Terrible experience during holiday times. We arrived in line at 8:30am to rent equipment and purchase a day lift pass. It took 2.5 hrs! Seriously, 11am. One line to get the lift pass and another line to get the equipment. The tubing line is another story; sold out by 10:30am. Totally unorganized. They need to do better. Not to mention long lines once you get out on the snow. It s a hard pass for me and my family.

We took our 3yr old Tubing, it was excellent!! The skiing was a bit shallow, due to lack of true snow so far this season. But there was enough for her to gear up, and actually learn the basics.Great atmosphere.

Great place for beginners, especially kids. We have done both the tubing and the skiing. The tubing is fun for all ages. The skiing is definitely beginner level but great for kids that need that early exposure to the snow and getting use to the ski gear. The customer service is great, extremely laid-back.

We went there last Sunday, the staff is very friendly and attentive. We had an awesome time! Great place for families looking to have some fun and first-time experience with Skiing and Snow tubbing. They have an on-site restaurant with a full bar.

They were not yet open, and were making snow when we were there.

We arrived at 8:30 a.m. and stayed in line 3 hours for tickets and ski's. Tubing pass was sold at another desk and we were told that it was sold out. Can't buy passes or rent equipment online. There has got to be a better way as standing in line like this takes all the fun out of your trip. It did ours.

This was my first time attempting to go skiing. Please go find another place. They don't allow you to reserve in advance and it's first come, first serve. While waiting in line for over two hours, we were informed that they ran out of helmets and snow boards. We had probably another two hours to wait in line so we decided to leave. There was two people checking in every person in the place. I will never go back to Sapphire.

Great location. Quiet. Peaceful. Clean. Well managed. Can't comment on the skiing. After all, it is early May, but the area more than makes up for it. And I would be happy just with the fireplace in the units. If you are off ski season, there is an executive Par 3 golf course, hiking trails, waterfalls and scenic drives all around you. You can't lose

If you want to go skiing while in this area, then it's worth a day. However, I wouldn't go here just to ski(ie ski trip). It's one hill and one ski lift. The line to buy your lift tickets and rentals was hours long. Then we had to wait another hour to get our equipment. While I was in the equipment line, they ran out of snowboard boots between size 7 - 14 so I had to switch to skiing. A little bit of technology would fix these problems so no clue why they don't just let people order ahead online. The guy running the ski classes was incredibly unprofessional but you could tell he was just stressed due to being so busy so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and just say he needs to learn how to function in a potentially stressful work environment.

Great Two run ski resort for families to learn To ski at. Family of 5 with lift tickets & rentals was ~$480. Get there early as the ski shop & paying for it takes some time.

Really good place to go with family. Perfect for beginners as we were. The staff is very professional and make sure you have a good time at their facilities. We loved skiing and tubbing. Definitely a place I would recommend.

We were going to go here, but we checked it out and it is a huge disappointment! One slope that is packed!!! Snow tubing is poor and overall quality is bad. We heard that one person was waiting for hours to get their equipment.

Arrived before they opened, waited in line for an hour just for them to run out of snowboards and helmets. Completely unprofessional how they handled the line. Incredibly unorganized.

We probably picked the worst time possible to try this place. - The MLK holiday weekend, in the middle of the global pandemic where outdoor sports are already in high demand. The place was absolutely PACKED!!! - But if you read below, you ll see how the team at Sapphire Valley still deserve all 5 stars. My daughter and I drove up from Atlanta (3 hours each way) and arrived at opening time to find there were already lines for lift tickets and rental equipment. By 10am renters were already being turned away because they had run out of most equipment. Then I met Gary...Gary was working the lines and speaking to everyone individually, listening to them and gently explaing the situation. We pitched that had driven up for the day specifically for my daughter to learn to snowboard and it would all be in vain. Fortunately he had an idea. Daughter is pretty small and light so they had some kids boards leftover but nothing for me, except perhaps a short pair of ski s and the promise of a board later in the day. Brilliant - I ll take it! - After about an hour we were suited and booted!Theres a gentle bunny slope with a Magic Carpet and a longer run with a couple of rails for experts to slam, fed by a 4 seat Chairlift. Despite the initial crowds, the slopes never felt crowded and we had plenty of space to learn. Also if you look at the ski cam on their website it looks like the lines to go uphill are long but they move fairly quickly. Then I met Amanda...Amanda had noted that I wasnt in the equipment I wanted and took the time to follow up with a phone call as soon as a board my size became available. A quick return of my skis and boots and I m back into Shawn-White-Mode !What looked like a total bust for the day, had now turned into probably one of the more memorable days in my daughters life. - Primarily down to the team at Sapphire Valley. Even all the guys who spent the day freezing while working the lifts had some chat and a smile for us all. This place could rival Chik-Fil-A for top level service! I would also recommend it for a fun day out for the family and a perfect place for the youngsters to learn before heading to more expensive resorts.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience at all on the Sunday of President's Day Weekend as the resort was understaffed and we had to wait in line for both tickets and rentals for 2.5 hours! The skiing was fine but the resort staff decided to start a burn of lumber, cardboard and other items during the peak of skiing causing thick, chocking smoke directly under the only chairlift. It was mind-blowing they would do this during the ski hours.

Pros:Friendly slopes for beginners and getting up the bunny slope can be done easily to get the most out of your time rather then waiting on the bunny lift.Instructor Zach from ski school was incredibly kind and patient and gave out 7yr old so much attention during the lesson. Just truly a great experience with him.Cons:Everyone else who helped with everything just seemed miserable and unfriendly. Not sure why any of these folks work there if they re that unhappy.Arrived at 8:30 knowing there would be massive lines to get tickets/rentals. The resort opens at 9am and we waited for 2hrs to get everything. You first start at lift tickets, then move to another line to get boots, then move to another line to get skis. By the end the ski poles were already hoarded to you were just out of luck. There is no clear continuous or effective process to get your gear and it s a complete cluster. The area past the parking lot was a schlepping mess. Discarded masks all over the sidewalk and just mud pits all around.Massive line to get up the ski lift as well.

Roomy and clean. I didn't want to leave the bed, it was so comfy! Would definitely go back. Would have gave it five stars but the rooms are dated (1980's style).

Long lines and big crowds during the holidays so go very early. Nice folks that run things and the onsite restaurant is good food but can be a long wait. Man made snow so it s hard but nice fir beginner to medium level snowboarding and skiing. Prices are on the website.

We wanted to take our children on the zip line so we dropped by to get more information because we saw the sign out by the road but unfortunately we were told that it was closed until November 4th because the one person they have to run it is out of town until then.Definitely should take the sign in until you offer this service again.

The area is beautiful. We didn't ski because it was a summer vacay. But...the hiking was fabulous.

We loved the time we spent there. Out girls enjoyed out too. For 1st timers or those who are inexperienced. This is the place to go for snow tubing or skiing. The only objection from our group was the long wait line for getting our gear for skiing.

Little river, playground...nice amenities.Lots of places to own or rent.Easy access off Highway 64. Across from St. Jude's church.Good restaurants on site as well.

Avoid at all cost- Reserved a 1.75 hour session of snow tubing at 10am. They did not allow access to get in line and get tubes until well after 10:30. They were still plowing and setting up the lanes. The lift/carpet was also broken. It was after 11:15 before we had our first run. At 12, the next group came and they would not allow us to stay over to make up for the time we lost. We got to go down the hill 3 times. Total waste of time and money. People in the office would not offer refund and were rude. I wish I could leave less than 1 star.

Excellent place for beginners. The instructors are great and the slope isn't too big. Everyone there was friendly. Just be aware on busy days where the lines to register and rent hear can be horrendously long and the gear itself can sell out. Other than that it is a great place.

The kids came to Sapphire Valley to learn to ski and it went amazingly well. The temps were warm, the snow makers kept the hill open and the kids were non-stop the whole time!!! They need to figure out the ski rental situation, it took 90 minutes to get through the line, but otherwise it was a nice trip.

I arrived at the ski area 40 minutes before the doors opened. The doors opened at 8:30 and we reached the counter to pay 30 minutes later. Then proceeded to the line to pick up our ski equipment. So far I have waited in this line for 45 minutes and the line has moved maybe 3 feet. This place must be understaffed because it should not take this long to pick up the equipment. So far I feel like I've paid $90 to stand in a line that seems like it will never move. By the time that I actually reached the slopes, it will be lunch time. This is ridiculous! Also, this place only has 2 slopes. The bunny slope and a very difficult slope for the experienced skier. Since many people such as myself (Floridian) come here with little to some experience, the bunny slope gets jammed packed with people and now need to wait a very long time in a line to reach the conveyor belt that takes you up the slope. This is not worth my time and money. I won't be back here again.
