We travel almost 5 hrs one way at least 3 times a year just for this place! Cleanest bathhouses we ve seen! And the service ITS AMAZING! The guy who runs the place is so accommodating and just a genuine good guy! Trails for everybody, sights and views for days, leave feeling like a brand new refreshed person! Blue bear is our spot! They have won themselves some lifers out of us!

This is the second time I have stayed here (last time was about 9 years ago), and both times have been fantastic! All of the folks that run the campgrounds are terrific, and there are so many campsite options to choose from. Definitely spend a little extra to have them carry all of your gear in, as the trails down from the main camp area can be tricky. Such a great place to go during the leaf changing season, and will definitely be back to try out the cabins next!

I don t think I could honestly say enough about this place! Absolutely beautiful clean well-maintained. The staff is super friendly. The campsites are spaced out the hiking trails are rugged but well marked and they have trails large enough to ride four wheelers and dirt bikes. it is also pet and children friendly. The staff is super nice and accommodating and they will deliver the firewood to your lot. The only real downside to this place would be the entrance. It feels more like a private driveway than it does an actual entrance to a campsite, but don t be shy come on up lol. also, while I didn t stay in the stargazer dome, they are pretty large. The pictures don t do them justice. They do offer ice firewood and laundry services but they don t have a commissary so be sure you bring your own food, toiletries, etc.

Strangest campground we've ever camped at. We were shocked when they showed us our campsite, it was in the middle of an open field, no trees, right next to other campers. There was no feeling of privacy, nothing to feel like you were really camping. When I think of camping, I think of being surrounded by trees and such. It was very odd. I'm giving 3 stars because the host was really nice, the place was kept up nicely, good bathrooms, etc.

We came specifically to see the stars at night. The view of the sky from their huge deck in the field, with countless stars and slight views of the Milky Way Galaxy were spectacular. Very quaint, private and natural scenery. Long hiking trail. The "Cabin" is perfect for people who prefer to stay with a few extra luxuries (SEE website info). The bathhouse is nice with one shower, toilet and sink) Very friendly staff!

We had the unexpected pleasure of staying at Blue Bear for two nights. The campground we were heading to off the Blue Ridge Parkway was closed so we had to quickly find a place to stay on a Thursday evening, which was also the start of Labor Day weekend. We called Blue Bear and talked to Mike who was very pleasant on the phone and said he had a spot for us for that night. When we got there Mike showed us to our spot and was a great host. We found the campground to be in great shape, camp spots were clean and decently spaced, bathrooms were clean, firewood available, and great spots for viewing the stars. The next day, although the campground was full, Mike went out of his way to set us up in an overflow section and gave us rocks to make a fire pit. Mike was a gracious host and one of the hardest working camp hosts we have ever seen. He was there first thing in the morning till late in the evening making sure everyone was taken care of. This won't be out last trip to Blue Bear Campground!

Wonderfully beautiful camping spot. Skip KOA! ... Support local... Michael was very kind. Our stay was peaceful. Bathrooms and grounds were kept clean. We will certainly keep this site in mind All of the bad reviews I have read sound like they come from people that don't really camp. If you are a truly experienced camper, you should 100% have no issues with this place.I also noticed someone complain about the weather I think that tells you everything you need to know about their review. I will warn you, it's a windy area. We asked Mike about it. So just be prepared for gusty blustery nights sometimes. And always be prepared to do without when you go camping friends the site was everything it needed to be.

Coming from the Richmond VA area we had a blast with all eight adults and five grandchildren. The campground, once your there is pretty amazing to be located on the side of a mountain.I would give this five stars but when you pull off the main road to go to the top its a pretty scary climb especially pulling our 5th wheel camper. Mike is awesome and so extremely nice and accommodating and down to earth you couldn't ask for a better campground manager. We used our Iphone map to get there and it was not an issue at all. I would highly recommend sites C4-C5 or C6 as they look down and over the other side of the mountains are are extremely private even with bigger RV's like we had. I also highly recommend Tweetsie Railroad as a destination. It has awesome in 1974 when my parents took me and is even better today!

The owners were very pleasant and the bathrooms were extremely clean. Usually I hate using a community shower but I felt confident in the cleanliness of the shower. My family had a wonderful time. Just make sure you take hiking boots with you if you plan to take the trails or go fishing at the pond.

This is a wonderful campground! A beautiful setting with a nice mix of drive-up and hike-in campsites in different settings. The gear delivery to the hike in campsites is a great option for those who want some privacy and more remote settings but don't want to backpack in. But most of all I can't say enough how helpful, generous, and kind the host Mike was. He went above and beyond to accommodate our family, even coming to help us move gear at the crack of dawn when our daughter was sick. It was so appreciated and has helped make us huge fans of Blue Bear Mountain!

Probably the most beautiful campground I have visited. Exceptionally well maintained.Mike ushered me to a much better site than I had reserved ( only due to few guests during my weekday visit) and made sure we had everything we needed. He even lent me an extension for my electrical hook up that enabled me to nestle in my Little Guy.Pam filled me in on my limited knowledge of the site and really made us feel at home.I really appreciate the attention to details here like the stacked stone fire rings and liberal application of mulch in the sitting area of our site.Plenty of firewood and worth the price. I ve paid more for less before. I m even leaving some for the next camper.A little challenging to navigate the road up but well worth the effort. There were much bigger rigs than mine here.Mike assisted me filling my water tank-no water service at the camp site due to freezing conditionsNot sure when I will be back but it s now on my list. Best three nights of camping even with rain.

Great place with beautiful mountain views. No bad lots. The employees we met, Mike, Pam and Terry, were fantastic. The bathrooms were constantly being cleaned and straightened, the camp areas were all clean and well maintained. The hiking trail will kick your butt! The views made it worth it! They take the 11 p.m quiet time seriously, also a plus for us with the kids! We are counting down to our Spring trip back to Blue Bear Mountain.

If you enjoy camping in the mountains of North Carolina, Blue Bear Mountain Campground will be at the top of your list. They offer tent camping, remote camping sites, RV sites, Tee Pees and cabins. GREAT place to take the family! The campground is well maintained and offers plenty of trails, a stocked trout pond, and the staff are friendly, courteous, and resourceful. Located 25 minutes from Boone, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and on top of a mountain at 3900 ft, you will find a sense of peace and solitude. It doesn t get any better than BBMC!

I just want to make note that 5 stars is not enough. I would truly give it a 10. I have camped all around this country. This campground is TOP NOTCH! Beautiful, friendly, accommodating. Close to everything, hiking trails on site. I just can't say enough good. The road might be a little steep, but I got my 44' toy hauler up there. We Will go back. Absolutely AMAZING! My only suggestion is to be aware that water hook ups are not at each site for RV. You will need to fill your tank and use your pump. No big deal as they had plenty of hose to refill without moving the RV. The Staff is super nice and goes out of their way to be helpful. Again, I just can not say enough good things.

Worst experience ever - false advertising- never says they do not have water or sewer - we were booked for three nights - we left after two - very cold - everything froze - we have had better stays at state parks than this place - had this campground been upfront with their amenities- I would have never booked here / this should only be a S20.00 a night stay - it is a total joke - never will return - owner will not refund money - thinking about trying better business bureaus- horrible rode driving in gravel one lane traffic. We had an incredible experience at Blue Bear! Mike is a true gem. He is fantastic at what he does and you can tell he loves it. We stayed at R-003 and it was a great spot for a couple of hammocks (or a tent!) It was nice to be able to hike and be deep in the woods but only have to pay $25 round trip for gear delivery. It was the best of both worlds. We went into Boone during the day - only 8 short miles away! We would highly recommend this spot and i m sure we will return, as the customer service is unparalleled,

We have finally found our perfect campsite thanks to Blue Bear. We have been searching for a site that embodies solitude with a bit of luxury and this is it. We stayed at one of the hike in sites which isn't for everyone as the hike in is a bit steep and the hike out is even more brutal especially for our florida lungs but oh so worth it.To have the ability to be totally alone yet have the luxury of the staff to haul your equipment to your site is absolutely amazing as well as all the firewood you would ever need. The best and most seasoned firewood we've ever received from a campground that took no time at all to light. We felt like we were back country primitive camping yet with all the same gear that we'd use at a normal campsite. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating and we will definitely be returning.

We had a group of ten from our church youth group camp out in mid-July. Before we made reservations, we had good email communication with Blue Bear. The campground is very clean, isolated from town, bathhouse was exceptionally well kept, and Pam was extremely friendly. It s about a fifteen minute drive to Lowes Food or Big Lots, has hiking on site, but also very close to Elk Knob or other hiking trails. We tubed at Wahoo s Adventure only ten minutes from the campground on the New River. We also had a couple friends come the first night just to grill out and make s mores and they were very impressed with the site.Roomy and well-groomed lawn, grill and fire pit included, bathhouse had showers installed as well. We camped at G-07/T-07. We will definitely come back. Thank you for the great memories.

Awesome place! Would def come back again! Super nice staff, very very helpful! Quite and relaxing, we came in on a Monday not to many campers. I'm sure the weekend fills it up! Def stay here if you're looking for peace and quiet! Clean bathrooms and nice showers, laundry on site and a dishwash area!
