This was my first time fishing for walleye and we had a great time. Every person on the boat went home with 6 walleye. The water was a little choppy when we left the dock around 7 am but by the time the day was over it calmed down a little. Dress warmer than the weather. You can always peel off a sweatshirt if you get too hot. It was about 60 degrees when we went out and I wished I had dressed warmer. My mistake. We will definitely be going back again later in the year. 50 cents a pound to get your walleye cut and filleted.

The boat crew is friendly, helpful and professional. The store is well stocked and the workers can help you select the tackle that the anglers are using. The captain moves the boat to keep you on the fish and guides you on how to get the most out of the experience. They even have a photographer to snap a photo of you and your catch when you disembark. There's a fish processing area to clean and package your catch for a reasonable fee. 10/10 recommend this outfitter for a great time on the water.

Didnt catch ANY fish in 8 hours out but that's not necessarily there fault. Otherwise I was happy they accommodated couples in the head boat, wasn't just men, they had separate toilets for men & woman to in boat which is nice. You have to provide your own bait/bait your own hook but only $42 /person to go out. 1st mate was friendly & "would have" netted the fish up to boat for you. They used lots of fuel to try & grind fish. I was upset boat left half hour late but right when we felt bites the time was up & they didnt let us stay out 1/2 hour past to makeup the time & catch fish. Wish they offered discout to Try Again if you dont catch anything at all. The sunrise was gorgeous so worth the views at least. Tip your first mate anyway because they try at least.

Used Sassy Sal on 8/11/23 and was disappointed. The captain went to his spot, never made sure we were on fish and dropped anchor. Fished 3 hrs and fish were dinks and in short supply. We moved straight to another spot dropped anchor, same story. First mate was a nice guy to bad I didn't see him much.

The first mate was extremely friendly and helpful , it was a little early for walleye but we caught many various species of fish . I had a great time learning how to jig.

Great charter service! Nice crew and cool people to hang out with. The boat we go on is bigger and doesn't rock as much so I don't get sea sick like some other charters I've been on.

This is a great group....this was our third trip with them over the years and will be back. This last trip was really good (9/13/20)....they got us on the fish right away while most other boats struggled. Fish cleaning is fast and reasonable.... tip that guy BTW.....he was busting out fish! Our first mate Rob was excellent! Very attentive and had good tips for those that haven't fished for perch. Boat was in great shape too. Thanks for another wonder charter!!

Fishing was a little slow but the first mate and captain worked hard to put us on fish. 1st mate (Spike) was super personable despite being a Giants fan . I ended up taking 3 walleye between 15-19 home. I would come again.

My Mother and I took the afternoon charter with Captain Mark and First Mate Stan. We were on the small boat due to the overflow of fishermen that came that day. It was the most amazing time! The boat limited out ! Both the Captain and Mate were so extremely helpful. CAPT. moved when the bites slowed down. This day brought back beautiful memories of when my Father was alive and we had our family boat. Thank you both for a gorgeous day to remember. Also I want to say all the passengers were cool. I promise GOD made the day truly special. Trust and believe we will be back.

I usually give these guys a 4 or a 5 rating except for this year. We had arrived at around 5:45 am and placed our tackle in line and waited to board the boat at around 6:30. There were already 5 or 6 people who had already placed their tackle in line also. At around 6:00, a group of 7 or 8 people showed up and put their tackle at the front of the line. When we asked what they were doing, they replied that they had placed their bait bucket the night before at the front of the line and someone had moved their bucket on them. They stated this was an acceptable practice by the locals and was approved by the business. This was the first time I ran into this issue and I, along with everyone else standing in line, found this to be unfare. This practice also had to cause alot of problems with people who are not familiar with it. Not sure if I will continue to use a business that shows favoritism for locals over people who drive across the state just to have someone cut in front of them. Other then that, The Captin and First Mate of the boat was very friendly and helpful.

Very unique fishing experience, the weather made the outing rough for a while but the captain kept us as dry and on as calm of waters as he could. The first mate is a great help and very enthusiastic.

The best head boat charter experience I've ever been on. Captain Brian and first mate mark a hard-working and very personable. Use them 3 days in a row. Had a great time and caught fish.

I am going to give this 5 stars even though I thought the price was a little high. The first mate and captain were helpful knowledgeable and great fisherman. The experience of a nice day on the lake was almost enough for the price and actually catching some nice sized walleye was just a bonus.

Dropped off fish for cleaning at 3:30. Workers first stated would take 2 hours to clean. Then changed it to 3 hours. We came back to pick up fish before three hours at 5:45. The business hours say they close at 7:00. They were closed and no one was there so we could pick up our 38# of perch. This is bad business and dishonest. You stole our fish!!We spent $490 for 7 people to catch those perch. If you didnt want to clean them, you should have told us you weren't taking any more. We would have gone elsewhere. We are not local and cannot come back tomorrow to pick the fish up. We have previously done business with you but never again. AND we will pass on the word about your dishonesty so everyone knows not to trust what you say.Update 8/9/20: Sassy Sal has addressed this issue and stated they were willing to ship the fish to us at no charge and would address the problem with the staff that closed up early. Fortunately a friend was in the area and picked up the fish for us. Thank you!

Dropped our day s catch of perch off at the fish cleaning area. The guy collecting/weighing our fish was rude and frankly didn t listen to what we requested, as he dumped my fish in with another member of our group s even though we asked to have them separate. Didn t seem like a huge deal cause we could ve just split our fish after cleaning, just annoying. But, we never got our fish. He told us to come back 3 hours later (we arrived at 3:30 so we were to pick up at 6:30). They had locked up, and would not answer the phones. We live hours away, and unfortunately after hours of fishing we ended up taking 0 fish home because of their lack of communication.Very disappointing end to a great day on the water.

We scheduled them for a fishing charter. The staff were great, we just didn't catch anything. I'm sure a combination of wrong time of day, season etc. Would have been nice if they would have guided us to making a better decision on type of fishing and location. Will consider using them again, others have had good luck and fishing is no guarantee.

I've been on several head boats and this one was by far the worst. First off I drove almost 5 hours because I wanted to fish and the lake was turned up where I live. They did not tell me anything helpful on the phone the night before as far as what I needed for tackle. The guys in the shop were rude until I pulled a fat stack of cash out of my pocket. I caught one Walleye. Just a horrible trip based off my experience with them.

I went out on the sassy sal Friday September 20th 2019 . Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The trip was excellent. The Captain ( Brian) moved us several times to keep us on the fish. The boat over all caught well over fifty fish of keeper walleye. There were also occasional jumbo perch and small mouth. Many large catfish as well (5 to 1o pounders ). The first mate netted well over 100 fish during the trip plus gave many pointers to the fisherman as to how to present the baits for optimal catch rate. After returning to the dock the fish cleaners were very quick and rganized to clean the fish at a very reasonable price. It was a great day on the water.

Had a blast last week , went on the night charter for walleye, 10 of us caught40 walleye and a handful of perch. Had to go about 2 hours east but I heard the day before from other people that the walleye had moved east so I'm glad they took us there. They were spot on And worth the trip fish averaged 18-21inches biggest of the group was 23.5. Boat I believed snapped a waterpump shaft on the way back in so we had to get towed in which took a few hours but the crew handled it well and sal was waiting at the dock and held our fish in the cooler till the morning when the fish cleaning guys came in on there day off which I really appreciated. This is my 2nd time fishing with sals we caught fish the last time I recommend buying there tackle as they know whats working and want you to catch fish. A couple guys on our boat had there own lures and didn't do so well leave what works on some other lake you fish at home. Buy there tackle then leave your ego at home and listen to the first mate I've done so twice and it worked both times. Great trip can't wait to go back!! Oh yeah and I drove 10.5 hours to get there! Thanks again sassy sal

Capt Fuzz and First Mate Rob were fantasic; polite; and helpful. The boat was clean and sound; we had a rough commute out due to wind/waves which the crew accomodated best they could with the drop curtains. Once to the islands the waters were calmer and the fishing was good. The first mate was so helpful even taking and interest in helping the young teenager aboard that was not catching any to show him what bites looked and felt like and let him reel in fish. There is a restroom aboard the boat, minnows were provided, and there was plenty of space for our fishing party. Thanks for a great day Sassy Sal and crew!!

I have been out with this company well over 50 times. I have had bad days, good days now and some great days. I don't care for the the lady in the store where you get your tickets. The crews on the boats are great most of the time. I have caught small mouth bass, yellow perch, and walleye.

boat, captain & mate seem like they are qualified and know what they are doing. I probably should only give 2 stars because the day we went out the wind was pretty bad and there was no chance of getting on the fish so we were stuck wasting time around the islands getting almost no fish. they should have been honest with everyone and said we're not going to be able to do any fishing and suggest that we come back another day.

Let me tell you this right off the bat, I have fished on and owned many boats running saltwater trips and this review isn't about the fishing but the charter company as a whole. A friend and I had decided to take a trip from Virginia to Ohio to visit some of his family and take a trip out to try and catch yellow perch. We made the trip up the day before and made our way to the marina early the next morning. Upon arrival we all headed into the tackle shop and were greeted with some less than happy people with snappy answers and little patience. I had paid/received my license and promptly went to pay. Me not knowing how they run their bait operation asked what the deal was. The man told me to get a bucket and he was dipping shiners later and to which I asked, "is the mate getting the bait or am I" and to his reply you're coming and getting them. At this point I had grabbed all of my gear and brought it on board and was greeted by similarly confused people in my group about the vague bait situation, keep in mind we were supposed to run out in 15 minutes. We finally see another person bring back his bucket full of shiners so we promptly repeated the same process. Then once we get on the boat, settled, and ready to leave the mate gave his safety speech and what not it was time to run. As most party boats do he spoke to us about the $3 pot for the longest fish and he swiftly came around to collect patron's money. When he got to me he asked for my 3 Washington's and I told him I had no cash, then in a snide way remarked, "you know I work for tips right?" (Keep in mind this is far from my first rodeo and was already planning on splitting tip with my friend) so I replied with, "sure" and went on with my day. To say the least the fishing was horrid but I can't blame the captain because the conditions were in fact pretty horrid themselves but atleast some people did manage to bring in a few. The mate was bad mouthing a guy in our group because we were using braided line, I don't care who you are or how many boats you've worked on, braid is and always will be 10x better, stronger, and will lose you so many less fish then just rigging with just monofilament so shows how much he knows. The mate did absolutely nothing the whole trip, I tied most of my group's rigs up ( which are ridiculous ) while the mate was nowhere to be found and this is his job, not mine. The most, if not all, he had done was get some ice, and hand out some ice. Hope you're not so strict anymore about them tips bud because you didn't deserve mine, good luck trying to last on a saltwater boat. As for the captain I have no info for he didn't show himself or talk for the many multitudes of hours we spent hitting marks for long periods of time, in the same area with no result. So after the whole day we made it back, got our stuff off and packed our few fish and headed home and this is what I took from that trip about this charter. It's the most unorganized bunch of people trying to run a party/charter boat I have ever seen in my entire life and I recommend really any others. Don't waste money on this kind of experience.
