Very sketchy business. I'll admit they had every right to tow me, I was parked illegally. but a lot of people have mentioned how they only take cash and how that's most likely to price gouge broke college students who don't carry cash, because most businesses on campus are cashless. I walked 45 minutes from the Southside of campus only to find out that they were closed and do not take card. I called the number on their door and the person who picked up suggested I use the ATM at the gas station by the freeway exit, and he would arrive at the impound in 15 minutes. So I had to walk another 20 minutes, AND the guy passed me in his truck while I was walking there. We made eye contact, I tried to wave him down, it was pretty obvious who I was. He very easily could have offered a ride but instead he wasted both his time and my own time. They clearly do not have any care for the people they're scamming. He charged over $200 dollars for holding my car for probably less than 4 hours. If you guys are gonna be disgusting business owners, at least install an ATM in your own building so you don't end up waiting an extra 40 minutes for whichever college kid you're scamming to get their cash for you. Seriously avoid these people at all costs.

Tonight i locked my keys in my car, Curtis towing missed my call & called me right back to help me get in my car & i can tell you they are way cheaper than Athens towing & recovery. The guy I spoke to on the phone with tonight was very polite and If I ever need to call a tow place again, it will be Curtis towing.

Absolutely terrible service! Shop smelled like stale cigarettes and piss. Employees looked like they had been on heroin for 20+ years, would not recommend to anyone!

Joe from this company was extremely helpful and it only costed me $44 to get my car unlocked because I left my key in there! He also had cool lights under the bottom of his car, so his customer service was awesome!

They absolutely KNOW no one at OU has cash and that s exactly why they ONLy accept cash! Was told it would be 65 to drop my car right there but I didn t have cash , so it went from 65.00 to 130.00 ! Will tell ya though , they have a hell of a set up, money maker , knowing nowhere at OU takes cash ! wouldn t call them if my life depended on it !

This company is a complete rip-off. I've being using towing companies for my trucks for many of years. The guy who pulled the truck out knew the price was ridiculous himself because he asked are you ready for almost a thousand dollars. He changed the price after quoted a different price. I cannot believe companies like this are still around. I am contacting the BBB.

Car broke down while staying in Athens and needed a tow to the dealership. Excellent price, guy came right away and all went smoothly. (Edit: I ve seen some reviews talk about a maximum rate in Ohio? We were charged less than that. The other local service, Howard, was a call service in India that quoted us $280 for 4.8 miles that they rounded up to 6. Your mileage may vary, but I m very pleased with the service.)

I have never used this business and I m glad I m never going to. My girlfriend has recently sent her car to Curtis Towing to be fixed and they fixed a couple of small things in her car and over charged a total of $800. She got her car back and 2 days later her car broke down while driving it and they were suppose to check everything in the car as what she requested but they didn t clearly do that. She has a car in visitor parking lot with a parking pass on it and they illegally towed her car last night and they only ask for cash. So I recommend trying another towing service.

This business has poor customer service, they towed my friend even thought he had a parking pass at the summit? Learn to read, please.

I really wish I could give this company no stars at all.I actually spoke with the owner of this company because the price the driver charge was crazy. When I told him $890 was to much for what he did he said he would have the owner call me.When the owner did call me I told him that price is inflation and you are not right for this. His response to me was basically you are a cheap S.O.B who doesn't want to pay while he put me on hold to talk to someone about how they trying to over charge him for work there do for him on his house lol. Then he started to threaten me about calling the state highway patrol telling them I ran out on a bill which was not true.Just simply told him if he was going to charge me that much I when i ask him i would have never used his service.I don't like him he started to tell me how he has cancer and how im doing him wrong.Never again will i use this company i could say a lot more but getting mad the more i think about it!

The front desk lady was kind enough to let me keep my car there for the weekend until I could get AAA to get my car. She said that once I pay the tow fee there will be no more charges, that they would look at my car, FREE OF CHARGE unless there was something I asked them to fix. I came to get my car on the day she asked, and was asked to come inside. With that, she told me I owed almost $100 for them looking at my car, finishing it with and we let you keep your car here. She was clearly trying to find reasons to charge me. I obviously wasn t happy about it and she laughed at me as I exited the building. These people are extremely inconsiderate, money doesn t grow on trees, scamming college students is a low point in life. I would be bitter if I had to work at a tow company too, but show some respect and honesty! Don t trust a word these people tell you, they will try to find any reason to take money from you.

This is a trolling tow company just trying to take advantage of college students. Towed a car parked in visitor spot that the apartment complex didn t even ask for and many residents are unaware a pass in needed. I hope you feel good about trolling and taking advantage of young adults. Get your morals straight and help people rather than hurting them. Also, requires cash hmmm why is that? For tax reporting purposes? Illegal and absolutely rude.

This company is scamming college students, the very students who are supporting the community. My son was towed from the lot where he lives. He had a parking pass and his vehicle was registered for that lot. The lady on the phone was very rude to my son when he asked her if he could get in his car to show them his pass was in fact on display, and told him for $200 he could do just that. It s a crime that they are towing legally parked and registered cars from these students, and something needs to be done about it.

I Saw Curtis towing approach my vehicle, when I ran up I was told I needed to give up $130 cash or he was taking my car and it would be $180 at the lot.A- Curtis towing does not set those prices PUCO does.B- A drop charge should have been $65 and I legally have a credit option there, they can t demand cash.C- max Initial lot Price is set at $156.95 if it goes back to the lot. So again making up there own prices, probably poaching various parking lots (as I had only been parked for 15-20 min in this empty lot) and strong arming the college community

We were traveling to North Carolina when our pickup decided it would go no further at 1 am. Tried to get four other shops to look into the problem only to be told no room or time available for us. Called Curtis s and was welcome by a friendly voice and a yes to checking the truck out. Arrived shortly after 8 am, chatted with the employees and enjoyed a cup of coffee. The truck was checked out needing new plugs and a coil, a three hour fix that will put us back on the road today. God is good, and so is Curtis Auto Repair & Towing.

illegal towing. Brand new car, was trying to put my parking pass into my vehicle when i was approached and told my car was being towed bc i didn't have a pass. ( was in my hand as i sat inside my car) was told if i didn't want to be towed i had to hand him $130 in cash that moment. He hooked up my vehicle and towed it with the parking pass hanging in the window. I called the office was told now it was $180 cash to come get my car, had a friend drive me. Got into an argument with the guy because my pass was in my window and was told that now it was going to be $200 to get my car out.

They charged me $243 when they towed my car. They don't make change, and they require you to pay in cash. The legal limit as per the ohio revised code is $90. Do with that information what you will. I'm assuming these good reviews are a fake from all the hate I've heard from basically anyone that has used them for car repair or has actually been towed by them.

The people at this place are absolute white trash. They treated us with so much disrespect. It cost $256 for us to retrieve two vehicles that had been towed and they accepted cash only and only gave us 20 minutes to come up with the money (in cash!) before they were leaving for the night . The business smells like cigarettes and you can tell they aren t clean people. I d like to know where all the money goes and why they accept cash only! WHITE TRASH.

Awesome service for my 2006 VW Jetta. They were very honest and able to do my repair work for 1/4 of the price I was going to be charged at VW dealership. I WILL be returning for any future repair work.***I'd encourage those reading these reviews (as I did) to keep in mind the derogatory remarks made are likely from angry individuals that were parked illegally and towed. (Which is no fault of Curtis Towing.)

Curtis Towing Company is the staple of a terrible business. I am a 2 year resident of River Park apartments in Athens, Ohio. Within these two years I have had my vehicle towed without warning twice. On both occasions I had a valid parking pass visible. This company is fraudulent and deserves to be shut down. They are only open 5 days a week (8-5) and only accept cash as a form of payment. This is absurd, and I urge everyone never to use their services.

I dunno about the two negative reviews here but the experience I had was far different. Had an awesome response time and the guy that came to help get my wheel off was probably one of the friendliest strangers I've ever met. Will definitely recommend to anyone with car trouble.

If you can avoid speaking on the phone to the people here, do it. I have NEVER dealt with someone at Curtis who is even moderately capable of handling my request without spewing some sort of illiterate explanation for why they are "too busy" to do so. This is really your only option for towing in Athens. Good luck.

I've seen many reviews already speaking of this. 130 dollars for him not to tow or 180 at the lot. Strong arming, demanding cash. Still $130 because he "already moved our car " a few inches to the left. This company is a thorn in our community just as prokos is.

Athens city ordinance code 7.05.03 no towing charge shall be above $50 effective Jan 1, 2002. Maximum towing fee in the state of Ohio is $90. They repeatedly charge every tow $180 or more. This is an illegal business. That pricing does not change whether it's a tow on city property or private property, always $180. I would not even pay this business for a personal tow you may end up in a bad situation. Legal charges need to be brought against this company, but Athens police do not care nor will they pursue as it is illegally making them money. I have never been towed but I've done research and I've seen people that live here who have.

This company towed my car, and they were negligent and banged up my back side! They were rude and called me a smart ass. They are ignorant and racist. I will be pursuing further actions. DO NOT USE THEM EVER! they are the lowest of the low. Pure trash.

The driver was very kind during that frustrating morning. Thank you. And no the garage has not made anything right yet on that issue.
