My wife and I stayed here the The night before and the night after the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. The hotel was full the night before, but I chose this hotel because the back property right on the shore Lake Erie was incredibly. To my surprise, there weren t even many people out there watching the eclipse even though it could have held well over a hundred. I think there were only about 20 people in total which was totally fine with me and my wife. The only thing I could really even complain about our stay was that the hot water wasn t working very good when the hotel was full the night and morning of the eclipse, but when most of the people left the hot water worked just fine. The staff were friendly, very helpful and apologetic about that one inconvenience. Their free continental breakfast was nice too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn t want to spend a lot on a room. It was definitely worth the price and if you are there for a few days on vacation, anything you need is near by.Nearby activities: Anything you could ever need during your stay is nearby. The town of Port Clinton was great and there were plenty of places to choose from to eat except most of them closed at 8pm, but it was off season. We did find a place that was open later though and surprisingly, we had an unforgettable meal. It was called Slater s Food & Spirits and it was just down the road from the hotel. I was amazed! The Perch on my wife s fish sandwich was not only delicious but the two fillets they put on this one sandwich were huge! They were so big she gave me one bless her, and not only was it hot and delicious, but I haven t seen perch fillets that big served at a restaurant or anywhere else in that fact since the early 80 s or maybe ever. Perch is my favorite fish, but I m always leery about getting it when I see them on a menu, because the fillets usually end up being so small and thin that they curl up after being fried and end up looking like a small potato chip and being just as dry. I thought I would have food regret for not ordering the Perch Dinner after seeing and tasting that one filet on my wife s sandwich, but the burger I ordered instead was one of the best I have had in a very long time. I insisted that my wife have some since she was nice enough to share her delicious Perch and she thought it was wonderful as well. Even though the portions were on thee larger side, we ate everything the food was so delicious.

Hi, I went to clinton inns because I was recommended by my friend Anna who works there. When I went into the room I was hit with a foul oder right away. But when I moved the bed sheet the smell got stronger, I almost passed out my legs got weak I tried to grab on to something but I regained my concious. Then I took a peak and the smell hit me like a punch, and there was poop stains everywhere. I went to anna and demanded for the owner, later i unfortunately discovered that the plumber was coming late and the owner really had to really use and abuse the bathroom but he did buisness under my sheets and didn't apologise. I asked for a refund and the owner tried to punch but he slipped and fell, he called the police on me but the officer could smell the evidence, I was let free but this was a life changed my life and really made me open my eyes and nose.

RUN AWAY....I repeat RUN AWAY!!!!! Don't waste your money here. Don't ignore the bad reviews and think people are just overreacting. I would drive an hour farther or spend hundreds of dollars more rather than stay here.Reserved a whirlpool room for August 10 - 13 at what I thought was a good price. (writing this review on 9/24/23 with no resolution) Figured at that price should be an okay place. As soon as I turned into the parking lot and bounced around over all the bumps I felt sick to my stomach and embarrassed I brought my wife there. Figured okay let me walk inside and check in. (Don't complete the check in until you see your room) Lobby seemed outdated but clean.Checked in and went to our room. As soon as you enter the hallway you can only smell old cigarette smoke and the perfumed carpet powder that is trying to mask the stench of very old and dirty carpet. The room was just the same. Didn't even want to sit on the bed or couch. Walked into the room looked in the bathroom and saw mold next to the vanity. Okay that was enough. Went straight back to the car, bounced our way through the pot holes back up front to go in to the front desk. Explained the situation and they acted like they were shocked.I have yet to get an answer on any refund other than we are waiting on corporate for approval of a refund. I have talked to several very professional and sympathetic people but have yet to talk to someone who has actually accomplished anything other than talking. I have sent many many emails and many many messages through their contact page on the website. Should be a crime for their lack of actions.Rooms: Absolutely run down that reek of old cigarette smoke and perfumed carpet powder which they are using to try and cover up the smell.

Please Beware - this hotel has a Flea problem. It is a Pet friendly establishment. Also beware of the hotels cancelation policy. You have to notify the hotel 72 hours in advanced to cancel. They will bill your card in advance if u try to cancel. We went to the hotel on a Friday, rooms were decent looking but had a flea problem. Noticed it when we first got there. Came down and told Liz we were not staying due to the bug problem and wanted a refund. There was a couple that came down also stating the same issue. We were told they had to contact their office by email as they did not have a phone number to contact. She stated to call them on Monday regarding refund.Maintenance man came down denying they had fleas and wanted us to show him where they were. Well that wasn't going to happenDebated us back and forth about it and had a nasty attitude. Seemed like he had more authority than Liz, the manager. Could he have been the owner??? We won't be back and don't recommend anyone else going.

This place is very undeserving of even a one star review. The location and view are the only somewhat nice thing there. The room was extremely overpriced. We originally were put into a double bed room where the bed skirt was FILTHY. There were stains all over the sheets and food under the mattress. We complained and the front desk woman had told us she was going to see what she could do for us. My partner and I no longer felt comfortable staying there and asked for a refund to which they refused and said they upgraded our room. It was a cleaner room but still was dirty. I understand it is mayfly season but our patio door had not been opened in the time we stayed and there were bugs all over our room. They upgraded us to a room that was right next to the entrance and you could hear everyone talking from the main lobby and the cleaning crew doing their laundry. I still wish we could have even gotten a partial refund because the condition of this hotel is not remotely worth the price. We paid over $200 for a one night stay and it was very disturbing. If you re thinking of booking here DO NOT. I m upset that I had to stay there and had a super hard time sleeping due to the loud noises of the AC, other people showering, the talking of the lobby, the laundry, and also the fear that what if there are bugs in my bed. I wish this place was more about customer service because we much would have rather drove two hours home than stayed in the dirty dump of a place they try to call a hotel. Front desk are friendly and accommodating but they also seem to know the place is a dump and did not seem surprised by any of my complaints. Very upsetting snd considering reporting them to the health department or better business bureau.Rooms: Extremely dirty. Both rooms. Needs updated. Horror movie like room.

I was told when booking that the room would sleep 5. Definitely did not we have to find other arrangements because they where completely booked that weekend. So when I cancelled I was not aware that I would not get any of my money back at all. The manager was very rude. When I called she hung up on me 3 times. She acted like I was a complete bother to her. It was an awful experience and I would not recommend it to anyone.

The one bad thing is no elevator. We got here and were given a 2nd floor room. When I told them we can't do stairs due to our age and knee issues, they switched us to a room on the first floor. The halls smelled clean and the carpet was cleaner than I have seen in higher priced hotels. THERE ARE NO BUGS. They appear to be upgrading as we saw new cabinets being installed in the breakfast area. Breakfast is basic with no hot food but, there is a frisch's restaurant next door. The rooms are kind of small but good for a day or two.Noteworthy details: It is right on lake erie. You can walk out the back door to a patio with seating and enjoy the lake breeze on a warm day.

We reserved a room with Clinton inn and suites. When we got into the hotel room, the horrible smell of a cleaning agent overwhelmed us both. The clerk showed us another room, and it was the same smell. It made us both nauseous. The rooms look dirty, they're small and dark and not well kept. They wouldn't give us a refund, but we're going through our bank to get it back. Don't stay here. It isn't sanitary at all!

Great location. As far as you're right on the lake. The room was horribly. Small. Was clean though. The housekeeping was friendly. Parking not the greatest. A first come first serve basis and good luck if it's near your roomFood & drinks: There's an ice cream shop right out front.

Racist POS! Instead of welcome my technicians were greeted with a you know there is a $250 deposit Then he tells them that the room was not paid for so I provided a screenshot of my business account clearly showing the charge. He then asked them to go stay somewhere else. I booked 4 other rooms in two different states with no issues.

Outside has a great view other than that room was not what we booked! When manager seen how good our rate was because we booked months in advance he switched our room! You could barely turn around in it!! Barely big enough for 2 people!! Safe did not work, light bulbs blown out, only 2 towels, carpet disgusting, no trash bags in the trash can, someone's left over bottled water still in the room, We stayed 9 yrs ago and I rated it an 8 but has went all the way down!!

VERY ACCOMMODATING!! Was a Holiday weekend & DID NOT have any reservations but worked very HARD to get us a room for multiple night! Room was clean!Came with hair dryer, microwave, fridge and balcony. Would of given 5 stars but they are still updating the premises. Staff VERY FRIENDLY!!!! Price was fairly cheap for the area. And close to the Jet Express port! Did I mention it's right on the water. We sent an entire day just sitting by lake Erie watching the sail boats. Will def use this hotel again!!! Mr Ed went above & beyond!!! Thank you for turning what could of been a nightmare holiday weekend into a very pleasant stay!!!!!!

Over priced for the quality and cleanliness of building. The pool was good right on the shore of the lake. Locks on the room was tempermental took a few swipes of the card to gain access. We had a balcony but there was bird droppings everywhere on it. Breakfast was a joke. Tried a muffin and had to toss it. Went to Bob's big boy two doors down for breakfast.

Go elsewhere!!! I stayed at Clinton Inn 6/6-6/8. I chose this hotel because of the lake view and outdoor pool.It was a horrible stay. I did not get the room I booked. I booked a 2 king bed with lake view, but was put in a 1 king, 1 double bed room with a courtyard view and was then told there weren't any lakeview rooms available. The pool wasn't usable during the stay even though it was sunny and 85 degrees. The pool was murky and dirty and the lounge chairs were stacked away. The balcony of the room had spiders with bodies the size of gumballs and they would drop down when I stepped out. The refrigerator didn't work so the front desk worker had to come and switch it out with one from another room. I discovered this hours after I had stored milk and food in it which had to then be thrown away. The toilet clogged but I was eventually able to work it out myself. A very loud group of teen boys stood in the hallway outside my room for nearly 30 minutes late on 6/7 because their room keys wouldn't work after 3 tries of going to the desk to have them reprogrammed. They were very loud again at 5:30am as they were all leaving. The paper thin walls don't keep any noise out so I didn't get good sleep. The breakfast was totally laughable, I chose another option instead. I didn't receive any housekeeping during my stay. I was disappointed to come in after a day away and not have the bed made or clean towels. No view, no pool usage, no balcony usage, no refrigerator, no housekeeping, no breakfast, and a poorly working toilet and shower. I would hardly call the place a hotel. I felt more like a squatter trying to get by in a abandoned building for a few days. I would sleep in a tent in a ditch before I stayed here again.I made the hotel staff aware of the issues. They said "sorry about that".

This place isn t all that. When you first walk in it is dark, cold, and kinda sketchy. When I checked in, they didn t ask me for an ID, the bathroom is small, there were 4 towels and only one was clean. The other 3 either a hair, stain, or blood or red lipstick on it.One of the beds had a grease stain on the head board, it is dusty and the windows are not clean. The room is really small, when I mean small I mean one bed is against the wall to where if two people were laying there, they would have to get over the first person laying there. The beds are supposed toBe full size but it looks like a twin size bed, the floors look half vacuumed, there was a dime under my bed the first day and it was there after they cleaned, the showers don t work, mosquitos are in the roomThe breakfast was ok, all they had were waffles, juice, oatmeal, coffee, tea, and cereal. The waffles looked done but tasted chewy. The cereal is stale. The juice descender doesn t even work. Some of the keys don t work, it may seem like a nice place from the outside, BUT it isn t good on the inside., some family said the doors don t lock from the outside, there are dead bugs in her roomI feel like the doors don t lock from the outside.DO NOT STAY HERE1 star

We came here with family for a vacation despite the bad reviews. I think it's a decent little hotel. It doesn't have the frills of other hotels but it doesn't have the price tag either. We stayed in the apartment that overlooks the lake. It was clean and the manager gave me more towels when I needed them. He even gave me some trash bags to put my wet beach clothing in.

They don t even deserve one star! This place is so nasty!!! Beyond disgusting. The bugs. The dirt. The dead fish on the main patio by the lake. The dirt and debris caked on the furniture. Did I mention bugs of all species? Spider webs in literally every corner. Exposed wires throughout the entire hotel. I took pictures and videos. Then the bill comes and they charged us almost $400 MORE than the price on the website. It s turning into a legal matter. Please save yourself the nightmare and go literally anywhere else. It was so bad one family was sleeping in their car after coming back from cedar point about midnight and finding bed bugs. They had no where to go at that time of night and they were double charged so didn t have a lot of money for another hotel. How is this place still open? Filthy dirty thieves. The old man that works there lives in one room and was stumbling around. He yelled at one lady outside because she upset about the dirty room she had. How awful to treat people this way when this is clearly a place people stay for vacation.

Great location and is pet freindly BUT overpriced for what you get! Pet fee is per pet per night, hallway had musty smell, beds and pillows sucked!! So called continental breakfast stinks. Double beds felt like twin size and too soft mattress and pillows. Shower was ok. Needed new shower head. Will not be back!! Had stayed here three times before this trip and had no problems but not this time .

Great location if you're going to Put In Bay. Unfortunately, I booked this room on Expedia and once I got there. They charged me an extra $100 stating they were overbooked.Nearby activities: The Jet Express is only 4 miles away

Where do I start? Do not stay here! We booked online, showed up and went to our room which was infested with ants and BED BUGS! The front desk person was really nice, refunded us and we left without thankfully even bringing in our bags. A couple weeks later I look at my credit card statement and the charge and refund were on there but so was an extra $433 and $171 charge. I called to try and get it fixed and the general manager called me back. It escalated to her because it "seems like this has been going on for a while." I told her what happened and she said she wasn't going to refund my money because the exterminators who came on Monday (I booked for Thursday/Friday night) didn't see any evidence of bed bugs. We saw some People in the room right after we left who must have cleaned everything or been totally blind because there were carcases everywhere and we even saw a couple live ones on the pillow and comforter. Since they say they didn't find anything on Monday they just charged my account, never talked to me or anything. Now I have to dispute it with my credit card company. I was nice and pleasant until now. I should have ran out of there screaming that the place had bedbugs. I should have taken a video of the one I saw crawling on the pillow. The only pic my husband got was a kind of blurry one of the larvae. The general manager said she couldn't stop me from writing a bad review and was not going to refund me ...not a good choice.

Price was okay for being right on the water. The hotel was definitely overhyped and under par. I was lead to believe we would have a king bed which was a queen at best and a double bed room, pillows were small throw size pillows, and very uncomfortable. Very tiny fridge, carpet coming up in some sections, uneven floors, had to be careful with bathroom door and room door not latching closed, and there was no security latch. There was no elevator to the second floor and the stairs were extremely steep, so be prepared if you have mobility issues or plan to bring a lot of luggage. The staff we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. Any needs we had they did their best to accomodate. We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights and never had our rooms serviced. When we first arrived we didn't have washcloths and had to ask for fresh towels. The pool was open when we went but looked a bit cloudy and smelled heavily of chlorine.Breakfast is nonexistent. They had orange juice, coffee, and individually wrapped snack cakes. When I was told continental breakfast I thought there might be some cereal, fruit, something. But these were snack cakes...

The gentlemen at check in was very helpfull, warm and welcoming. The hotel needs some definite work though. There was obvious structural damage to the building on site/grounds in multiple areas. It could be a really lovely place again with some TLC. The view of the lake from the patio was lovely the grounds, rooms and building just needs some renovation and repair. Definitely was not what we were expecting from the photos provided on Expedia. The bathroom in our room looked like it was recently remodeled and was clean but the room overall was a little rough.

We were deeply disappointed in our stay here. We booked a 2-night stay as part of our 25th-anniversary celebration in Port Clinton and Put-in-Bay. It was a disaster from the very beginning. As soon as we walked into the room, the first thing I saw was spiders - everywhere. Not just in the corners, but all over the place! As someone who has a severe fear of spiders (yes, I know it's irrational), I almost couldn't enter the room. Tried to call the front desk, but the phone was not working, so I went to the front desk (in an effort to get out of there) and was told that she would send housekeeping right over to get rid of the spiders. That never happened. My husband killed as many as he could find, but I spent the rest of the time in the room wondering if there were more that I didn't see.In addition to the spiders, there was mold on the shower curtain, the whirlpool tub was cracked, the bathroom sink was broken, there was mold on the toilet paper dispenser, the phone didn't work (as mentioned), and the security lock on the door didn't work. What we did like was that the staff that we encountered were very courteous and friendly and the lake view was beautiful. We actually sat outside to watch the sunset on our first night there. This was actually our only night because I couldn't make myself stay there any longer after waking to see even more spiders. We checked out that morning and will not be back.

Starting with going to our apartment, the stairs were disgusting. Worn stained carpet, sticky railing. At the top of stairs was an overflowing garbage can which was still there when we left. In our unit, there was a Used sheet hanging out from under the sofa bed. There was a dirty sock on the shelf in the bedroom. The windows and outside patio walls were covered with Mayflies which maybe was unavoidable, but looked like no effort was made to clean them up. There were at least 5 live Mayflies inside the unit. The grandkids were petrified of them. The carpets were old and stained. We couldn t walk on them barefoot. The wall around the A/C was dirty and peeling. I went right away to the desk to tell them we were leaving, but was told they couldn t refund my money because the manager wasn t there till next morning. Had to stay since I didn t want to loose my money. When I checked out I told the manager of our issues, but she offered no compensation or discount. I hated this place. It felt and looked dirty. Would not recommend. Plus, the included breakfast was a tiny wrapped plain muffin and coffee. Granted, it was during COVID, but there could have been more choices. Juice, Milk for kids, water, cereal. The view of Lake Erie was The only nice thing about it.

Friendly staff. Nice location. Room was dirty (hair in sink, toilet was filthy with urine and you could tell it hadnt been cleaned in a while. Sink and tub were filthy dirty.) The beds were made but after seeing the quick clean job to make the room appear clean I checked the beds. One bed was OK but the other was an old mattress that was hideous and stained all different colors. The whole place just has that musty old smell than an old dirty place has. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. This place is OK for a quick rest if there's nothing else available (was my case) but I don't recommend it otherwise.

Hotel has bed bugs! The prices are awesome, the rooms are big, and the views are great. That does not make up for the fact that the rooms have bed bugs, and the front desk didn't even apologize or offer any assistance besides letting us know that they will be notifying maintenance. I only stayed one night, and didn't know there was bed bugs until the morning that I was leaving, so them notifying maintenance know didn't help me out any.
