of mine called and let me know that they were taking their vehicle to J&B later that day, he gave me the number, I called and they instructed me to bring it in. The shop is in Dayton, an area that I am unfamiliar with, but as soon as Ray answered the phone I felt at ease. Ray took care of, the repair of my vehicle, contacted my warranty company immediately, and had my vehicle back to me within 24 hours. My truck is a 2008 F-150 and driving home the ride was smoother than the day I drove it off of the lot. Its been 2 weeks since the repairs and there is no additional leaking and it still drives great.I would recommend J&B Transmission to anyone with transmission issues (I would drive out of my way for oil changes at this shop if it were a service they offered!).Ray is personable and efficient, and the crew there knows what they are doing and do it right!

These people are the best! My car runs better than it did when i bought it. My car was 2 months outside the warranty, but they still honored it and fixed it without charge. I'll never go anywhere else.

I had a transmission rebuilt by J&B two years ago after 202,000 miles. I had heard good things about them so I decided to give them a try. Well after 27,000 miles the transmission had a catastrophic failure. I took it back to J&B to have them take a look at it. They looked up the paperwork on it and enthusiastically said it was out of warranty (one year or 10,000 MILES). They offered me a 10 percent discount to rebuild it again which cost $2800.00 in the first place. I have had transmissions rebuilt before and they have gone over 100,000 miles on the rebuild, so I will not be going back to J&B again if that's all the better they can build a transmission!

Dropped off my trailblazer today for some transmission work... Scott was helpful and straightforward with his observations... left the truck for further diagnosis and repairs.... keeping my fingers crossed for mercy... Will provide further updates as the work progresses... wish me luck ! So JB finished the truck and all went well.... total cost was 2800 for a rebuilt transmission and took 6 days... Scott detailed the entire process and showed me the worn parts and the rebuild kit and other machined parts. I was thoroughly satisfied with the work and parts and labor cost. I would highly recommend JB Transmission for any problems your vehicle may encounter...

I cannot put into words just how grateful I am that I took my old Lexus to J&B transmission! Ray was terrific! Why do I say so? Because he refused to work on my transmission when I begged him to do so. You see, Lexus of Dayton told me that my car needed a new transmission at a $3800 cost to me. Ray could have taken my money to repair or replace the transmission. He test drove my car numerous times at my insistence. Each time he would tell me that my car's transmission was OK. J & B is a very honest business!!! They saved my thousands of dollars. I would recommend them to my mother or grandmother, if they were alive!!!.

Worked here for 2 years and these are the most dishonest people I have ever worked for. And it takes them 3 or 4 times to get a transmission built right. I felt like a human dyno machine having to pull out a transmission 3 and 4 times before they had it built right. The only honest person is ray Smith son Chris if it wasn't for him the shop would be in shambles and the guys they have there are not qualified. Only one person is ASE certified that's it. Grow up huh lol it's funny ur the only one with a ASE certification and you cheated on that didn't ya Scott be honest cause I know that's hard to do at that shop. Also b honest with car max and Montgomery county busses and postal cause half that stuff we pulled out there was nothing wrong with it. That was just to line your pockets. And ya u know why I don't work there it's cause you all are liars and thieves. So that being said good luck cause honesty is golden which u all lack. If it wasn't for Chris Smith that shop would go under cause I no Scott couldn't change a tire but can look in a book and call everyone trying to figure out why a transmission wont work.

Took my car there a few years ago and they had it fixed on time. When I asked how much it cost they said the repair was so easy it was no charge. Very honest! Then they showed me how to fix it myself.

Well, this is the first review I've ever written. Strap in folks, it's going to be a long one.I, like most everyone, am very suspicious of repair shops in general. I've heard my fair share of horror stories of people getting totally screwed and extorted for money through car repairs. Being an engine mechanic who doens't fully understand the black magic that goes on inside a modern automatic transmission, I think I fall into the "extremely skeptical" catergory when it comes to transmission shops. My car starting shifting sort of funky and I decided to swallow my pride and take it to a transmission shop before things got any worse. After doing a ton of research about local transmissions shops, I noticed that J&B consistently popped up as a reputable shop. I went through the automatic transmission rebuilders association (ATRA) website and saw that there were about 10 local shops that were ATRA affiliated, but only one shop that was fully ATRA certified...J&B.I figured J&B was my best bet, so I brought my car in. I was still very skeptical and planned on getting a second opinion, asking for free diagnosis and requiring a written & signed price quote before I made any commitments. They took my car for a test drive and when they came back, I was expecting a quote straight from page 1 of the transmission mechanic's playbook, "Yep, it's your transmission...needs to be rebuilt....that'll be 2500 bucks, sir". Imagine my surprise, then, when they said "Bob, you need a new catalytic converter, not a transmission...go get that taken care of and if you're still having transmission problems, come back and see us....no charge for the diagnosis" HOLY HELL! Did I just hear them correctly? They're going to let a possible $2500 walk out the door simply for the sake of being HONEST?? I couldn't believe it...I wanted to hug them. They could have easily rebuilt my transmission for $2500 and fixed the real issue without telling me (like most other shops would have done). Instead, they actually let me take a stab at fixing my car inexpensively someplace else or on my own. I'm not sure if replacing the CAT will fix all of my issues, but if it doesn't, J&B can certainly count on me being a customer as long as I'm in the Dayton area (and maybe even if I'm not...)These are truly stand-up guys and I highly recommend J&B transmission. I hope they keep their ethics and standards on this level for a long time to come. It's great to see that there are still some good, honest people in this crazy worldBob P.

Super friendly, fast service, and great prices. And they even texted me a picture of my fluid pan so I could see for myself what was going on inside my transmission when they were servicing it.

After speaking with the technician and management. I will be taking my car in very soon for repairs on my transmission. They offered lots of arrangements for me and it would be financially better for me.
