Continued ExcellenceFor the several years I have relied upon WMW for maintaining my vehicles I continue to be impressed with their service. My records are on file and my periodic appointments are dispatched in a timely fashion. On the rare occasions that I have a question or concern, it is resolved immediately.

They lost/stole my wheel lock. Car had not been serviced since we were there last year. I called them and asked for them to comp my new one. Receptionist swore up and down it couldn't have been them. The receptionist Lisa heard my story, said "are you done?" and then hung up on me. Guys I spent two grand on service and tires at your place own up to this. Spent all afternoon driving to a dealership that had a wheel key in stock. Attached photo of the service tag you stuck to my door jamb.

My parents mini was diagnosed by mini in raleigh that it needed a body control module. I called around and this place was the only place that could program the new module in Wilmington. After talking to them on the phone we agreed that they would diagnose the body control module and replace, this way, with their diagnosis, we would have a warranty with them. The car was dropped off. The next day we got a call that the car needed 10000 dollars of work. It was a high mileage mini, but 90% of the work had nothing to do with the body control unit. We spoke very specifically that we just wanted the body control unit replaced only. Then, when the work was declined, the car magically wouldn't start and the car needed To be towed home. This place is preying upon people that have no other choice. The new body control unit was never even attempted to be installed. The test is very simple and takes a few minutes to do. In fact, the notes on the estimate had the test on it first, then they spent hours trying to milk as much money as they could out of this when we spoke on the phone. This is the second time they have seen the car in one year, and the first estimate they gave us had the same problems. It was all timing chains, oil pump, etc. As of right now, the timing system is still In tact, and the oil pump still works within mini specs. Long story short, and its only my opinion, i wouldnt trust them. I've seen many shady auto repair facilities. These people top the cake.

I ve been going to them for about 5/6 years now, never been completely satisfied with service but didn t know where else to take my car. Now for sure I will be looking for a new place no matter what. Took my car in for headlight repair when I got my car back my right bmw kidney grill was being held in place by tape. I know for a fact it was perfectly fine before. Of course it fell out somewhere along the way. IF YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS TO TAKE YOUR CAR, DO IT!

I have been taking my cars to Wilmington Motor Works over the last ten years. They are very good at giving you an honest diagnosis on your vehicle, and having your vehicle ready to go as scheduled. They also make it very convenient to pick your car up after hours. Great business relationship.

Our family has used WMW for many years now. Recently, my engine was making a whirring noise. I received a quick response to my text, saying I could swing by for a brief look. Upon arrival it was discovered I was lucky the broken pulley system hadn t left me on the side of the road. The needed parts were in stock, and they were kind enough to work my repair in that Friday afternoon.

A terrible shop. I would not recommend them to anyone; especially N54 owners. I'm just now seeing the shortcuts that shouldn't have been taken before on my 2007 335i Coupe. For example, this shop had done the front crank seal and valve cover gasket. When inspecting the motor, the injector bracket was placed in incorrectly and the front crank seal was stuck way too far in the engine. The injector bracket is related to the job as it had been removed when doing the valve cover gasket. The bracket had been put in incorrectly, and the decouplers and seals weren't replaced. This can cause the cylinder head to be bored out. In addition, the crank hub and aluminum engine block was also scored. In addition to being too far in, the front crank seal had a mix of RTV/JB Weld on the sealing surface that suggested that the mechanics knew the car had problems and tried to patch it up.If the mechanics had used the special tool for the front main seal, there would've been no scratches and the replacement would've been done correctly. How does a shop that specializes in BMW's not have BMW special tools? Also, why aren't the injectors in correctly? These issues are all very alarming and not something I would expect from a shop.

Update: returned to shop with a new issue, the car is older and has high miles so it s going to need things. I can honestly say these folks stand behind their work and go the extra mile for customer service. -/ I ve been to other, heavily advertised import shops and was quite frustrated, having to take my car back multiple times for a simple brake job. A neighbor, a real Mercedes guy recommended Wilmington Motor Works. Not only are they reasonable, they are real automotive professionals. They re not trying to sell you services that aren t necessary.. I know, shocking. I won t be going anywhere else.

Dateline Nov 2021Today I had a oil change service, full safety check, state inspection and all suspension springs replaced on my 2001 BMW 330i. With almost 160K miles, the springs needed replacment. Now the ride quality is just as it was in 2001 when it left the factory. Nice job Wilmington Motor Works!!! And I really appreciated their new mobile application showing me a complete review on all systems before I picked up the vehicle. Check out the snap shot photo.Dateline: Jan 2021For the past few days I was hearing strange noises under the hood on my 2001 BMW 330i. My diagnosis thought it might be a bad pulley or possible water pump. A quick stop at WMW's identified the problem as a water pump bearing that failed prematurely. Tim, the owner, insisted I leave the car right away as a catastrophic failure was a real possibility. Today I picked up my car with a new water pump replaced under warranty at no charge. No hassle, no questions and a loaner car was provided for the 24 hours to fix. Always gratifying to see a shop stand by their work and replacement parts. A big thank you to Tim and the team at WMW's. The car runs as new and I continue to depend on WMW for my BMW service .....since Nov 2016.Dateline Nov 11, 2019Today marks Year #3 of service by Wilmington Motor Works after my purchase of a 2001 BMW 330i in Nov 2016. Today I had my NC State Inspection, oil change and in depth mechanical review by the team at WMW's, including pictures to document any questionable items. They gave me notice I need my rear brakes done in the next three months. Bottom line....WMW's continues to have this car running as new. I can't say enough about the quality of their work and attention to detail.Dateline June 12 2019Today I had the transmission fluid changed in my 2001 BMW 330i. The fluid is supposed to last the lifetime of the car, but after 145K miles I was starting to experience slower shifting at higher RPM shift points. It was clearly time for a filter and fluid change. Now the transmission shifts as new. Another no hassle repair by the team at Wilmington Motor Works.Dateline 2 March 2019Tim and the team at Wilmington Motor Works continue to amaze me with the quality of their work. Last month my 2001 BMW 330i with 142K miles was starting slow with longer and longer crank times. A quick call got me an appointment in two days. Their diagnosis was the original fuel pump was showing the early signs of failure. Later that day I had a new fuel pump and while it was there I elected to change out the coil and plugs for each cylinder. The car continues to run as new and I continue to depend on WMW for my BMW service.Dateline 4 Oct 2018I've now been a customer for 2 years and my BMW 330i runs like it just left the factory in 2001. And I attribute that to Tim and his team at Wilmington Motor Works. Today was a routine maintenance visit and NC Inspection. They just keep on delivering the service and support that keeps me coming back. A truly trusted partner.Dateline 6 Nov 2016In Nov 2016 I purchased a 2001 BMW 330i that needed some work to bring all the maintenance items up to date. After doing some research in early 2017, I selected Wilmington Motor Works to do a complete service inspection and update all key operating systems. I found their work to be very thorough and reasonably priced. And when I had one issue with a persistent small leak, they did everything required to make it right. For me, that is the mark of a proven and trusted service provider. Sometimes cars like mine can be challenging to work on with highly integrated systems and very tight tolerances. This is where the team at Wilmington Motor Works shines ....they have the knowledge, skills and tools to keep these machines running like new and that makes me a customer for life.Services: Steering & suspension repair, Auto engine diagnostic, Wheel alignment, Air conditioning, Brake service & repair, Oil change

BEWARE OF SCAMSHorrible experience from top to bottom (entire conversation linked in pictures. I am a tech of 10 years experience in the buisness)Problems with this interaction (they get worse as the list goes on)1. Called their posted number twice and no answer. So I tried text as website states2. I asked if a service could be provided and was never given an answer (can you guys replace battery and register it to car?)2. They asked for very private info over an unsecured line without ever talking to me (name and address after already having my phone number? Can you replace my battery??)3. They sent me a report that stated they tested my battery and alternator. Included is a picture of a voltmeter attached to the battery. A voltmeter is INCAPABLE of testing a battery. It can only tell you what the current voltage of the battery is. There are tools for testing batteries (Google midtronics) that every shop has. It is standard practice to print out a battery TEST result and show it to the customer.4. The report says my alternator was tested (this can be done with any midtronic like machine) and it was overcharging at high rpms (during alternator test rpms should be at idle and then at 3000. Which is low. So why they had my vehicle at high rpms is anyone's guess) and when I asked to see the print out they told me that if I wanted they could simply change the battery and leave the alternator however the battery would not have warranty.5. If I buy a car battery anywhere so long as it is new that battery has a 2 year warranty from the manufacturer of the battery. if I buy a battery and then bring it back next day and the battery is dead its still warranty. If my alternator drains my battery it's still warranty.6. After asking about the warranty they called me to tell me that actually they can't find an alternator ANYWHERE in the world and they are NOT okay with putting the battery in without replacing the alternator (though they previously said they would) then told me where I could find the key to the vehicle and hung up.Overall I'd give 0 stars if I could. And am looking into if this business is acredited by the bbbThoughts on what happened: they wanted to replace the alternator to make money off me without having tested it. Once they saw I wanted proof they decided to put a used battery in my car to save themselves money and to assure the battery would again die and this time i would replace the alternator.Odd how after telling them im a tech they can no longer work on my car. They also stated after jump starting my car all the lights were flashing and modules kept resetting. Odd. Since i jump started it and drove it 15miles to them with no issues.Service: Battery

Having recently bought my first BMW, plus being a new resident of Wilmington, I was clueless as to where to get my car serviced. I found Wilmington Motor Works online and read the reviews and decided to give them a try. I was greeted promptly when I arrived and someone came right out to check out my SUV. I was advised of what was needed and received explanations for all that was needed and why. When I explained that I had to go out of town in a few days they worked me in and completed needed repairs while I waited. I also requested that they order me some new tires, which they did and arranged for me to get them installed in 2 days. I was extremely pleased with the service and professionalism I found at Wilmington Motor Works. They have a new loyal customer.

I've used Wilmington Motorworks on my 14' BMW 3 Series since I purchased it in 2018. The service is great, scheduling is easy and they definitely know these vehicles. It's especially nice working with and getting to know Hannah at the front desk. Great shop, highly recommend.

Wilmington Motor Works has serviced my BMW & Mercedes. Every time I was treated to prompt, efficient and effective customer service. Hanna at the front desk speak "technician" and communicates clearly to identify what is needed and customer expectations. Each time the shop accomplished the service within the forecasted timeline and at or under the original estimate. Diagnostic results are communicated clearly to the customer and fix action recommendations are offered before the work is done. The cars come back to me clean.Quality service at competitive prices.Services: Electrical repair, Electrical

We tried Wilmington Motor Works for the first time when our new MINI needed maintenance. Chris was friendly and professional, and made the service experience easy to understand. The inspection report they offer was very helpful in setting a base line for our car's current condition and upcoming needs, and we didn't feel oversold in the slightest. The texting system and online payment option was great for status updates throughout the service, and allowed us to pick up our car after hours if we couldn't make it by during their regular business hours. Would highly recommend Wilmington Motor Works, and they have a new lifetime customer in us!

They ve been working on my 1998 M3 for almost 2 years, and I m very happy with their service. I needed an inspection, oil change and brake fluid flush on my 2014 X5 (now beyond extended warranty coverage) so I opted to leave the higher prices of the dealership and let Wilmington Motor Works do the job. As usual, everything was great and I continue to be satisfied with their entire operation. Count me a long-time customer. Thanks.Service: Oil change

I recently purchased a 2005 Mercedes with issues.Wilmington Motor Works worked with me to repair the issues. Everything was explained and price was reasonable. If you are in need of a mechanic who is honest and trustworthy, look no further. From my first phone conversation with Hannah to picking up my vehicle it has been a polite, professional and personable experience. The chairs in the waiting area are extremely comfortable also.

Pleasantly surprised several times!I'm relatively new to the area, and on the recommendation of others on Facebook chose Wilmington Motor Works to investigate an electrical problem in my BMW that was draining the battery when the car wasn't running. I used their website to explain the issue and schedule an appointment. They offered to have me drop the car off at my convenience and leave it for a couple of days so they could investigate. I replied that I needed to arrange a rental car first, and was pleasantly surprised to be offered a loaner, a truly unexpected benefit! A couple of days later they contacted me explaining the issue had been traced to the radio which continued to draw various amounts of current when is was turned off, and when the car wasn't running. When I returned to pick up the car, the owner Tim (also the mechanic that worked on it) thoroughly explained what he had found and that he had pulled the fuse to prevent further draw until I decide what to do about the radio. He also provided me with a very reasonable labor amount to swap out the radio should I decide to get a replacement unit myself. The bill? Another very very reasonable, and pleasant surprise! This might be the first time I've ever left a repair facility with a smile on my face :) and it makes me happy to have a knowledgeable and fair mechanic to take my car to. A++ to you and your staff Tim. Great job all around! Thanks.

I was referred to this business for my vehicle, and with it being my first time here I was nervous! However, Chris was very helpful over the phone with setting up my appointment, and upon dropping off the vehicle, I was taken care of by the very nice receptionist up front. I love that I was able to view the step by step process via text. I also was able to view my vehicle diagnosis on my phone once it was completed. Problem areas had pictures to accompany the descriptions; I love how tech savvy they are! I would recommend this place to anyone and couldn t thank them enough for such a pleasant experience

Terrible service! The worst. I feel wronged and made to feel like they don t care about me as a customer. Having text message as the only way to communicate is a setup for really bad service. I basically threw away $1000 for my car to be repaired and the issue still exists- then to have them respond when we alerted them that the issue still exists yet again only via text message and starting off with Good Morning, As you recall you were upset about the quote is really and truly unnecessary and unprofessional. I just want my car fixed and I want to explain to me via phone call instead of email or text what is going on. Is that too much to ask?Service: Brake service & repair

The service we receive far exceeds what we received from the dealer in the past. They are very thorough, honest and provide quality work with a warranty. I was amazed at the price, compared to the dealership. After meeting Tim and Chris, having my B7 serviced at Wilmington Motor Works, I will return for all of my service needs. The work they did is outstanding, only wish I would have found the shop sooner. I live in Jacksonville, definitely worth the drive to find someplace I can trust to service my BMW.

Wilmington Motor Works came highly recommended to me by Shaun Fuch. He was detailing my BMW & I mentioned getting bad service from a dealership here. He told me he most highly recommended WMW. I had a part worked on 6 months or so ago & they were great at explaining all to me. They made an impression on me that first time that assured me they were who I wanted to take care of my car with any further issues that would come up. Last week I took it in for an inspection. After that was done the gentleman walked me out to the car explaining why I needed new tires very soon. I would not have recognized this problem without him pointing out every tire & explaining why it was necessary. It was not anything you would outright notice, but it was to the point that within 3 months driving would become extremely dangerous. He gave me a price of new tires and alignment but also said he would check around to see if he could find any more reasonable . I highly recommend Wilmington Motor Works. I feel blessed I found them because I feel I finally found a place that I trust. I Love my car & want to keep it in the best shape possible!!!!!!

Great Trustworthy Professionals! I've taken both of my BMW's there for service and repairs and received great service with no worries! It's hard to put your trust into someone with your vehicles, but from the very first visit I knew that from now on, that's where my cars would be going! VERY SATISFIED!

Hannah was incredibly helpful! It's a shame I don't live anywhere near Wilmington otherwise I'd use them for every repair. Hannah was a blessing among one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. I purchased a BMW 135i recently from a nearby dealer and it unfortunately had previously experienced a belt failure and pushed the belt into the engine. The issue had been covered up by either the previous owner or the dealer. Hannah helped me understand it's service history at Wilmington motor works and was happy to reassure the dealer I purchased the car from that this is a common issue and that it could go unnoticed for quite some time. Seriously an incredible business with incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and caring employees, who were willing to go above and beyond even when they knew I would not be spending any money with them.

I have had two BMW's maintained by Wilmington Motor Works. They provide excellent service by highly qualified mechanics and technicians. They are also friendly and efficient. Their owners/managers are top notch people. Every time I have needed help with my BMW's, they have solved the problem and charged me much less than I would have paid at a dealer. They have a very pleasant waiting room with wifi and snacks so you can relax and surf the web while you wait.

First experience with my Mini I ve only had for a couple of months. I had called the BMW place in Wilmington and they told me to take it to Wilmington Motor Works in Wilmington. This place is the best. They know their minis. Had to replace the timing chain on my Mini. They were nice and took my extended warranty from USAA (which is awesome and everyone needs one if they buy a used mini) and a 2000Job cost me 58.00 just for the oil they had to put in. That s all the warranty didn t cover with no deductible.I m hoping I don t have any more issues with it but if I do I can guarantee my go to place is the wonderful crew at Wilmington Motor Works. It begins with Hannah and ends with a satisfied customer. Thanks guys.

Repaired and clean drainage for convertible top that was clogging. The clog filled my wheel well. Only disappointment was they didn't do my State Inspection. However as usual their service was excellent. They even explained how to prevent the water from filling the wheel well.

I've been coming here for nearly a decade because the Techs are great. But my most recent experience has caused me to re-evaluate. The new front employee is horrid. I specifically asked that they look at a spring I installed to allow the EGR valve to open and let me know if it was safe. That it had thrown a P2457 code because the valve not opening but that I had erased it and it had not returned. what I got for service was a txt 15mins after the appt. time saying the vehicle was ready, that the only thing they did was scanned for faults, found one and suggested we take it to the dealer for a voluntarily emissions recall. While I appreciate that the tech is trying to save me money but this is not the work I requested. As soon as I mentioned this to the desk person they said "don't get smart w/ me", I asked to speak to the technician she said no, it just went downhill from there. I believe that the techs were never informed correctly of what my request, that this person only ever communicated to the tech that I wanted a fault scan. But, the worst of it was when I iterated that this was not what I had asked to be done I got attitude. I still believe that these techs are some of the best in the area but, not the only ones. If the customer requests never make it to the techs they're kind of hamstrung. But, the insult to the injury is when the customer asks the clerk why these requests were not even addressed & the clerk gets defensive then offensive w/ the customer. I may never patronize this establishment again because of this one clerk, which is a shame because I do believe the techs are very skilled & I have had nothing but good experiences up until now.Service: Auto engine diagnostic
