Had a transmission put in my Chevy suburban in February of 2022 it failed with in 45 days. Replaced under warranty. The new one Failed 17 months later in August of 2023. 5,000 miles over their 30,000 warranty. Dozens of Companies sell rebuilt trans for less money with 100,000 warranties. There is no reason custom transmissions should be in businesses. Don t be a fool like me !Service: Transmission

Have a Chevy Volt that needed the STATOR BEARING replaced inside the CVT. The dealer wanted $1400 labor for the job!I saved 40% going here and the car is again quiet. MOST SHOPS will be clutching their pearls but this shop is willing to learn and increase their capabilities.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience at Custom Trans. I needed a completely new rear differential and Chris and his team went above and beyond to make it an easy process. Even with the piece I needed on national backorder, he was able to locate a unit for me. It alleviated so much stress and saved me from being without a car until the new year. Communication was on point, as Chris kept me incredibly updated. I am so glad I found Custom Trans and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for car services.

Chris and his team are the most professional and thorough transmission specialists. My girlfriends 94 Toyota runs like it's brand new. I would refer these gentlemen to anybody who needs any kind of service done to their vehicle.I would send my Mom's car there!

Custom Trans was recommended by my boss and I work close by so gave them a try on my last brake job. Very satisfied with their service and price. I usually hop around to different places to get my oil changed for the 19.95 specials but will now be letting Custom Trans handle all my mechanical needs. I would rather pay more for an oil change/tire rotation and have it done by the same mechanic that will handle the heavy lifting and my scheduled maintenance.

We have been dealing with Custom Transmission and the owner Chris, for over 25 years now and they are not only exceptionally good at what they do, they are both professional and friendly while doing it!!. It is so nice now a days to find a business that honestly does place customer satisfaction at the top of their list. While the name of the shop is officially "Kustom Transmission", they do excellent general mechanical work as well as transmissions. Overall I would highly recommend them for any type of mechanical work you might need on any type of vehicle. You will get a great repair @ a fair price along with the fact that they stand behind their work. They are honest with you about what is truly needed now, and will advise you if there any issues that may become a problem in the near future. We recently had to have a new engine put in my car and there were problems with the engine. Chris kept it an extra day because he did not like how it sounded or ran. When he let me have it back, he did advise me of what the issues were and what to do. Then after driving it for 600 miles, the issues were less, but still there and now a cylinder was misfiring. So Chris had a new replacement engine installed at no cost to us. In addition he worked with us to time the 2nd engine installation to when $ was available for some additional work we wanted done while the engine was out and how to keep it at the shop for as few days as possible. We have also had various transmission work done here over the years and it was always done exceptionally well at a fair price. A big plus is that most of the mechanics there are "old timers"; as there is very little turnover among his employees which speaks volumes about Chris and the shop!! They also do great general and custom engine and transmission work on performance or classic cars. It's hard to find people who are both competent and like working on those older engines and transmissions and bonus they don't charge you an arm and a leg for it either!!

I took my 1999 Acura in to have my transmission rebuilt and although there were some issues with some faulty parts, Chris the owner was very proactive of calling me and keeping me informed of everything. The transmissions on my vehicle were very troublesome and Chris took the problems I had and was able to troubleshoot them and cleary communicate to me what the issues where. I had the transmission from hell and he spent way more time than normal but he made sure everything was perfect including fixing issues with the idlle and transmission settings resetting everytime the car was started that probably existed before I brought it in , Chirs was always available when you called and even forwarded calls to his cell phone on the evening and weekends. I never write or post reviews but becasue of all the extra service Chris did for me I felt obigated to do so. This is a very reputable shop and they actually rebulid the transmissions at the shop rather than bring in transmissions that someone else rebuilt. Thank you Chris for all the extra effort!

So I had my transmission done at Custom Trans almost 3 years ago. It's a 2006 Dodge 3500. I use it for work and tow a trailer. I went with Custom Trans at the time because they had a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. So last week I noticed the transmission temp light came on while hauling my trailer so I called Chris at the shop and he told me to bring it in and have them take a look at it. So as I was dropping off my vehicle I knew there was only 1,000 miles left on my warranty and I expected it to have a problem being covered under warranty. I dropped it off on a Monday and Chris said he would call me and give me an update once he found out what was wrong and it was Tuesday afternoon and I didn't hear from him so I called and he told me my truck would be ready tomorrow morning so I asked him how much it was going to cost and I was shocked when Chris told me "it's covered under warranty, we took care of it." I wrote this review because I thought they would find a reason to not cover it under warranty, almost 3 years later. I would highly recommend Custom Trans because they stand behind their work.

Needed to replace the transmission in my Acura. I saw some good reviews and read about their warranty (3 years or 36,000 miles) so I took my car here.They rebuilt the transmission and returned my car within a couple days. It drove smoothly for the next year until I was driving back from columbus one day and my car started smoking, transmission fluid everywhere. I called Custom Trans and was able to talk to a person even on a sunday night. I got my car towed there and they evaluated it the next day.I was concerned that they would not honor the warranty as some of the language states "if the issue is caused by leakage or failure of a different component it is not covered." Custom Trans called me back and told me the issue was caused by a break of the hydraulic motor mount which caused the motor to pierce the solenoid and leak the transmission fluid, ruining the transmission. It would need another full rebuild.Being that it was not a failure of the transmission itself, this clearly didnt sound like it would be covered. Instead Custom Trans told me that they would honor the warranty even though it was not their fault, saving me over $2500. I paid a reasonable amount to have the motor mount replaced and they covered a full new transmission rebuild.If you need a transmission rebuild, Custom Trans is the place to go. I never write reviews but they definitely deserve a 5 star review for how they took care of me.

They want to rip you off got a quote from these guys for over 500 dollars on a job I was quoted 170 -200 max on all the other shops I called.. 60 dollar part 30 min job and the guy I was talking to got mad and asked why I called there after getting quotes elsewhere

Been going to Chris for years one of their first customers and best trans place in Ohio made the mistake and took it to bruce/ butcher transmission I was in a hurry and Chris was going on vacation. .....what a mistake that was.......as soon as I can save enough I will have custom trans fix it the right way.......it leaks now , vibrates at highway speeds, jumps out of first gear every now and then total disaster transmission by Bruce butchers

I've known the owners for a long time ever since I used to drive tow truck and brought cars in there.
