Being from out of town, my vehicle wouldn't start and needed to be towed to a shop. With my family's limited time and extreme urgency for leaving the next day, Bratten Auto answered my phone call and accepted my truck late on a Friday afternoon. Not only were they able to get my truck running the very next morning, but Ryan and the crew were extremely helpful and professional throughout the ordeal. We highly recommend Braaten Auto for their knowledge and customer service, they were life savers on this occasion. Thanks again!

I wish I could rate this higher, Ryan at the front desk was very nice. They fixed my vehicle in a timely manner and so far I m pleased with the work. However the transparency that I received on my bill was anything but satisfactory. Ryan told me the part was around $1000 so i told him I would go online and see if I could find it cheaper.(same part and part #) he said by doing this they couldn t warranty the part or service, I said that was fine. After receiving my bill I saw labor was $200 an hour opposed to $145. When asking Ryan about that, he told me shop rate is higher for outside parts which was never discussed with me. At 7.5 hrs of labor is an extra $412 so the money I saved on the part I ordered is down the drain and now I have no warranty on the job done for pretty much the same price I would ve paid if they ordered the same OEM part. If this would have been discussed with me I would ve just had them order all parts and paid same price but with a warranty.Service: Transmission

Recently had an older domestic car into Braaten's north location. Had recently had an oil change at one of the big dealerships in town that informed me I had an axle seal failing amongst other things on their checklist. The manager at Braaten's (Ryan) was very upfront with me and explained that there was a small weeping of the seal. However that given the age of the car, and the very minor nature of the leak, that it wasn't a necessary repair at the moment and to just continue monitoring it every so often. It most likely will be a non-factor for the remaining life of the car. He could have done the expensive seal repair and I would have been none the wiser but instead i just had a few dollars of routine maintence. Braaten's gained a new customer as after this visit, if they tell me something is needed, I will trust that it's actually needed. I fully recommend them.

The mechanics at this shop are excellent. They ve provided incredible service at a reasonable price unlike many other mechanics in town. I intend on exclusively utilizing their service moving forward. 10/10.

Only place that actually took the time to discuss options besides ordering online and giving off the energy of they hated the fact I even asked them to do what their job required. When I popped into Braaten s shop it was personable didn t feel like just another company taking my money without the acknowledgment we are both humans.Appreciate you Ryan!Thank you for helping out in a very timely manner. When I was on the verge of giving up.The fact all these places advertise tires and rims yet don t have anything in stock or even sell rims.

I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser that is getting up there in miles. A clunking rotational noise started a year ago and would come and go. I took it to Rydell Toyota several times to at least identify the issue. They had my vehicle for two days on multiple occasions. When I went to pick it up they told me there was no sound. The moment I drove off the lot it was there. Long story short- they ended up cutting off part of a heat shield. The sound seemed to lessen and then it did eventually disappear. However, periodically it would come back. I read a bunch of forums and thought I must need new heat shields so I set up an appointment with the dealership again. But at this point the sound had gotten to a terrifying level. I called Braaten s and asked if there was any way they could see my vehicle that morning. They told me to come right away and they d squeeze me in. Within one hour they identified the problem- my parking brake housing (I think that was what they said it was) had broken apart somehow and was causing the awful noise. They solved the problem for me in one go! Toyota- who are supposed to be the FJ experts- never found the reason, ruined my heat shield, and charged me more than $1000 to waste my time. I even had to rent a car for them to diagnose my problem overnight. Braaten s charged me 10% that amount and not only fixed my problem- they gave me peace of mind. I will never go anywhere else. Had my radiator and front end replaced. Took multiple months to complete. Have have had over heating problems a month later. Passenger fog light keep popping out. Passenger side bumper is out of place. Will not have them fix the problems. Had a professional business repair it. I guess that's what you get when a insurance claim is involved.

They did a fantastic job of getting my car in to be seen. Also they were able to diagnose and fix my issue including the parts for under $100, they also told me how to fix another issue. The waiting room is decent and the chips and pop are a HUGE plus. Will be coming back. I bet they saved me well over $100 compared to the usual dealership for the same repairs.

We had just moved our son to UND from Iowa City. On Saturday the serpentine belt tore off. We were planning on making our 9 hour journey back to Iowa that Monday in order to get our other kids back in time for their first day of school. Since it was the weekend we could not get it fixed. All we could do is hope we could find a shop willing to squeeze us in early Monday. Someone recommended Braaten s. We called Monday morning and they were booked for the day but after hearing our dilemma they squeezed us in. They were friendly and eager to help us out. They were able to fix our belt and we were on the road in no time. I can t thank these guys enough. These guy s truly care about their customers and you can tell they enjoy what they do. I have been taking my vehicles to Braaten's for years and have had excellent service every time. I have a rather large fleet of personal vehicles and they have done an excellent job maintaining and repairing them (several of my vehicles are nearly or over 20 years old). I have had great prices from them but more importantly, I would get my vehicles back really quickly. Having heard horror stories of shops "repairing" a vehicle for over two weeks I appreciate the quickness of their work. I also appreciate that when I come in with a problem they fix it right the first time. I have taken my vehicles to them for years and will continue to do so for many more.

Beware! Only get oil changes from this company. Their mechanics will misdiagnosed problems to cause upcharges to the customer and delays in repair work.While trying to get my air conditioner recharged and fixed in my vehicle. They replaced a hose for the ac unit. I picked up my car (400+ for that repair)and drove home when I realized the ac was not blowing cold air. I had to bring it back to them an hour after picking it up, and they replaced another part of tha ac. (150+ for 2nd repair) When I picked up my vehicle the second time the ac was working fine. I drove for 2 weeks and the cold air stopped again. I brought it back into their south end location, being the north end had already tried twice and didn't fix the problem. They found another leak and want 500+ to fix it a third time. Which I declined because they could not answer whether this was the original problem-not the hose they replaced-nor why they didn't see and fix this the first, or second time they had my car.They had my vehicle for several days and where still unable to fix the problem. Seems that their is no management checking on the work of the the mechanics, and mechanics that don't care about getting a job done rite the first time.They know you'll have to bring your vehicle back again.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto A/C recharge, Auto A/C replacement, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning, Oil change

Hands down the best experience! I called and talked to Brandon about my daughter having vehicle issues. She is currently working in a critical access hospital in North Dakota. Prior to taking this assignment she was hit at and intersection in our home town near Omaha. The body repair shop performed the repairs. Somehow the engine oil filter was crushed and leaking oil. She noticed her car was not acting right, but was hours away from any repair shop. She drove to this location and they quickly got her car evaluated, completed a thorough check over to make sure she had no issues and she was on the road timely! These guys are awesome. Being semi-knowledgeable about cars (no expert), I let them know what I believed was wrong with my car. They didn t even charge me to have someone ride with me to figure out the problem and had it done in less than 2 hours on a busy day! I tried with one of the bigger guys and they were going to do an extensive check of the vehicle for $120 per hour (ridiculous because I told them the issue). In the end, my truck was running better than when I bought it for about a third of the price that I was expecting. No hassling, no unexpected costs. If you want your car done right, bring it to Braatens!

Had a coolant leak on my Caddy. Called for an appointment and got in right away. They found the water pump was bad and replaced it along with some associated repairs. Excellent work, timely and inexpensive. Great job guys and thank you.

Craig and the boys at Braaten's run a truly professional business. With little time available, I left them a message after hours and they returned my call FIRST thing in the morning. 3 other shops did not call back until mid-day if at all. I'm no car expert, but they treated me like an adult and were both patient and friendly as I explained my problem. Every question I had was answered plainly and with detail, and not once did they try to sell me something I didn't need. They quoted an accurate cost and completed work inside of a couple hours. My car runs perfectly again and I left happy to have done business with a hard-working, honest, local company! Braaten's is by far the best auto shop I've visited, and they will have my exclusive business as long as I'm in Grand Forks. Well done, guys!

Took my truck in because I was having issues with my brakes. When I got my truck back I kept have issues the the price they quoted me to fix the issue was more than the gmc dealership. However I do have to give them some praise for having a quick turnaround time

While en route from Winnipeg to Rochester our car started to make weird noises. A peek under the hood revealed a piece of plastic had come loose.There was no question it had to be fixed. As we limped our way to Grand Forks, I googled auto repair shops of which there were several choices. Surveying the reviews I chose Braaten s Quality Auto because the comments were so positive.And for good reason! Braaten s not only took our car in right away but also invited us into their office to wait for the repair to be completed. We were back on the road in no time.We highly recommend Braaten s. Their quality service and friendly attitude deserve the excellent rating they have earned.

We were getting the run around from another garage about fixing our Subaru Tribeca for months and spending money and over fist trying to fix the issue. We finally decided to leave and try and new garage and we tried Braaten on a recommendation. I couldn't be happier with the service they provide. They take amazing care of your vehicle and do the job right the first time. They are always so timely with the repairs and the pricing is more than fair. Leroy and the rest of the gang are astounding and polite. I don't trust anyone else in grand forks with my cars.

On time and fair price. Great customer service . As an update... on Nov 18 2021 a "tire pressure loss detected" icon lit upas I was getting ready to drive to Fargo. Traveling cross country and our water pump went out. Stopped in and they had us on our way in less than 2 hours. Customer service at the front desk was great and the mechanic/shop owner was awesome and understanding about us wanting to get back on the road. Would def recommend to anyone!

Hello Craig,I just wanted to thank you and I Kevin for the outstanding service on getting my truck into your shop on short notice for a Tuesday morning when we were stranded on I-29 heading back to Winnipeg with my Dodge 3500 with the electrical issue.When we were at the Flying J travel centre and I was in the restaurant asking a table to guys who would they recommend that I call to have my truck towed to one of the men said to give you a call and it was the best decision I made.You guys are truly the experts in town for the electrical problem I had and I was told that you are more of an expert than the big dealerships.Also thank you for not taking advantage of me being stranded and getting us back on the road as the two hours of labour to me was more than fair as the truck was in your shop for at least four hours.Thanks again and I would recommend your shop to anyone in Grand Forks, ND

My fiance and I broke down in North Dakota on our way to Canada for a wedding, and found great reviews for Braaten's. We went in that afternoon to find out what was wrong, and Craig looked at the car (needed a new water pump) and gave us a fair estimate. He had the part ordered and in by the next morning, and we were back on the road a few hours later. What really struck us was Craig's willingness to fit us into his already-packed schedule, and how understanding he was of our time-sensitive situation. This is a stand-up establishment run by an honest crew and we highly recommend them!!

Best auto service I have ever received. I had a motor mount break in my Tahoe. Most places quoted me about triple what these guys did. Their prices can't be beat and their customer service is amazing. Craig is great to deal with! If you need anything done to a vehicle, you are crazy to go anywhere else!!!

Tyler and his crew are awesome. I had my vehicle towed from Walmart on a Friday night and they were already trying to work on it the next morning which they were closed at their south south location. Monday morning they whipped through it finding a bad alternator. They did it so fast I was able to get my car that same day. Would definitely recommend to others.

It was hot & humid, the A/C was not working on my minivan. LeRoy made an appointment for me for a day away. When I arrived, they took my van right in. I even added on an oil change, and they still had it finished quickly. Their waiting room was pleasant with comfortable seating, a clean restroom & interesting magazines to read. The staff were pleasant & friendly. Best of all, the A/C is ice cold!

Been taking my beat-up old car here for about a year now, and I've been very happy with their service. Just today, they serviced my malfunctioning A/C, and without my even asking, they didn't charge me for it. They'd done the same thing last year, and as they couldn't find the source of the leak, they treated it as part of the same work. They may have lost a bit of money on that work today, but they gained a loyal customer! Well, more loyal, anyway.Bonus: they usually finish the work sooner than I expect.
