I would like to thank Darryl Keels the owner of Econo Transmission for replacing my transmission very shortly after the warranty expired. I imagine this isn't normal practice but Darryl did what he thought was right. Actions like this arent seen often but he clearly demonstrated he has morals and ethics. I am extremely appreciative for this kind act. There are many transmission shops to go to in Wilmington but Econo Transmission is fair and just and their work is superior.Walter N. Bordeaux

I just recently had my 2016 Tahoe serviced at Econo transmission and was extremely 100% pleased with the services. Thank you so much for being, not only a locally owned business, but a professional business that cares about the customer to make sure everything is done the way they want it.... hats off to you guys sorry I can't give you any more than five stars that's all that's allowed on Google reviews..

These guys are Great!! I had a work van that had a bad trans in it and told the owner Daryl that I needed in back quick if possible. They installed a new Transmission after hours to get me back on the road. Exceptional service and great guys

Excellent work at a fair price. I brought them the 4 speed from my 1977 Jeep and their rebuild of it was superb. It's quiet, tight and thus far reliable. Courteous staff as well. I highly recommend.

Great experience. They were very professional and explained everything very well. I had a very old expedition that i thought for sure needed a new transmission. After proper diagnosis, the guys found that it was a small leak of transmission fluid. After a quick repair and transmission tune up, i am good to go and for about a 1/10 the price i was expecting. Great job.

The absolute best transmission shop I have ever dealt with! They will repair your transmission if at all possible and not try and sell you a new one. I took my vehicle in, they let me know when they could do the work and that is exactly what happened! We need more upstanding businesses like this. I was totally satisfied! And the price was totally fair! I highly recommend!

Had an issue with my wife's car, our usual mechanic wanted a lot of $ to replace a part. Took it to Econo for a second opinion, turned out it was a completely different part needed replaced. The folks at Econo were very communicative and great to deal with. Would not hesitate to return here and recommend this shop to family and friends. Thanks!

Michael made my experience there very informative. I am a Car Shield holder and I guess I will see soon if they are really there for the customer or just another scammer. Am praying for the latter.I felt comfortable leaving my car there.

Overfilled my transmission. $700 "repair" didn't correct the problem. Diagnosed it myself. $70 and 10 minutes to fix. 2 stars are because I want to believe they acted in good faith. I cannot, however recommend them.

Horrible, My girlfriend took her Pt Cruiser to get the o2 sensor fixed. Her car sat literally for 3 weeks as they took their sweet time fixing it. Claiming to be waiting on the part in the mail. They charged her $725.00 for the o2 sensor, $80.00 to install it, $200.00 to set up the sensor computer. and then another random 80.00 charge on top of that. Don't trust this place, they are a true RIP OFF

I'm so grateful to Econo transmission. I was having a big issue with transmission shifting poorly. I was so worried, as a new SUV transmission can cost thousands of dollars. I took my Jeep to Darryl's shop and I was Blessed on July 3rd! He showed me it was more "operator error"! That's right! I was driving in such away that it was slipping into 1st gear, because I wasn't watching closely. I was so grateful when he showed me the mistake. He didn't charge me a penny! And then, he was patient and kind enough to leave his shop and take me on a drive in the middle of a work day! He wanted to show me how sensitive the shifter was and a way to shift so it wouldn't happen again.I'm so grateful! He could have charged me thousands and I wouldn't have known and paid it! I'm a disabled Veteran of the Iraq war and every dollar matters. He'san honest person and good man, so that didn't happen! I'm grateful to God that he put Mr. Keels in my path and sent me to an honest person and a good shop. I'll be telling this story for many years to come!! Bless you Darryl, your family and wonderful Econo Transmission!! Thank you for giving me a new faith in humanity, during a year when I really needed some hope. Your Friend, Wendy USN/RN

I've used Econo Transmission 3 times since I moved to Wilmington in 2005. Over a decade ago I took my Montero Sport because the transmission was having trouble. I expected the call that it needed to be replaced and the owner said it just needed fluid. I had to go back a year later and it turned out to be a small leak. He did the fill originally and charged me minimally for the gasket fix the year later. A decade later, I took my Tundra to get looked at. I was expecting to replace the transmission again... Turned out to be a minor fix again. I don't know much about cars/truck repair, I could easily be taken advantage of in a repair situation. My experience with Econo Transmission is worth sharing because they were honest and didn't find a problem that wasn't there. If you have a transmission issue, I highly recommend them because my experience there has been awesome!Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

Very nice people at the shop & in the office. Did exactly what I was told by the office. It was done in a timely manner and the everything works well.The price was as quoted.I would use them again without hesitation.

best tranny shop in Wilmington. They diagnosed and fixed my car free of charge since it was only a fuse blown. Also have a great reputation for being THE place to get your transmission replaced.

I bought an old work van to my flooring company and I tested it superficially as it was a good price, and when I got the road to head to Wilmington it barely got 40 mph and the first thing that came in mind was that it had a transmission problem..so I went straight to Econo transmission as I read good reviews at Google, and told to man at front desk that my van has a transmission problem..and he said " I can't tell you're right before check it out" that was my first good impression about this place..so after 2 days testing he called me and said that the van problem was a bunch of ignition repairs..coils, spark plugs, cables etc..so they got the job done and my van now just run perfectly with a lot of weight on it...I spent a quarter of amount I would if it was a transmission problem...so this honest and transparency itself deserves a 5 stars..but add on top of that the high level of technical knowledge this guys have...so if you need transmission services or another services this is the right place to go..hands down.

Absolutely awesome....I took my 1965 Buick over and they found a vacuum line had gone bad. They could have charged me 300.00 and I'd not have know the difference....but it was only 55.00

Worst service ever!!!! Very unprofessional!! They just want your money.... fixed my car and charged me for it without calling me and dissucussing the issues with it or pricing, due to the fact they saved my number wrong in their system after I corrected it with them multiple times. Oh yeah and what they did, didn t even fix my car. I ll never be back.

Great people , they are fixing my truck, they explain everything in detail what's wrong with your vehicle, they give you a price , it's fair pricing, best place to get your transmission fixed ,or other problems , they definitely stand by their work.

Econo Transmission has repaired several transmissions for me over the years. Darryl and the guys at Econo have always been more than fair in every aspect. I would not take my cars anywhere else to get it worked on. In the world of auto repair it is hard to find a place that you can trust your car with. I completely trust Econo Transmission with my car.

Avoid this shop, they told me my transmission needed to be rebuilt and I asked them if there was a chance that the transmission had a bad solenoid pack or valve body and they told me no that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. After several months of not driving the car because I could not afford the $2,000 to rebuild my transmission. I started to research more and I talked with a few people and they told me to do what I had first suggested to the shop and I would most likely get Reverse back. Well guess what . Less than $250 later (Cost of a rebuilt valve body and solenoid pack and a case of transmission fluid and of course a new filter) my transmission now works as good as it did brand new. So my advise to everyone is to avoid these guys. I am a disabled veteran on a very limited income and these guys were willing to lead me the wrong direction. Also this was not the only shop that did not tell me the truth so be very careful of these shops in Wilmington.

The guys here are very knowledgeable professional about there work. They diagnosed my problem explained the problem to me and gave me options to help me out. They got my car performing like it should. I would highly recommend them to anyone that is having transmission problems. Dont waist time going anywhere else.
